Have a good feeling about this game too. Relaxed and looking forward to it. Really weird as a spurs fan, I'm usually sh1tting breeze blocks at this point. Had Van deer Vart to score first on Wednesday night and have spurs 3-1 today with the bookies. Get your money on lads!!!
On the other hand vdV is pure class. Had a relatively quiet 45 but popped up when it mattered. I gotta say though top class cross from Pav for the goal.
Once again apart from the header on for vdV's goal Crouch has done fuck all. Get him off and lennon on. GIve us more natural width on the right and take a bit of pressure off Hutton (who's beginning to show glimpses of why we paid 9m for him)
JJ's actually been decent. Bassong/thud pairing is dodgy.
pav is playing terrible right now, its no great loss. he's slow, weak, fails to make space for himself, takes too long on the ball and he shoots too much from outside the box when he doesn't have a decent shot on him. the only reason to have him on the pitch is to take a penalty. despite crouch's drawbacks, i'd much rather have him than pav.
Now can we forget the euro hangovers in future. Villa are an ok outfit and we a good job to beat them. Better than West Ham/Wigan.
Lets crack on from here...please without peter crouch though......raymears would rather have him than pav hmmmmm....i dont know I cant see any reason for us to keep playing him .....yes i know he set up both goals.
Anyway I hope we can stay in touch until xmas so we can buy a striker and if he's gonna sell pav then do it then....dont be taking the piss harry...treat him with a bit of respect.
I think vdV will actually be a great influence on the squad and lift them.
I'd keep playing hutton at RB and thud in the middle when injuries settle down.
TOM, FUCK YOU AND YOUR FAVORIT PAV. CROUCH ASSISTED TO BOTH GOALS, KNUCKLEHEAD. You have no clue how useful Crouch's knockdowns could be when real footballers are on the receiving end. Pav no being one of them cause he's too dumb to grasp the idea.
ahhhhh beetle do we have to do this all over again and do you have to be so childish and use Caps Lock to get yer point across.
You have your opinion and I have mine.
How many games has crouch played this season and had assists in them?
Big deal he did 2 today so what.
My opinion is that Pav is a better footballer than crouch. He wouldn't have missed the sitter from 5 yards that crouchie did. I'd prefer my strikers to be able to score not get lucky every 5/6 games with an assist.
Any why does this equal me having a favourite? Grow up. Are you really Abbey Clancy ?
So with all due respect F*uck You too. I have my opinion and you have yours. As I said to you before it does not give you or anyone else the right to insult me/anyone else just because we cant agree or our opinions differ (except for the scum fans that come on here)
So keep a lid on the personal insults when you take offence when I or someone else criticizes Crouch. I'll talk football with anyone all day just not when they get immature about things like u just did.
So much positive stuff out there today. Great work from a bunch of players. Rafael was brilliant. Thought Crouch was great. Bale, Modric. But so nice to see good stuff from Lennon, Jenas and Hutton in particular. And nice to see Wilson getting brought on at the end for some confidence building minutes. My only complaint is that we didn't get to see more Sandro. We were very lucky. Villa missed some sitters and blew some terrible opportunities but then again so did we. I still don't understand why Heskey was brought off. Nevertheless, those are tiny gripes, very positive day! COYS!!!! Harry got it right today in my opinion. I think we are still finding our formation with VdV and the best is yet to come.
I very much enjoyed the absence of hoofing it up. Seems to me we saw a lot more of the ball being played on the ground, playing it out of our own half rather than just hoofing it forward. Good match, not that I relaxed until the whistle went, but definitely a pleasure to watch.
Tom, Caps were accidently on. As for the rest, I stand by it. One really has to be fucking blind and extremely cynical to mock Crouch' today game and glorify fucking Russian who missed 2 clear sitters and kept killing our attacking momentum by long back passes or giving ball away. Pav was a waste of space and Harry was spot on to show him the way to dressing room.
Thanks Tom Yeah agreed that we are lucky he was taken off. He absolutely fleeced Bassong on that goal and looked very dangerous. I see your point about Crouch missing some golden opportunities. I just think he did a good job of creating opportunities. Believe me I am often the first to jump on the big freak for being useless but today he was ... actually useful in my not so humble opinion :)
But ask yourself this if there was a decent option available to pav he wouldnt have needed to be do long passes back etc. JJ is often critised for this too but if there is nothing on then there is nothing on. JJ actually played some good forward passes today.
Crouch had 2 assists and others like yourself say he played well. Fair enough I'll agree to disagree but the old saying is true
"Because even the sun shines on a dog's ass some dav"
Looks like VDV is both the goal scoring midfielder we needed AND the player who inspires/ galvanises his team mates. Not bad for 8 million. Pat on the back for the man who brought him to the club.
If you are looking for someone to play the loan striker role, who played it for England in their last 2 games with Rooney behind him ? Not much use if we are hoofing the ball but if we are threading it into channels for him to make runs it could be interesting.
One other of Lanky' knockdown to VdV was last moment cleared by Dunn from Raffa’s booth. It shows that VdV is clever player with great space awareness and know how to play off tall striker and rip benefits. As for Pav, he should at least try to hold the ball as most strikers are supposed to do, and not kicking it 30+ yards back as soon as he feels the heat from a defender. I am sure Pav will not start in any game after Defoe gets back, unless it’s FA Cup game or due to injuries to Crouch. Lanky’s help defending set peaces is barely ever mentioned, but it is real and effective. This part of game is a puzzle for Pav.
He might be in your opinion, Tom. However, I would not expose him if it not for your ridiculous and unfair attempt to belittle Crouch and his contribution and at the same time giving credit to Pav that he didn’t deserve. As a Spurs fan I’m primarily interested in the success of the team, and have no intention to be unfair or outright malicious to any lilywhite player as you seem to be toward Crouch. We all saw the game as was the rest of the world, and everyone is reporting and praising Crouch’s contribution except you. You certainly have the right on your opinion, but I have equal right to piss on it when it is way out of line with facts.
Come on Tom, Crouch is class - he can play it on the ground + i if the ball is hoofed up to him, he can also be quite effective. The only critcism of him that is valid is that he does not have great pace. Why do people just love to hate him? IDK
Pav on the other hand is a good finisher - but that's all he is, he is the guy who shd come on in the 2nd half and will usually score.
What impressed me the most was the way we've been able to cope without 5 recognized CBs - No Kaboul, King, Dawson, Gallas, Woodie, Charlie(Started out as a centre back I believe). Even though, I felt somewhat let down by Bassong's feeble early show against Hesky (that's me trying hard not to be too critical), the way we got about the game ensured that we didn't place too much pressure on our back line & when they did attack, we coped quite well (okay we rode our luck at times).
Our squad's depth & quality is beginning to shine through. I liked the following today:
For the second time at home we've come back from going 1-0 down
We were very good at making the right changes (did I say we? - credit Harry) when we needed to - Lennon on for Pav. And it worked. Second goal started with Lennon cross Crouchie knock down - Bang VDV goal. He could & should have had a hat trick
VDV - we've been crying out (for as long as I can remember) for a truly world classs player & oooh isn't he just silky. He started quietly and watching him in the early stages, I initially thought the midweek exertions had taken too much out of him. No sooner had I started forming those thoughts & like he was reading my mind (& yes he can do that too - that's how good he is at the moment) he came alive. The rest, they say is history!
Jenas - I thought he had a really solid game. He's been much maligned - hasn't he. I'm probably going to upset a few people with this - but hey ho! Despite all the negative press he's received, I've always liked his industry & energetic work rate for the team. He kept things very positive going forward and worked very well with Luka in the middle today. I think he truly deserves applause for his performance today
Gomes - didn't have much to do but had one heart in mouth moment when he didn't get to a cross ( which I felt he should have). On other days, we could have been punished
Overall, brilliant result. Battling performance full of grit and unspurslike determination. Long may it continue
Hutton has no clue what's going on, at best second division player. Also BAE , both have to be replaced with better if we're to fight it out for 4th and go far in the CL
I think i also love VDV miamispur , what a player , i knew he was good but damn that boy is showing to everybody what it means to be a next level player ... the skill , the commitment ... great
On another note , JJ was not too shabby again ... dare we say he is beginning to show some continuity ? He must be scared out of his whits, what whit the not being booed and regular 1st team football combined with decent performances. Still think that he will be more criticised then any other Spurs player by the haters though

scary welshman! not sure where that leaves my whole bromance now? But seriously, excellent work by wookieD
attack ..........red bulls at half time.........attack ..........the match fitness as king said should not be an issue anymore
yogie bear on the wing!
Have to win. Just have to. Have to have to have to.
Yogie Bear? Is JJ playing then?
On my way to the game now. Got a good feeling about this one.
monkey boys been playing with that hair again!! arry wont be happy COYMFS!!!!!!!!!!
What would we do without gb at the moment???
BASSONG IS FUCKING SHIT
Lol!
0-1. Someone will soon be very badly injured in this game. Poor refereeing.
We may not win this game - Hudd is having to play in defence and we are seeing the effect of that loss in our midfield game.
How many times Pav need to be left alone in the box to score? He’s dead wood.
Cream always raises to the top, doesn't it? RvdV is something special. :)
1-1.
vdv > modric
It's apparent that pavlyuchenko should keep himself as far away from the box as possible. It weren't a bad cross, I say swap him and vdv.
COYS
The ref is pure shite pure pure shite.
On the other hand vdV is pure class. Had a relatively quiet 45 but popped up when it mattered. I gotta say though top class cross from Pav for the goal.

no harry i said lennon for crouch not pav
Yeah, Tom, my thought exactly.
When did Villa become such hackers? We'll have injuries after this match.

sweet
and ive got vdV in me fantasy team
Very smart sub by Redknapp to take Modric off for Palacios.
HARRY OUT!! :)
Nice work lads.
Now can we forget the euro hangovers in future. Villa are an ok outfit and we a good job to beat them. Better than West Ham/Wigan.

@nycyid
Heskey was injured apparently/thank god. Bassong struggled against him.
I agree with your assessment but not the crouch part (cant back down now!!) and yeah I did think we'd see sandro on instead of wilson.
I very much enjoyed the absence of hoofing it up. Seems to me we saw a lot more of the ball being played on the ground, playing it out of our own half rather than just hoofing it forward. Good match, not that I relaxed until the whistle went, but definitely a pleasure to watch.

Great partnership between VDV and Crouch developing.
Crouch nods them down and VDV puts them away.
Twice today and one on Wednesday.
Pity our other strikers cannot chip in a few goals to move us up the table.
Tom,

Beetle.
Watch in slow-mo crouchie's second 'assist'
You can clearly see from his head movement that it was actually an attempt on goal.
Anyway I do get your points re pav. I still think he's a better footballer than crouch.
He might be in your opinion, Tom. Can't we like em both? Or at least recognize that our only other option right now til Defoe gets better is Keano?
Where's my crack pipe?
Gonna be a high time in the old town tonight.
I'm more worries about Defoe fitting back in to the team in this 4-5-1. No more long ball then, no more crouch to aim at...
VDV. World class.
I like the whole team, just imagine when Dawson is back.

is it too soon to be in love with VDV? just imagine when the injured players come back, i won't be able to handle it.
Hutton has no clue what's going on, at best second division player.
Also BAE , both have to be replaced with better if we're to fight it out for 4th and go far in the CL
We would be top of the league right now if our strikers could score.
7 games and Pav,Defoe,Keane,Crouch,GDS have scored just 1 goal between them.
It is like playing with one hand tied behind our back.
I think i also love VDV miamispur , what a player , i knew he was good but damn that boy is showing to everybody what it means to be a next level player ... the skill , the commitment ... great
