Rooney (off-topic)

So, basically one of three things:

1) All this was a ploy orchestrated by Fergie and aided by Rooney to get more money and promises from the Glazers in relation to transfers etc

2) Rooney signs a contract meaning that if sold in Jan or the summer, United can now demand a massive fee, rather than losing him for nothing

3) Rooney held the club to ransom and got what he wanted. What a hero.

Let's look on the bright side. At least all the ridiculous stories linking us with him can be placed to bed once and for all so we can now concentrate on signing Rivaldo.

what a farce.

i reckon he bottled it, saw the reaction of the media/fans etc and figured this was the best thing he could do.

right move though, anything else would have made him a national hate figure.

He only signed because nobody else wanted him...

Levy let's us down again.

Ha ha ha, Rivaldo - classic!

Going even further off topic - Harry must play Kranjcar tomorrow.
Hate to see him sidelined. Off the back of a hard game midweek, Harry should rotate the midfield. Give the boy a go!

Stretford and Rooney have played United like a banjo.

Now we concentrate on Rohan Ricketts again.

Oct 22, 2010 at 1:32 PM | Unregistered Commenterbruce castle

Oh not you mean we arn't getting the most overrated striker of his and possible any generation?

I am truely, truely gutted, however now I have cleared up the Tea I spilt everywhere I will go back to not being at all bothered about us not getting this fat git with an attitude.

Not sure if any of you watched Mock the Week last night, they rightly pointed out that this is the man who abused England supporters for BOOing a terrible performance, pointing out just how disloyal they are.

At which point the comic quickly pointed out that this is the man who walked out on his Boyhood club Everton after no time at all supposedly to win trophies, he then slept with a granny hooker whilst his missus was preggas, if that wasn't enough he felt another hooker was a good idea.

Then he sticks his fingers up to UTD until they pay the big money? So who is the disloyal one Roo?

The guys doesn't have a clue.

You must do have to feel for him in some ways though, this is the guy who is so fucking ugly that even all that money doesn't get him laid from week to week and Eurosport thought Tevez was ugly!

COYS!

Rooney will be a kid until 50. Aas he is born to be a chav.

Oct 22, 2010 at 1:34 PM | Unregistered Commenterronney the chav

off Topic - Why the hell when one of our players has a good game (this time its Bale) do the media only talk about when he will be sold and not how great a player he is going to be for Tottenham. ITV were practically trying to flog him wednesday night! I don't ever recall them saying that when any of the Supposed "big 4" play

Oct 22, 2010 at 1:34 PM | Unregistered CommenterOssie

Nasty piece of work Ruiney is. As is the lot of them in Mancland.

Oct 22, 2010 at 1:37 PM | Unregistered CommenterTrembly

Ossie, yep, plenty of people latched onto that. It's the usual mouth to girth bullshit the media perpetuate at any given moment to massage the egos of the Sky Sports Top 4. The proper top 4. Which we are not a part of.

Which is probably a good thing.

Oct 22, 2010 at 1:38 PM | Registered Commenterspooky

Well Spooks, i wouldn't mind being part of the SS top 4 if it ment we got dodgy penalties like Le Arse seem to get every week!

Oct 22, 2010 at 1:41 PM | Unregistered CommenterOssie

As great a player as he was? Nothing but damaged goods now both mentally and physically. We would be much better off chasing a Podolski, Saurez or even the Haateler man come the January window. Any of these would come at a fraction of the price and would fit into a progressive squad like ours.

Oct 22, 2010 at 1:42 PM | Unregistered CommenterMick from Oz Hotspur

Bring in Chewbacca! I heard we can get him on a Bosman once his contract ends with the Jedi.

Oct 22, 2010 at 1:42 PM | Unregistered Commenterelwehbi

Oh bless his heart Rooney. He finally gets Fergie to commit to something he doesn't do normally: win trophies. Oh wait, is that Fergie or Le ARSEn?

Oct 22, 2010 at 1:51 PM | Unregistered CommenterIaG

elwehbi - what if he does a u-turn and signs a five year contract extension?

Quite easy to do in the Millennium Falcon.

Oct 22, 2010 at 1:55 PM | Registered Commenterspooky

I wouldn't be surprised if he's touted himself about, asked for too much money, been rebuffed by alot of clubs and just thought he'll sign on until they want him and he can command what he wants.

Either way, he looks like an arsehole and Fergie has been made to look like a desperate old man.

Cue, Rooney banging on about how he never wanted to leave etc etc etc.

Prick

Hey Fellow fans..I had a dream yesterday that we defeated Manchester United 3-0 at OT. Will it happen this year ?

Oct 22, 2010 at 2:03 PM | Unregistered Commenterspurfanindia

One big PR stunt to ensure United were headline story all week long.
Take Tuesday and Wednesday night as prime examples. Chelsea & The Arse pick up impressive wins in the CL, but barely get a mention on SSN due to the Rooney story.
Bale gets a hat-trick, we come back from 4-0 down and it doesn't get a mention until fully 20 mins after the United/Rooney story.
United had the easier game of the week but HAD to be the headline news.

Then again, us not getting a mention on SSN for 20 mins..... not surprising really!

Probably won't play tomorrow so will return like the gleaming Knight on his horse next Saturday at 5.30 to kill those pesky cockerneys once and for all. Sir Wayne of Ruinedom

I do believe boba fett is available for a small bounty? Always gets his man, superb signing to replace King. Rooney? We'd be better off with a Klingon. Better looking too.

Oct 22, 2010 at 2:21 PM | Unregistered CommenterStarsky

Damn, lost out to Rooney then. Let's bid for Ronaldo. Apparently he's not doing that well out in Madrid.

Oct 22, 2010 at 2:52 PM | Unregistered CommenterOops

I wish I could kick Rooney square in the gonads. I want the time back that I wasted reading these non-stories this week. I could have done some work instead. Bah

(4) Utd will have a financial collapse as they are unable to pay Rooney's wages plus the increased wages demanded by all the other players. Football recovers from the anti-competitive strangehold Arch Tapper Upper Ferguson has on it.

I smelt a fish when Fergie used a cow analogy. I was immediately reminded of Cantona's reference to sardines - when, coincidentally, I smelt dung.

Tricky, I have only recently discovered your blog and eagerly await each new one. I decided to check the earliest archive to see how many yids were following in 2007.

Check out http://www.dearmrlevy.com/dml/month/may-2007 where you compare Gareth Bale's signing to the signing of Andy Reid. What a difference the intervening 3 years have made to the careers of both players!

I'm surprised that any team wants the twat. He's an embarrassment and a liability. Perhaps old red nose gave him a slap and told the fucker to grow up.

I'm pleased, I thought this one would drag on and on...and on....and on until january. Hopefully we hear no more about it now. I think 2 is probably the answer here, Utd came out looking like a team struggling to hold on to their best assets and Rooney looked like a prick so not really any big winners there.

Oct 22, 2010 at 6:37 PM | Unregistered CommenterJC

And another thing. A brilliant wind up chant for the game against the Mancs would be "You've got no ambition, You've got no ambition, Lala la la. Lala la la" But probably best saved for if it actually looks like we might beat them.

On yet another note, in last two days so much was written about Suley Muntari's "wish" to come to WHL. Some rubbish character there. I remember just a few months earlier the same Muntari ignorantly laughing off such idea. Now, when Benitez don't give flying fuck about him, now the Spurs are the "promise land". I say, fuck off you arrogant twat, we don't need you. Now we have a truckload of quality left foot players; Luka, Raffa, Bale, Niko, Gio, and we don't have use for another one. However, my guess is, if he would have signed for us in the summer (Harry wanted him), we might not later pursue and get RvdV. Life works in mysterious ways, eh?

@Spooky: Damn those Millennium Falcons!

Oct 23, 2010 at 6:51 AM | Unregistered Commenterelwehbi

Bill Simmons, ESPN douche and fake Spurs fan, writes a Q & A column:

Q: Can you explain how John Henry can afford to pay $476 million for a soccer team but couldn't afford Mark Teixeira?

A: I can't. By the way, what should I do here? My baseball team (the Red Sox) just bought an English Premier League team (Liverpool), only I already picked an EPL team (Tottenham Hotspur). Do I have to switch? I've only been seriously following Tottenham for 15 months. I've never been to a game at White Hart Lane. I've never worn a jersey. It's not like I have any real ties to them -- it's just a team I randomly picked to follow. If the Red Sox play up the Liverpool connection, play exhibition games in Fenway, make special jerseys and hats that tie both teams together ... I mean, it's going to be tough for me to root for a different team than what will basically be The Red Sox If They Played Soccer In England And Had Even Crazier Fans.

So I guess it comes down to this: If this is simply "John Henry bought an English soccer team," then whatever. I don't care. But if it's "John Henry bought an English soccer team and plans to make it so that every Red Sox fan will feel like Liverpool is their bastard cousin who lives abroad," and they're playing games in Fenway, and other Sox fans are getting sucked in ... it would be REALLY tough for me to pick another team. Blood is thicker than water. The Red Sox are blood. Anyway, I am taking a wait-and-see approach. Glad we talked this out.

Giant, giant douchebag.
