Niko, why you mad?

Quotes via the Daily Mirror. Let's assume nothing has been lost in translation, which is the usual get-out clause for wordy ranting.

Kranjčar has accused Levy of being a liar and breaking his promise to sell Luka this summer and also guilty of condemning the players behaviour (failure to turn up to training/US tour). Niko also backs 'the strike' (what strike? the one where he ends up back in training?)

Here's the quotes:

"I know that the chairman talked to him face to face last autumn. He promised Luka he would let him go, and now he's condemning him.

Levy did everything to protect the interest of the club and make a profit. He has also used lies to deceive the public, which is allowed in business, but if you were in Luka's shoes, you would probably do the same as him".

Okay, so firstly, Levy is the chairman of Tottenham Hotspur and leads ENIC and as much as you and me might not wish to perceive football as a business, it is. Profit is what drives the club forward to be able to build and develop, both structurally and on the pitch. Protecting the interest of the club? That's why he's the chairman Niko. Promising Luka can leave is hardly going to be a promise without one or two caveats. The main one being that any interested party must meet our valuation of OUR player. A player with four years left on his contract. Is there a cultural issue here with mathematics?

"To have an offer from Real Madrid is a once-in-a-career opportunity. I'd do anything to get to Santiago Bernabeu, playing for Real Madrid is the greatest privilege in any footballer's career, even if I prefer Barcelona. That's why I understand Luka"

Okay, so you just joined a club but you're sort of indirectly whoring yourself to the two biggest clubs in world football to prove why it's so important for Luka to play there? You can quite easily get to Santiago Bernabeu if you want. Book a flight, get a taxi. Have a look around, they do tours.

"In my three years at White Hart Lane, I never had lunch or a serious talk with the president. There was no need. It's not customary for bosses to invite you for a cup of coffee, even if you're their next-door neighbour like I was, in Cuffley. I know from my own experience how difficult these people are and how hard it is to break out of a contract with them"

Okay, so you didn't dunk your custard creams with Levy in his living room. What a monster of a human being he is. Evil, pure evil.

"Remember Berbatov? And it was the same with me: they held me back for two years, until finally my new club paid what they were asking, and not a pound less. That is their speciality: they set unreasonably high transfer demands, but the absurd thing is they always get what they ask for"

Berbatov? Hmm, yes, yes. I remember him. He's the fella that only signed for Spurs so that he could prove to Fergie he was good enough for Man Utd. Played a blinding first season, throw a strop in the first summer than orchestrated his escape via strike after his second season. That Berbatov right? I guess you want Tottenham to bend over for everyone and just hand over our 'best' players for tuppence because the players, the poor little players, are the victims in all this? Unreasonably high transfer demands? Either you rate your mate Luka (and yourself) or you don't. Make your mind up. We get what we ask for? That must mean that the buying club agrees with our valuation of the player because if they didn't they wouldn't sign him.

"Kiev is not London, but it is very good for city life, and the football teams are very strong. Dynamo Kiev is big on tradition and the fans, and though lots of people will say it's not like Tottenham, if you look at history, Dynamo Kiev is a bigger club than Spurs."

That's fair enough. It's what you believe and I wish you well. But never again will I lose myself in those dazzlingly eyes of yours. You slag.

Jog on niko. Forgetting about weasel and ratboy for a minute, did anyone hear Gomez say he only made one or two mistakes in 2010/11. The man is a complete liability

@Emmanuel
We are about the same size club as Chelsea were before Roman`s billions arrived.
That`s all there is to it. He doesn`t have to negotiate, but simply offer a larger fee and wage than the competition and it`s a done deal. Plus the lure of CL (also a direct result of huge investment).
Who do you consider the big clubs? United? L`arse? Don`t see them splashing out hugely.
Along with chavski, the only current big spenders are city. Those two clubs have something in common. I`ll leave you to fill in the blanks.
Given all that, but for one spawny result in Munich, it would be a very different landscape right now.

Jul 27, 2012 at 10:08 AM | Unregistered Commentermoe

Chelsea is not a bigger club than Spurs . The fan base is not bigger . Nobody cares about its chairman.who is he? Chelsea is a one man show the owner runs it like a middle age organisation. He is the boss, the pay master , the executive officer. He buys who he likes (he bought Torres without discussing it with whoever was the manager at the time, the same as when he bought Shevchenko).
What will happen to Chelsea when the owner gets tired, or become bankrupt or disappears one way or another?
Spurs is different. Spurs supporters are articulate. Spurs is a well run club . Sooner or later Spurs will have a bigger stadium and the 22, 000 people on the season ticket waiting list will be let in. Soon Spurs will be the biggest club in London again. Soon Spurs will be bigger than Real Madrid !

Niko Kranjčar,
What a pathetic statement, with comments and thoughts like that it is a wonder that any team would want you.
I certainly believe that Harry made the right choices for the team in the past and if that meant excluding you
then he must have thought you were not good enough.
RIP

Given the free fall of the Spanish economy and Spanish banks who underwrite Real Madrid debt, can real Madrid afford Madric?
Should Levy give a discount to Real M. now that they are poor?

Jul 27, 2012 at 10:21 AM | Unregistered CommenterSTATMAN

Before judging: where do these quote come from? Surely he didn't talk to that gooner John Cross directly... Need to see context (and correct translation) to form an opinion.

@STATMAN
If RM are struggling for cold cash they should negotiate dropping one of their assets into the bargain as has been mentioned previously. No, not a 34 year old portuguese defender.
The least noise on this is coming from RM. I get the feeling they would LIKE Modric, but don`t feel that they NEED him.
Modric needs to see where his bread is buttered right now.

Niko kranjcar: 13/08/84 - 26/07/2012

I have a dog, I love my dog. When I lived in TOTTENHAM my mate Errol and I were in Pymmes park with a dog named Toby. Toby could run for miles. Just as I was about to let Toby of his lead, Errol grabbed my arm and began to speak like a ventriloquist. 'wt r u doin, th Chieeees I'll hav im' Errol was obsessed about the Chinesse, and believed beyond doubt that the Chinesse couldn't help themselves from coaxing Unaccompanied dogs into blacked out vans. Several months later Errol felt that his suspicions were vindicated after the Metroplitain police raided the Chinesse Take Away on Sliver street, and found dogs in various states of prepriation. Was Errol being rasict, or was Errol shit scared of Chinesse eating his dog. I now know that not all Chinesse eat dogs, but not all Brits drink alcohol to the extent they need urgent medical attention, but we are judged to be a nation of binge drinking Neandertholics.

For those of you throwing stones at Iver, take a look at Balkan history, it's awash with sexual deviancy, women used to stick live fish in their unmentionables until it died, only to take it out and spike the old mans tea with it! Do that in this country and you'd be burnt at the stake. Over the years they've had sex with bridges, smeared unmentionable female fluid over childrens faces, In child birth, men have been encrouged to make the sign of the x on the chest of his wife (while in labour) with his errect unmentionable....I could go on, but I'm struggling to breath in this gimp mask.

@emmanuel...

You did not just compare Spurs to Chelsea,Barcelona and Real Madird, did you! That comparison makes no sense.. those are teams
who can financially offer more than Spurs can, consistently play in the Champions league yr in and yr out... No one seems to want to leave Real Madrid even if its ruining their careers.. You should be comparing the club to the those of equivalent stature, when it comes to the business side of things. IMO we have done much better than the likes of Arsenal,Liverpool,Valencia... Levy drives a hard bargain but we do have some fantastic talent in our team .

Big club? WGAF! We're the only club, we're TOTTENHAM.

I can just picture kranjcar now cock in hand, pacing up and down his hotel room looking for something to measure it.

oh here we go more accusations of racism, great. you know what, by that definition, i am racist. some people are "better" than others due to genetics. what you consider better is a matter of opinion. for example we all think attractive people are better than non attractive people genetically in that they look better to us. stop trying to act like there aren't any distinguishable genetic differences in groups of people. blacks on average are more athletic. for the most part they were hunter gatherers till more recently so that makes sense. i have a jew nose and it makes me genetically good at filtering air n shit. don't know much about the history of the balkans but it sure isn't great now, MAYBE the unique combination of vegetation and bacteria putting shit in the air has made that area of europe detrimental to the human brain. who the fuck knows. i worry more about the people who take racist comments so seriously than the ones who make the comments. if you care so much why is your response to try to censor them. if you care so much why aren't you able to actually argue that racism is incorrect. why do you just say "HEY, look at this definition of racism, you're saying some people are better than others, that's wrong and you're a horrible person" give me a fuckin break lol ..just understand evolution n shit and ur good, races and anthropology are interesting, and if you understand evolution you know no one is more evolved than anyone else, we evolved in some different ways for differing reasons but we have all been evolving for the same amount of time, all racism is is an opinion, a favourite set of genetic traits, get the fuck over it unless it's actually effecting your life

Jul 27, 2012 at 1:05 PM | Unregistered Commenterglen

well i looked into it and it seems pygmys are people who developed in an area with some kind of vital deficiency, like iodine-deficiency. i am by no means an expert of anthropology or anything but i still stand by my stance on racism n shit

Glen, dear oh dear , I was going to take the time to explain to you in great detail why you are wrong and the "just get on with it attitude" is akin to ignorance but I'm mixed race so by your reckoning at least half lazy... plus its a football forum so i wont bother.
" if you care so much why aren't you able to actually argue that racism is incorrect" - Nobody should have to argue this point with you

Spook - new post, and quick.

Jul 27, 2012 at 2:40 PM | Unregistered CommenterWisky Tom

brightonspur. i'm not telling you to get on with it, if you have a problem with racism and what i said then argue what i said and prove me wrong, don't just say you were going to. i really don't think you know where i'm coming from since you felt the need to say you're mixed race. so is everyone else genius. now i'm saying you're at least half lazy? what?? and yes, people should have to argue that racism is an incorrect viewpoint. go ahead, try, you might want to look up the word race since you've implied to me that you have a poor and narrow understanding of the word by letting me know you're mixed race as if it distinguishes u from anyone else

The thing is dat levy's askin price is too high !!! £40m ??? Seriously??? Madrid wont play more den 27-30m !!! Levy had a gentlement agreement wid modric... So he shud actually try to negotiate a deal wid madrid & not b firm on 40m cuz madrid wont pay so much for him !!! Spurs need a striker too... I say 27m+jose callejon = modrid !!! Dat type of a deal will suit both parties as striker is on a top of spurs list atm !!! Dey only hv adebayor if we r to believe deal is struck wid city !!! Defoe will b sold.... Dey need anothr striker n callejon will b gud as he is behind both benzema & higuain in madrid !!! So his deparure wont hurt madrid buh mite prove to b real gain for spurs as it'll solve deyr problm of a striker & also will have some 27m to spend on a midfieldr to replace modric !!!

I'm not trying to be a smat-arse but, a commodity is only worth what someone is prepared to pay. Take this example for instance. Cristiano Ronaldo was sold to Madrid for €93.3 million - His contract with Madrid is worth €11million a year, and he has a BILLION EURO BUY OUT FEE EMBOSSED ON HIS CONTRACT!!

No wonder Spain's got its arse hanging out of its trousers.

Jul 27, 2012 at 4:50 PM | Unregistered Commenterflatearther

I think those of you reacting with anger are living in denial. This is part of Redknapp legacy, and now you sort of "own" it. Your club has now a terrible reputation among players, and there is probably no other EPL team as toxic as you are in that respect (and you can confirm that by the long list of them who has refused to join THFC. It not only Niko, it's Corluka, and before them Boateng, and Bent and all others who were not only ignored but also insulted (Bent, Boateng). When Dos Santos says he wants out, it is because he was an outcast, and then accused (without proof) of unprofessional behaviour. You may resent that, but it is not Niko's problem. It is your club which has to prove to players that their careers will not in danger if they join.

In the light of terry and frimpong there`s no need to highlight on here how various races have evolved differently - it provides the bigots with an opportunity in their tiny brains to post comments that may genuinely offend some people. Not me I hasten to add.

Jul 28, 2012 at 12:44 AM | Unregistered Commentermoe

Firstoff i'm an Arsenal fan so i've seen firsthand the effects of keeping players that have had their heads turned by the spanish clubs.
The best course of action in this whole Modric saga would be to sell him, and before anyone starts throwing tantrums you should also consider the negative outcomes if Modric is not sold - One of your highest paid players would be giving less than 100%, so letting him rot on the bench should be out of the question, except you consider Modric earning millions for a whole season without doing shit some sort of punishment? - His presence in the dressing room/team might poison the minds of other players, you and i know these pampared players are impressionable.
We're nearing the end of July, would you prefer this to drag into the new season?

Finally, the owner of this site is not doing himself justice! I'm easy going but even i can see that the first few comments on this post were racist and the fact you don't see much wrong with em says a lot about you, just saying.

As has already been said, the players try and get the highest wages they can and move to a club largely on that basis as that's
all they seem to care about. They get their agent to talk them up as 'worth' loads of dosh a week but cannot understand when the
selling club demand the highest fee possible for exactly the same reason. If you want to move for tuppence then play Conference football on Conference wages. A lower league club will let you leave for next to nothing and will pay you next to nothing as well!! No wonder most footballers have a reputation for being thick...
