40-1 for the title

Bill Simmons is at it again. From selecting Spurs as his Prem league side to then regretting it and suggesting Newcastle would have been a better choice before (during this summer) citing Liverpool as his summer choice, he's now gone full circle and returned to the Lilywhites as his EPL team. Pesky Yank glory hunter, we can't seem to get rid of him. In a recent trip to Las Vegas he's stuck a bit of money on us to win the league, at 40-1 odds.

High on the fumes of four successive victories. Jinxed it now, haven't you Bill?

Is Simmons still banging on about us? He's ever really taken all this EPL stuff seriously has he? Not like Steve Nash - a true YIDDO!

William Hill had us 125-1 before the beginning of the season... 25/1 before Birmingham, and now 20/1.

40/1 not bad odds at the moment.

"Yank Glory Hunter" It fits him well. He's changed teams like underwear. Fortunately, most of that type here in the US gravitate towards Manu/Arse/Cheatski/ and sometimes Liverpool. The majority of Spurs supporters here are knowledgeable and fun to have a beer with.

Nice one YidKid. You cunts never fail. It's the media that make it up though.

Never realised you had beef with Simmons Spookster. Amusing that you choose to have a pop at him of course, you should go back and read more of his stuff. He is (or at least was and occasional still is) a very entertaining writer. You wish you had 1% of his writing chops (well back in the day, anyway), or 0.1% of the success he has had starting from an identical platform.

Still, much easier to trot out the old Yank-EPL-Sawker jibes I suppose. Looking forward to the next Sky Sports conspiracy post........

I'm not saying he isn't a talented writer. As you so subtle pointed out, who am I to be critical of his mad skills. Its more to do with his yo-yo following of the EPL. His original series where he plucked out Spurs as his 'team' was more than a decent read. His subsequent disinterest in all things English, I guess, was to be expected.

Simmons deserves it though because he picks a team based on his pragmatic elimination of Prem clubs and then not long after decides Newcastle would have been the better option (some sort of comparison to US fans and Geordie fans) and then changes his mind and says Liverpool are like his beloved baseball team and then Simmons does it again when Tottenham beat Liverpool saying he's now loving the Spurs and wants a Huddlestone shirt. He's a bit flaky isn't he?

It's a shame he isn't 100% into it because he could do a world of good in the US for how football is perceived but then he's never really going to be that committed is he? So its all just in the spirit of fun.

He's from halfway around the world, is just learning about the sport/league, and has no "natural" connection with a club like a lot of us do.

I mean, I could understand if he was acting like an authority on Spurs or Spurs fandom, but he aint so far as I know..?

All these rules about who and why and how you are permitted to root for a team are pretty absurd when viewed in the abstract...
