Let's welcome back the black and white

Some of you might remember this ickle article here entitled 'Let's Relegate Newcastle'. It was more of an anti-Alan Shearer on Match of the Day piece, more so than anything genuinely vindictive against the club, bar some banter and digs. However, I have to now admit it was mis-guided, mainly because even though they were relegated to the Championship, Alan still reprised his responsibilities on the BBC flagship football program, as smug as ever, even with the blight of seeing his side go down having failed to save them in the nine games he allowed himself to manage.

But it's all ended on a good note. Chris Hughton has guided them back up at the first attempt. I can also watch MotD having channelled all anger and disdain for Shearer towards Lawrenson and Hansen (the true evil on our television) and Newcastle away is (for those who travel) a rather superb trip. Up in the Gods or 90 minutes, and then usually up some Georide lass panties at the end of the night. All at the cheap cost of just three points. Lovely.

So, I'd like to say Hola and welcome back to the Premier League, Newcastle United.

'Let's Relegate West Ham' anyone? Ah, only joking. That would be 6 easy points lost next season.

Thanks for the kind words.

You away fans will be welcome too. The local young lasses like to practice on little pricks, and have found cockney wankers perfect.

And as you say, it's always an easy three points, although we don't always score 7.

i hope mrs spooky doesn't read this? Or his that how you met?

Apr 8, 2010 at 2:44 PM | Unregistered CommenterFox Mulder

As I recall its an even easier three points for us at WHL. Although we tend to steer clear of the totty on offer down there. never know where its been ?

Apr 8, 2010 at 2:46 PM | Unregistered CommenterAndyMac

Sorry Spooky cant agree with you. Felt nothing but quiet pleasure that day at Villa Park when they got the bullet and nothing but despair few days ago when it was confirmed that the mongrels are back..
The first post comment on this article says it all.
They are the most deluded fans in the country. Every football supporter is somewhat delusional, but the barcodes simply take it to extremes.
Sad really.

Calm down Geordieboy; it's all a big joke and nothing in the article is serious. Well, the bit about the spammers...

Congrats on going up, look forward to the banter down at WHL come next season.

The funny thing is that it's only a matter of time before the Geordies get delusions of grandeur. Won't be long before the fans all claim they'll be a CL team in the 11/12 season!

Apr 8, 2010 at 3:04 PM | Unregistered CommenterWalkerboy

Ugh. Crap beer, crap uniforms, crap hair, crap city. I hate Newcastle.
Aside from Bryan Ferry the city has made no worthwhile contribution to civilization.
Grudging kudos to them for never breaking stride in the Championship and coming straight back up.
They are the loathsome frenemy/relative you can't seem to get rid of.

.."got bored of 'em" should I say... ;)

Apr 8, 2010 at 3:20 PM | Unregistered CommenterTerry Nutkins

'hot bored animals' is an entirely different avenue to take.

I think Chris Packham went down that avenue after the acrimonious 'really wild show' break up. Never really been the same since.

Ever since the semi final @ Old trafford ive hated those northern monkeys.. If they play their current team next season its championship for them yet again. Lets hope!!!

good article, will be nice to get back to some decent away grounds and days again, the championship has been ok but its a taste im happy to leave behind. i hope geordie boys comments were a bit tongue in cheek ala the articel andf that the reactions to his comments are over the top rather than a humourous reply, anyway good to be back see you all next year, oh one favour if you get our lass take her back to london with you will you !

Delighted for Chris Hughton after all the service he gave us. Our next manager if HR messes up?

Bobby Boy - no thanks!

Apr 8, 2010 at 4:08 PM | Unregistered CommenterFox Mulder

There is nothing more humbling than being relegated. The Toon fans seemed more realistic when interviewed the other day. We were humbled last season, and already some of us have forgotten where we (very recently) just came from! So they better not call for Hughton's head when they are in the bottom half all season. I hope the geordies do ok, but I always hate it when we go there - because our record isn't so great there.... Unlike what some say here, I have heard that it is a nice city...and I personally do like Newcastle Brown Ale, mmmm, beer....

Apr 8, 2010 at 4:10 PM | Unregistered CommenterTonyTott

Ah memories. Being chased from St. James Park in a cold February in 1970, after Big Chiv helped us to a win. Can't remenber the score, think it was 2-0 or 2-1, but remember battling for a hour with the barcodes in the days before footie shirts were the norm and all us skinheads looked the same. The only way you you could tell them and us apart was the fact that they were all ugly and we looked f88king ace.

Apr 8, 2010 at 4:14 PM | Unregistered Commentersinger

6 easy points.?

Am I not correct in thinking that the last 6 times newcastle have played spurs we have beaten you 5 times or something like that. Although I dont doubt you will beat us next season given your current position and that fat Spurs fan who unfortuanately bought us 3 seasons ago. Would it not have been cheaper for him to buy the team he supports and run them into the ground?

Anyway thanks for the tiny fraction of congratulations in their somewhere although a few of you managed to throw in the 'deluded' catchfrase.

Im off to think my deluded thoughts of top 4 and champions league in 2011 with Ashley at the helm. NOT

Apr 8, 2010 at 4:19 PM | Unregistered CommenterDanToon

Dan, that was in reference to 6 easy points OFF West Ham Utd.

I already admitted a day trip to Newcastle would cost US 3 points ;)

Apr 8, 2010 at 4:23 PM | Registered Commenterspooky

Oh right sorry.

I don't know if WHU will be in the prem next year lol.

It has actually been refreshing IMO to drop down for 1 season. I remember the outside wall toilet at Barnsley ect. It has been nice to actually get used to the team winning and only losing 4 times all season. I will miss it actually but its nice to be back.

I think we will survive in the prem next year if Hughton stays and is given some crumbs off Ashley but we won't be pulling any trees up put it that way. The thing is we have got rid of the sugar daddy big time players like Owen and we now have a squad that is all pulling together and acually want to play for the club.

Apr 8, 2010 at 4:33 PM | Unregistered CommenterDanToon

Not that I would ever wish relegation to be an experience I live through, if it happened and if promotion was a 85-90% given, I'd probably enjoy the tour of England a Championship fixture list would offer. One season tops.

Hope Hughton is given a chance. Your owner has been quiet. It will be interesting to watch any potential knee-jerks. Depends what the expectancy is for you next season. Aim too high and you might buckle.

Apr 8, 2010 at 4:40 PM | Registered Commenterspooky

Alan Shearer's smug? What on earth does that make Gary lineker then? Please don't be disrespectful to Alan Shearer, the greatest english centre forward ever. He's actually a decent pundit. And enough with the deluded stuff already. It's kind of tiresome. Spurs have after all won one championship in their entire history, and yet some of their fans think they're the biggest club in London.

Apr 8, 2010 at 5:12 PM | Unregistered CommenterJman

Few (of us) would say we're the biggest club in London, just the one with the swagger and sex. Or at least 'was' the one with the swagger and the sex until around 10 years ago. We're asleep, hopefully should be wide awake in a season. Our 'rivals', one started to play football properly around 10 years or so ago (coincidently) and the other ones consolidated by accepting the money of a playboy.

Still, wouldn't change my colours.

As for Lineker, I know. He's an ego, a massive one. My issue with Shearer, as a neutral, was simply one based around his reluctance to take the job to save Newcastle earlier. Sorry, but that's just me. Cynical. He was always in a win win (sort of) position, from his own personal viewpoint. His side went down, and yet there he is talking tactics.

Apr 8, 2010 at 5:18 PM | Registered Commenterspooky

By the way Jman, one championship and yet here we are. Never boring, always dramatic and with an abundance of flair players in practically every decade since the 50s (to go along with a bit of silverware in each one of them).

It's about tradition no?

Makes us and you lot very very similar that. Tradition. It defines a club and its supporter.

Much like no matter how many things Chelsea win, they'll always be tainted by the 6,000 or so homes fans who turned up to watch them after they got relegated. And the fact that for the best part of 100 years, Arsenal fans were quite content in watching their side bore the fuck out of the opposing side. Up until Wenger, I can only think of Liam Brady as a flair player.

But anyways, could talk for hours...

Apr 8, 2010 at 5:21 PM | Registered Commenterspooky

We have huge support also. Although I'd like to see how many people latched on if we did have sustained success in the CL.

Apr 8, 2010 at 5:28 PM | Unregistered Commenteralt ctrl del

Fair point Spooky. Spurs are a club with big tradition, can't argue with that. And your fans do make a lot more noise than those at the bridge and the library. I do agree with you on the similarities between the two clubs. Both have been fortunate enough to watch Ginola, Gazza, and Waddle play for us in recent times. Wouldn't mind some of your current players either. O'Hara and Keane maybe. But then with our current owner, I won't hold my breath.

Apr 8, 2010 at 5:43 PM | Unregistered CommenterJman

I think Keane can be arranged. In fact, stick £10 on it.

Honestly can't see him pulling on a Spurs shirt again and don't buy all this 'he's coming back' hype. Just soundbites to get others potentially interested.

Shame. Ruined himself he did with that boyhood move to the scousers.

Year after year we dream about Champions Leage , year after year they promise us we getting stronger but what's the point when you see the actual situation at the end of every season?
Dear M. Levy , as you know we claimed to be the 15th richest club in the world and we are in top 15 for a 2 decades. So let's think about it ..... Have we ever been in Chamions League so far ? No !
Why not ? I do not believe to all the talkers and bla bla spurs enthusiastic fans who think we going up . We not going to play in Champions League because we allready play a role in the English Premiership Theatre scenario for exactly 2 decades. Our role is to be the ever missfortunate black sheep , a massive glorious club with the best fans in England has to suffer because of some *uckers who think some people will find that funny and exciting?
Exuse me , but i will keep posting like that till you all open your eyes and see what is going on in the English football.
In short i love love love Spurs but our president is s*it.

The fact is I can't see either of our clubs getting into the top 4 for many, many years. Where Liverpool have dropped off, Many City have taken over. It may actually be the retirement of Ferguson that sees the top 4 break up again in my opinion. Hopefully Liverpool will fail to stay in the top 4 this season, most probably 'sack the manager'. Lose Torres and totally collapse with only the aging Gerrard to cling to. Here's hoping :)

Wouldn't want it again either, but it was fun as schoolboy watching Spurs in the old 2nd Division in 1977

i hope u go straight back down.

Apr 9, 2010 at 3:30 AM | Unregistered Commenterol1yid

I was hoping that they stayed there for a while actually.

Their fans really needed the reality slap that they are not a "BIG" team. Was hoping that they may have leant a little humillity by going down, but looking at the geordie post on here they have not learnt their lesson.

They will need to spend big if they are to stay in the prem and that ain't gonna happen so hopefully they will get to learn their lesson next year.

At least they are a "BIG" regionall team that have finnally won something after 50 years! Congrats!

Apr 9, 2010 at 6:43 AM | Unregistered CommenterKennyM

Why oh why are the media and even some fans on here banging on about the deluded newcastle fans!? Every newcastle fan I've spoken to is concerned about whether the team will stay in the premiership.

It probably doesnt help that Sky sports always seem to pick the nut cases high on glue to give a quote! it makes me cringe!

Come on the Toon!

When we flirted with relegation last term, the Geaordie fans along with WHU were the most voluable in taking pleasure at our impending demise. On the other side I went away to St. James Park and the reception, banter and overall hospitality was admirable, it was probably one of the best away days experienced in my 20years plus of supporting our club. So well done to them for bouncing back at the first time of asking, hope that they have gained some humility from the drop or be at least thankful that a spurs hand guided them back to the Premier promised land. Don't loathe or love them, i'd much rather face Newcastle than about 5 or 6 clubs that currently occupy the league.

Two words - Nikos Dabizas.

I will always hate the delusional wankers - the first post said it all really. Would not be at all surprised if they go straight back down.

The only thing they are ever likely to win is Division 2 (as it used to be known.)

An "howay" day at SJP is great fun, nice ground and great banter with the fans, I loved it except that we lost 3-1 that day. It still remains, to this day, the only game at which I've ever been offered pills and coke at half time by a local. That was weird.

Chris Houghton served our club well and I am happy for him as a manager, but who really gives a flying fuck about Toon? We've got an FA Cup Semi at Wembly and a mad race for 4th spot on our hands. FOCUS.

Speaking of FA Cup Semi, I have a spare ticket if anyone is interested, block 122, front and centre. Only problem is its in the Pompey end but you would be sitting with 3 Spurs fans. Will charge face value of ticket. Anyone.
