Best cure for a hangover

Good result. We usually struggle against the Villa.

Jenas played well but was still poor in central midfield. I have a feeling he is a rightback disguised as a midfielder because he is not playing badly but the opposition are still finding it too easy to go through our mid when he is around. IThe right wing or the bench.

As for the tomtraubert vs. beetleblues saga....

Guys. Crouch is not a striker. Strikers score goals. O.k. so the ball hit 3MP's forehead - because he is tall - and RvdV made a goal out of it. True. But is that the only way to make an assist? Because this is not going to go on for long. Opposition managers will soon figure this out (Wigan, West Ham and West Brom already did) and its going to get increasingly hard. Our strikers are having a crazy barren spell and someone just referred to 3MP's performances as great.

I remember a time not so long ago when Donkey Bent used to score 17 goals for us in a rubbish manner and people were not happy...now, all over sudden, zero goals is great! Harry even said his wife could score a goal for us. Well, he better draft her in soon because the 3MP can't score to save his life.

Only fate can save us from the most untalented striker ever.

That said. Van der Vaart can make Gary Doherty seem like the greatest strike partner of all time. He is heaven sent.

Our strikers are playing poorly and have been all year that is beyond doubt.

But the current choice is:

A) strikers who rarely score but do get assists = Crouch

B) strikers who rarely score and get no assists = Pav/Keane/GDS

No brainer of a choice at present.

The pity is that our choices are so limited in the first place.

I don't really want to piss on our parade, but I just read on Wikipedia that Van Der Vaart's favourite team as a boy was Man U. I can see the pound signs in Levy's eyes already.

I think we all know what's going to happen if we fail this season.

Let's just not think about it.

“O.k. so the ball hit 3MP's forehead - because he is tall - and RvdV made a goal out of it. True. But is that the only way to make an assist?”

For the truth sake:
1. “He” made GOALS out of it, not a goal, and not on a single game. And “he” is not Roman who supposedly is a “striker” and was on the pitch. “He” is rather Raffa, who is a midfielder.

2. Harry made mentioned remark following Bend’s miss vs Portsmouth, and not in reference to current scoring drought, as you seem to imply.

“Only fate can save us from the most untalented striker ever.”
Totally agree and hope that Pav will hit the road sooner rather than later.

@nochman/beetle

I love it when someone plays it high to crouchie and he does his 7 touch shuffle while moving away from goal and ending up near the centre circle when he eventually gets it under control.

Pav actually played well last tues up on his own.

I'd also rather have pav shooting on sight than crouchie because there's a better chance of something positive happening when pav hits one. Crouch would never have scored that goal against young boys or those 2 pens last Wednesday.

If pav had been in crouchie's position instead he would have slid vdV in for an easy one on one and we'd have been a goal up before heskey made bassong look like a mug.

Crouch was always maligned for being crap in the air despite being so tall. Is this why he tries to knock it down rather than go for goal? He should be looking to have efforts on goal rather than nodding them down. Or is he actually getting lucky and they are falling to someone? now he's being hailed as something of a messiah.

I don't know and I know I'll get both barrells again but I don't care. I agree crouchie is useful but is not 'class' and I'd rather start pav on his own with vdv supporting.

Well looks like crouchie settled it for us

read in the sun that he reckons vdV makes him look like a decent player!! (yeah he was taking the piss a bit)

The sun also rated both crouch and pav 7/10....strange really as pav only played 45...was he that much better on saturday than crouch in only 45 mins?

Now beetle I dont recall you having a go at others when they slag off other players for being crap. I'll admit crouch was useful on saturday but I'd still rather have pav on for 90. So whats the problem when I talk about 3mp?

Dont take it personally man. I've only actually come out twice and 'slagged him off'

He's useful yeah but we need strikers that can actually make chances for themselves...pav can do that far better than crouchie. And of course he scored the winner at shitteh to nail down 4th. Much kudos to the man for that.

I respect crouchie for coming back to us after being shipped out the first time without being given a 1st team chance. Most of the time though we are too one dimensional when he's up top. If we were playing Chelsea or manure on saturday there's no way he would have had 2 'assists' like that against terry/alex or vidic.

He's deffo a good man to have but as we saw last season in a brief 6-8 game spell pav really could do a lot of damage for us. He needs a run in the team and a bit of tlc.....nothing wrong with that every player is different. I believe he could be referred to a mercurial. Maybe harry sees something in training that we dont and is not prepared to give him a chance. Maybe similar to the gio situation.

Ok so maybe you feel I'm blinkered and not willing to give credit where its due for saturday. I'm not and do give credit to crouchie for sat's performance. Still I believe what I believe as do you so to put an end to this I'll sign off with the following in an attempt to calm things between us.

"Couchie is shit pav is god...end of!"

..................seriously!!................

.......................not!.....................

Lets agree to disagree.

Just to clarify I do know that crouch scored the winner against shitteh....and not pav. That paragraph does not read properly.
