Idiots

Dear Spurs fans,

Take that sense of entitlement and stick it up your a*se. Forget about the money spent at the door, you're meant to support the team above all else so how about behaving in a manner that’s becoming of Spurs rather than defaulting to a stereotype we have so many times in the past made fun of, aiming our laughter at opposing teams that knee-jerk. Okay, so the current transition is not very attractive and enthralling. Might take more than three games for us to find a flow. Are you missing the hedonistic days of Harry Redknapp’s title challenges? Has patience been completely drained from your consciousness? Easier to boo players wearing the shirt than it is to stand up and sing for them? Get this – WE ARE PLAYING AT HOME. It’s your team, back them and let them know, let the opposing side know and let their fans know.

We are Tottenham.

Or is the Roman Empire and you're the emperor, as you look on waiting to be entertained to give the thumbs up or down? Oh wait a minute, you’ve spent a few bob on your food, beer and programme so you’re allowed to heckle the millionaires out on the pitch. Oh how simplistic it all is in your bubble. You might be present at the game but you may as well be sitting in an armchair and how dare Tottenham Hotspur not entertain you for every single second you witness. It’s football it’s not pantomime. You lot are deserving of one thing. Mid-table. Then perhaps you can f*ck off and not drag down the atmosphere to your miserable level, you glory glory-hunters. At this rate, we might even get it. Boo some more.

You remember the back end of last season? That forgotten form that the media do love to dismiss which cost us dearly? Ask Harry Redknapp, I'm sure he'll mention it on Match of the Day this evening. Take that into account and mix it up with new signings and a new coach. Do you want me to draw you a picture? Nah, of course not. We're winning now, you're too busy singing and covering yourselves with validation. Don't tell me booing is emotional. It's lazy. Oh hold up, you're booing again. Not winning any more? Did the other lot score?

You have the right to be critical, frustrated, disappointed. You're welcome to your opinions to lay blame on those you believe deserve it, although quite how you wish to be petulant with your patience is beyond me but then I remember the 90's like they were yesterday so perhaps my skin is thicker. It's not about blind faith, it's about retaining some sense of balance to the argument. Be angry if you wish, but be a Spurs fans when you're watching your team. We are as despondent in display in the stands as some of the players out on the pitch at the moment. Perhaps the players should share the love and start booing us.

We've not even had any truly tangible success, just solid progression. God only knows what kind of expectations we'll have if we did start winning season in, season out.

Yours sincerely,

The rest of us.

Beetleblues, major difference I am not the manager with known associations to rivals, I am just another supporter who cannot see the positive advantages in booing ones own team! Simple!

Unbelievable, - here we are after 3 games, - one loss two draws, - boos ringing out at The Lane, - calls to sack our New Manager!
Fans demand instant success, - how come AVB is not delivering ?, - he absolutely must win every game ! We deserve to be a Top 4 Team !.....

I cant believe some of the above comments, Yes the 3 past years we did achieve a great measure of success with Harry, played entertaining football - not seen since Kieth Bucks ruled The Lane. Everybody regular on this webside knows that I was screaming from the rooftop to give Harry an extension on his contract, - however that did not happen, - and , -I as a True Spurs fan, - fully accepted that and are now one hundred percent behind our New Manager AVB and his Team !

So for me now to hear " Fairweatherfans " boo, - is very painful indeed. Everybody have a right to criticise in a constructive manner, but to boo our beloved team, - is for me totally counterproductive. I am sure that we all want us to be successful and win each and every game, - but we must all accept that is not going to happen.

Furthermore, - when a New Manager comes in, - he must be given able time to institute his tactics/ way of playing. And as I have said before, - this may very well take a full season or perhaps two full seasons, before we will see the results we all grave !
Therefore I respectfully request from everyone who loves Spurs, that we ALL get behind our New Management Team and Players.

Love The Shirt Love The Spurs

Same mistakes 2 weeks running, Master tactician AVB? has made poor decisions that do not instil any confidence for the rest of the season. Friedel our best player in last 2 home games. Gallas, livermore. Only 1 up front. Booooooooooooo all you like at that rubbish,

Sep 2, 2012 at 4:36 AM | Unregistered Commenterpjaus

I told you so.

AVB is undoing the good work that Harry Redknapp had done.

Tottenham used to have a rather fearsome midfield, now it's just mediocre at best.

Why did Chelsea finish 6th last season? Ask AVB. He drove away Anelka and Alex.

We've learnt the hard way. You Spurs fans and Mr Levy will also find out, to your dismay, that the Portuguese emperor AVB has no clothes.

Go ahead, use the fig leaves of 'it's still early in the season' or 'the team is in transition' to cover that nakedness.

P.S: Brad Friedel saved your arse against Norwich. Show your gratitude to him by replacing him with Lloris? Well done, ingrates.

Those that boo have a right to do so. They cannot call themselves supporters however. Critics yes, supporters no. Buying a ticket makes you a ticket holder, but doesn't automatically make you a supporter regardless of how long you've been buying a ticket. A critic reserves the right to express their agreement (chanting, cheering, singing) or disagreement (boo). A supporter sings and cheers to motivate and to celebrate success on the pitch. Poor performances or disagreeable managerial tactics deserve silence. Booing poor managerial decisions only demoralizes the players and makes the managers more defensive. Are you a supporter or a critic? Which to do the most successful clubs have more of? And what about the small clubs who consistently punch above their weight? What which of the two do they have more of?

Sep 2, 2012 at 5:34 AM | Unregistered Commentersavagepix

Boo all you want. I only ask that when the team inevitably slide back into obscurity because of the negative atmosphere around tr club, you fuckers all leave. Go on, go support United or City, watch them win every week and munch contentedly on the prawn sarnies.

To those who choose to boo: you accomplish nothing and merely show yourselves up as the spoilt, arrogant, fair-weather cunts you really are. It's easy to sing when you're winning. Singing when you're losing: that's the hard bit.

So go on, fuck off to some other club that happens to win more than we do. You won't have to exert your precious 'right to boo' so often then. I honestly would take the financial hit if we tossed you wankers out and lowered ticket prices: maybe then we'd get the atmosphere at the Lane back, and maybe then the hairs on the back of my neck will rise again as 'Oh when the Spurs' rings around the ground non-stop for ninety minutes instead for half a second followed by a chorus of entitled boos.

Sep 2, 2012 at 6:23 AM | Unregistered CommenterDubaiSpur

I did not boo, I was too dumbfounded to boo. For 3 games I have watched a team that tried to bore the other side to death. (With reference to the great quote by the late Danny Blanchflower). Even in the dark days at the end of last season we played with a certain amount of flair. Where has it gone? For two games in a row we have conceded late, to almost identical goals with the ball bouncing around in the box with no one clearing it. This used to be a Spurs trait some years ago. We could never hang on to a lead. After 3 games it appears that we have no tactics, or if we do then the players don't understand them, or don't know how to implement them. Brad was the hardest working keeper on the pitch, for the second game in a row. But for him we could have lost by several goals. Dembele has been a class act and will probably be worth his transfer fee. The arrival of Dempsey, (I didn't see that one coming) will add a bit of fire power up front, which we badly need. Do we blame DL for his last minute frigging about or is it down to AVB and his tactics. Remember Chelsea were all over the place under him. Does AVB have tactics that are not suitable for the PL. or the players he has at the club. With last years squad, minus Modric and King coupled with the six additions, why are we such a dreadful team to watch? The players just don't go off the boil without a good reason. What is it? Unless some one finds the answer very quickly we will be lucky to qualify for the Europa League next season. I know I am a pessimist but for 3 weeks running we have been woeful.

One thing no-one has mentioned is Ade is it me or has he gone sort of invisible? last year at times he was everywhere even defense. Yesterday he cropped up a little here and there, lost the ball and wandered off. I hope Dempsey will have a higher work rate, hold the ball up and spread out opposition defenses and do what Ade did last year, we need someone to free up the middle of the defense. Defoe is not the ideal lone forward we all know that he simply doesnt have the height, and the high crosses aimed in his direction are almost a cruel joke. He needs the space having attacking mids forward, or a second striker if opposition have to mark 4-5 players there has to be more space if we create potential passing lanes.

Sep 2, 2012 at 7:09 AM | Unregistered CommenterColinSC

take away AVB and a couple of new players (there were not that many new players in the starting line-up so no real excuse for the strangers points), that and the West Brom game were pretty terrible. People acccept things will be ropey and there will be a period of transition but there was nothing to cling onto in the hope things will get better.

The "project" is going to take time, a lot longer than many of us would want to accept but thats the way it is. Lets get behind the team and be patient and we probably have to accept that this season we will not be challenging the top four. Maybe finishing 7th to 14th is all that can be expected with all the changes, its certainly looking that way, even so lets support the team.

Sep 2, 2012 at 9:43 AM | Unregistered CommenterTechno

Too bloody right. Regardless of our start to the season, WHL is like a morgue unless we're playing one of the big teams. Fans sit on their hands expecting us to win but as soon as something goes wrong they explode. Why can't you support your team? We need to make WHL a really horrible and intimidating place for the opposition, not for our players. At the moment, it's a nice pitch with a quiet stadium for teams to come and play; is that what we want?

Come on! Do your duty as Spurs fans and get behind the team positively. If you dont want to, then f*** off and do something else with your time on Saturday afternoons....

It's Levy.....It's Levy....LEVY IS THE PROBLEM AT SPURS! WE NEVER SPEND MONEY, PRETEND TO TRY AND SIGN TOP PLAYERS.TOP PLAYERS WILL NEVER COME TO SPURS AS WE ARE TO TIGHT.LEVY'S WAGE STRUCTURE AND TRANSFER POLICY ARE ARE CRAP.HE IS CRAP.ABSOLUTE PRICK OF A MAN.12 YEARS AND NO SUCCESS.EVERY TIME WE HAVE A GOOD TEAM WE NEVER BUILD ON IT.

IN TWO TRANSFER WINDOWS WITH HARRY HE DIDNT GIVE THE BEST MANAGER WE HAVE HAD IN 40 YEARS ANY MONEY.

LEVY = EGO,PROFIT FOR HIM.

PLEASE FELLOW SPURS FANS DON'T BE SO THICK - ITS LEVY THAT HAS TO GO.

I'M ROOTING US TO HAVE A TERRIBLE SEASON - DEMPSEY, DEMBELE, A FRIGGING GOALKEEPER....THE GOALKEEPER WAS PLANNED BUT NOT NEEDED! WE ARE A JOKE!!! BALE WILL LEAVE AND DANIEL THE SHIT BAG LEVY WILL DO THE SAME OLD SAME OLD TRANSFER TRICK - HE COLLECTS MONEY THAT'S ALL HE DOES

HE SEEKS THE HEADLINES FOR HIMSELF

WE NEED AN EXPOSE ON HIS TEAM AT THE CLUB.

12 YEARS, NO STADIUM, JUST TALK TALK TALK....ARSENAL WOULD OF PAID FOR THEIR STADIUM BEFORE THE FIRST BRICK IS PLANTED.

if we keep playin gallas and defoe in this team we are fu..ed, bale is no longer a left wing, dont know what he is, but he is not a wing as he is drifting inside. gallas is a poor defender. caulker must be better than gallas. defoe is himself, ego as hell, when he suddenly did pas to ade, ade was schoked, and lost the ball, or that was his close controll, and that has not improved. why livermoore get game after game is beyond me. dembele and ade on the bench(ade again), when defoe is playing bad, and not preforming. defoe should never start a game, never ever. sandro should play instead of livermoore, he is way better. bale and lennon should stay out wide. dembele should start every game, and gallas should be on the bench forever. but i guess we will give defoe another contract extencion after he played so extremly well agains norwich!!!! why cant avb see that long bals up to defo, who is 150cm tall, are never going to work. i was so angry at the end, same spurs. no tempo,no counter, no pressure, but alot of passing in midtfield, because we get points for keeping the ball, not getting goals. no way will we be top four if this keeps up, but please feel free to belive that we will do. we lost agains ncastle, a game we should have won, wba, we draw(should have wraped that up at halvtime), yesterday i am not sure we even had a goal scoring opportunity against norwich, who could loose 4-0 to everton!!!!! so no i dont beliv e avb will be here beyond x-mas, if this is his high tempo game, because we are going verry slowly forward with all that passing on midtfield. oure players stop up and pass the ball sideways or backwards when we have a counter-attack. so that the oposition will get back with all theyre players, and we do not know who to break down a defending team.

Sep 2, 2012 at 10:04 AM | Unregistered Commenterkols

AVB said at first he expected us to challenge on all 4 fronts. He has also said a top 4 finish is a must. We can't afford this to be a transitional season. I was quite pleased with his appointment and I'll back him but honest first impressions? Clown. Ramos all over again.

Sep 2, 2012 at 10:14 AM | Unregistered CommenterMariner

Did you all genuinely think that when we sold Modric his replacement would fit straight in and we would be fine? As for ripped the team apart, Modric did that himself when he demanded to leave. VdV is the only player who has gone who we have chosen to let go. Get that into your stupid entitled ignorant heads. We didn't even lose and you're booing. None of the new signings has been ready to play yet, and selfish adebayor clearly didnt bother training when he wasn't playing. AVB needs time, be a goddamn supported and give it to him. Still shit after 10 games? Losing games at home? then I won't like it, but I will understand a few boos. 2 fucking games in with half the team out/ineligable and a new manager? you can fuck off to wherever you like. I can't get many tickets - if you feel like burning your season ticket please send it my way instead.

Anyone remember Blackburn last year? Shit at home, good on the road. Now what do you think was the cause for that odd form? IMO the fans took them down [notwithstanding the owner is crazy, and kean is only average but they buckled under the pressure from THEIR OWN FANS] .

Great article spooky.. To all those idiots out there talking about how do we let our displeasure known.. Learn to have some fucking patience ! The atmosphere was so tense that it looked like a concentration camp at times... the players seemed as tentative as I have seen them in a long long time !
Its really naive of anyone to expect the team to just turn up and beat whats in front of it. Give it a rest... If you guys are so fucking bothered about the team and want to let your displeasure known then just stay the fuck away from the lane coz you dont deserve to be there and not the the players/manager.. why is it that some suporters here are telling others to f... off just because they react diffrent than them? fans have every right to boo players that demand millions every month to play, it is theyr work. and when they dont show up for work, or do it poorly, or do not bother to put in a shift, we as fans have every right to vent our feelings. avb has not done his work if he belive that defoe upfront is the answer. or livermoore at midfield, or gallas in defence. and bale is not on the left wing, dont run at oppo-defence. and we have no tempo in our team, we have a slow build up. so avb has tactics all wrong. and wba and cannaries should be 6points, not two, and fans have every right to be frustrated by those two games and the way we croumble at the end of the games. this is something we have not been able to do for years. i do not looking forward to meeting the better teams in the league, everton, lpool, swans, utd, arsenal, chelski, city. everton and those teams was taken into this because the way we currently play, they would mop the field with us. and we can boo if we want.

Sep 2, 2012 at 10:48 AM | Unregistered Commenterkols

today was complete crap and i can't believe my ears to hear booing at the lane. How can AVB have a settled squad when bloody LEVY continues to buy in the last mins of the transfer market he spent no money breaking even buying lesser players than we had. how can he stand and face the crowed with a straight face enic are a disgrace with little ambition its ok to want the big new stadium but you have to have the team to grace it. the fluffing about with ady means he's not match fit defoe spent more time on the floor today. kane never scored a goal all pre season. what the hell is going on LEVY!!!!. We always miss our transfer targets because he takes us down to the wire everytime. There is only one man to blame and it's LEVY. GET BEHIND avb AND THE BOYS THEY WILL TURN IT AROUND. COYS

kols - no-one is saying our opinions can't differ or that you have an entitlement to voice your disappointment. However, when voicing disappointment is all that these 'fans' want to do, what chance do the players and manager stand?

People are saying we don't want another transitional period. Fair enough, I agree. But you can't just stop being in transition, you have to work through it and we're in a transitional period. Deal with it.

What I really can't understand is why people want to spend their money on watching football if they don't enjoy it? Seriously, if you don't like what's happening at Spurs and if you don't want to genuinely support the team, don't come to WHL. There are enough people on the waiting list who want the opportunity to get to a game and SUPPORT THEIR TEAM THROUGH THICK AND THIN.

Things may be 'thin' at the moment but theyve been a damned sight thinner in our not too distant past. It's times like these that your club needs you to do your bit as a fan and get behind the lads.

Chris I'm total agreement, its Levy

I don't blame AVB, after last season any idiot would know not to hire him but Levy sacked the best manager he ever had and signed a failure, its just insane.

We all knew this was THE moment as we had a very good squad that was 2-3 players away from being great, with mods money and a few others we had the cash go do it but that fucking prick messed it all up, we are now a weaker side than last week.

We won't finish fourth and it's guaranteed Bale will go in the summer and Levy will
love that as its more money, and that's what it's all about isn't it Daniel?????

We have to start a campaign to get LEVY OUT and get our club back.

Shame on any spurs fans who boo, I did not go to the game [skint] but listened on the radio [i know its not the same] but we are the spurs full stop and we have all been to hell and back over the years and I have been to many games where we were crap, but I have never stooped to booing the lads [maybe called them a few names]. Its just wrong. Lets wait and see what happens, let the new lads settle in and watch the changes when they gel together. Every word - 100% agree. I honestly believe the people who turn on the team quickly are those who have nothing to celebrate in life, the type who moans at the supermarket when they have to wait a little longer than expected at the till.
New manager, new players, new coaches, new system it takes time to bed all of this in and I believe once AVB's philosophy and strategies are fully incorporated we will be extremely difficult to play against.
So you inpatient sods, I beg you to not get on the backs and add extra unwarranted pressure, it will only hurt us!

Sep 2, 2012 at 12:58 PM | Unregistered Commenterross-da-pep

I still think that we will finish in the top four this season. The reasons for my thoughts are:

1) This team WILL get better, the international break could not have come at a better time. We will be ready for Reading and our season starts there.

2) The top three will be the two Manchester clubs and Chelsea.

3) Arsenal will NOT finish in the top four

4) Liverpool will NOT finish in the top four

5) The only serious challenger we have is Newcastle and l think they will finish in fifth spot.

So there you have it, new team, new manager, new tactics should add up to a good season (after a shakey start) and a top four finish. COYS

No disrespect to Norwich and West Brom but these are teams we should be beating comfortably, the team we had under harry last year would demolished these 2 teams, but no, AVB sticks to his own, stubborn bastard he is and he gonna run this club into the ground..its only a matter a time before the players dont play for him..the crowds boo even more..and hes gets sacked..in the meantime we have to sit back and watch crap and pay for it too, so thats y we boo, if we didnt boo then levy wouldnt hear us, and avb would think things r fine, things r far from fine at white hart lane and im not looking forward to the rest of this dismal season. And another thing, wat a crock of shit in the transfer market...WERES OUR WINGERS MATE??? we have Bale and thats it, dont even tell me aaron lennon is good enough, hes not at all, infact he should of been in the oympics sprinting cuz a footballer ihe is not!!!...and he went and bought more centre midfielders..o good :| But il follow my team thru thick and thin anyway THFC COYS TREVDSPURS

Has it occurred to anyone who booed that the it was a 3pm match, less than 24 hours after the last day of the transfer window closed? Yeah DL is a last minute wheeler dealer who's going to sacrifice early season form to get the most bang for his buck. Your comments are a disgrace and I couldn't disagree with you more. You say "We've not even had any truly tangible success, just solid progression"... yes we have had solid progression under Harry and that started practically from day one that he took over. Levy has made some monumental mistakes most notably with his decisions on managerial hiring and firings while I note he has done a lot of good for us in the manner he has run the club. I am sick of being told just support whoever is in charge and whoever is playing and running the club etc... I am an intelligent adult with success in my business life and I can take an objective view of the situation as I would in business and if I disagree with the decisions being made I have a right to say so and express that. I did not agree with the sacking of Harry, our most successful manager in terms of progression I've seen since I've been going in 1984 and I completely disagreed with the hiring if AVB, a manager with no track record of success and many more negatives than positives in terms of his ability to manage a football team. But not you expect me to be patient as we are going through an overhaul of the team... well the team didn't need an overhaul, we just needed to continue with our positive progression we have seen. For me this is one mistake too far from Levy and if you think AVB will be able to match what Harry achieved while we continue to quite rightly run the club within sensible budgets and wages then I'm sorry but were all going to be very disappointed. We really was starting to move forward in the last few years but once again Levy has destroyed that with the worst two decisions of his time here. As started on 606 yesterday by the presenters, Harry surely can't have been sacked for football reasons, well I hope not and Levy owes us an explanation in my opinion.

The point is that we had a team challenging last year and we have sold all of our playmakers and have not replaced them. Levy has come a cropper again and we are left with a panic buy at the death. Just what has happened to all of the unspent millions we have had in and the CL money over the last few seasons as it definately has not gone on improving the squad. Maybe we are funding Levy's holidays ! That is why people boo when the management are not trying forget AVB he has done as much as physically possible Levy is the problem and the sooner he goes the better !

been a season ticket holder for quite some time now, and what i heard last saturday was disgusting. One of the worst atmospheres ive felt at a match, for the first time i was ashamed of our beloved team. Match of the day spared us some shame by not showing the boos at half time, the boos at full time..and more disgustingly the boos midway through the 1st half when our new signing jan vertonghen miscued a clearance out of play. I, like many spurs fans will never boo my team, but choose to get behind them. I genuinely believe that the fans played a large part in our poor performance against norwich, that atmosphere transpired onto the pitch and the players felt it.

Bit late, but this article is spot on. Thanks Spooky. I don't understand what it is. 3 games we have had. I sit in the park lane end, I did'n't hear anyone boo near me, but if I did I would of had words. How dare they fucking boo. 3 games. A new team, new players, new manager. I hate ALL the cunts that booed. Please, sell your tickets and F off.. don't come back to the lane, bunch of morons, you embarrass me, you disgust me! Don't boo my Tottenham.
