Things Harry Redknapp will say next

First there was the epic “I'm going to go and commit suicide, it's so sad”. Then he delivered the punchy “99.9 per cent of people who go to Tottenham have loved everything they’ve seen. That’s all that matters” and the exquisite “They’re idiots who don’t even watch football".

DML and Spurs fans on Twitter present to you...things Harry Redknapp will say next.

"Bill Nicholson led this club to the double, but he didn't have the handicap of two points from eight games"

Speaking on Oprah Winfrey: "The reason the NDP is non-viable is because there's no room for my statue"

"Spurs fans need to wake up and smell the coffee. If I wasn't appointed boss they'd be sitting midtable in league one"

"I established the club in 1882. Some "Fans" seem to forget that..."

"When I left they had 3 points from 8 games. Triffic compared to where they were when I started"

"Spurs will not be signing any players from La Liga. And up after the break on Sky Sports News, Jim White will be with us"

"Top nine finish is superb for them, superb for this club. Remember, they were bottom when I arrived. Two points from..."

"Look, all I did was unzip and urinate in their direction. I wasn't technically speaking aiming at the home support"

"Two points, eight games, two points, eight games, two points, eight games, two points, eight games"

Harry on potential signings: "I like that Revisita La Norther Premier Hotpoint League. That's the standard of player we'll go for"

"I did tell the FA all about my minor indiscretions when I took the job"

"Yeah, he's a good lad that Tony Cottee. He'll be fantastic upfront with Crouchie with Billy Bonds slotting into midfield"

"I didn't lose today, they did, them lot. Spurs. Nothing to do with me is it?"

"What I'm going to do to celebrate 3 wins from 13 games? Not much, probably just go home and have a bacon sarnie and walk the dogs"

"Crouchie and Defoe, unlucky not to score. Not our day. England fans should be happy. Quarter-final? I'd have taken that"

"I love a bit of wheeling and dealing, it's what makes football proper"

harry does really piss me off at times, he's complaining about us fans wanting to finish in the top four, during a season when he's talked up challenging for the title. We're likely to finish the season with about 10 points less than we had last season and our goal difference is currently 20 worse than what we finished with last season, the champions league run was great, as was our victory at the emirates but that aside the rest of the season has hardly been fantastic.

I read a blog that suggested "arry" had the tactical nouse of a pumpkin! Martin Jol did a great job with less stars, Redknapp just looks for the TV cameras and talks nonsense. I've been going to the lane since 1941 and I take umbridge when an uneducated, uncultured pumpkin tells us fans we're idiots. Levy might do well to look at real coaches such as Moyes etc.

redknapp is a joke! he said spurs could have signed suarez but instead signs useless peinaar. he is taking spurs backwards. this summer is our last chance to mix it with the big boys, if we dont get rid of the deadwood (crouch defoe pav jenas huddlestone hutton etc) and sign some proper players next year we will lose bale and modric. 2 points from 8 games will be lucky to get 1

Not pertinent to this particular thread, but wasn't sure where else to post and frankly couldn't be bothered to look. Surprised with all the striker links that are far-fetched (i.e. Llorente, Rossi, Lukaku etc) we've not been thinking a bit more closely about recent allegiances. Far-fetched because of the other clubs interested who can offer more wages, CL etc, before the diehards start hitting me with their 'how dare you?' stick. We have that heavy-petting relationship we started with Internacional last year, and seeing as Sandro has looked the part wouldn't Leandro Damaio be worth a punt...? Surprised the lazy press haven't concocted this one themselves...

Anyway, Spooky - I'm a long time reader first time poster, and like your work. And that wasn't a chat up line to clarify.

Get this cretin out the club asap.

Its a shame HR has this ego where he thinks he can call us idiots. Of course every teams fans are going to have some individuals never happy. He should just accept people can voice their opinion and take no notice of it.

I get what he is saying but he makes it hard for others to stick up for him with all these jibes at his own fans. He tells us that we have a problem with Gallas, and that he has proven us wrong. Who is he talking about, from the start we were behind him.

His agenda has been to try and bring in ex goons and prove us to be wrong. He then tells us Gallas has been the buy of the season but I think we were better with Daws and Bassong. Yes there have been a few games where Gallas has been class and importantly against Arsenal where we would have been out of sight, so fair play.

Just dont tell us what we can and cant do HR. We would all be more behind you if you show a little more respect for us.

May 14, 2011 at 12:48 PM | Unregistered Commenteryidal

Quote from Bill Nicholson to John Pratt: "I had been getting it in the neck a bit from some of the sections of the crowd at Spurs but Bill expected his players to be men, and he said that the crowd paid our wages and were entitled to have their opinions".

HR seems not to be aware of this. Certainly if I was Levy, I would be insisting that he apologised to the fans. If HR was the manager of a local Tesco, and he gave an interview to the local paper slagging off his customers like this, I suspect that he might be lucky to have a job stacking shelves at the end of the day. I don't see HR apologising, so it is in Levy's hands now.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/may/10/the-fiver-harry-redknapp, good article on harry and how he gets such an easy ride from his mates in the media. Really want this wanker sacked now, fans of other clubs are taking the piss out of us. we were being potrayed as idiots who should know their place and then he had to open his fucking mouth again this morning. what annoys me is his quote that 99.9% of all spurs fans have loved watching the football while the dissenting crowd are a minority. how wrong he is

May 14, 2011 at 12:52 PM | Unregistered Commentermoddle

Thing is I want him to stay but just to stop having such an ego. Get over yourself. Lets also as spurs fans realise that he has achieved a lot for us so we should be more grateful. If we ask him to look at himself then we should do the same.

May 14, 2011 at 1:29 PM | Unregistered CommenterLemonadeMoney

Spooky you no me has a blogger not a very clever one i may had, but if you knew me has a person you would no i was a great sports person a good Northern soul dancer and very good at scrapping if trouble reared its ugly head not a bully more of an equalizer and defender of the weak. So when i say this its based on my life style and this is my Honest opinion of our season so cruelly ended by what i call false enhanced frenetic Tempo . Harry has not got the tenacity of Ferguson and this year has seen him stay Fa friendly even though we have bean on the wrong end of two bad Goals against Chelsea and if you take away Man Citys late goal with Balatelli assisted offside against Blackburn there was a five points swing in favour of City . i will say this in defence of Harry this season has bean the worse for teams using high tempo to gain points resulting in a season of shocks not just here but all over Europe i have said why and got hammered for it because of the way i have written it down in many blogs Even though my English is not up to scratch the jumbled words are true and Kolo Toure has only confirmed to me what i have beans saying for three seasons is true but the sad thing he will get away with it and his team have benefited by the silent B test. So when you have a go at Harry i will defend him even though i criticise him for playing one striker that had more failings than wins especially in the more energetic premiership. He also loaned too many players out like Walker Townsend Rose Caulker who could have given us the Rose factor like last year also Harry let himself down just like i have with his media skills and he has lost a lot of good players for his gaffs Bostock Kranjcar to name a few. Having said all this would i want Harry to leave the answer is a big no because he his well liked by all the media and this is important in a media driven world with all the coverage on television. Where he does needs help is at his side Bond and Joe need replacing with Becks and Jamie Les needs replacing with Sheringham and King should be defensive coach or Woodgate. If we get rid of Harry or let any of these players go Lennon Hudds Defoe even Crouch we will be ruining any chances we have of getting back to the top table under the new finacial rules and with better and more transparent drug testing sanctioned by the player friendly FA and with a better and less horrendous injury list we will be a force next season with or without Van Bale and Modric. This will happen if Harry stays our kids get a chance he refeshes his backroom staff the FA sort all the high Tempo shocks out we will once again have Glory nights at the lane

Please yidal...

This is a person we rescued from perennial relegation battles which he had been involved in for over 25years. We gave him a team of players - assembled by other people - that he had never managed to assemble despite bankrupting various clubs buying poor players. Any average manager could have taken us back to top5.. that is where we were. Luckily for Redknapp, Liverpool went through a disaster season and he finished 4th. If Liverpool had had the same seasons during Jol's time he would also have been 4th. Twice.

Despite giving him this opportunity to make something of his pathetic 25year career, he now goes and joins Arsenal fans in calling us idiots and demanding that we accept our mid table status. "We are "idiots" for wanting more than midtable given our dismal history".

Daniel Levy is a coward if he allows this to go on without making any intervention. What good do this "accept your mediocrity" comments do for the club?

Personally, this season has been horrific (and i've watched each and every game). I'm glad that some find beating the useless Italian teams to be such a high but, as far as I'm concerned, those two Milan teams would be lucky to make Top10 in the EPL. They are piss poor.

And the Suarez issue makes you realise why it is necessary to get rid of this noisy bumble bee of a manager ASAP. The same scouts who advised him not to buy Suarez are the same ones who told him to buy Neville and Pienaar. How are we supposed to trust his scouting team this summer? Actually, my take is that this idiot did not want a striker as he did not want to break up the "absolutely trrific" knockdown act of VDV and his beloved Crouchy (Hasn't he spent 21 Million pounds in Crouch tranfers in his managerial career?).

Its such a pity, just when it seemed we were on our way up. I can't believe the relagation battler that no one wanted as our manager now feels he is the best thing that has ever happened to us. Its simply amazing. We created this idiot...he was a nobody when he came here and was oscillating between Southampton and Portsmouth while been accused of various scandals.

May 14, 2011 at 2:17 PM | Unregistered CommenterRonnie

...even if I have to wait for many years, I will really rejoice the day that Harry Redknapp leaves Spurs.

I'm actually beginning to really despise the idiot. Every single day means another embarrasing quote where the world famous, greatest manager ever, Harold Redknapp shames our poor, unsuccessful, hopeless, little club and its "idiot" fans.

May 14, 2011 at 2:31 PM | Unregistered CommenterRonnie

On the news regarding Niko Kranjcar....

"..A number of clubs are reported to be interested in the services of Kranjcar, as Roma face stiff competition from Italian rivals Juventus and Napoli, as well as German outfit Werder Bremen."

Are we missing a trick here? Why are so many teams interested in a player who cant even get a game at Spurs? How come no one wants Jenas who the great manager Harry Redknapp has determined to be better than Kranjcar?

Before Harry is sacked (and we will eventually sack this con-man), he will have gotten rid of Giovanni Dos Santos, Adel Taarabt, KPB, Kranjcar and possibly Aaron Lennon while leaving us with Pienaar and Peter Crouchy. We are now just the North London Pompey.

May 14, 2011 at 2:42 PM | Unregistered CommenterRonnie

I miss Commolli. There I said it. It seems like maybe we gave this man a hard time, yet many of our top players today were brought in by him - and he has now brought the likes of Suarez to Liverpool, who we could have had - but Harry does not regret not signing him

May 14, 2011 at 2:52 PM | Unregistered Commenterabe

Yes he's got lucky but to be fair he took the shackles off the players and let them play their own game, kept it simple.

Bringing back Keane and Wilson in were absolutley vital to save us that season. So although im irked by his comments im not blind. If anyone could have done what HR has then Ramos would still be coach.

At the same time HR does make mistakes. Niko scored 2 winners in 2 games and then is demoted. Thats just feckin stupid. There are many more examples but you should be careful what you wish for. IMO

May 14, 2011 at 2:52 PM | Unregistered Commenteryidal

Harry's done a lot for Spurs and I want him to be given at least one more season. But his utterances are disappointing. He should accept some responsibility for the rotten end to the season Spurs fans have had to endure. We watched everything slip away and defeat against Liverpool will just about wrap up a very poor second half of the season. Still gutted.

May 14, 2011 at 4:01 PM | Unregistered CommenterMikey S

Harry is the only idiot around WHL. If he just came out and held his hands and said sorry I got it wrong this season, I wasn't good enough. I shouldn't of played 4-5-1 with crouch as a lone striker for most of the season, I should of realised it wasn't working. I should have pulled my finger out of my arse and signed a striker instead I signed players we didn't need. I shouldn't of dropped pav and defoe everytime they scored. I should have played krancjer more often over the likes of Jenas and pienaar as he is better. I shouldn't have persisted with average or out of form players like hutton, crouch, jenas, palacios, gomes when I had better or in form players on the bench. I should of rotated the squad better so that players like Gallas, VDV and Bale were not burnt out. Harry knows deep down its been his formations, selections and failed transfer policy that has caused this season to turn out bad. That's why he is constantley on the defensive..2 points 8 games, they've never known a season like this, the best season they've had etc etc blah blah blah. Belittling the fans and calling them idiots when they are the ones who pay your fat salary is a very idiotic thing to do. Let's digest redknapps 'great season' won 14 Drawn 14 lost 8. Won 1 in 13. League Cup: Out early to Arsenal at home losing 4-1. FA Cup: Out early to Fulham losing 4-0. League: Currentely 6th may not even qualify for Europe. CL: Messed up and lost away to Young Boys/Inter Milan/R Madrid. Let a 2 goal slip in bremen. Drew 0-0 at home to AC Milan and lost 1-0 to R Madrid. The only highlights being beating AC Milan 1-0 away and beating inter at home. The rest we were expected to beat. Players: Strikers scoring 16 between them in the league, we didn't buy what we needed to push on from last season. Lower points total, persisted with a formation that hasn't worked. That's the negatives. The positives: beating ac milan, inter and arsenal away. That's it! So harry where's our great season?! He should read this and realise why us fans have the right to be pissed off! We have gone backwards this season!

May 14, 2011 at 4:03 PM | Unregistered CommenterJay

Also, Harry using Bale's injury as an excuse for the poor last 3rd of season is rich w irony, considering Bale got into the starting team last year only because BAE had an injury.

May 14, 2011 at 4:07 PM | Unregistered CommenterMikey S

I dont think we even need to worry about whether he is a competent manager.

He is an embarassing chavvy little chancer who could end up in prison this year. He takes the credit for everything positive and blames others for everything else. He has no loyalty to us (or any club, he is just a mercenary) - he really wants the England manager job as his last huge payday. He has no respect for our fans, traditions and past success.

He was lucky to join us when we were at a low point when thingc could only get better with the squad we had and the £50 million Levy gave him to avoid relegation.

I wish he would just f*ck off - I would rather have Clive Allen or Chris Hughton if we cant find anyone more experienced - at least they would care about the club and not just themselves.

Sorry, but I cant stand the man!

Arry is a self-serving, crafty media manipulator. It has helped the club at times & been thoroughly entertaining on others. All we are seeing now is the same animal lashing out, in response to his & the clubs failure. The John Pratt/Bill Nicholson reference is sound but this is a leopard and spots job all day long. Arry deserves another season despite his failure to rotate efficiently & unfair freezing out of Kranjcar. A better topic of debate is Les Ferdinand' s contribution.Someone please educate me.

May 14, 2011 at 4:37 PM | Unregistered Commenterjeffreywith1fjefrey

During the World Cup last year it was mentioned how the French team would not perform due to the manager being on his way out.

Many pundit agreed that players would not be able to work for a manager who they knew was leaving in the same way as one who had the long term good of the side in mind.

For all those defending Redknapp consider our season next year.

Do we really want every media opportunity to be about Harry and England? Already the ego has landed. At this point in time if Ancelotti becomes available within the next month I think we would be crazy not to get him (and Ray Wilkins with him).

I think Harry has done a good job, but next season could be a total disaster if he doesn't give a flying **** where we finish. Mid table is where he thinks we should be? Or top of the league? I don't think he knows himself.

May 14, 2011 at 5:41 PM | Unregistered CommenterDiaz

When Harry takes over England and they fail to win anything, is he going to say "Well, they were pretty useless when I took over, so I'm not to blame."?

May 14, 2011 at 5:48 PM | Unregistered CommenterShannon

@Diaz

I think the French analogy isn't really valid, as they had a team with several major egos in it. We only have one ego in ours, and he is not a player.

May 14, 2011 at 6:06 PM | Unregistered CommenterSpurredoninDublin

@Jay...wonderful summary.

@Shannon..."because they've always won the world cup, this England team...they've never had it so good. 99.9% of Englishmen know that this has been their best year"....Harry Redknapp.2013. After England lose 4-0 to Spain at the Bernabeu in a WC qualifier.

Soon, all Spurs fans will realise we are wasting time under a mediocre relegation battler and will support the sacking of this conman. Levy has to do it at halftime of a game just to keep up with tradition. Here are City winning the FA, Liverpool celebrating resurgence, while Spurs fans are being called "idiots" by their own manager.

CL finalist and Premiership winner Alex Ferguson bows to the fans whenever they win nowadays, in the meanwhile, the "greatest manager ever" Harry Redknapp calls his clubs supporters idiots.

May 14, 2011 at 6:29 PM | Unregistered CommenterRonnie

Arry is essentially a Gooner who ended up at West Ham, having failed to make it at Tottenham. Psychologically he's conflicted. He is not 'Mr Tottenham'. He knows he's not Bill Nicholson. He knows he's not even Martin Jol (who was a fan first, and manager a close second, so to speak). Arry talks about Tottenham in the third person, demonstrating that he is not wholly immersed in the culture and tradition of the club. It's 'them' and 'it', not 'I' and 'we'. Fair enough, he's a hired professional but we expect a bit of convincing passion and the scarf tied jauntily round the neck at least. Those wanting him to stfu are entirely right. A bit of a self-imposed media purdah would be refreshing - but he can't stop himself. Message to H - please ring T. Venables Esq for useful hints on more subtle forms of media cultivation.

If he gets through the tax business unscathed, the FA will appoint him as the soft/English option.
He appears to be something of a tactical chancer, as noted above, and his managerial skills extend no further than 'the arm round the shoulder' and a lot of luck. As England manager, he will make Kevin Keegan look like The Special One. Talking of whom, haven't Real Madrid sacked him yet and given him a one-way ticket to the Bruce Grove Job Centre ?

May 14, 2011 at 6:32 PM | Unregistered Commenterwakeywakey

This is pure genius mainly because I'm prettu sure I've seen him doing it from my view in the park lane.

"Look, all I did was unzip and urinate in their direction. I wasn't technically speaking aiming at the home support"

May 14, 2011 at 8:30 PM | Unregistered CommenterDrwinston

Good post Wakeywakey, when Harry said to the media last week " I used to watch them from the terraces "(referring to Spurs) he implied that he was a Spurs fan when in fact he was a Gooner as a schoolboy and his dad did in fact take him to Highbury regularly. The only time he stood on the terraces at WHL was when Arsenal visited, another of his half-truths.
Now it seems we fans should not have an opinion, free speech is no longer the right of passionate supporters of our club, we should accept the utterings of our leader without question in the unwavering belief that he will lead us to the promised land, like sheep we must get in line and follow our illustrious leader in the sure and certain path to glory for if we believe so shall it be.

...has Harry delivered a knock-out blow to all his "idiot" detractors? Which ofcourse includes idiotic me who swore that defeat today was a guarantee.

Well, atleast now we all know that its actually Ledley King who got us the 4th position last season. And that, even with the team playing well, Harry's Crouchy and the strikers still cant score. (I refuse to recognise Crouch-y as a striker).

Sandro+Modric= probably the best in the country
VDV - deserves another season (without the knockdown rubbish)
Lennon - can't play with Kaboul at all.
Rose - where has he been all season. Harry needs to start giving youngsters a chance. Its good for his England CV too.
Cudicini - Why does he accept this substitute role. He is good enough to keep a West Ham up.
Pienaar - He is probably tring too hard to impress. He needs one good successful game to enable him to settle.

Liverpool - they are not all that good. We can pip them to the top 4 next season...at the expense of Arsenal.

That match was actually enjoyable; it goes in with the two derbies and CL as highlights of on otherwise pretty meh season. Nice to break the Anfield hoodoo and glad for Ledley too. I don't know if that match was his actual swansong, but you have to figure the end is nigh, so great for him to get such an excellent win under his belt.

I definitely rate Daws but it was amazing how much better he plays with Ledley. Is it a matter of chemistry or is that understanding achieved just from playing together for so long? Modric & Sandro were fantastic, both playing as if they were indestructible and props to young Rose who was here, there, everywhere.

Over here, the fox pre match show had Jamie Redknapp dispensing wisdom over the phone. Quel surprise, the bon mots included "2 points from 8 games," I kid you not. I quite literally gagged.

2 wins from 14 games. I think today's performance shows that the players want be in Europe next year. Since Harry doesn't, he's entirely welcome to FRO.

would contemplate selling for a stupidly high offer - bale (bark is worst than his bite) lennon (who incidently has served us well and maybe should be allowed to leave)

the rest can leave as long as we bring in a good calibre of replacement
