The Premier League is swaying like a drunk smashed out of his skull

Morning. I know this is off topic, but hey, I pay the bills so I can do as I wish. Everyone see the legend that is the anti-hero Emmanuel Adebayor (Manchester City and Togo) sitting being interviewed wearing an Arsenal training top? It was on SSN yesterday and I'm sure you've all seen the photo by now. It's almost as funny as Judas turning out for the scum's reserves last night. Best place for him. The cesspool was missing a swamp thing, but let's not get side-tracked with the man who was obviously created as part of a dark experiment from the DNA of Benedict Arnold and Judas Iscariot.

I sent out the screen-grab of Ade to some work mates who had not seen this gem of a tv appearance. And got a response back from a Manchester Utd fan that made me smile. Seems the photo inspired him to rant (well, side-track the discussion thread) about Utd's biggest rivals. That's City by the way. According to City fans.

I guess we all hate United, you know, cause they've always got the ref on their side (cough) and always dick us but everyone likes to hate City. And why not? There is plenty of hate to go round and their Chelseaesque manner of progression is unnerving to most. In fact, not to spend too much time praising Chelsea, at least they were almost knocking on the door prior to Roman buying them up. City have practically puked £££ all over football in the hope greed wins the day and contracts are signed.

Not all of their fans are to be scoffed at. Definitely not the fans who feel they've been left soulless by the money poured into the club. More so the other twats who seem to be...well, rather than have it all repeated, I think the Utd fan covered it in his email perfectly:

Well, he’s at the right club now for such a despicable character! (in reference to Adebayor).

Getting sick of reading City fans updates on Facebook. They truly believe that they ‘stole’ Tevez from us and think he went to City for ‘footballing’ reasons and that United are a club in real trouble and likely to do a Leeds.

2 things

a) Tevez didn’t want to play for us – so he can f**k right off, along with anyone else who doesn’t - and didn’t fit in our system very well, too similar to Rooney. Suits their system well hence why he’s doing better. Although Berba isn’t hitting the heights, his touch is infinitely better than Tevez’s. His strengths are coming from deep with the ball at his feet – a la Rooney. Also – he’s not the first (or last I doubt) player to leave United and do better. Forlan left and was the Liga’s top scorer FFS!!!

b) United, like Liverpool, have too much history and hence too much support worldwide to ‘do a Leeds’. There will always be someone who would come in to buy them if things got really sticky as they are established brands and this is business (unfortunately). If the oil heads leave City they’re far more likely to ‘do a Leeds’ – seeing as their fan base stretches from Didsbury all the way to……Stockport.

To be honest, I’d quite like United to have a sustained period of underachievement and drop a division. Get rid of all the plastic fans and get tickets for reasonable prices again.

Rant over. Good night.

I don't mind seeing Utd struggle. If the definition of struggling is to be sat in the position they are sat now whilst competing in the Champions League. And in some ways its great that fans of other clubs (those pesky Sky Sports Top 4 clubs) are taking the time to look behind and notice the likes of us and City and the rest catching up as they slow down. It almost feels like the Premier League is swaying like a drunk smashed out of his skull. A little push and he'll fall, but if you just leave him, he might just fall over anyway. An Arsenal ticket season holder (sitting opposite me) was saying how his team looked completely disinterested against Everton. He doesn't buy the hype about his clubs ambitions either. It's the media hyping up who they consider to be worth hyping up that has everyone confused. In fact nobody is looking worthy at the minute, which means their is a huge (massive Jamie Redknapp would say) possibility that something epically unexpected might happen this season. Unless one of the usual suspects has a mug of strong black coffee and sobers up quick sharp.

I LOL'ed plenty the other morning when the press all claimed they could win the title (in with a shout at the very least). What, after beating Blackburn Rovers? I guess our 3-0 win over them doesn't matter because it was under Mark Hughes and not under their new messiah. You know, the one that wears a City scarf because he believes in The Project©. We are one point behind City. Are we also title challengers? Like I said I know some City fans are unhappy that success might come in this fashion (Arab billions). The others are too busy having tattoos of Messi done on their backs in preparation for his arrival this summer.

I hate Utd. But I like Utd's hatred of City. Mainly because of the way some of their fans have been giving it, vocally. Delusions of grandeur. It's a tag that is usually associated with us. Perhaps I'm as bitter as the Utd fan above who ranted, because we sort of know that thanks to the cracks that have appeared at the top, someone like City is actually that bit closer to their dream. And if they're intolerable now, God forbid how they'll be if they actually won it.

Oh, and the world would implode if we ever got our hands on it. But we all know for all the money we've spent, we've never got close. Nowhere near. But at least our souls, those overly abused tired souls thanks to years of transitional seasons, remain intact. Just about.

Off-topic over and out.

Back later with an update on Spurs. If there are any worthy news items to chat about. Other than the usual Sandro nonsense. And the stories that have us wondering if Harry is about to be pulled into a long running court case that would make his position as manager...ah, let's not even go there.

anyone who slags off City for spending money is a deluded hypocrite. For Utd fans to do it, is laughable in the extreme. For Spurs fans to do it, well, doesn't bother me either as Spurs have spent big for countless seasons. Apparently there's an invisible line on "spending big" which City have crossed "apparently". So all the millions spent by Arsenal, Utd, Chelsea and Spurs all this time has been "ok" but City have now dragged the league into the sillyosphere? Again, laughable. Supported City for 36 years (ok, maybe not for the first few of those, being a baby and all), we've been sh1t for most of that time, but now loving it. Loving Utd fans wetting themselves with dread, loving cockney wide-boys beside themselves with envy. Slght fear that the owners may lose interest at some point and drop us like a stone, but hey, that's the risk. And if they don't? We'll win shed loads and you load of no-hopers will be left muttering into your blogs about how soulless football has got.

Lilywhitemike - You ever had the pleasure of going to Eastlands or WHL when playing City? Their fans were arrogant pissheads when they were shit and more so now. Remember how the media perceive us? City fans seem to have a free pass at the moment. Not sure any of you should be taking this article seriously. Its light reading, poking fun. People reactign the way they are reacting is making me laugh far more.

I have to say that this transfer window has turned more into a question who can aford to buy, and what exactly is a player worth these days?

With Liverpool citing that their debts 'aren't as bad as man u' as justification for a sound base to their debt, it does make you wonder if the clubs have cottoned onto the fact that financially a lot of people are screwed and wll be for years and so prudence in running hte business side of things is maybe not a bad idea.

Still, maybe we should all just meet up outside Bill Nic Way and have a ruck with the accountants instead of wondering if our club will ever actually build the new stadium or buy any players or if the season ticket prices wll stay the same for next season?

That is assuiming that we could get there in hte first place, having overcome the myriad of Health and Safety barriers and bureaucracy that by now must exist clearly to prevent us from having an accident on the property of THFC PLC.

Mok - BTW, not sure if they still do it, but try the remmington fuzzaway. That should clear the auditory canals to assist in listening to the spendour of the (formerly known as) Chas & Dave.

i'm very clever -

deal with it. it happened with chelsea its happening with you. clubs who go from nothing to within touching distance simply thanks to foreign investment from billionaires. spurs, as a business, make their money and spend it. never always on the right player, sometimes on the right players. it simply irks some fans. it irked everyone when chelsea did it. the very fact that you might within a few seasons when clubs like spurs have attempted to crack the top 4 for years is going to leave a bad taste in the mouths of many. jealously even. though we would not like to earn success in the same manner. spooky for all his subtle hasn't even made a in your face statement, he's danced around it, probably just to incite a few discussions from differing fans.

the fact you think Utd fans are worried about you is probably the same reason they are laughing at you.

nice chatting to you.

NOT BITTER AT ALL THERE LAD LOL :-) .Me thniks someone is still upset at missing out on Barry, Tevez, Viera???!!! Didn't mind spuds till I read that as a good footballing team and till a few weeks ago I thought they would be getting that 4th spot but now I just thnk your a tit mate. the thing I don't get is ...........Have the spuds spent much money over the last few years???? YES!!! We got ripped on santa cruz but you did with Bentley my friend. So spends wise you have a pretty similar record to us! Apart from we bought a few bigger names than you, thats all. The thing with you investment is that up to the 13/01/2010 it aint worked sunshine so stop being so bitter, chill your beans and have a think of what you actually just wrote (are you a scummer in disguise???)

and you deserved your 3-0 win the other week but believe me Mancinis Maestros wont be letting the same thing happen again.

Jan 13, 2010 at 3:04 PM | Unregistered CommenterCTID1982

A Spurs fan accusing other teams of having delusions of grandeur? That's the funniest thing I've read all week. Thanks!

'and you deserved your 3-0 win the other week but believe me Mancinis Maestros wont be letting the same thing happen again'

look at the games u lot have had under Mancini, u would have won them if you had Bob Monkhouse as manager u northern muggy lil prick!

Fuck me, do you City fans know how to read sentences rather than just picking out words, you daft gets!

Jan 13, 2010 at 3:11 PM | Unregistered CommenterKingofKings

You should have signed Mourinho, Mancini i feel won't deliever, but its still early days I may be proved wrong. I've got nothing against City fans, infact one of my mates supports city. But even he will tell you he'd have rather done it the old fashioned way and worked their way up the table than spend 30m on players that don't really want to be there for footballing reasons. I can accept that Spurs have spent A LOT of money over the past few years and its not always paid off. But every now and then we have found a player and sold them on for much more than we bought. Now we are at a stage where we have a decent squad that only need tweaking and quality in depth and we might be going places. It feels good to see things starting to come together. When I look at City bringing in these "big names" I just think what is the reason for them joining.....Adebayor summed it up yesterday by wearing the shirt of the team he really wants to still play for. Either that or City have got his size in at the mo. I say good luck to City and Villa. As long as one of us hopefuls does it this season I'll be quietly satisfied providing Spurs are there or there abouts at the end of the season. Plus it means that the face of the Premiership is changing and the "top 4" will hopefully begin to disolve and it will be more open. An open premiership would be much more exciting than last season for example, which is why this season has been great so far.

Forgive me if I'm missing something here but how have so many city fans stumbled upon a blog about spurs called dearmrlevy.com? I've never understood that.

I met a city fan in Spain this year. He had to be one of the most bitter individuals I've ever met. Kept trying to convince me that Wayne Rooney was shit. For a brief moment I saw how our hatred of gooners must seem from an outside perspective. My girlfriends dad is also a city fan. He's none too happy about me taking his little princess down the park lane a few weeks ago for the Peterborough match.

Manchester used to be half full of arrogant pricks. Now it's completely full.

Jan 13, 2010 at 4:01 PM | Unregistered CommenterFox Mulder

Must be missing something. Spooks has written a very light hearted article, hardly saying much at all by his own admission. I guess it just proves how precious everyone is about their club.

As for the City fans, enjoy it. It wont last. It'll end in tears and when you return to mediocrity again at least you'll have something to look back on.

My my my, this is certainly a hate filled article directed at Man City and because i pay the fucking bill i thought why not, fuck it lets write a totally wastefull and derogotive article overstepping the line of envy and jealousy slap a little bit of propaganda in there, mix it up with some brainless self asserting views and post it on a blog page.
Fucking cotneys, just as bad if not worse than a scouser sporting a mullett and trackies always contemplating his next handbag and carwindow never concerned where it comes from or who they try and step on to get it. I think you should just concentrate on your own team of violets rather than writing bullshit articles about others, clearly it must be rather fucking boring supporting Spurs if this is all you can do with your time.

Im one Spurs fan who welcomes the competition so fair play to City, if someone was to come along and offer us lots of money we would do the same and you know we would. Someone needs to break in to the top4 hopefully its us but I'll take anyone just to break it up and make it interesting again.

Love it.

Call it the struggle against inertia. Or the Sky Sports Big 4. The league might need a sheik up. Yes, money coming from outside sources instead of the club's revenue seems grotesque. Citeh have stolen the lightening rod mantle from Spurs and their fans are getting just as delusional. If the usual plot continues there will be a last gasp failure and a relentless kicking by the media.

I don't hate Citeh. And I'd even bet we take all 6 points from them; I just hope we finish one place higher.

first i clear i am life-long spurs fan, doesnt matters what happens in future and how big a club spends there will b only three massive clubs in england(also global status considered) namely manchester united , it hurts but arsenal and liverpool and after these three giants comes the great clubs like spurs ,villa and everton.clubs like chelsea and city were shit, tiny and hollow without any fanbase, history or tradition and doesnt matter with how much success they buy with money they cant buy history and a natural status of being called great and big club like spurs.

Hi. just stumbled across this site yesterday and i have to say im impressed. I normally avoid chatrooms/forums etc like the plague, being as they are full of morons, but the author of these atricles is surprisingly spot on regarding most things.

However, i have to pull you up on one thing. I know its not the right thread, but i have to say im amazed that there is this apparent 'division' among spurs fans about the form of Tom Huddlestone. It's totally ridiculous, and im sad to say is indicative of the general attitude of (even intelligent) football fans. The attitude seems to be that unless someone hares around the pitch at top speed for 90 minutes, then they are not trying, and a waste of space. I hear people complaining that he doesn't run around and hammer people as much as Palacious. Consider for a second the possibility that Radknapp has actually told him to behave in this manner.

It would be stupid, and counter-productive to have him behave like that. Its not his job. Ok, so look at Micheal Essien. He tears round the pitch like a flippin cyborg. but the point is, that without his brilliant passing and reading of the game, all that running around would be pretty redundant. he'd just be zokora. or jenas. Both of those players may have superb engines, but without the brains to efficiently distribute the ball, you are worth very little. Huddlestone does not waste the ball. his passing, which he makes look very easy, is top level. Alonso level. Did you see alonso tearing round the pitch? No, because there is no point.Ditto Carrick. Movement off the ball isnt about running all over the place. its about finding space. huddlestone has found plenty of space this season, and he has used it very effectively.

to the impartial observer, Huddlestone has been clearly 'better' than palacios this season. He has achieved a very consistent level of performance. yes, we need the running and hammertime of palacious, but his passing has been too wayward for my liking. But because palacious is the 'heart on sleeve' type, all the criticism gets loaded onto huddy. It's like a mental block that british football fans have. we (not me obv) seem pre-programmed to get aroused at the sight of someone running fast. I even remember berbatov getting some right slaggings because he didnt run around like alan smith.

I'm fully aware that in the prem, and especially in the midfield, you need to have everything in your locker, in terms of technique and physicality. Huddlestone will, in my opinion, quickly become a complete midfielder. this is really his first run of 2-3 months at least in the side. His improvement has been pretty staggering. I would also say that in 1-2 years time huddlestone will be a vastly superior player to palacios. I know all fans need a scapegoat, but really the first team has been beyond reproach for much of the season. i would go as fas as to say that huddlestone has been one of the most consistent and quality performers. You can't really teach thre outrageous technique he has. you can, however, teacvh fitness, strength, and positioning.

In short, and i know this has been a bit rambling, but if you compare huddlestone to jenas (a genuine waste of space) then you don't know what you're on about! sorry but its true.
