New leaked image of proposed Spurs Stratford stadium

Exclusive.

I've managed to get hold of an exclusive 'leaked' ITK mock-up of what the Olympic Site redevelopment will look like if Daniel Levy and the club win the bid and progress with their plans. Exclusive. Not sure how much time I have before this blog article will be removed on advisement from my solicitors. Will fight the THFC lawyers and their court injunctions for as long as I can. I've also included the descriptions of the proposed additions to the area surrounding the OS which was included as part of the stolen image pack.

1  - Chirpy Towers. To dare is to Cock-a-doodle-doo do do do. Visit the state of the art Spurs Shop and enjoy delightful Michelin quality three course meals in Chirpy's slow rotating head allowing you to enjoy the amazing view of Canary Wharf and Newham, including our deadly rivals home ground; Upton Park. The exclusive Chirpy's EyeBalls penthouse dinner rooms can be booked in advance (premium required) where you can watch the whole game whilst sat at your table...if you prefer to avoid the hustle and bustle of the crowds down below.

2  - The World Famous Home of Stratford Hotspur® and Nandos. The Nandos Stadium. Our new sponsor and club badge thanks to a multi-million pound long term deal means you'll never go hungry for football...or chicken! You can find Nandos outlets inside the stadium and be sure to order the 'take it to your seat*' bucket before the game kicks off (*take it to the seat meal deal only includes a medium coke, for large coke, extra £4 charge, fries not inclusive). The controversial inclusion of red in the stadium name and team shirts is nothing to worry about. Remember, we wore red in our badge back in 1882/83 and a red shirt between 1890-1896. Both the replicas of these shirts are soon to be available in the club shop with our new clothing tagline: Hot for Spurs and proud of our heritage.

3  - Stratford Hotspur®. Home is where the Strat® is, and Spurs is stratting it's hot stuff all over North (eastish) London. You voted to move and we've embraced our local community, repaying their hospitality with a gentle nod of approval to our new surroundings. Location? Geography? Booooring. Why tie ourselves down to a place or a name when the Spurs brand is worldwide?

9  - Harry Hotspur statue. Remaining true to our rich heritage, included on the grounds is an amazing tour de force iconic bronze talking statue of seasoned traveller and warrior entrepreneur Harry Hotspur, who looks East towards Upton Park with menace and an ever so subtle hint of marching fearless into battle. Listen to him sing 'Glory Glory Stratford Hotspur' (debit card charge of £5 per chorus) and point towards deepest West Ham territory. The epitome of glory and progression standing the test of time, a true echo to our past that also retains a place in the future much like Hotspur's legacy that has enriched Northumberland, Tottenham and now Stratford.

All other season ticket holders, club members and tickets purchased via general sale and on the day - please head towards Stratford station with plenty of time to spare to avoid congestion.

12 - Canary Wharf. Majestic, just majestic! The amazing backdrop on the horizon that will light up the sky on those Glory Glory nights making them that extra special.

Footnote:

You'll note all the Chirpy heads that are located around the ground. They crow if we win, and sing 'Can't smile without you' if we lose. Making sure we are pampering the emotive side of your journey into our world class arena experience. Directions to local shopping centres and words from our sponsors are also subliminally whispered from his beak.

Also, to commemorate the move to the new stadium and the soon to be concluded deal that will see AEG purchase the club and a proposed future franchise merger with LA Galaxy, Daniel Levy will present to loyal Spurs supporters a Monolith at the first home game to be played in Stratford as a thank you and a remainder of services rendered.

Chubb, Pretty happy although its not signed and sealed just yet.

I would have agreed with you prior to levy playing hardball with my emotions as a Tottenham Hotspur fan. If he finds a solution in North London, ill forgive him.

If not and he tries to move us out of North London then he wont be on my Christmas card list, thats all Im saying.

I'm sure he'll be devastated. ;)

Re-open talks for wembley stadium anyone?

Now the government has conceded that the FA actually has no ability to exert influence over the premier league, they would allow us to enter dialogue if only on the basis that we forgo any thoughts of a judicial review on the OS decision.

It might be north west london, but at least it's still north.

Any takers? It's even got Levy's beloved 'Corporate Suites' already set up and waiting for prawn sandwiches!

Lol. One thing that has bugged through this whole process if im honest is how the NDP has increased so much to the point of becoming unviable. Hopefully we can now know how/why this has happened? Commonsense suggests if you are prudent and profitable through a recession (like we clearly have been) that, that would be the time to build. Surely it should get cheaper, interest rates are lower, you get away with paying a workforce a lot less!

Non-viable is Levy's way of saying he has a preferred alternative.

Chubb, someone involved in property suggested to me that it wasn't so much that the cost of the project has increased, it's the cost of the money that has caused the problem. The scheme was initially developed at a time when property prices were still on the increase and money was in reasonable circulation from lenders. Now, banks aren't even lending to each other - let alone a football club who are hoping that their development will raise the value of the surrounding area to guarantee their borrowing through the land the ground occupies. Even the naming rights would only go so far as to cover this. 'They' got £100m for Effeminates in a boom and by being 2 mins walk from the trendy bars of Upper Street. Genius as Levy is at sponsorship, I don't think 'Your name here' next to Chick King in the High St is going to plug that kind of gap.

I would offer that in the current market 'non-viable' might mean 'Preferring not to commit financial suicide'.

He did seem to go completely all egg's into one basket though, to the point of no return. I dont think he would consider moving us out of Tottenham for anything less than an 8 figure sum. Some how it is cheaper to build 2 stadiums in other parts of London (with 8 figures left over???) than to build one in Tottenham. The worlds gone fucking mental! What am I missing? lol

OS would have been a 'clean site' near enough with all the groundwork done. The cost of the building could have been guaranteed by the value of the land WHL was standing on and left some change, especially if it was sold to a developer to do the renovation. The recycled parts from the OS were to be used in the development of Crystal palace, which wasn't so much a build as a renovation.

When you think about the OS site, the cost is £500m but only £80m of that is the part that was 'going', that means the development of the site itself (Even taking into account the Velodrome etc.) was the lions share of the cost. Whatever 'plan B' we choose has to factor that in and that I think is where the 'smoking gun' of viability comes in.

Some would say 'well, drop the hotels & stuff from the plan' but it was having that stuff that generated long-term revenue on the site and brings the investment revenue in. Investing in a football ground is about as risk-free as hang-gliding and lucrative as shove ha'penny otherwise.

There's no doubt he made a committed case - But then I guess he had to. I'm sure there's a fully-costed plan B in the locker but I doubt we'll see it before the end of this season... At least until the legal wrangles are through.

I believe Levy about as far as I can throw him but he's done better for us more often than not - And I'd hate this to turn into an argument about him or getting rid of him.

Actually construction inflation is still on the march, steel prices are soaring, impact of china's mass market demand, the global monopoly of manufacturers and australian floods on production costs, fuel price rises, middle east uncertainty, etc, etc, etc.

NDP also invoved a link up with a hotel and retail outlet to assist with financing the proposition, both of which are market sectors that are very price sensitive, and cutting investment in 'UK plc' until they see what the country will look like in 2/3 years time. Hence 'now not viable' is probaly not too far off the mark.

And there we all were thinking that stadiums were about football!

Still comes down to brass tacks.

Shame really.

Jumpers for goalposts anyone, hmm, isn't it.

Quote DY: Desperate actions of a Wet Sham board to use the media, a last throw of the dice in a vain attempt to regain momentum that has recently shifted in favour of the THFC bid.

I can remember seeing articles from Telegraph and BBC stating that "leaks" were coming out of FIFA that England had won the World Cup bid... and we know all too well what happened there. Pure speculation from a bunch of jokers.

Cheap PR tactics from cheap individuals.

Sorry but I just can't see those unprofessional chancers winning it, their bid simply doesn't stack up.

- Its official now mate : )

Feb 11, 2011 at 12:35 PM | Unregistered CommenterYidal

why was THFC invited to make a bid when the criteria was already decided?...with its flaws supported regardless??........the club is being insulted from all political angles and harringey and now the sports minister will do nothing moneywise for spurs infrastructure requests .in comparison to other clubs etc......all the money this club has generated for the borough for over a century.........disgraceful public farce
