Jan transfer window shenanigans
Day 19 of the month of January and we've had plenty of nothingness thus far. The Sandro 'deal' appears to be nothing more than an amalgamation of possibilities, twisted and scrunched up presenting to us a story that is neither here or there. He's close to signing one minute, no chance the next. Other hack inspired stories tells us that we are after an experienced right-back...because, you know, because we're always short of this rare breed of a footballer.
Victor Moses is likely to sign for Arsenal rather than us where he will no doubt develop a God complex within the first three months of wearing their colours. Have we been linked to anyone else that we could perhaps pencil in as a serious target (rather than fantasy birthed from the Imaginarium of Doctor Murdoch)?
Ben Foster. We bid for him. Utd rejected the bid. We then denied any knowledge of any bid being made in the first place.
My oh my the excitement is almost at epic bed-wetting proportions. I'm positively glowing.
Pav is STILL at the club. He is, honestly, I read it in the papers. Apparently Zenit are no longer interested. But Roman should be content regardless. His wife is hot. Cue countless well at least he's scoring in bed jokes.
And on the subject of strikers, RVN has been re-linked. Again. Apparently we are 'in talks' with the great man. This is perhaps one whisper that I wouldn't shrug about if we managed to pull it off. So no doubt, it won't be happening. Right?
/scratches head
Odds on us signing zilch? I'd say pretty good at the minute. We are nearing nail biting territory. Last minute panic buy blatantly on the cards. Welcome back Raziak!
Unless we can draft Comolli back in for some last minute transfer shenanigans I think Harry might be content with the squad we have. I just hope we are strong enough to last the distance.
I also hope I'm proved wrong, and we do sign someone. Just make sure it ain't a bleeding right-back please Mr Levy.

who wants to come to a club with Keane as captain? yes you guessed it. I blame Keane.
It's all quiet on the N17 front...
Ruud signing to be announced at 11.30am
Signing RVN will be a fantastic addition to the squad. Proven big game player with bottle, shame we didnt sign him before the hull game. COYS
in bulgarian press we linked to lovechs invana forkin. good young forward football player.
Would be a splendid signing. Even for his age. Would score goals when the likes of Defoe mis-fire.
I'll take him.
Linked with Huntelaar again. I would rather him the Ruud but I agree it's up front where we need strengthening.
Who's this zilch? Is he any good?
More importantly, can you play left wing?
Huntelaar. Over-rated. He can do one for all I care.
RVN? pay per play please. On his day deadly, however an expensive pot of glue if he ends up off to the knackers yard after a fortnight.
Our Squad isin't strong enough to make a final push for the CL. We need a CMF to either accompany Palacious or provide back-up. Get that fellow Romeo the Russian out for God's sake and the right wing Gooner. They are a dispuptive force.
And yes a RVN would wake Robbie out of his slumber.
I'm with Tricky on this one. If he picks up a knock, then we're back to where we are now. Three forwards. Pav doesn't count.
Are there no decent 25 year old strikers in world football, in England or in Europe we could perhaps sign? Nope? Okay, Ruud it is then.
There is one thing that works in RVN favour. He already genuinely despises the goons, so there's a natural afinity with the fans.
He's not overly enamoured with his ex-boss if some are to be believed as well! Which generally makes him acceptable to most the rest of the football supporting public.
Some of you talk like its actually going to happen ;-)
TBH Mazza, this one actually makes sense from a footballing perspective. Ruud needs t go somewhere he is going get time on the pitch to boost his chances of WC selection. so he may well be less concerned about CL and status.
He's on a free which is harry's 'perfet price' for aging warhorses that he has doen well with in the past.
At 33 knows he will have to take a wage cut whatever (and has enough to retire anyway), so an 18 months deal to boost his chances of playing in SA whilst adding to his pension pot is no bad thing.
That said, because it makes sense in pure footballing terms, which does mean it probably won't happen. And if it does then he'll probably be injured within the fortnight (as above)!
My fingers are firmly crossed. I think Ruud could link up well with keane.
So no DM? I honestly wonder how much of what Harry says is based around intent or fantasy. I'd go with the latter. Just after the last window closed our twitching messiah was telling everyone how'd listen that we lacked depth in the midfield area, even though he was then happy to see JOH go to Pompey. We are a week and a bit away from the closure of the January window and unless Spurs are working away behind closed doors with no leaks then I don't see us plugging the holes we need to plug. What is it Spooky keeps on saying? Consolidation. Well I don't see it at the moment. Mainly because all the hard work would have been done pre-window and then bids made during it, very early on.
Either we dont have the money or Harry believes he has enough for us to claim 4th spot.
JOH is back with us now.
I always thought that Spooky had a problem with his glazing and was banging on about 'condensation'. That will teach me not to read things properly, it all makes sense now.
hahahaha
No news is good news right? We still have lennon, Modric, Palcious, etc. As long as we sell none of the first team I'll be happy. Most clubs would be delighted to take Keane, Bentley, Jenas, Pav, etc. Sure theres always Carlos kickaball who looks mint on u-tube but is a 33 year old RVN better than PAV or Keane, I THINK NOT!
its 11.58 - did we announce the signing for ruud while i was on the toiletr?
Did you not get the email??
I also went for a pony, still no news on the OS yet, maybe it was 11:30pm?
"THFC1882", you are right about one thing . Who would want to come to this club? But it ain't bcoz of Robbie. I blame fans like you who don't have any respect nor understanding for this club or its players. Robbie is Captain & he plays for Spurs. If you don't like it, go find another club! Otherwise, be true to your club & get behind your team & that means everyone who dons the famous Lilywhite on the field.
"Mazzatron", i think you're spot on there about Keane & Rudd partnership, it could be really awesome!
it just means that he is signing a bit further down the road ...
S4L, I get the feeling that the partnership that Keane and Ruud was referring too, may well have been the one on the bench. That or maybe I'm getting too cynical?
Phew - our first signing will obviously be the Bordeaux right back to provide more competition for Charlie, as Hutton, Naughton and Walker (all current or u21 internationals) are being trained up as emergency keepers. Who thought that one up??
Tricky - you may be getting cynical lol I actually think they'd form a good partnership. Although you are right that more often than not they will probably be on the bench. At least to begin with.
It will never happen anyway, harry has said it won't happen unless pav goes and no one wants him for 10-15m. Take the cut levy, just do it!
Add RVN and Flamini. I think we're stuck with Pav as he'll just refuse to go anywhere. No way to Huntelaar. Never really rated him. If we do nothing, what does that say of our ambition?
The key to the success of the Keane - Van Nistelrooy partnership can be broken down into 2 points.
1. We sell Robbie Keane.
2. Jermain Defoe changes his surname to Keane.
We need to get behind Keane, Literally if necessary, I mean has anyone tried to actually physically drag his form up from the sewrs? Have you even looked down there? And you call yourself fans. Laughable. I lay direct responsibility for Kean's poor form firmly at the door of those who haven't even sent hima get well card. Ruud has promised to pat him on the head and stay well done when Keane manages to tie his own shoelaces correctly. Rudd has also conveniently made himself more slow and out of form than Keane, so that might help. We need to focus our telepathic energies on making sure Keane has a blinder because it's pretty obvious why he's been so awful. It's all you nasty people judging him, like you have a right to expect a footballer who is on 40k a week and cost 15 mil to actually play well!! You sum up all that is wrong with our solar system. Why not try buring your fucking head in the sand once in a while, its warn and grainy! Have some patience, it will only be about 6 years before Keane retires, Give him time! It's not like he's already been a professional footballer for 10 years, is it? He's a newcomer to all this. What right does anyone have to objectively judge his performance and comment on it? None!! Because if you have a negative opinion about him, then not only are you not a true fan, you are also anti-human.
Spurs 4 life - I hate to shatter the illusion, but the pointless gossiping of fans is going to have no influence whatsoever over who joins spurs. The fact you think a professional footballer would pay the slightest attention to anything that is written on these boards tells me that you have a wildly inflated sense of your own importance. You're very naive if you think (as you almost certainly do) that willing Keane to succeed is going to make the slightest difference on his form. Fans -it aint all about you. In fact, sorry to ruin the deam, it aint ever about you. It's our job to watch, and then comment. It is NOT within our remit to influence events with some kind of collective willpower exercise. We could all be brainwashed tomorrow into believing Robbie Keane is the second coming of christ, and he would still play shit. Stop lying to yourself that his poor from is down to anything other than him being crap.
Van Nistelrooy would be a joke imho.
Has RVN played in the last 18 months ?
I thought his injuries were worse than Ledleys.
Dear Mr. Spooky,
2009 was a great Xmas in Boston (USA). A trip to the Lane under the tree. 3 days in London starting this past Friday. I did quite enjoy my time spent in your capital. Lovely city London. Which brings me to my first point.
Considering my new love of spurs over the past four year and always hearing about the lane being in North London and the NLD and what not, i was bit surprised to find that Tottenham is not really in London is it. A tad of disappointment but probably just a fault of my uninformed expectations. That aside, White Hart Lane is truly a fortress and palace of football. inside is beautiful. the outside seems to match the beauty of its surroundings...nudge nudge... Anyway if they the stadium plans dont go through it would be a shame if they didnt go through with the exterior changes planned for the outside the stadium. Spurs need a home that's outward appearance matches the quality of their ambitions. But im sure you already knew that.
Drawing to hull at home obviously was disappointment on my first visit but i would blame mostly on a loss of sharpness from the two week break.
Match opinion. Crouch needs to start for no other reason that he makes up for the lack of aerial strength possessed by our otherwise vertically challened team. I was dismayed to see Dawson point his arm up field the moment he came on, and after that we simply were heaving. There was still plenty of time to play football at that point. Keane is good player and his abilities will not and have disappear in the time of one season. He still got some years left and Defoe will get hurt at some point.
Just curious now, is it usual for the right wing to receive the short thrown in on the left. Anyways that was what Luka was doing. and it is really what he should be doing because the boys is a central midfielder and match winner. Hudd has played very well this season. Hopefully in the the coming years we will be able to have a center midfield rotation like other top teams do, this will be more possible with more game, preferably in europe. From right to left a Niko luka palacios Lennon midfield is a rather a beautiful thing (more diamond really, rather offensive minded midfield as it should be).
We are on our way to Europe in some form or another i have to imagine. Europa would seem a tad disappointing at this point. I think the difference between us in Champions League and us in Europa is down to confidence. A bit more of that and i think we could be there. Confidence is gained in many ways. Picking up 3 points away to the an above ground pool is a good place to start. But i think a signing could help reinvigorate some play, give some competition for spots and all that. We also would not have any excuse at the end of the season.
Im not really sure what his deal is but Gio is a good player. with Hudd looking to be out tomorrow. I really wish, but highly doubt... im sure it ll be fucking jenas... that he should start. Put him on the right with luka in the middle...please, harry please.
Last note, we really can only improve by getting leaner and cutting off the fatty parts of Pav and Bently... JJ. A midfield signing would really do it for me, so would Ruud im starting to think.
anyways. love the blog, read it at Breakfast here in the states,

Spursmass
Spursmass, WHL is most definitely in London. It's a pretty large city ya know! Anything with a postcode beginning with N, NW, SW, SE, W, WC, E or EC is officially counted as being in London. That obviously includes our beloved N17 based club. Trust me!

An experienced striker please.
Glad you enjoyed your trip spursmass, but you really will have to brush up on your London geography, otherwise someone might mistake you for an Arsenal fan.
Ебать назад к югу Лондону
Great post Supermass. Thanks for sharing mate.
I'm an American THFC fan (in CA) and I never confused my geography.......WHL is most def in London
I don't think RVN will help much unless Defoe is injured, and even then I'm not that sure. Bringing in an extra pair of legs on defense will help more. Sandro would have been a nice addition I think but I just don't see the point of throwing a WC lifeline to an older player (who prob has no chance at that anyway) when we already have 4 strikers.
We are still 4th after dropping 8 points in the Stoke, Wolves and Hull matches, I don't think we should buy unless its a young fairly proven defender.
mates i know WHL is in London i was simply drawing attention to how far removed it is from business and affluence of london. It feels like suburb and not a bustling city
and they say we do not have a global fanbase ... Yankees, Belgians,Dutch, Canadians,Aussies,Irish,Arabian friends ...
COYS !
Looking forward to my visit to the Lane next week , i am not as far as spursmass but getting in to the lane is very hard for me because of my own footballing duties ...
loving the midweek games ...
How do you guys feel about the Flamini rumours ? Once a goon ... ?
........It'll never happen
I think for old times sake... we need to sign Chimbo one more time.
