Can we do it on a wet, windy Wednesday night in Carlisle?

Carlisle (League One), away, Milk Cup.

Rotation, rotation, rotation. Caulker, Dawson, Huddlestone and Townsend to come in, right? Dempsey to get another start to sharpen his touch. We're facing Chris Foy and Mark Clattenburg this weekend so [cliché]we need to rest key players[/cliché] and brace ourselves for the catalyst that will no doubt lead to another apologetic capitulation at the Theatre of Nightmares. Although arguable, the likes of Bale and Sigurðsson could do with some uplifting moments to bolster their belief. So Dembele could sit out and Siggy might have the opportunity to kick-start his mojo. We're still missing a fair few players which means one or two will have to be risked. Although Brad will no doubt sit it out. Is this game the right time for Lloris second appearance? Would we really be surprised to see Carlo between the sticks? Probably not. We won't. Others might.

I'm out this evening recording the podcast so here's hoping to another Villas-Boas touchline punch-celebration in drenched suit (has it stopped raining yet?) with Freund just behind him jumping up into the air looking all goofy and giddy.

This is all I've got. I promise to try harder in the next round. If we get there.

We're gonna get there right?

Almost as interesting as the personnel on show tonight is the formation we're going to use.
Do we stick with the 442 which worked better in the second half at the weekend or keep with "the project" using different players?
My guess is another go at 4231 with "Deuce" at the pointy end.

Shame Lloris isn't playing but on the assumption those reported injured, are, I'll go with:

Cudicini:

Smith, Dawson, Caulker, Fredricks;
Falque, Mason, Huddlestone, Siggurtson, Livermore;
Dempsey;

Gotta keep those standards high (or at least higher than our league position)

Sep 26, 2012 at 3:34 PM | Unregistered CommenterRichard

Cuddicini

Mason-Dawson-Caulker-Vertonghen

Townsend-Carroll-Thudd-Dempsey

Siggy

Defoe

Gotta keep Defoe rolling, so he plays until we're safe. Maybe Lancaster to finish? Jan and Dempsey will get pulled in the second half too. I don't think Lloris plays because he starts on Sunday against the Mancs. Brad looked a little ponderous last week and I think Lloris will get a look in.

Now...time to find a crappy live-streaming site that wont cripple my laptop with Viruses...

A stroll in the park... No injuries and a clean sheet.

On a negative Anderson looked good Rooney is back & Darren Fletcher is back...

Sigardson still looks out of sorts which surprises me as of all the signings. He is most used to this style of football... Team as a whole looks like it is gelling however 5 points for our next 3 games will be a real result.

My prediction For Saturday will be a 2-0 loss off the back of our seasons best performance, a disallowed goal and at least one dubious Manc goal and another wonder strike whilst we are well on top.

I say this as I always walk into this game with optimism so this time if I go in fearing the normal then maybe the opposite will happen'!!!!!!,

I'm not happy about the Hugo Lloris situation. Mark my words, Friedel will retire at the end of the season, disgruntled Hugo Lloris and Gomes will ask to depart (and so they should) and we will be left with the ambitionless Carlo Cudicini as a substitute to the worlds worst goalkeeper ever....Paul Robinson.

AVB and Levy have got this one wrong. What does it say to other "internationals" whom we may seek to recruit in the future. Lloris is a big name and others will be watching. And who is to say he cant make the "saves" that Brad 'dino' Friedel is making at the moment?

AVB's man-management skills and ability to determine whats important for the future will be put to test by this situation.

@ Ronnie
Lloris & Gomes Will ask to leave and so they
should ??? Ronnie you are overreacting, this
is a non issue. Lloris fully understand that he
has to wait his turn. Friedel has been outstanding,
AVB is reconicing this and are in fact showing
respect toward a player well deserved. This is
ManManagement in the highest degree!

Allan...

Lloris is the French no. 1. He is regarded as being among the top 5 goalkeepers in the Europe. We got him from Lyon...not some first division club like West Ham...

I'm sure the reasons for his great reputation - and the £12 million transfer fee - was a result of outstanding performances too.

What has he done to prove he can't make those saves that Friedel makes...or even do better and not concede in every game (like Friedel does)?

Most importantly...Friedel looks really old! He really really does! He's 10years older than our manager for goodness sakes! His instincts are not as they used to be and the goals we concede could be saved by someone with quicker reactions. He needs to let go and give others a chance.

We've always been too sentimental with keepers. Friedel is playing his record 310th consecutive EPL game and we want to help him in his recordmaking. I remember with absolute horror the days of Paul Robinson. Robbo used to concede with almost every shot. He was a living nightmare (watch the 4-5 NLD if you disagree)- practically got Martin Jol the sack - but somehow he never got dropped. If it wasn't for Ramos and Redknapp, its us and not Blackburn that Robinson would have relegated.

We have to start putting the longterm interests of Tottenham Hotspur first and that means keeping our future goalie happy and in form. Not building up Brad Friedel's EPL consecutive games record.

Friedel inevitably gets hammered by ManUre and bobs-yer-uncle Lloris starts the next game. Or Friedel has a stormer knowing he has to win to keep his spot. I think AVB knows plenty about man management.

LoLproductions, and COYS1882, I can't get which tune these words about Jan Vertonghen go to. Can you explain? That may get more people singing it. What's the song?

Sep 27, 2012 at 7:26 PM | Unregistered CommenterCaptainYid

The same tune as pavs song captain yid
Don't know the name of the song but it's a commonly used tune

Sep 27, 2012 at 7:42 PM | Unregistered CommenterCoys1882

Captain Yid.

I never heard the Pav song but I would guess the tune is " When johnny comes marching home"
