You've destroyed our club
Dear Mr Levy,
Thank you.
Thank you for completing me. I was a straitjacket short of a padded cell. But now I have it all. There’s even a little foam on the corner of my mouth. So thank you for my current state of mind, a consequence of you systematically dismantling the great club that Harry Redknapp built with his bare hands. Thank you for this empire of dirt, these ashes in a broken urn you have left for myself and my brethren to mourn over. Thank you for the cataclysm. Please send in the doctors. Order me a lobotomy, save me from witnessing further disgrace. Any minute now, Keith Burkinshaw will appear as a vision to remind me that there was once a football club here. You’ve managed to reanimate the dead after the wilderness of the 1990s only to bury it alive. You are accountable for this shambolic mess. But it’s okay, it’s of no major personal concern to you. It's all gone wrong so you can easily point the blame at the fall guy you’ve appointed in place of Harry then hire the next mug in or simply beg Redknapp to return to fix this crisis.
You didn't back Villas-Boas on purpose which means your failure is really a clever little escape clause. I know your game. Waiting until the final day to do business because you know how improbable it is to get the job done so late in the transfer window. You signed Dempsey because you knew Moutinho wouldn’t happen. Why would it when there are so many complexities involved in his transfer? So many that a day’s worth of hard graft was nigh impossible to iron them all out. He was Villas-Boas number one target and you purposely side-stepped it so that the money from the Luka Modric transfer can sit in that diamond encrusted shoe box under your bed. Hugo Lloris, another mastermind manoeuvre although you seem to have ballsed this one up. The player actually signed in the end, even with your attempts to stall and change the offer made to Lyon during negotiations. How dare you show such contempt for opposing clubs, a blatant reluctance to play into their hands and accept their demands over your own? Who the hell do you think you are? Shameful you are representative of THFC. How dare you cater for your own interests, nursing your agendas. You make my skin crawl.
Where was the £30M bid for Falcao? Llorente? Leandro? You were too busy pushing out club legend Rafa van der Vaart and failing to match valuations for our other alleged targets. You know the ones, refresh NewsNow or tune into Sky Sports News, they had a long list of them. Oh but wait, you signed Dembele. Whoop de doo. Let’s raid Fulham and it will be a-okay. In January we should look at pillaging Reading and if we’re feeling really really ambitious we can swagger on up to Anfield and pluck some of their gems.
We’re really aiming high aren’t we? If it was up to you Dawson, Defoe and Huddlestone would have been thrown onto the scrap-heap alongside Ledley King, cruelly casted out whilst you allow ex-gooners like Adebayor get richer at the cost of hiking up our season tickets. Oh wait, newsflash, you've improved the catering at White Hart Lane. Well that's okay then. At least we won't cry our eyes out at the disarray on the pitch on empty stomachs. To add further insult to injury we are now that little club in England that Jose can tap up if he wants something new for his big team in Madrid. Should I burn my Gareth Bale shirt now or wait until his transfer is confirmed next summer? I just can't get over this transfer window and your last minute attempts at signing players. Do you set your alarm to go off on the last day of August as a reminder to do some business? But it's all good isn't it? Because you can now swap Panini stickers with Florentino Pérez and share up-skirt pictures via instant messenger. He looks the type.
I’m furious.
There used to be a football club here...
You have once more screwed this club over. Selling off players along with that aforementioned refusal to meet the demands of other chairman, preferring instead to bully and play with them until they are tearful and broken. You need to consider other people’s feelings, our feelings, and stop being so self-absorbed on this ‘project’ you seem to be running into the North London ground. We’ve got money, I know we have. We sold Modric, so splash it around a bit. You saving it for a rainy day? We’re rich. That bloke who lives out in the Bahamas, he’s a billionaire God damn it.
We should be signing Champions League quality players and paying them a kings ransom to wear our shirt. But oh no, God forbid you speculate to accumulate. Let me guess, boo hoo, we need money for the stadium. Bore off. What stadium? You think a bit of scaffolding and cement mixers can fool me?
As for Villas-Boas, you've out done yourself there. The closest he ever got to playing football was reading a book about it and learning tactics and formation on a computer. He shouldn't be managing a Sunday league club let alone us. He's a researcher at best. Who's next in line? Anthony Costa? We never played this poorly under Redknapp. I refuse to give him a chance, I simply refuse. Anything below 4th is a disgrace and we're currently 14th. Unacceptable and believe me I'm being patient here. I was patient on Saturday against Norwich. I didn't start to abuse the manager until late on. I waited until the 15th minute. This isn't a transition, it's a crisis!
I've been a supporter for decades but I will never set foot back into White Hart Lane again until you are removed and gone. Okay, granted, the restraining order doesn't allow me within a mile of the stadium, but my disdain will see me boycott EA Sports games and not purchase any Under Armour gear. Apart from one of the white training tops which looks spiffing. So have some of that corporate Tottenham.
The points lost at the start of the season because of your reluctance to do business early and get in the players to replace the departing ones have cost us any chance of finishing top four. Our season is OVER. Have you looked at the table? MIND THE GAPS. Plural, that's plural.
You have sold our soul to the devil, then nicked it back, then sold it back to us only to then take a reward from the devil when pointing him in the direction of his stolen property. This, this ugly abomination of a club is what you've birthed from your greed and self-absorption. I am Gregory Peck in The Omen when he digs up that coffin in the ruined cemetery to find a jackal's skeleton in Damien's mother's grave. I'm Gregory f**king Peck! You've turned us all into Gregory Peck!
I hope you like the number ten. It’s not a shirt number Daniel. It’s the position we'll be sitting in come May. And the number 666 is no doubt glistening with pride somewhere on your body.
Yours devastatingly,
Spooky

Actually, work your way through the comments section. Just about sums it up perfectly.
i want to give avb a chance!
i am now well aware of levy's trick of linking us with top players, but purposely collapsing unreasonable deals. hes done it window after window.
he knows the players to shift out, but not in!
vdv was always going to leave, prem is too fast, he only wanted to do a short period here as it doesnt suit his football, he wants to be with his stunning wife too! (terrible man) argue this?.. he told me this himself!!!!!!
we buy mid table players who shine in the smaller club, hoping they will become able to get us champions league. the intention is never to pay the 25-35 mill the players cost who will improve our squad. but linking us with them for ages, hoping they will come for half price and minimum wage and a whelk.
hate modric? get real, he's joined a much better team....wait for it.... because hes got ambition.... (another terrible man)
dembele could be pretty good!
modric, vdv and king replaced by ajax dude, sigi-swan and dem-bully shows our ambition and what the club stands for.
unfortunately there is a kosher way of doing business, im not knocking it, but we have to accept that this is who our club is run by.
We have won 3 league games since that demolition of Newcastle in mid February.
Yes, it's ALL Levy's and AVB's fault.
Carry on. Plenty of room in the nut house.
Excellent article! Clearly not Satire, just because some bloke who wont gove his name says so, dont make it so!... "anon" - probably Daniel Levy practicing the dark arts yet again to deflect legitiamtate criticism from him self!
@cookiebun: I remember reading loads of Spurs fans on GG bemoaning how Moyes would be boring and beneath our fine footballing tradition. Whew! We certainly dodged a bullet there, eh? I mean the man does manage to do very well with no money but we're sooooooo much better off with AVB and the beautiful game he's installed at WHL :)
"Actually, work your way through the comments section. Just about sums it up perfectly."
Daniel Levy couldn't have said it better.
/smug
I remember the infighting during the man in the raincoat days, one game we winning 3-0 at home but Shelf and Park lane were swearing at each other, that was clearly wrong but I would rather have the huge spectrum of views and opinions you get from Spurs fans than the blind idolism seen at Newcastle (KK) and Liverpool (KD). I am totally against booing the team but I won't criticise others right to, and to be honest most of the responses to those booing is far worse than the original issue in the first place.
I like the debate this has kicked up but I think in the process of doing so Spooky has sided with one camp which I am not sure whether they are in the majority or not, because the noise was deafening at points on Saturday.
Another thing is given the ref was having a stinker and was being booed some of this is being misconstrued.
We do need patience, it's true - we can't criticise an evolution after just 270 mins. It's absurd to criticise AVB or Levy until at least half the season has gone.
The one thing that galls tho is not the lack of results so far (it's JUST 3 games), but it's the lack of a playing style that even look like Tottenham. The glory, the swagger, the swashbuckle, the entertainment - I've been supporting us for 50 years, and whilst I've seen some dross in that time, I've also seen some glorious football. It may not have won us trophies, but that's never been the reason for it - we were more entertaining than the rest (not boring the opposition into submission). Currently that's what's missing and I can't see where it's coming from.
That said it's early days and we need to give it time
One things really grates me tho - the booing.
Whilst I would never ever boo my own team, how dare anyone suggest that people can't boo (I cannot believe the arrogance of the poster that said 'don't boo or **** off).
people pay money and are free to express themselves in this way. If we can boo bands, comedians, or theatre then we can certainly boo our team if we're unhappy.
I don't agree with it but I certainly do not have the arrogance to suggest that people shouldn't do it
COYS
What a complete load of shite. If your moaning about season ticket prices stay at home and moan in front of the TV and let a true supporter take your place....Someone who will get behind the team and not moan after one/two/three games into the season. This time last year we had no points....short memories.
Levy has ruined our club - Competing for Champs league spot for the last five years....you obviously have a very short memory....or supported our north london squatters.
Your two bob.
Not your best work Spooky.
It's too early for sarcasm, irony or simply good old fashioned taking of the piss. Like it or not the wound caused by Harry's leaving is for a great number down at the lane, still not healed. All you've succeeded in doing here is picking at the scab. I get that you disagree with the booing, most do, but an awful lot don't and attacking them for being so impatient doesn't help.
The fix to this has to start on the pitch.
AVB has to seize the day, end the negativity of his formations and up his nous by improving his tactical game substitutions. The players are there to do it.
If he does that, he'll be given all the time he needs, if he doesn't, he'll be gone by Christmas and we really will be thinking why in Gods name did we get rid of Harry?
Doesn't matter how much you dislike Harry, that's what will happen and when it does we'll rip ourselves apart all over again, only this time our chairman will see and hear manifestations of displeasure the likes of which will make Blackburn fans protests seem childs play.
Calm the waters Spooky and resist the urge to fan the flames, sarcasm or ironic wit rarely finds it's target when folks are distressed.
This is just a follow up to the 'Boo' post from Saturday - its obviously satire of course.
However there will have to come a point where people can criticise Levy and/or AVB if genuinely warranted without the accusations of not loving the shirt etc.Who's to say when that time is appropriate though?
You can lay some pretty basic criticisms already though - there wasn't an awful lot wrong with our team last season - we were lacking a top striker (have been for 3 years) - and Levy consistently fails to address this (apart from thinking Saha was the answer of course)
As for AVB (my choice would have been Moyes) I'm happy to support him and I would never boo to team or manager - but his team selection on Saturday was somewhat mystifying and people should be allowed to make that point without being castigated as disloyal or knee jerkers.
hmmmm, I hope this is taking the mick out of this who are ALREADY jumping on this bandwagon, but I've read a lot of similar bullshit lately, so I'm really not sure... Either way. Have a little patience everyone, and COYS
Once upon a time, a lump strolls into a Kentish town boozer carrying a gun. The lump stops, and begins calmly scanning the now frozen and somewhat confused faces. let's say for argument sake there were 35 drinkers and 3 bar-staff, that's 37 blank minds and 73 puzzled eyes. 'Wisky you mug' I hear you shout, 'you can't count, 35 + 3 = 38!
There was, however, one drinker who knew exactaly why a gunman was stood in his pub. Regrettably that drinker was me.
The booing at the Lane would've only affected those who expected it, and deserved it. I booed, I booed Levy. My mates also booed Levy. 'Patience' I hear the sycophants scream, pity they didn't scream as loud when our last manager fucked up a good season of football by finishing 4th, 4th in the best Leauge in the world!
Patience? How many years have we been patient, how many years have Arsenal loomed over us, how many years have we dreamed of being a Top 4 club? How many years have we spoon-fed clubs great players, Why did our captain join Arsenal? (apart from having no soul)
Last week some 'supporters' felt that Brad was one of the main reasons VB was unable to play his favoured high line. Brad was to static, to old. We now have Lloris, but VB, now reckons Brads doing a great job, and that Lloris will have to fight for the #1 jersey! What sort of shit is this!! Either Lloris is an intrinsic part of how we set up and play or he's not? If he is, if Lloris will allow us to move up the pitch quicker allowing us to squeeze all positions more effectively then why wait for Bard to fumble a ball into the back of his net.
On a positive note Sigs first touch can only get better, it sure as fcuk can't get any worse, unless he starts wearing clogs, and let's his toenails grow.
@ DaveK. Sadley mate I have to agree.
'we've one 3 games since beating Newcastle'
Yeah mate, didn't you get the memo? We were desperate for a WORLDCLASS striker! Levy got Sahahahahaha.
Spooky - Have we improved our squad from last year? Honest answer. In my opinion NO. We used to have 2 world class players (1 in MF and 1 behind the striker) who could pick teams apart with their range of passing. Luka from deep, and VDV just off Ade. We sold these 2 players (no problem with Luka as he had to go) and HAVE NOT replaced them. Is this acceptable to you? You seem to want to divert these issues and instead focus on sarcasim, which i find as counter productive as booing. I would never boo but I shouted "Levy you shit cunt" at the top of my voice. Is that wrong? Do you feel he did us proud in the transfer window, do you think he has provided VB with the tools he needs to get 4th? Will he be punished for not getting 4th? I think deep down you know the answers to these questions? Is booing wrong in itself? No, I would never do it but to insult fellow fans in the way you have is out of order in my view. We needed Moutinho, VB needed moutinho, I think Levy did try and get him but the whole club's progression is hindered by his stupid transfer strategy, because he is more concerned with saving a few quid than what is best for the team. I wanted Harry to go but please stop saying he never did anything good, that is idiotic, and you are better than that. As someone said earlier, most realistic fand like myself did not want a net spend of £30 million of anything stupid like that, all we wanted was the money we generated from the sale of Luka and other fringe players to be used on WHAT WE NEEDED. I feel really sorry for VB, he is now getting a taste of what it means to work with Levy, just as Harry did. One thing I liked over this weekend was the fact that even though VB must of been going mental over not getting Moutinho, the guy acted with class on the website by lauding the efforts made my Levy to at least try. Wake up Spook, we ALL LOVE THFC, stop making an issue where there is none.
Some people need their own blogs, their replies are far too long for me to care reading.
Anyway, I'm not entirely sure this is satire as there seems to be a fair few people who reflect this attitude with all-to-depressingly accuracy. I think you need to step it up for it to be satire Spooky.
This whole debate reminds me a bit of the life of Brian in so much as; what has Daniel Levy ever done for us?
Well he presided over the team’s transition from mid table/relegation potential to champions league potential
Yeah but apart from that, what has he done for us?
Well we have been watching world class players like Modric, VdV, Bale, Berbatov, plus other quality ones such as Carrick, Walker,(insert personal favourites, I’m going for Lennon), Dembele?????????
Yeah but apart from the improvement in league position and the (occasional) quality signings what has levy ever done for us?
Well I suppose there is the new state of the art training ground and (hopefully) the new stadium, all the while keeping the club on sound financial footing
Yeah but apart from the quality new/forthcoming infrastructure, some fantastic players and the improved performances without threat of administration what has he ever done for us????
Nothing!! What a bastard!
Now he’s definitely not the messiah (some bad managerial choices, some bad transfers etc) and if you’re the Lyon chairman you may well look on him as a very naughty boy:), but I don’t think he’s the devil as some have portrayed him to be.
Sure, many of those quality players left, but we got the best we could and moved on trying to rebuild (again) it’s what comes from being a club of our status. We are not Real Madrid, AC Milan or Man Utd. Solely in our league, we’re not City or Chelsea or as much as it may hurt Arsenal. Liverpool seem to be doing a good job of coming back to join us (Arsenal too) but my point would be that internationally we are not a BIG club. Chances are we’re not going to be able to sign the Falcaos, LLorentes, Hulks of this world, there’s bigger clubs with bigger wages waiting for them. Sucks, I know. That’s why we need to get ourselves into those higher brackets of status but I wouldn’t want to bet the future of the club on one big name who could turn out to be a flop.
I would say big picture wise we’ve been doing a good job too. Turn of the millennium, in English football we were probably behind Newcastle, Leeds (where did they go), Everton perhaps Villa too. I would say we’re now ahead of all of them, perhaps even ahead of Liverpool and catching Arsenal in terms of both performance and status which in turn will hopefully make it easier to sign more quality players. The progress may not have been sensational but it most definitely substantial and positive and you know what, strangely enough given that I really have nothing to do with it I am proud of this. The slow rise from mediocrity, building from within not on the back of some sugar daddy, I think it’s as impressive as winning the league with oil wealth, although sadly not as joyful. This doesn’t mean I’m not hoping for more just when we win the league it’s going to be mighty impressive indeed!
I suppose the elephant in the room is Redknapp. It was a bold move; time will tell if it was a wise one. We were great last year and so far pretty poor this year but then we’ll never know for sure whether it was the manger of the loss of King, Modric etc. that has caused this tail off in fortunes. The end of last season may suggest that even with players and Redknapp there were still issues to be dealt with, but Harry was no idiot so it’s entirely possible he would have sorted it out but then I guess it’s possible he wouldn’t. Here’s to hoping that AVB brings success and we don’t have to concern ourselves with the hypothetical.
OK final point, I promise. I am not an Ultra, I’m not the world’s biggest spurs fan, and I rarely go to WHL. I say this because I guess those who do go have more weight in this conversation, you’re involved and you can have an impact. Whilst you’re not going to touch the ball you do create an atmosphere. From what I saw on Saturday (football first, so extended-extended-highlights) I saw a team short on confidence against a well organised defence, it takes patience to break them down, work through three four different attacks, I would think it is hard to be patient on a football pitch when the crowd is anxious. I’m not looking to attack people that boo or whatever. I saw some comments on the fact that people have a right to boo and I suppose that you do, like I say I’m not in a position to pass judgement, you’ve paid, I haven’t fair enough. What I would say though is that you have a choice, as always in life, in whether to exercise your right. What are you achieving through your actions, what is your desired result? Do you want the team to play better or do you want to air your frustration no matter the response? If the team wasn’t trying or didn’t seem to care then maybe they need a kick up the arse and booing might work, but, forgive me if I’m mistaken, the team appeared to be trying but lacking in confidence and cohesion. Therefore, I would have thought the booing would be quite counterproductive. Anyway, your choice. Let’s hope that we come back stronger and more cohesive after the international break and so this is all rather redundant.
Sorry about the length, got started and it all kind of came out.
p.s. Spooky, love the blog. Real joy to read, might not agree all the time but you always seem to come at things from the right perspective.
So, here is a dictionary definition of satire:
"sat·ire (str)
n.
1.
a. A literary work in which human vice or folly is attacked through irony, derision, or wit.
b. The branch of literature constituting such works. See Synonyms at caricature.
2. Irony, sarcasm, or caustic wit used to attack or expose folly, vice, or stupidity."
So what you seem to be saying is this: people who criticise "A Day Late, A Dollar Short" (ADLADS) Levy are foolish, stupid or full of vice. So they should shut up.
This view of the Spurs fans who have criticisms to make of "ADLADS" is so eltist it is completely unacceptable. Basically it means that Spurs fans have no right to criticise the club's management, that they should sit in their seats at games, keep quiet except to cheer on the players and dutifully support the team and leave the matterof team management and transfers to their betters, to the billionaires who sit up in the director's box. They know better than we do, so we should leave these matters to them. Sorry mr spook or whatever your name is, that's the frame of mind that led us into the Iraq war and made people turn a blind eye to the crooks in Wall Street and the City of London. Not on. To Spurs fans I say, carry on criticising, it is your right and it is healthy and good for the club.
Wisky - So it's Levy who signed him now and not Redknapp? Nice move there son. Nice move.
Luke - I'm not making the issue. I'm highlighting it.
Ed, it's a bit more special than satire because we are oh so special supporters.
Sometimes you can laugh at the ridiculous before realising there's some truth in there.
Spooky mate dont mind but do you have a real job ??
Do you honestly believe that!? You actualy beleive that Sahahahahaha ŵas Redknapps first choice? Do ya? Does anyone on here think for one minute that Redknapp stormed into Levy's office and demanded Sahahahahaha? Come on mate, (clicks fingers in front of eyes) wake up bruv.... (gently shakes sholders and looks into eyes)......have you taken somit?
I'm not a troll - I'm a yid extremist - I love my club - and after years of naively I have become desensitised to spin - I also feel for VB and want nothing more than him to excel, but alas, this guy is mIcKy MoUse, you'll see.
The only signing I beleive VB has asked for and got is Lloris, the rest, I beleive are Levy's! Same shit different scapegoat.
Well said comrade Ed.
Occupy WHL!!!!
:)
After reading all the posts I can say that I am happy to have splinters on my arse, I see no sense in boo-ing the team/ manager or chairman as ultimately it isnt going to help Sandro make that 5 yd pass he so desperately craves or Bale remember what he is best at BUT yes everyone has a right to their opinion and boo-ing in unison is about as clear and concise as it gets, I will say, surely once you have made your point sing , shout and scream your team into action...
There is a race on now. its the race to see who gets to say "I told you so!" (Personally I want the AVB backers to win this as the other is too horrible a thought.) However I do believe it is a marathon not a sprint, will I be happy finishing midtable , nope, but I've been a fan 28 yrs I'm used to it, I'll still be a fan. COYS
To nycyid: why not? Green Bay Packers are owned by their fans, why not Spurs? Couldn't do a worse job than ADLADS and his sidekick "Mean" Joe Lewis!
Agreed, Ed.
I find it fascinating and weird that more than a few people in this thread have equated supporting the chairman with loving the shirt. That just doesn't compute in my American lizard brain. Especially my New Yorker brain (or lack thereof).
I can't say I know a single Yankees fan--and I know some hardcore ones--who doesn't absolutely loathe Steinbrenner.
@nobody
I fully agree that everybody has a right to express their dissatisfaction,
however booing is indeed counterproductive, our players as well as AVB,
are fully aware that the performance left alot to be desired, so perhaps
cheering/singing would have created the positive vibs our beloved team
need the most, as we are begining building toward a hopefully glorious
future
Dismantled the best team in 30 years at the Lane I hear you whining. Out of all the players moved on, only Modric - who has wanted to leave for the last two years and Van de Vaart, who as good a player as he is, always seemed like a luxury player to me, were regular starters. Let's judge if we're stronger or weaker after more than 270 minutes of football. Those that think it's our god given right to attract players of the calibre of those mentioned should take a reality check. We're not in the CL this year and we can't match the wages of those that are. We are a club that is well run, a new training ground opened this month, a new stadium a few years away and arguably the best overall squad we've ever had. Hey, we even seem to be bringing a few kids through. Our time will come, in fact it's a lot closer than it was per Levy and Enic.
Urm the idiots are the ones who think this is all satire because there are mant home truths amongst the thin smattering of satire. Its just a few booing at the moment and yes they are idiots. But if things dont improve soon, not just in the results but more importantly in the attrocious performances in which we couldnt match mighty mouse let alone mighty spurs, then that few will become the many and levy will have an empty 60,000 stadium. Perhaps we could then use the olympic 5 a side pitch? Personally i think we should wait until after avb has his full squad integrated and used to his system first and then see how we lool, hopefully an inprovement will be seen and we start to become "mighty" again. But if it dont happen by xmas then 'arr looks attractive again to me; 4th, 5th and 4th in 3 years plus 2 fa cup semis and a cl quarter final you've have to be an idiot to didagree with that. Just imagine if levy had bought the players 'arry wanted too.
Wow! I have been avoiding reading the funny pages since Saturday to avoid the avalanche of negativity I knew would follow such a dire performance. And it was a bad game for us, but give Norwich credit...they know they can beat us at the Lane and didn't it show on the pitch?!
I enjoyed your piece a lot, Spooky. Lots of LOL there! The 'cataclysm' indeed! Let's raid Reading in January...we might need to if this trend persists...
I really hope that this confidence 'gap' gets closed soon, because it is so demoralizing seeing the lads running around with that 'deer in the headlights' look they get as the last ten minutes approach. Unfortunately, you have to win a few games for that to occur. I'm hoping it happens soon, because my Fantasy Football team is predicated on good Spurs results and that isn't working too well for me...
By the way...has anybody got a good second-hand TV for sale? Or do you know how to safely remove a TV remote from the screen in which it is embedded? How did the last 5 minutes of the game go BTW?
COYS boys!
as Harry said on MOTD .... we'll be in the top 4 when the season finishes, give the transition a little time. I trust AVB as I do Levy. Yes we all wanted Moutihno - it never happened so get over it. I'm liking Dembele, for me he has more to offer than Modric and Dempsey could be a real bargain. I've never been a massive fan of Modric, dont get me wrong I think he's a quality player but his game is not that of a £30m+ player ... sorry I don't care what you say, yes we made the top 4 with him but we never made the Champions League with him last season (because of the Modric transfer saga...maybe) but overall we just didn't finish off the season well and ended up losing out to Chelsea ....Modric wanted to leave and made this quite clear so best to sell him (abroad) and get the right price for the club .... at least we didn't do a Wenger and sell the club captain, sorry club legend to the worst club you could possibly sell him to ... when Sol went to Arsenal that did sting somewhat but RVP to United....OUCH, and to rub salt in the start he's made and for £20m....what a bargain and a steel....WOW....hats off to Alex....I know so many gooners that are just distraught right now I actually feel for them - truthfully this wears off very quickly and I can only smile and giggle at this :-) .... but hey back to Spurs, I love my club and only have one more thing to say .... COYS
I don't think that AVB will succeed, he said that he was aware of the mistakes he made with Chelsea, and would not repeat them with Spurs, and what does he do? Exactly the same again, breaking up Harry's team for the sake of it. Harry wasn't perfect, but he was streets ahead of AVB
My Portuguese gardener told me that AVB was useless at Porto, and very lucky with what he achieved there, which wasn't necessarily all down to him, he talked a good talk and wrote detailed reports on opposing teams, but he was not a man manager like Harry, and, just as he did at Chelsea, he makes stupid substitutions.
I say use some of the money saved with not buying Moutinho to pay AVB off before it's too late!
I.Love.Spuds - so what you're saying is that we only have a right to follow a winning team and should turn our backs when the going gets tough?
This article wouldnt be written had spurs defeated Norwich.
Agreed, selling Rafa was a mistake. Hey,but remember Arsenal last season?
Keep calm and trust AVB :)
From watching the opening 3 games there are some worrying traits, that granted it is early days, but if they are not resolved this will be a long season.
1. Defoe cannot play up on his own. He is just not strong enough and means that possesion is always lost when played up to him, meaning we are not reaching dnager areas and cannot break teams down.
2. We are not creating chances. Linked to point 1 about the dnager areas, we are reliant on Defoe speculating with long range shots rather than creating clear cut chances. Ade coming back in and being fit will hopefully change the style of play.
3. Defending. Linked to points 1 and 2. If we are not creating chances and scoring then we need to be strong at the back. The mistakes that crept into the Norwich and WBA game looked ominous. We had chances to clear the ball for both of the goals. Its simple maths, if you dont score and then concede we will lose games.
4. Dont switch Bale and Lennon. Granted yes it mixes things up but both should stick to their respective flanks. Until the Defoe situation is sorted then they will continue to get frustrated as we are not using them in positions high up the filed to hurt teams.
5. Back AVB. It is nervous times at the moment. I feel for AVB becuase he knows the football world is watching how this pans out, seeing if he cocks up. The fans have to realistic. This is a new era, an exciting time if we let it be. Yes players have left, but we still have the spine of the team that was here last year. Modric was always going to leave. Is he really a world beater? He never really grabbed a game by the scruff of the neck like say a Gerarrd or RVP, and stamped his authority. Van da Vaart?? He only last 60 mins each game.......he also created his own problems. He always came too deep for the ball instead of playing high up the pitch, leaving the striker isolated. Yes he popped up with important goals but he also frustrated. dempsey is an all round more complete player, scores goals and works for the team tirelessly. Dembele, again an all round athlete, maybe not as crafty as a Modric but he offers more in terms of a goal threat and team workrate.
In summary, lets see what our first 11 works out to be. AVb should be given time, not just until Xmas. if we were to change managers again this would only end up in another transition, more time wasted. As for harry, he had his time. He royally f*cked things upm last year, no pressure of european football to worry about each week......all he had to concentrate on was top 4......to blow that points gap we had over Arsenal was unforgivable.
Onwards and upwards. COYS!!
I'm going to give him a chance it's still early in the season. But my worry is when AVB went to Chelsea he played the same system, result, they struggled to score goals. Now at Spurs nothing looks like changing, we also look like were going to struggle to score goals. 1 up front, No creative Rafa or Modric. Let's be honest Gulfi is a poor man's Rafa just younger. THIS IS NOT PORTUGAL WERE NOT PLAYING WEAK ASS TEAMS EVERY WEEK. The only way I see this changing is if he drops his system and play's 4-4-2 But I don't think that's going to happen. I'm thinking of taking a trip to the bookies, sacked in January and the saviour Happy Harry back in the hot seat after watching DL begging on his knees for 3 hours. BUT FOR NOW HIS GOT MY SUPPORT, JUST!
"By the way...has anybody got a good second-hand TV for sale? Or do you know how to safely remove a TV remote from the screen in which it is embedded? How did the last 5 minutes of the game go BTW?"
LOL...... My 6 year old was lucky enough to be just out of reach when Norwich scored.... though my sofa took a thorough pounding.
My bad spooky. More the manner in which you highlighted it that I took issue with. We, and levy just have to accept that this year is going to be difficult but I'm still confident in what VB is building, sadly the boo boys will always boo unless we win
Well where do I begin...I think will start by asking why some Chelsea fans have suddenly put Spurs shirts on and got a season ticket in the South Stand this season!! The booing is making my Spurs viewing pleasure untenable, let alone AVB's position. You can't expect a new manager to walk into a new club, with new players, trying to implement new tactics and formations and then win every game from the word go! You are an arse if you think true success happens immediately. Why don't those idiot boo boys in the South Stand try managing, then they might learn something.
Next point, we have fans who either:
- hate Harry and now love AVB to the death, and back Levy.
- love Harry and hate AVB, along with Levy who took the decision to sack Harry.
- Hate Harry and love AVB, but still hate Levy for his decisions...
These splinter groups are giving me a headache! Why don't all fans like that just shut up, back the team whether they win or lose, back the chairman for not financially letting this club go under and back the manager WHOEVER HE IS, so that we still have a club to support at all!!. I knew the recent honeymoon years we had would give most a heightened but more volatile sense of expectation and entitlement, which would become more sensitive if we lost than past years when we expected these kinds of results. However, I didn't expect us to do what Chelsea do and boo profusely whenever they had a duff result, which for us since Newcastle AWAY, has NOT BEEN A LOSS!!! We drew the last two games, not lost. Yes they were under identically frustrating circumstances, but Rome wasn't built in a day and Billynick didn't build his double-winning squad in one year!!
These letters shouldn't be compared to some literal template of what constitutes satire and sarcasm. They are meant to be flawed, tinged with a little hypocrisy and contradictory statements because they are based on what a certain minority (soon to be majority?) of Spurs fans think and say. Some of the content are actual quotes, direct quotes. I'm only as good as my source material and in this case my source material is a melting pot of melters.
Oh noes! I've gone and given the game away!
You know what's more disturbing? The fact I'm getting emails from people congratulating me on being so up front and honest and saying it as it is. These supporters are taking it straight-lace serious, word for word. I don't know what that says really but I suppose it shows that when people blindly believe in something they will consume anything, regardless of its insanity, to aid with consolidating that belief.
I'm Gregory Peck.
You know what ! at the end of the day what matters is us Spurs fans being able to discuss our differences fairly, not taking abuse amongst ourselves.
The game against Norwich enraged me, and although I did not boo, I was well pissed off with AVB'S tactics.
Fu(k all this shit..Going to see the next generation game against Barcelona. Hope the youngsters do us proud. COYS
What block you in for the NextGen game?
We sold our two best passers of the ball and who did we replace them with? Dembele is good but is he really as good a passer as Modric or VDV?
And is AVB really a good tactician? If so, why did he make the same mistake twice in two games? Spurs led one nil two games in a row then he got afraid and took off centreforward and put in midfielder to try to win only 1:0 at home and we drew twice.
spurs best work for years was in the champions league, our performances were amazing, we shocked everyone! the main quality was the football played between bale, modric, vdv and bae. all 4 of these players linked up to be world class. rednap was well on the ball then, he lost interest in tottenham, modric lost interest in tottenham, vdv lost interest in tottenham. This was the best we have been since premiership began.
its unfortunate what happened with rednap, but we didnt move forward from here, we cashed in and went backwards. we have had top class players interested in coming to us, but levy kicked up a fuss about them coming and then crashed the deals knowing these players would cost him.
people who keep praising Levy in the name of what loyal great fans they think they are, need to learn a bit about business and what he stands for. avb was brought in. he says he needs mourtino. levy crashed the deal as he realised he wasnt cheap. now if we dont perform it will be avb who gets blamed and the bullet. Rednapp put up with levy because he is a business man himself and understands its just a business.
Spurs is a business people and all you "get behind the shirt, while levy gets rich" dickheads are just pawns in the business, the laborours of the building site! wake up you mugs, we got done over in this window and went backwards! again!
i will still stand tall and get behind my team as always, but i wont pull my pants down and bend over either! we need to make the club aware that we are not all stupid hot dog munchers who know nothing about the goings on and the shirt deserves better!!! but you mugs go singing the name and getting behind the team as we slowly deteriorate and weaken our team. ill still be proud and loyal spurs fan if we are in championship.. but i wont celebrate it as it happens!!!! mugs
and thank you spunky for giving every other team in the world something to laugh at us about ..its not just the team that needs support its some fans that are worried too..what a pri*k
AND IT'S ARRRRRSSSSSSEEEENNNNNAAAALLLLL
ARSENAL FC

Block 16 spooky row 2 wast stand, allocated for the 1882 podcast . Missed the Charlton game, wish I went to it Spooky.
I hope this article is toungue-in-cheek.
Club, team and manager need some time to evolve. Mr Levy seldom puts a foot wrong and I believe he has the clubs best interests at heart.
