Fantastic news everybody
West Ham are refusing to sell Scott Parker to Tottenham. Don't care much for Parker, sorry. Was a decent player but can't see how he fits into any possible Spurs line-up for the 2011 season. And I don't quite agree with the Upton Park faithful that there's a vendetta being played out by Harry against them (and you thought I was the paranoid delusional one?).
Know your history - Levy and Sullivan are not exactly best buddies. Not that it would stop us bidding for West Ham players, but it's tiresome because they have very little to offer us in the way of improving our current squad and we all know their club motto 'Thou shall not sell to that bigger club who are not really our rivals but we like to dream they are'.
JR Hartley in da house. Back in your box, I'm just teasing.
In all seriousness, if this isn't Levy trying to wind up his old enemy (oh look I'm now as delusional as the WH fans) then it all comes down to Harry actually rating and wanting Parker.
Which more or less sums up this transfer market and the lack of any genuine gobsmackingly good targets. Real targets, not media soundbites.
As for WH, it's all about decent propaganda for their fans, using the Spurs bid to drum home the fact that they are not a selling club.
I mean seriously, this is the news today. It's not slow, it's flipping backwards.

It wasn't long ago I read someone on thfc1882 (http://www.thfc1882.com/2010/07/20/redknapp-attractive/) about Harry Redknapp's ability to attract better players than we've already got at the club.
From the looks of the players we're being seriously linked with it just shows he actually can't. Bellamy and Parker are mediocre at best with the odd decent game. Remind you of anyone? Jenas perhaps.
Enough's enough. We either stick with what we've got or we go all out to seriously improve the 1st team.
Other rumour elsewhere says Upson. You didn't want Parker - pick this one out of the back of the net!!
From what I have read no offer has been made and so I have to conclude that what is being reported are the delusional rants of a pornographer who's been spanking the monkey a little too much lately. You know that can make you go mad as well as blind ;-)
I'm with the poster above. I don't get why we are buying players that are not signicantly better than we've got.
Unless they're champs league quality then what the point, I mean Parker isn't exactly one for the future is he?
I say lets go all out a buy a top quality player like Ozil, offer £15 mil plus a nice signing on fee to supplement his wage as not to break our pay structure. Think we are seriously lacking up top, would like to see bellemy sign as I think he is massively underrated and can play wide left as an added bonus. Niot interested in Richards and do not understand why so many fello yidos want him to come, he is useless with a chip on his shoulder to boot.
Come on Harry, 1 Triffic player please!
No need for Parker at the Lane, although I think he's a solid player. We need to sign a quality CB as soon as possible though.
not so sure this is anything but a rumour spread about by some old git
Fergie wants Özil, so forget about that. But where does that leave Dimi? Unless Rednose sees Özil as Giggsey's replacement.
Honestly, I'd take him back in a second (at a greatly reduced fee, naturally), and then get rid of Pav or Keane. Obviously most yids would prefer to to keep Pav, and I agree in general. However, if we were bringing home yet another prodigal son I think it might be worth keeping PSB. You may remember 86 goals in two seasons between the two of them? Keane was, playing alongside Berba, the top scoring player in the PL in the 2007 calendar year FFS.
Now I'm just rambling. Berbatov is going nowhere.
But if he did come back, surely it would be with a buch of newfound modesty and humility.
If the hammers were not a selling club they would of been knocking on the door of champions league by now, they always have been and will have to be now as the dept they have will only increase, if they don't get the olympic stadium and sell their ground then sullivian and co will most likely be gone
are we only after targets that speak "geezer" ? is bellamy ,richards, parker a marquee signing ?
the answer is a big fat NO
This is prob the most imp window weve had for decades ,yet we seem to want to fill the squad with at best average players.
If parker is 15m and 75k a week ,with no resale ,I say fck that ,lets go Ozil ,15m ,75k a week, with potential MEGA resale ,plus hes a better player with something to prove ,not an injury prone "geezer" of the top top variety
Probably Sullivan spinning a yarn to try and please the fans.
yeah i liked how sky sports shows the statement of the west ham website saying we are not willing to sell parker and allow tottenham to unsettle parker. BUT surely if spurs wanted to unsettle him they tell sky sports they are hunting parker and what not, not just making a big behind closed doors. WH made it public.. the lot are idiots.
thank god we got refused he wouldn't offer anything to our squad except bad challenges, and we are the type of club to never get away with anything.
Let's have some ground rules.
1 Nobody who isn't an improvement on what we've got.
2 Nobody who will cause us to upset the wages apple cart
Noboidy that will cost us ridiculous money. ( over £20 million say)
3 Nobody over 28
4 Nobody who has turned us down or left because we weren't good enough or big enough.
NOBODY it is then.
Which suits me fine. Our current squad will improve by being kept together with the addition of Sandro, Dos Santos and Santos and maybe Taarabt plus acouple of youngsters.
Its not as sexy as big name transfers but it makes footballing sense to me.
Parker should never even be considered for Spurs, I would rather stick with Jenas than signing that little cunt with a big ego Parker..He turned us down for the sake of money in the past and he can FUCK OFF..Harry should stop chasing SHIT like Bellamy and Parker..To sustain and establish yourself as a top four club you need Ozils,Dzekos, of this world not Bellamys and Parkers..Go and break the Fucking bank and sign 3 top class players and get on with it..FUCKING SHIT PLAYER LIKE PARKER? CAN WE MOVE ON FROM THE PAST PLEASE?
hypothetically speaking ,if 2pf8g's wasnt our current manager ,would we be after primarily British (average) players ?
Answers on a postcard please
and cant be arsed to check this ,but if you look at parker ,bellamy richards etc apps record (or lack of) thru injury, its staggering
The state of the market seems to have been hit by a number of factors. The likes of Man City and others with their bottomless pits of cash from outside of football have totally skewed the market. Now if anyone comes sniffing around a club for their best player, they can instantly slap on a £30m price tag knowing that City would probably cough up. The other clubs who are run on a sound footing cannot compete with this, and nor should they unless they want to follow Leeds down to League One. The other "big" clubs are mired in debt and don't seem to be able to afford these types of sums either. The Chelsea and City wages are similar stumbling blocks, again financed by money from outside of the club. The result is deadlock. If a player is neither affordable or available, then you can't buy unless it's for the sake of it. It's hard to see what signings we can realistically make at the moment.
Sorry lads but what makes you think you have any chance of getting Ozil? Real Madrid are apparently interested. I know spurs have champs league now but they are still a small club with a shit reputation. Do you think Ozil would prefer to be playing in front of 35 thousand mugs in Tottenham or 80 thousand in Madrid at the worlds biggest club. Stick with the likes of Parker boys.
I say thank fu*k for that!!!
Well Robs, looks like Fabregas may be turning down Barcelona and the Bernabau to play for the mugs across the road, so anything's possible ey!
That statement from Gold is a ploy to get Hammer fans behind him when they have no money and will sell other players meanwhile bringing in nobody of note. DON'T WORRY FANS, WE HAVE SCOTT PARKER!!
It's pathetic!
Wow Robs, you can actually connect to the internet from your Caravan! The main issue with your comment is he would be sitting on the bench in front of 80,000 as opposed to PLAYING in fron of 36.
Robs isnt his name ,its what he does for a job !
Some well thought out responses there guys! Surely you appreciate that the likes of Ozil and Luis Fabiano are a little out of your league? Sheffield Wednesday have won the league twice as many times as Spurs! Ozil is coveted by every BIG club in Europe. Obviously the likes of Spurs would love to have him, but you have absolutely no chance. The sooner Harry stops piping on about these players the better, it's getting embarrassing. Joe Cole anyone? You lot were the only ones talking about how much you would love him to join. Was never going to happen in a million years. He moved to Liverpool - a BIG club.
Scott Parker? Ha ha ha. That's a good one.
I want bitty mummy
Why would wetspam announce our intentions if they didn't want to unsettle Parker? Sulivan will do anything to make himslef sound important, hes had the poor old spammers linked with every name under the sun this summer to sell a few more season tickets, lol, thank fcuk there not selling Parker to us, decent player but we cant afford what they and he would require.but at least we know what we can and cannot afford.
Anyone else getting pissed off with Harry in the press constantly, can the man not add up? he gets a budget and fantastic squad so learn to fcuking work with it, not make daft comments in the media about who you would like but the wages..... blah blah, I wish he would keep his mouth shut until the business is done, then mouth off all you want.
Robs:
How long do you think it'll take before "big name" players start to catch on to the fact that Arsenal is the LAST place you should go if you want to win something? ;-)
Re. Joe Cole, he would have come to us over Liverpool in a second if we matched the 90k he's on there. So another question for you: Would you (or Wenger) pay 90k a week for a sicknote like Cole? You know the answer.
From that, it follows logically that it wasn't our "smallness" but our unwillingness to fritter away money needlessly that hindered a deal. I'm pretty sure our balance sheet looks better than the bindippers at the mo', so we COULD have payed it. We simply chose not to.
I realize that with Wenger as your manager you don't know much about how transfers work (not a jibe at Arsene, by the way, how can you criticize emphasis on developing youth, immigrant or no). You have to remember that, of the players Harry (and the rest of the THFC organization) voices admiration for, about 90 % are smokescreens for the players he really wants. Not saying he doesn't tap the actual targets up too, it's just hard to tell when it's a tap-up and when it's complete bollocks.
The second Fabiano signed a new deal in Seville (getting more than we would offer, and paying less tax), our interes was over. That didn't stop Harry from declaring his admiration for him several days later. The point is, the media expect Harry to say SOMETHING, but he can't very well tell the whole truth and only the truth. That would anger other clubs and scupper many potential deals. So he's left with no option but to go on about Fabiano, Özil, Raul and so on.
Don't think for a second that, just because the tabloids print crap about Spurs signing Kaka, any yid faithful are taken in (even though we buy the f'ing things apparently).
LosLorenzo - what are you basing this statement on?: 'Joe Cole, he would have come to us over Liverpool in a second if we matched the 90k he's on there'.
Firstly, how do you know how much he's on at Liverpool? Secondly, how do you know that he was so desperate to join you? The only person who said that was Harry, who, as you've said yourself, is full of sh*t.
Having said that, you seem like a pretty level headed spurs fan. Good to see you don't actually believe that you're in for all these players.
Robs - if you think Cole went to Liverpool because of footballing reasons, you're a mug. And that's not me being cocky about it. Cole followed the money. And why not? He's a spent force in some way with his constant injury plights. Best to be earning 90k than 50-60k. Makes the bench and the treatment room feel so much more comfortable.
Harry talks a lot about Forlan and Fabiano and this player and that player and it's all bollocks. Have we enquired? Probably, but I doubt we can afford or want half the players who get linked. We are a great team for players to use as a way of upping their contract at their current clubs. And Raul as another example, mentions the EPL to spark interest, and obviously good old Spurs get connected with him. I doubt most level headed yiddos believe most of this shit.
Which is funny because when we do make a bid, its for a West Ham player.
The press use Harry and he gives them a soundbite to keep there sports editors happy, but it makes us look like fools to every other supporters as they believe all the sound bites, me I would go with near enough what we have, Livermoore, Townsend and Rose need to be intergrated at the end of games we are winning in order for them not to be left behind, we need to trust our youngsters a bit more.
as soon as Milner goes to citehhhhhhh the merry go round will start, were stuck with Hutton though, no one has got £7-9m for him, O'Hara needs to go to, best for him and us and Jenus needs a new challenge, Harry has got to make it clear to him he's not in the 25 man squad in order for him to leave.
Surely Woodys insured? we would get a nice tickle and so would he if he hung up his boots.
I've come to the conclusion that Gooner blogs must be sh*te since they're always on the Spurs one. Pretty soon, they'll be upping sticks and moving from there to here. Typical nomad nomates. Gooner definition of a site? Somewhere to park your caravan.
I would much rather have Parker than Jenas the invisible man in the Spurs squad so hats off to Levy and Harry for this attempt to strengthen the squad.
WHU not a selling club....didn't their gobshite chairmen (who make 'Arry seem quiet & shy) say the whole sqqad except Parker were up for sale?
I think Parker would be a good fit at Spurs......We cannot rely on Sandro making an instant impact, Palacios is a terrier but his distribution is simply awful, Huddlestone is a distributor but not a DM, Jenas cannot be defined and O'Hara is injured, wants out and not good enough anyway!
If Palacios gets injured, who holds? If Huddlestone gets injured, who creates?
I do not see Modric as a long term CM, the occasional game sure but not where its a battle...most teams coming to the lane will be parking the bus and having 5 men in mdfield...not ideal for Modric in CM.
Parker is a more disciplined DM than Palacios, much better with the ball and gets the odd goal.
I have a sneaky one that WP may be moving on....remember you heard it here first!
Devonshire: Dont think you thought your post through before writing, behind Modric, Lennon and possibly Bale, Wilson is our most important player. His distribution alot of the time is poor because of the Thudds lack of movement, also you mention no creativity without Thudd, he is not our creative player (2 assists I think last season), Lennon, Bale and Modric provide all the creativity along with Kranc, Wilson is going nowhere!!!!!
Robs:
Ok, I can't prove that Joe Cole would have come here had we offered the same wages. Only Joe, his dad and maybe his agent know the answer to that.
The 90k per week have been so widely reported, and never questioned by any party, that I am inclined to beleive it (naïve, I know). Let's put it this way: if Liverpool, a club known to be in financial difficulty, were actually paying considerably less than the quoted 90k, don't you think they'd want to let the fans and other interested parties know the club wasn't paying through the nose for yesterday's news?
What I do know is that he has lived in London for a good while, and likes to play in the Champions' League. Had the money been the same, I don't quite see why he's gone up north. Sure, you could argue that Spurs probably won't have CL next season, but the same is true in equal measure for Lpool.
I'm not having a go at Joe Cole, or you (well, not really..). I'm was just stating my subjective opinion, even though it may have sounded like a statment of fact earlier.
Robs is it all quiet down the road and you're bugging us with your presence? Maybe you should concentrate on your own club's plights during this transfer window. Not much going on down there is there? Oh except Fabregas with a barca shirt. Only mugs believe that Joe Cole would prefer to play for a Liverpool team that hasn't even got a pot to piss in. People like Mascherano who have inside knowledge of how that piss pot excuse for a big club is being run has already put a transfer request in - on his first day of training. Torres is being very quiet about his future as well. That leaves them with Gerrard to carry the whole team yet again, including the crocked Joe Cole this time. I for one was very happy to hear that the money grabbing oaf went to Liverpool!
Your superficial arrogance is laughable.
Think what you want but your going into a new ball park next year, the top level, and your carrying players might have performed during some of last season but clearly aren't cut out for it (and I'm not talking about Jenas or Assou Ekkotto). Unlike you Harry's wise enough to put his sentiments aside, accept this and improve your weaknesses, and getting critisized and laughed at for it.
Scotty might not be spectacular but, very good at an important job and proven capable of contributing against top opposition. Ask any Man U or Chelsea fan who they'd rather face. Up against a good champions league team he'd improve you blindfolded starting in your midfield. Its dissapointing that your manager isn't inflating his opinion of average players and resting on his laurels, as I guess thats more what your hoping for...... and deserve. Looking forward to your visit to Upton park when he'll show you what being a midfielders about.
Is that right Dave? Blindfolded as well!! Is that why Chelsea sold him to you lot? Why wasn't he at the world cup then?
I read it as West Ham tapping up their own player!! They were the ones that went public about how he wasn't for sale, not Spurs, Levy, 'arry or anyone else. I now fully expect Parker to be sold to someone else before the transfer window closes and then Sullivan & Gold can blame nasty Tottenham for unsettling their player. Didn't I also read that they were gonna offer him £20m to stay? £20m for Scott Parker @ 29??? Makes the club look well run during the Icelandic biscuit magnate's tenure....lol!
On a serious note, I've been very disapointed with the recent crop of players being brought through by our feeder club. There really has been no one of note in the last few seasons. About time we cut our ties with Spurs Reserves and look for some more productive partnerships....
I like Parker a lot, but cannot for life of me see where exactly he'd play. I really am at a loss to understand why we're going after players in positions we've got in abundance instead of area's where clearly we're deficient? We wasted time and effort chasing Cole and I believe if Harry had a grip of the purse, we'd have got him, and what then?.Surely these players would be of use, if we were to move a few on, like O'Hara, Jenas and Keane, but there's hardly a queue at the door for them. Centre Half Harry, theres a big guy hobbling about with a swollen knee, and another bigger guy you haven't seen since November...clue?
Parker a very good player and should have played in the World Cup,Ozil ? you know what they say about buying a player on his performance in a World Cup only?
I suggested earlier we could try acquistions from more "left field" sources.
1) Young European talent (German or Spanish U-21?) I did mention Ozil, but that was before the World Cup and he had to make the impact that he did. Anyway, someone who is fearless, does not respect reputations.
2) Those with proven CL experience from lesser-known leagues (Rosenberg, Shaktar, Zenit) - I hear the guy Honda is pretty useful.
3) Promote the most promising talent from our youth team (surely there must be one or two). [Why did we spend so much on Bostock anyway and I understand Ryan Mason has pretty impressive stats] Nothing to lose by giving some of them a chance.
Looking at our squad, worrying areas = we need a healthy first team CB, a good striker, and cover for Gomes, maybe a good young RB to cover for Corluka. We should have enough for the rest of the squad.
I read about the Gosling situation with interest. We could do worse than trawl through the youth ranks of Everton, Man U, Chelsea or Liverpool to unearth some gems. Just putting it out there for discussion.
Apparently Harry has just bought a donkey. You know, the one on the parachute in Russia (courtesy of The Sun).
Not the best start I guess.
Putting 2 and 2 together and getting 7.4, is the Parker statement a red herring and a childish response to Levy exploring the option of the Olympic stadium as the new WHL, currently coveted by the Hammers?
Looking forward to your visit to Upton park when he'll show you what being a midfielders about.
Now who's the one drowning in superficial arrogance?
Thank god we dodged that Average Footballer shaped bullet.
Both him and Milner are overrated horrendously.
Meat and potato players, nowhere near worth the valuations being mentioned!
Milner & Parker for £25m a pop?
Get a grip!
So neither Parker or Raul are coming to WHL and Souless Campbell has lined his pockets with Newcastles cash, despite Wenger trying to keep him.
Best day of the transfer window so far for me.
How has Parker ( and his team ) done against us in recent years ?
Perhaps he should remove the blindfold.
We don't need these injury prone has-beens, just a couple of top players to make the difference.
I see Englands biggest club are trying to buy Luke Young.
Who next for them, Gary Doherty ?
Focussed from Singapore...
You know your football. Thanks for that.
The one thing that has derailed Spurs from winning the league so far is the signing of pathetic overated English players like some sort of addiction. Bentley, Bent, Jenas, Crouch and now Richards, Parker and god know what else!!!!! CRAP signings that have cost us over 50 MILLION in TOTAL.
Enough to buy us MESSI for goodness sake.
Parker is wank, WH are wank, JJ is wank and id rather he stay and play every week than see Parker play for Tottenham.
Cheeky bid for Carrick and Suarez...
hi to all the yids on here i just want to say to mr levy plz dont sign parker he past it plus hammers want ova 15mil for him why not go and sign van der vaart younger better and at5 15 mil wat a bargain and a signing he would be also we need ton push forwrd not backwards 4th spot was brilliant for tottenham we need to push on and stay in the top 4 not bellow,we dont want bellamy, parker, richards,as they injury prone players and they money grabbing gits if u wana sign some players go for players like suarez, van der vaart, vidic, etoo,or some players like that yid army
