Jog on

So just checking in after a Saturday spent off-line and behold the lack of imagination from the press.

Modric is still leaving even after the club stated he would not, under any circumstances, be sold for any price. But still they can't let go, persisting in brokering a deal for him to Chelsea via the back pages. This leads into the 'fact' that Luka's inevitable guaranteed departure means that Gareth Bale will follow him like a rat deserting a sinking ship.

One season in the bright lights obviously all we're allowed, so dismantle Tottenham they will this summer.

If that isn't enough (and it's obviously not) further fabrication is added to the mix with yet another repeat show (Lennon to Liverpool) and some still persist with the 'rumours' that Sandro will be moved on after a single season at Spurs for a measly £12M.

Patiently waiting for Darren Lewis to share with us another quote from five years ago.

Give it a rest you insufferable *****. Your relentless hard-on for us is an embarrassment.

We are here to stay. Deal with it.

Its not just us they are doing it too - Its the goons too, they are also getting the same treatment with the whole Fabregas and Nasri stories.

Its been relentless for them and got to the point where they dont even read the stories, ive only seen the titles up on news now but refuse to follow any link about any of our players.

On this one fair play to the goons for the way they have handled the situation.

It is a shame that the press want to do this to the 2 teams that play the best football.

Do they not realise they will have an inferior league if they do manage to engineer these moves in someway.

You're hardly going to see rumours of X player at Man Utd being linked constantly with a move away. We all know it's about appeasing the 'big clubs'. I guess the fact Arsenal have joined us in the tabloid pages speaks volumes about what the press think of them these days.

Regardless, how many times can you represent the same story as something new after it's been flogged to death?

Totally agree. There's something sinister in the press's seemingly vested interest in reinforcing a duopoly at the top of the Prem.

Now can we please begin our "summer spending spree" by snatching Odemwingie "from under the nose of Arsene Wenger" (as the press would have it)?

Luka has gone very quiet. As he said, there's plenty of time still to get his move.

Us spending will force them into more of a positive spin, you would hope. You'd think they've love us more considering the coverage we got last year and their adoration of Redknapp and yet...

...oh yeah, not in top four any more. Gotcha.

I agree with you guys. Harry has supposedly said he cannot buy until he sells. What a stupid thing to say.

you only have to look at who some of these so called journalists support, they are like fans writing there own wish list but all the time it undermines the morale of the clubs who these stories are about. daniel levy is the best thing to happen to tottenham in years he is a fan just like the rest of us, if you think back to the sqaud when he took over you can see there has been nothing but progression, on the whole we have a young team packed with talent and some truely world class players. i for one dont believe that levy will allow the work of ten years to be just bought off unless he has plans to buy the spanish u21 side...hopefully!

HAVE YOU SEEN THE GOAL DOS SANTOS HAS SCORED IN THE GOLD CUP FINAL AGAINST THE U.S.?!?

Jun 26, 2011 at 11:16 AM | Unregistered CommenterBigCockerel

Redknapp really doesn't help matters. It pushes the theory forward that chairman and manager are not communicating because most of what Harry says sounds like he's deflecting it all back to the chairman.

fabregas is old news, three seasons old. i do think the daily mail, with its staff reporters who prefer not to be named; ie someone at a desk made it up, have had sandro going and modric and bale all for ridiculously low amounts and now lennon. add that to jenas ohara and palacios and poor old tiom is going to be lonely in the mid-field next year. i know that wilson and kranjcar and jenas are candidates to leave and that a'hara has indeed gone (frankly he would have been useful against the likes of west ham and blackpool last year)

Online news has become a joke, I think more and more people are going to wise up and follow bloggers and their opinions rather than our lazy press. If newspaper sales continue to decline in the way they have been and they dont buck up their ideas online then they will loose any respect they might still have.

Jun 26, 2011 at 11:23 AM | Unregistered Commenteryidal

Meanwhile we have father Jol looking over us now from close quarters, even lending support to the idea we could win the league if we retain modders.

Great to have him back in the limelight. Ive missed you BMJ

The lack of taking in time proper action in order to strengthen the team or obviously manifesting the ambitions of the club, gave reasons to the press to rise different real or fictitious issues and scenarios concerning Spurs.
The press (in order to rise an issue and attract the interest of the public), the agents of the players (in order to achieve higher salaries and longer contracts) and the presidents of the teams (in order to increase the price of a player they plan to sell) can all manipulate the football fans.

What a goal by GDS, shame he was never given a proper chance in the Prem, doubt we'll see him again!

Well said, spooky!

It does feel as if they're trying to dismantle a team. Follow the money or hidden agenda? On the other hand, lazy journalism/scattergun approach are far more likely. Daily "Waste of f***** space" rag!

This transfer merry go round has bean caused by American owners using bank money to massage there big ego's and joining in the new cold war are the Russians and Arabs. The new rules started on the first of June but Chelsea Utd and City are ignoring them Liverpool where trading at a 20 million loss but this has not stopped them dreaming of capturing the fasted winger in Europe for another laughable fee . They will be bankrupt again if Henderson is worth 20 million then Lennon must be worth 25 to 30 Comoli has payed 15 million over the odds for Henderson he was woeful in every game in the under 21. Why are Spurs players on every ones wish list we only just failed to finish fourth yet Lennon is being touted by the team who finished behind us and the old Cartel Liverpool Chelsea Man Utd Arsenal have all bean linked with our players. There is a very good eason for this because we split the cartel and up and stared in the money laden championship and now we are the team the now five cartel fear the most and our players are in the way of there dominance. What fans don't relies if we hang onto our team next ear Chelsea Liverpool Man City Man Utd wont be able to snatch our players because of the new rules and Plattin is waiting to pounce.. If Spurs and Liverpool are still competing then we could see two of the worse offenders booted out because we proved it would not ruin the championship if City and Chelsea where omitted Levey needs to be tough for two more windows and we will be safe if the tapped Players rising by the week don't do a Berbatov season

The press have always been the same. You would think they would want a closer league as it would make their jobs a lot more interesting and sell a shed load more news papers. Lets look on the bright side atleast we haven't had to listen to andy grey's crap this summer lol. Off topic for 1 sec but still a question to our dear Mr Levy, my question is if he could let us fans know what is happening with Dos Santos and has he had a personality clash with himself or Harry, because the kid has bundles of talent and only seems to get better by the game so why is he not in our squad? This might be Just my opinion but i don't think it is, im sorry 4 going off topic just to have a rant. COYS

what annoys me most is the lovin' for City....they are an absolute joke of a club, spending 100s of millions and paying stupid wages which only does damage to football, they do not deserve to be in the lofty position they are and only got there after "winning the lottery"...yet the media love them but try and dismantle & unsettle teams likes Spurs & Arsenal who have grown within their means! as well as playing far more attractive & entertaining football!

The comments today just get better and better. I think GDS is a bit of a party animal problem and although I don't want to spread gossip, Harry practically said he brings the odd hangover into training. That doesn't bode well with Harry. With regard to him saying he has to sell before he can buy, that just encourages other clubs to play 'hard ball' when buying a player and delays the actual sale. Thus it delays any purchases.

Lets face it GDS did seem to love the nite life before and after he first arrived in London but he was very young and nieve. Although with being sold by barca and also not getting a good run of games in a lilly white shirt he seems like a more rounded and professional player imo. I think the hype he got after the world cup give him a better feel than going to a nite club and he seems hungry for respect and love also fame. This could only be good for us.

One of my mates told me about that 12mil offer for Sandro. I told him I didn't realise his boots were so valuable!

Jun 26, 2011 at 2:55 PM | Unregistered CommenterMick from Oz Hotspur

cookiebun, yeah, and BAE doesn't know what team he's playing against and Lennon got sick right before the start of the match. Do you seriously credit anything harry says about the players?

Posted this elsewhere, but maybe harry is uncomfortable buying young players because he is demonstrably unable to develop young players. Dos Santos did have an excellent World Cup and a more than respectable loan spell with racing santander. While watching Dos Santos rip the US a new arsehole last night, I kept asking myself why the hell is this kid out on loan?
