Idiots
Dear Spurs fans,
Take that sense of entitlement and stick it up your a*se. Forget about the money spent at the door, you're meant to support the team above all else so how about behaving in a manner that’s becoming of Spurs rather than defaulting to a stereotype we have so many times in the past made fun of, aiming our laughter at opposing teams that knee-jerk. Okay, so the current transition is not very attractive and enthralling. Might take more than three games for us to find a flow. Are you missing the hedonistic days of Harry Redknapp’s title challenges? Has patience been completely drained from your consciousness? Easier to boo players wearing the shirt than it is to stand up and sing for them? Get this – WE ARE PLAYING AT HOME. It’s your team, back them and let them know, let the opposing side know and let their fans know.
We are Tottenham.
Or is the Roman Empire and you're the emperor, as you look on waiting to be entertained to give the thumbs up or down? Oh wait a minute, you’ve spent a few bob on your food, beer and programme so you’re allowed to heckle the millionaires out on the pitch. Oh how simplistic it all is in your bubble. You might be present at the game but you may as well be sitting in an armchair and how dare Tottenham Hotspur not entertain you for every single second you witness. It’s football it’s not pantomime. You lot are deserving of one thing. Mid-table. Then perhaps you can f*ck off and not drag down the atmosphere to your miserable level, you glory glory-hunters. At this rate, we might even get it. Boo some more.
You remember the back end of last season? That forgotten form that the media do love to dismiss which cost us dearly? Ask Harry Redknapp, I'm sure he'll mention it on Match of the Day this evening. Take that into account and mix it up with new signings and a new coach. Do you want me to draw you a picture? Nah, of course not. We're winning now, you're too busy singing and covering yourselves with validation. Don't tell me booing is emotional. It's lazy. Oh hold up, you're booing again. Not winning any more? Did the other lot score?
You have the right to be critical, frustrated, disappointed. You're welcome to your opinions to lay blame on those you believe deserve it, although quite how you wish to be petulant with your patience is beyond me but then I remember the 90's like they were yesterday so perhaps my skin is thicker. It's not about blind faith, it's about retaining some sense of balance to the argument. Be angry if you wish, but be a Spurs fans when you're watching your team. We are as despondent in display in the stands as some of the players out on the pitch at the moment. Perhaps the players should share the love and start booing us.
We've not even had any truly tangible success, just solid progression. God only knows what kind of expectations we'll have if we did start winning season in, season out.
Yours sincerely,
The rest of us.

I completely agree. Work in progress. New spine. Patience is needed
You are right. I was there, I did nit boo. But what I saw is what I expected to see. He wants to play his way, his system, that takes time. BUT what I saw was a group of players who have no idea about what the manager is after and I see a manager using language during his interviews that can leave me unclear as to what he means.
I think Levy made a mistake in 1. getting rid of Arry and 2. Getting this guy. I hope I am wrong, but I was there for the 90's also, what I saw took me back to that time.
we must support the team and manager 100%. As for Levy, I'm sorry but he's taken something I love and in my opinion take in it back to a time I dont want to remember.
COYS
I agree. I was not at the match but was embarrassed hearing the boos on the radio. I am bitterly disappointed at the poor form we are showing at the start of this season, but booing is only going to apply pressure and that is not helpful. In nearly 50 years of supporting Spurs I can honestly say I have never booed them once. Those showing so little maturity really do need to get a grip or give their tickets to real fans.
Nope Spooks Nope.
You are increasingly becoming an embarrassing apologist for AVB and Levy. Lets look at the facts...again. Between them they opt to take a decision together. That choice they faced?
Either build on existing side (4/5/4) and ethos of the club OR rip it all up and start again. They chose the latter. It suited them both, for AVB his "system" is placed on the alter (rather than the players) and for Levy his profits ensure a big bonus from ENIC.
Spooks. Decisions matter. They have consequences.
Absolutey well said spooky.... This is our 3 rd game with new players and a new manager, it takes time and the boo's are pathetic and totally counter productive... We will improve very soon get behind the team not on top of them
Sorry Spooky but this team has regressed 10 fold and there is no hope it will turn around for the better soon. Too many change of personnel and an immediate change in tactics is contributing to confusion on the field. Thank God Brad's reflexes are still sharp as we would have lost badly at home today. The damage has been done the question is what is the best way forward.
agree, early days, harry cost us last year, he will never admit it, the guy is too interested in hinself. That aside, some mistakes made today by players and Manager but please let give him a chance. I for one want to see that smugg grin wipped of arrys face....
i would not boo but come on take the tinted blinkers off was poor at home to norwich we lacked a leader we lacked movement we lacked 2 wingers we lacked winning mentality body language of the players is off...never felt like we were going to win the game until a flash of quality apart from that the midfield was crap defoe on his own rubbish and the formation at home was wrong..Im sick and tired of reading the same thing over and over again i pay my money and i can do what the hell i like and after years of being sub par and years of knee jerk reaction from the man with the check book its about time we as a club moved forward but alas we have not....lennon is a winger with so much pace he cant beat his man down the right bale a class left winger never once took on the men marking him.....so maybe its you that should do one as its you who wont admit that after 3 games in we have dropped 4 points at home late on to teams who we should be beating... Abv cleared the decks again and its not working yes it may work but what is the vision of the manager and the chairman as yet again its more market trader than chairman who wants his team to be talked about as contenders.....
i hear you man but it hurts pain can make you do and say silly things i get home from the game and regret booing my real true love TOTTENHAM HOTSPURS coys
Don't deflect. This is nothing to do with anything other than some Spurs fans turning into Arsenal fans. Stop trying to twist this round to Levy / AVB because this is exactly what I'm talking about. Fragmentation.
Want to criticise me for giving the new coach the benefit of the doubt, go ahead. Just remember, people booed the team last season too. This is solely about fans that expect everything.
Very well done from the head as well as the heart. Typical of a section of so-called Spurs supporters who don't support the team-they boo. Yes they are entitled to boo but a young child probably feels he's entitled to shout and stamp his foot when things don't go his way. Entitled but knee jerk and not constructive. Perhaps they might like to go and support Villa. They have a foreign owner, no ambition and won't spend money! there, there children.I've found you a new home. Ask mummy for the fare and run along. My,my how I despise these so called supporters. Fans yes-fanatical in their feelings of entitlement. Suporters,no. They need to check the meaning of the word support in a dictionary.
im dissapointed that AVB seems to make the same mistakes. We are playing with 5 in midfield with 2 DMs in home games against weak teams. Also when we do finally get our goal, rather than push for a second, he takes of a striker and brings on another DM. This just encourages pressure, something we havent been able to handle for the past 20 years. Im not going to start shouting AVB out, because thats just ridiculous. But he just needs to be more tactically aware! But the Booos are just crazy
I hear what you're saying about booing, but I think a lot of people are pretty pi$$ed off to be quite honest with you and they don't know any other way to vent their frustration. Sure not every player wants to come to our club. Sure we can't match every buy-out clause or pay the highest wages. But we've all known since 2008 that we need at least one out and out born to bury the ball in the back of the net striker, and it is continually ignored. As for playing Defoe on his own or Livermoore at all don't get me started.
To all the so called "we are Tottenham, super Tottenham, from the Lane" boys that have the temerity to boo our lads on and off the field of play I say one thing, go be an Arsenal fan!!! You don't deserve to be wearing the colours of such a great club whilst standing in the stands booing our team. Jog on the lot of you.
Thats a brilliant idea - the whole team should boo the crowd at half and full time. Pathetic, idiotic spoilt brats - just been given a new toy and trying to throw it out the pram before they've even discovered it's the only way to their ultimate shiny toy of their dreams - consistent titlesand silverware. If your going to boo then you should have to sign a boo - res register so that you can be stoned when the same personel achive the goal of all true fans - glory.
I was there, didn't boo, but I wasn't surprised when people did. We were rubbish. No ideas. Passes going astray. Long balls that lost possession. Take off a striker when one up only to concede.
Not looking good so far.
AVB says that we need to improve and I am glad he acknowledges that. I'd be more worried if, like Brendan Rodgers after the WBA game, he said that we played well.
Really grim watching for all today though, mostly because there was minimal creativity in the first half. As soon as Dembele came on though, he brought so much.
Onwards and upwards.
This is nothing to do with politics. It's about supporting Spurs. Sorry if you can't see that.
Why play Sandro & Livermore in midfield at home against a very average team - both are crap going forward ?
Why play Defoe as a lone striker ?
Why go on the defensive when we score ?
Why was Redknapp Sacked ?
- answers on a postcard please.
I have never booed the players but can understand fans that do - Levy and the board have shot themselves and the fans in the foot big time - I would love to believe the transition stuff but the little faith I had in AVB has been drained away in just two home games against very average teams - his tactics and team selection lead me to think that he is clueless.
I would love to see him succeed but can't see it happening and am sure that Levy is choosing the signings not AVB.
the booers are a disgrace, always have been. if we play like 61 double side in 1st half and faila to do so in the 2nd they will boo.
gotta keep our bottle for a few games..hope Clint can score. We should be ok but i am a bit worried. Come on you Spuuuuuurrrssss.
Ive watched the last 3 games and have to say we have no cutting edge we really need a 25 plus goals as season striker and first half today no ideas in midfield dembele will be a good buy Dempsey I'm unsure honestly think levy is balancing books as our owner is ready to sell which would be best for all
Utter tosh
It's time the players got their fingers out and realised that THEY ARE PLAYING AT HOME
i boooed got stick and got thrown out "sorry to the guy i slapped" but i'm just livid 35 years Ive watched this team at the lane (old bastard yes i know) but i finally snapped THIS IS NOT GOOD AT ALL again i feel ashamed by my action today and i say sorry to my friend who i let down by my foolish behavior but this is no excuse we are in trouble if this continues.
last season we where here but played City and got robbed again at united but this year its the worse for many a year.
AVB and Mr Levy please let me eat my words please Spurs is my life (sad but true) COYS
Bunch of whining numpties. Who the heck judges a team based on 3 performances? Give the team time to gel and there is enough quality to mount a decent charge for top 4. You can't expect a team to be so radically changed and perform with the same fluidity as the previous team which grew over several seasons. And don't forget the outrageous performances at the end of last season. This is not new. We were not world-beaters before.
I am confident we have the players and the manager to take us to the next level. Just needs time. Give it to them.
Seriously how can you judge a team on 3 games in? Should we have sacked Harry after 3 games last season? The manager needs time. There have been big changes at the club, and it will take time to settle down again. Teams won't just turn up at the Lane and roll over. They know we're in transition and they will try and exploit our uncertainty. That uncertainty extends to the fans. If we don't back the team and get on their backs the opposition will detect it. We have to pull together and back the manager. There are a lot of people outside the club who want AVB to fail. Do you want to assist in that failure or would you rather back your club against those outsiders?
We were lucky to emerge with a point today. Norwich were good and we were shite. Worse with a few notable exceptions (Dembele and ... well Dembele) we were BORING.
The last thing our squad needs is to be booed after losing two of our key world-class playmakers and anyone resembling a captain (to injury in the case of Scotty and being out of favor in the case of Daws.)
Then again it's easy for me to condemn the boo-ers from a distance. When the all-too-predictable equalizer came I closed the window on my dodgy stream and walked away from the computer screen. Missed Thudd's red-card but given the state of his hair, he was asking for it. Respect must be earned after all ...
Never a dull moment at WHL. COYS.
I was at the game and yes this was the worst performance of the three so far. Tactically inept by AVB. Agree with all ants says. Crazy to have Sandro and Livermore in midfield for a home game against a so called weaker team. Crazy to take Sandro off and not Livermore ( unless injury). Stupid to take Defoe off for Hudd instead of going for jugular, when we were on top. But worst of all, disgraceful to boo your own team. How the hell do you think the players feel when they hear this, and especially the new players. Dembele was the only one to show some class and then he hears boos. How do you think that will make him feel. Boos make players nervous, and then they shy away from taking responsibilty. When then happens confidence goes quickly and you get in a downward spiral. GIve AVB a chance. Give the team a chance. We ended last season with a wimper so why should this season start much differently. We have better players than most in the PL, with the crowds support not boos they will turn it round. COYS
I have always said the away games are better to go to than the home games (real supporters) unlike the morons we get at home!
Yes I booed. It was impossible not to boo. That was the worst performance I've seen since Ramos. No tactics! None.
Should've lost by 3 goals. THIS WAS NORWICH!!!! Yeah we lost last season to them - but that performance was 1000 times better than today - and last season's was a shocker too!
We must Boo!
If its not good enough.
If players don't perform.
Bale thinks he's George Best. When he feigned injury - again - from a perfect tackle - I booed him! He is a joke sometimes!
Lennon should've been sold. Offers nothing!
We have a voice.
We can cheer and support.
and we did for most of the game.
But when our efforts & passion on the stands are not matched on the field - we should not tolerate it!
You can sit on your pedestal and think its beneath you, but you are not a realist.
Actually, i would question your passion too.
If it hurts - you have to react. You don't walk away and think about getting a pizza on the way home.
THFC supporter for 30 years, presently skeptical about the tactics being played, lone strikers do not force continuous activity in front of the goal, and a non direct link is going to take us back to the times of Gross, and Ramos. Would like to see THFC establish a 3-5-2 with wingbacks (Bale and Lennon) getting crosses in for Ade, and Defoe, with Clint as a supporting striker/centre attacking midfielder, covered by Sandro and Mousa/Gylfi, back three BAE, Vert, and Kyle and keeping goal Lloris (Friedal as sub). Ok, I know Friedal has put a string of fine saves together, and the defense has collapsed during the last few games. A 4-3-3 would be the attacking option if the creativity did not flow to put balls down the avenues, but please stop with the lone striker nonsense. It’s fine having a target man, but their needs to be support. This team is going to take time to gel, and players need to fight and establish themselves in a prime position. First season AVB in charge we’re looking at either bottom half to eighth place in the league, big IF… things gel quick we could be in for a top four finish, but we missed out on the type of players we really needed, and overlooked others that were available for a portion of what Mouts value is.
Let's talk about this booing thing:
As fans how do you register your displeasure? How do you let the players and coaches know you are unhappy with the way they are playing? You either carry a placard like they do in the WWE arena, or walk out out of the stadium before the match ends, or express your frustration vocally. Placards are not effective in football stadium since the cameras won't be able to pick up your signs easily plus placards are not readily available in the stadium to purchase. Walking out on your team before the match ends is tantamount to abandoning and giving up on the team, which is even worse. Booing the team is the only option left.
Booing is a reversed psychological way of motivating the team. It makes the players pull up their jocks and get them to play harder since their performance is not been appreciated. You can't expect fans to cheer them when they are playing poorly do you? Furthermore these are professionals, they are supposed to compartmentalize things like this and not demotivate them.
I was not at the stadium neither did I boo them in front of my television, however I have no issues with those expressing their frustration.
Rome wasn't built in a day. However, when it was built, it has lasted a pretty long time...
Later on this evening, I'll throw up some questions for AVB to answer. Just for the sake of balance. Don't want to be known as an apologist.
Changing tact slightly - what is happening with our defence? We look all at sea. While I appreciate the problems with creativity and a great striker - surely we can try harder to stop teams scoring! Livermore [was it] loses ball and wrestles player to ground and gives away free kick. Cross comes in and header doesnt clear and we look like headless chickens. Same old story. Are we really missing Kaboul? Is it Vert needing time or that he cant play with Gallas. Have Walker and Beny started season slowly. Their attacking wingers seemed to have loads of opportunities to cross. And those free headers. Only two players who I think played well were Dembele and Friedel. Can someone who knows about defence tell me and AVB what currently is wrong?
Serious question
Last season we finished 4th. One point off third.
And yes, we had to sell Modric and that needed to be accounted for. fair play.. King barely featured but yes, probably needed to account for that... But that was all right?
So what exactly was the need for the 'transition' and it whats more needing to take place NOW. Not overtime, not progressively but NOW. MUST.. TRANSITION ..NOW
Bearing in mind, we were in all genuine seriousness the best of the rest (outside of manchester) and we all know it was a gap we were not going to bridge where exactly do we go from that? Where are we transitioning to? We're scrapping everything, only to now try and rebuild to BACK TO WHERE WE WERE!
Its a little retarded no? And worthy of a show of displeasure.
I agree 100%...the booing was embarassing...this is a new team, new manager, and new system...they WILL need time to gel. But I am confident they will. It's frustrating, but we need to support the team...and love the shirt. It will come good! COYS
Thank you Spooky. I managed to catch the game on the telly, as it's not possible for me to watch the games live at the Lane. Naturally I was gutted when we conceded so late in the game once again but I like to believe in the project and expect things to get better. Booing is counter productive and pretty disgusting. There is only one Arry Redknap and thankfully he is no longer at the Lane. AVB will get it right surely. COYS
If you put things into perspective we are 2 points down on the same 3 corresponding fixtures from last season. Obviously disappointing not to have picked up a win yet, but as has been pointed out we weren't exactly setting the world alight at the end of last season. Give him a few more games, if we get to 10-12 games and struggling Levy's firing finger will get very twitchy. It is a decent squad for Moyes to inherit come nov/dec.
I would never ever boo Spurs and I was there today. Another thread is the place to discuss the tactical & transfer problems. This is an even more important time to support our team.
.......you would think the team would be extra motivated at the start of the season against mid table teams, but look at us already!!! 2 points from 3 games!!!! fukkin pathetic against shit like Geordie Whores, Frank Skinners mob and the Inbreds from Norfolk!!!
I don't agree. Fans pay their money and we have a right to expect better. Levy wanted Harry out for whatever reason not the fans. I wasn't at the game but I can honestly say I am worried about what's happening. Yes I realise players need to get used to a manager and a new style of play, but to get played off the park by west Brom and Norwich at home? Bit of a shambles tbh and I reckon levy will have a few sleepless nights wondering if he made a massive mistake...
Several people here have said they can understand the people who boo, because they are unhappy with the tactics and transfers. It's still beyond me. If you are unhappy with the choices made by Mr Levy and the board, or by AVB, send them a letter, or do something else to tell them directly. You DON'T boo the players because you are unhappy with something that has nothing to do with them!!
Also, if you consider yourself to be a Tottenham supporter, you don't boo them no matter what you are unhappy about. You support, because only that will help them get better.
I was at the game today, and didn't boo. People around me did, and I have never been more embarrassed in my life!
I do agree Spooky and i could never boo the team. I was pleased when we got AVB and thought he got a bum deal from the Chavs and wanted to stick it up them.
But... He made the same mistake today that he made last week. Go to 442, get a goal and straight away revert back and invite the oppostion on to you. It was almost a carbon copy goal as well.
I really want AVB to suceed as I was very vocal in my dislike of Arry and his lack of tactical nous from a very early stage.
He needs to find a result asap or Arry's Army (Journos & THFC fans) will quickly make his position untenable.
But FFS stick with him and let's see where we go. It will take time and a bit of luck along the way.
COYS
not being funny ,watched todays game we were absolutely clueless ,we went back to 442 n actually looked likewe knew wot we were doing so after scoring ,super tactician that avb is decides to make exactly the same mistake he did last week, going back to his completelyfarcical formation which actually make the england team looks like they know what they are doing.not being unrealistic here but levys dropped an absolute monumental clanger if avb is such a master tactician why go back to 4231 wot simply didnt work all game yes implement your own ideas but say what you like about harry but at least we were entertainede week in week out he dint win owt but since when supporting spurs been about winning ,sorry but wat5ching spurs at mins like watching liverpool ,in fact if me miissus gave tha oppurtunity to watch spurs or paint the bathroom with a half ich brush i d probably pick the latter, another wanday from were i m stood ,still dont agree wth the booing..coys....
Way too early to judge and the international break will do us good. However Bale and Lennon really need to do more, especially Lennon he is really lucky to be in the first team. Clint will do well and Parker will come in for Livermore or Sandro to provide some leadership. Please give the manager and new players time to settle, existing players need to do more over the coming weeks. Lastly he should go with Caulker ahead of Gallas. Gallas is really not offering us anything.
Lets be honest here. We were rubbish today, tactically 2 holding midfielders at home.
last week jenas this week hudd to defend our lead. Our best player has been friedel in 2 home games.
To look so clueless is a big worry, simply not good enough AVB will be gone by xmas .
Spooks..your comments tonight are as emotional as the boo-ers....we all want it to go well..think the sight of the players on the floor when they scored was worrying though...we have quality players..it will come but perhaps some want more than "it" and that's there perogative...for the record i ain't a boo-er or end of world merchant....just impatient to banish the ghost of Harry..just like you.
No one seeing it? This is Juande Ramos all over again. Same shit, different rapping...
....nice post nycyid. Hudds hair definitely deserved a straight red....what a phukkin plonker he looked!!! Cant blame the ref for getting him out of everyones sight...he did me a favour for sure! British Airways European deserved a straight red too for that patchwork quilt on his bonce!! Now you see what they are wasting our money on......phukkin bad hairdressers!!! I said I wouldnt be happy unless Levy went all out to sign Pep as manager pre-season, but I was quite happy with AVB because of all the reports about how technically good he was, how he applied methodology and data to his work ethic, how tactically astute he is and how he achieved great success in Portugal. Hes here for the next 2 years minimum, so booing this bunch of overpaid under-achievers will probably upset them and make them cry, then they will get all humpy and not be able to play because the fans dont like them.....so all the boo boys will have to wait until at least xmas now before they can do some more booing. We cant afford to upset them right now so give them a few months and see where we are then....I think we will be challenging for the title this year, I can feel it in my plastic knee joint!
If this season turns to rat shit then Levy should take the blame, but also if the spurs can get going and be a top 4 club which with AVB in charge and the spine of the team sold or injured can not see the latter, Levy should be praised, only time will tell.
Will always follow the spurs but fear it will be mid table mediocre this season.
