Mr Blatter needs to have a word with Oil Rich Football owners who are buying players with profits from fixed Oil prices. The World is bleeding with Poverty and we cant sign a player because he wants the five million transfer money Spurs are paying his club. Well that was underwhelming. Outnumbered 3:1 in the stands but I think we still out sang them...briefly...until the heat stroke set in!
I don't either team looked very lively or dangerous, but I'd say we had the most possession and pinged the ball about well. Harry Kane was a gamer going forward, but he is clearly a finisher and not able to hold the ball up for any length of time. The defense looked strong, but that could have been because they had no one to really test them. Suarez will change that dynamic. Siggy and JJ went missing early. Tom Carroll impressed during his brief appearance.THudd was decent but rusty. Livermore is THE man in the center right now. Oh and this just in...Bassong CANNOT play left back. Friedel was solid and safe, but never really tested. No VDV today and only a brief cameo by Walker.
As my iv runs briskly next to my gaunt face and parched lips, I try to remember that it's only preseason and that I shouldn't take too much away from this game. However, there is a lack of depth that needs to be addressed up front and in the center of the field. VDV hurt and Siggy ineffective and Bentley...well he was on the field...I think...somewhere? My only consolation is that the the Puddle were shite. They'll be lucky to get 8th again without big changes.
I know, I know...it's only preseason...and it was stinking HOT....and there was nothing on the line... I know! But...
