Berbatov

So Dimi, was going on strike at Spurs really worth it? So you've got the odd medal and an animated gif or two of some tasty skills. But where's yo swagger at playa? The grass was was never greener than it was in that first season at Spurs. But then we all know that first season was simply your audition for the move to Old Trafford. Can't blame anyone for chasing a dream. But some dreams are nothing more than awakenings.

In other news, Hazard is due to announce the club of choice post-match this evening live on tv (in France). The assumption is it's Utd rather than City. I'm opting for the nWo after he hits both representatives with a chair and leaves the ring with two hot ladies either side of him.

Hazard be trolling.

"Eden Hazard has told the Lille fans that he...didn't know yet where he will be playing next season"

He's not the messiah. He's a very naughty boy.

May 20, 2012 at 10:19 PM | Registered Commenterspooky

No Hazard's going to City
1. He was given a house tour by City executives or something along the lines of that.
2. He said he would be wearing BLUE. Which could have been City or Chelsea.
3. Then about a week after he said he was wearing blue he said the club was in Manchester.
Now which club wears blue in Manchester?
United maybe??
No obviously not. He's going to City, if I'm wrong I will go to school naked tomorrow.

Not sure why your hating the Bulgarian...........

He wanted CL footy and it clearly wasn't happening at the Lane at that particular time............He voiced his concerns early and often. Levy decided to hold on to the last second to maximize the sale, but put the club in the terrible position.....

The much bigger dirt-bag was Keano...........The face of the club who supposedly pledged a lifetime commitment to the THFC........And, then bolted in the 11th hour to chase his boyhood dream........

We all knew that Berbatov was gone, but Keano came out of nowhere during that same STW w/ his transfer request and ultimate move to Lpool...........Putting the club in a horrendous spot w/ their Front Line......

I would welcome the Bulgarian back..........And, considering we are now stuck in Europa, i wouldn't be surprised to see Levy same some further coin and make an inquiry. COYS

After the chavs undeserved victory and our relegation to the Europa league, we will find it difficult to sign any player of a high calibre, the KGB have knocked us back a couple of seasons, and, the Vultures will be picking at the bones. COYS!

Berbatov on a free transfer? With Adebayor back at Citeh. Our current strike force comprises of Defoe and some guy on loan at San Jose. With Saha's congratulatory tweets to the Chavs yesterday, he is going to be as about as popular as a dose of the clap.

What time do we expect this hazard announcement to be at?

May 20, 2012 at 10:41 PM | Unregistered CommenterCaptain Hindsight

Phillyhotspur ..... Don't think Spooky was expressing hatred of the grasping Bulgar, but rather asking the question as to whether his 'dream' actually came true .... had he stayed at Spurs, he would have played eventually in the present team, and enhanced it. At United he had a brief cameo and then got tossed aside as a luxury a go-ahead bunch like the 'red devils' couldn't afford to give house room to. Had I my choice, I would have preferred him to either Adeboyar or VDV, but he made his choice, and he is to be preferred no more. Do you think it was a worthwhile choice he made .............?

I think we play beautiful football but are fragile - United play robust football but are not beautiful; I know which I prefer. There are sadly few professional footballers who, given that choice would choose us. This fact informs our present predicament.

@What time do we expect this hazard announcement to be at? He's due at WHL at midnight to sign a few autographs before flying to Man C to sign a 5 year contract.

May 20, 2012 at 10:44 PM | Unregistered Commentercookiebun

RE ped: Yeah Coulibaly is a potential star but until he's about 24 Harry's gonna keep sending him on loan. Also he's only 17 now, we need a striker now. Not in 5 years time.

May 20, 2012 at 10:45 PM | Unregistered CommenterAli

What does actually worry, is the fact that our lot seem to leave transfer business to the last minute, then we are left with the likes of gnikcuf Saha. Get the dirty end of the stick done and dusted. ASAP. COYS!

May 20, 2012 at 10:47 PM | Unregistered CommenterEngNor

Berbatov went about it badly,I wouldn't welcome him back, anyway he said he's leaving the EPL.I agree with ped its time to give Coulibali a squad number and get a return from the £47m ploughed into our training complex by shifting some young talent into the squad and not getting on their case if they don't play like super stars from the off.

May 20, 2012 at 10:58 PM | Unregistered CommenterEngNor

TommyHarmer.........

Berbs won the Golden Boot last year and played a huge role in #19 for United.......And, then SAF took a shite on him for whatever reason.......

Was he a huge success at United ? probably not............But far from a failure.

He wanted bigger things and it wasn't happening at the time at the lane............

vs Modric, who has had a taste of CL footy at the Lane and could easily have more if he steps it up a bit...........

May 20, 2012 at 11:05 PM | Unregistered CommenterPhillyHotspur

You mean the nWo Spooks? Hazard, Modric and Bale: "We're taking OVER!!!"

May 20, 2012 at 11:23 PM | Unregistered CommenterMark

sigh.

We leave transfer business until late because there are, at best, about 25 players in the world who would a) genuinely improve our chances of winning, and b) we have a snowflakes chance in hell of signing for a reasonable amount on spurs wages.

The signing we need is a new Berbatov, a player with promise for about £10m who then steps up. And obviously no other clubs are looking for those. Newcastle did it most recently with Cisse ( and I would be in no way surprised if what he is on now would break the spurs wage structure).

Interesting note, I believe Newcastles wage bill is higher that our own (or at least similar). For all the talk of their bargains they finished about where they should (given the Liverpool and Chelsea punched way below their financial weight).

May 20, 2012 at 11:23 PM | Unregistered CommenterJC

someone on talksport has just said we had a big name striker ready to sign but it was all dependant on getting CL that's abit gutting! think we are going to have to use youth next season but the problem is we will still have harry so he probably won't use the talented youth we have we'll end up buying old timers :-)

May 21, 2012 at 12:15 AM | Unregistered Commenterrobbie

With Harry running out on his contract, I doubt he would want to push Spurs into CL territory. He'll leave us at 5th for the next gaffer to continue. Why dun Levy just get rid of him now and hopefully the next manager will be able to get his team right coming season and push for 3rd at the same time. With Harry around, we are wasting one more year. As players, who would want to wait for 2 more years before playing in their's next CL match? And qualification is a big "if". Bale and Modric will leave for sure and good players are are hard to find (given our scouting resources), ends up Spurs will be forever in the shadows of the top 3.

May 21, 2012 at 4:11 AM | Unregistered CommenterSGSpurs

If HR could only achieve 4th. with the best squad in 50 years, lose a 10 point lead in a month, lose the plot at Villa, no matter who we bring in, we aint going to go anywhere. He can 'talk the talk', 'shuffle off to buffalo', 'begin the beguine', and no doubt perform other sundry tricks with his person, he is only a mediocre manager who can't handle the pressure at the top. Bale has slipped in recent months, Modric runs around like a chicken wondering where to place his pass. Lower teams form a wall of defenders and we have a solitary striker. I know HR has had a heart problem, a court appearance, the distraction of the England job. For Gods sake men of character, resolution, determination, grit, courage and a belief in themselves, and their charges could have and would have turned the season around after the Arsenal game. He didn't get the FA job because the FA realised that he can't and never will be able to do the "hard yards". Keep the current squad and get a new manager.

Frontwheel, where did the sum 47 million come from? How do you know it was that much?

I'm seriously interested 'cos I reckon the the new training ground is gonna be a very important asset to wave under the noses of young prima donnas running the rule over potential 'new homes'.

May 21, 2012 at 8:48 AM | Unregistered CommenterTonyBlue

No-one would ever mistake Chelsea for the best team in Europe. No-one would argue that City aren't the best team in the league.

If we'd failed to finish in the Top 4, I could understand them wanting away, because they'd think the team's not good enough to get in the Champions League. but they've just proved to themselves that they can get into the Top 4.

They'll probably be as angry as we all are at having our place taken away. I don't think they'll necessarily be in a rush to get away.

And there's too many good players at Spurs for it to have too much of an effect. Pienaar could come into his own without Bale. There's no shortage of talent in midfield even if Modric did leave. This is to say nothing of who we might buy.

On top of this, we have a very determined chairman. I think we'll be alright.

Dont know how long some of you boys have been supporting Spurs but there seems to be an awful lot of short memories around at the moment.. If you had been around in the late 80's mid 90's in particular watching the crap that was served up at the lane every other week or travelling to places like Oldham on a Wednesday evening to see the same crap maybe you wouldn't all be acting so spoilt right now. We have had the best team in years ok we lost out on CL but we still finished 4th! for 36 years plus I have seen spurs splutter about and I still love everything about the club win or lose crap or not.. maybe we will lose some players but if Levy gets offered 35+mil for bale I would take it and for Modric whatever we van get maybe 60Mil in the pot for new players by the time we sell the rest of the rubbish we have maybe more a team is the sum of its parts as proved by the barcodes this year we have a better chance than them of pulling off some good signings, so take your heads out of your arses and think a bit more laterally !

Hazard has been using various clubs, ours included, as pawns in a game to ensure he gets the big clubs come in for him. We've seen far too many players use us like that and I'm sick of it. To be honest though, I'd rather he didn't join us now that we've seen the games he's playing. He'd have done a Berba and used us as a stepping stone to bigger things.

Speaking of Berba, I take that comment to be a bit of a warning to Mr Modric...... Enjoy what you have because you never know what the other side is truly like. Jeez, he could go to Chelsea and end up with 3 managers in a season, 2 of which may not want him in the team. Actually I don't see a move to Chelsea happening as they have Marin now.

If he buggers off abroad then I have no problem, but if he goes north to Manchester I'll be royally pissed once again.

Don't think Bale will bail though just yet. He's still young and has plenty of opportunity for the big money move in the future. Needs to develop his game more with us. Besides which, no way he accepts a move to Barca on the basis that he will return to being a left-back.

Ceegee u should have supported man utd u seem like a perfect candidate why the fuck did u support spurs in the first place ? If u can't deal with the downs then fuck off and be a glory supporter I spent 2 years inside for fighting for this club coz I'm a real supporter whatever so don't even try the holding the club back bit success comes through consistency look at manure grow up and either support the club or change just like a 10 year old kid does when he sees another team is doing better we don't need twats like u as so called fans

whats with everyones problem with HR? I keep seeing comments on how he doesn't bring in youth, but if that's the case, who put kyle walker in the first team? Whos been gradually introducing Jake Livermore? And didn't Adam Smith get a cameo appearance ion the last day of the season? I agree that Redknapps oldies are f***ing disappointing to watch but he's bringing in the perfect players for youth to learn from.... except Ryan Nelson... Who the F**k is Ryan nelson

prediction for last day of the transfer window - Bale and Luka out. Del Piero and Owen in. Sky sports news `Redkrapp shows once again what an astute wheeler dealer he is blah blah blah`.
Chavs won the CL by sticking players in their proper positions and playing a system they know and are comfortable with.
They had the bollocks to stand firm against better sides..............and scored from a corner. Now learn some lessons from that you floppy chopped cunt. It aint neuro surgery.

Shelfboy and thousands like him were a product of their environment, you'll notice that he states that he 'fought for his club' this is tribalism at best, a belief system, stapled to the limbic system in all men! Men were designed to fight, thats mans role. Man will fight for things he loves and believes in.......You can also pay him!

Meanwhile: Milgram evidenced that men intrinsically follow, and behave in ways akin to sheep - Shelfboy never had a chance!!

Why do people defend Harry? In the 80's and 90's we had shit players so we finished each season where we belonged. This season and last we had better squads than teams that finished above us. This can only be down to the manager not being good enough. Harry has the best players the club has had in 30yrs+ he simply isn't good enough. He has a negative midset and always says things like how can we finish above teams like Arsenal, City, Utd, Chelsea, it is this that needs to change if we are to progress. He needs to learn about rotation. Rotation doesn't mean playing the same 11 week in week out for 90 mins then playing a different 11 in cup games! Rotation involves playing some players for an hour and then using someone else for 30 mins. After about 4 or so games doing this the player that played 30 mins should get a start. By doing this you allow all of the squad to get some kind of form going and you don't knacker out the players. Then come the 2nd half of the season or when we suffer injuries we are not relying on players who have had no football all season to come in and to hit the ground running. It also fosters a better team spirit as opposed to the them and us situation that developes when the same 11 play week in week out and the rest just rot on the bench or in the stands. Two consecutive seasons have now floundered because he hasn't got to grips with modern management of large quality squads.
