What's wrong with this picture?

I'd expect a better mock up if the OS is awarded to Spurs, then the designers can go to town much like they did with the now dead in the water Northumberland Development Project (it's dead in the water). At the moment however, we are teased with a rather strange single piece illustration. Not sure what irks me more. The buildings central in the background or the tall red monstrosity looking down at the stadium (never red damn you!). Don't even get me started on the break dancers. I can see it now. Headhunters v the Spurs Yoof. Body popping in Burberry.

Couple of other things in there that hardly appeal to the common football fan, but yes, it's a mock up and if you look closely to some of the design photos of the NDP they actually included a skating rink.

RIP Football, eh?

Once more, I'm placing my hope that Levy is masking his true intentions. Would hardly make sense to tell us there will be a referendum then once more brutally state that there is no option available other than a move to East London. Unless his mind is getting cloudy with the PR soundbites (unlikely).

To further cement the contradictions, note the usage of the word 'current' in his comments on the NDP being dead in the water. Reading too much into it, am I? Then again, if my hope that this is a grand game of poker rings true, what if we are awarded the OS? I guess, either way - Levy will get what he wants. Just no pleasing all of us I'm afraid.

Also - couple of things I saw this morning that made me giggle.

“I don’t think running tracks work, particularly behind the goal. The customers are so far back it doesn’t work" - David Sullivan

Make your minds up.

And from early 2010 just for larfs:

"The bigger dream is for West Ham fans to have a football stadium. He (Coe) can have an athletics track elsewhere. We would offer tickets at £5 a go for some matches. We can bring Premier League football back to the people" - David Sullivan

Prem League football....in the Championship! It's revolutionary! This is the best from the same article from early 2010:

"Karren is a good businesswoman but she doesn't understand football"

Astute.

Yes, yes, Levy has contradicted himself aplenty with the promises and shattered dreams but I'm beginning to wonder whether his greatest weapon is West Ham's inability to fight their corner. Or if you believe in the conspiracy theory, it's possibly the greatest threat to remaining in N17. Mainly because even with all the bad hype about Spurs and the legacy, many involved in the process of seleciton see the Spurs bid as being more viable (hate that word).

But as mentioned already, either way Levy will win.

Anyone for badminton?

Followers of football fall into two categories, 1..The Fan (Fanatic) or 2.. The Supporter. A Fan will tell you they are "Born to the Club" which they follow. The history...tradition...location...etc means everything. A "Supporter " will attach themselves to a club for all the same reasons as a "Fan" , the difference lies within their passion for the club. The passion for a club from a "Supporter" doesn't run as deep as the passion of a "Fan".
A Fan is bonded to their club, they are one, any attempt to interfere with, or remove ,any part of that bond is sacrilege . To a Supporter, although they love their club, that bond is not as strong. All football clubs require a fan base, diehards , win or lose they will always be there. When a club is succesful, many Supporters will attach themselves to that club, but if that same club has a spell of mediocrity, it is a lot easier for a Supporter to look for an alternative., whereas the Fan cannot/will not.
We are now in a sad situation of Spurs Fans v Spurs Supporters. I am a diehard spurs fan, the love i have for my club is priceless and cannot be bought. My bond is to a club called Tottenham, from WHL, N17...North London. Yes, we all want a bigger stadium, but, only at The LANE. To move spurs out of the area-North London means the death of THFC. Whatever Mr Levy & co do in Stratford, it will never be Spurs

Roll on the decision.
Then we can get back to supporting our team and talking about football.
Supporters can do/ say what they like, Levy will do what he wants when he wants and our opinions count for nothing and will make no difference.
We like to think we are important and our views will be taken on-board. Forget it.
For those who will no longer support the club or what they become, Levy does not care, there are thousands waiting to take your seat.
LIve with it, get over it support Barnet if that's what takes your fancy, but move on.

Perhaps someone should ask the powers that be how come they spent 500,000 million on a stadium with no toilets or catering facilities inside it and which will not be fit for any purpose following the Olympics unless millions more are spent adapting it. It's our money they are wasting, not their own.

Reckon they ought to include that red twisted piece of junk eyesore in the £80m recycling. Fuck me. I'm being drawn in. Bollocks what do I care if West Ham have a red twisted piece of junk eyesore along with their poxy running track.

I dub this rendering....."SPURS WORLD!"

Ultimate fighting ring, pop and lock "break off" mat, chicks in short shorts playing volley ball, and wheel chair shuffle board.

What's not to like?

Where's the driving range and bumper cars?

Let’s assume we are really dealing with some professional campaign here. One engineered to back Stratford bid. One that is supposed to convince the public THFC care of ‘Olympic legacy’ or so. Provided the phrase ‘Olympic legacy’ has any deeper meaning beyond political correctness mania at all.

Is this why they don’t hesitate to show us an empty stadium’s mock-up? They focus in fact on various activities going on around the ground rather than on football itself. Well, one could say it was just an example of stadium’s potential application. But I already assumed the professional action was being carried out here. Not just some free noncommittal vision of a dreaming architect. Professional approach, not accidental one.

Unless it is all a continuous fake in all its aspects again and again. Same as those human figures round the stadium. Having been pasted a couple of times each. Some multiplied computer-aided design of new costumers that are supposed to represent football fans. Dear Machiavelli, I already lost my faith in you. Meanwhile however I start to believe you might have some new great contingency plan. Just simply cannot believe you like boxing and beach volleyball more than football.
