Another derby, another win, another DVD

The month of April. Legend has it that it was birthed in the very depths of hell. A fixture list carved out into the back of a damned soul with the blood of virgins inked into the finger nails of Satan.

Arsenal.
Chelsea.
Man Utd.

Two played. Six points. We never beat the big teams. We always bottle it. Stick it up your bollix. Again.

To dare is to f*cking do and we're f*cking doing it. Did I expect it to be this convincing? Or course not. My pre-match concerns bottled into a single assumption which was thinking today would be a little like last Wednesday. Back to the walls, pressure and pressing and counter attacking the ingredients for survival. We'll run out of steam, we all said. No Wilson again? We'll be ruined in midfield. Er. Not quite.

Instead today was altogether a completely different ilk of game. One of swaggering style, sexy and slick, covered in a glossing of grit. A performance of supreme confidence and belief. Absolutely magnificent.

Chelsea have hiccuped away from home a few times this season, and perhaps the pressure got to them today. That's up for debate, no doubt something their fans can talk about. What is beyond debate is that Tottenham got to them.

I f*cking love this club for keeping me eternally entertained.

Wednesday, we beat the pretenders, dicking Arsenal and ending their season. Saturday we beat the real deal, continuing our resurgence against Chelsea by damaging theirs. Three point Lane? Bogey team no more. It's so quiet, it's so quiet, it's so quiet over there.

City lose to a 93rd minute Utd winner and 4th spot twists back into our favour.

Injury and selection issues? Lack of true depth in squad? Fallacies. Heart and desire, intent and control. Tempo made in N17. We've had it all season long, disappointed at times, but in the past two games - when it mattered the most we brought it to the table. Just hope we can do the same against the likes of Bolton and Burnley.

Bale was awesome. Just awesome. What. A. Player. Brilliant goal. Dawson immense. In front of Fabio. Modric in the middle. He  can't play there, can he? Hehe.

Terry red-carded, a delight. Couldn't happen to a nicer bloke. 2-1 was - and I'm pinching myself - not a justifiable scoreline. Should have scored more. Would have been done and dusted long before Lampard’s consolation. Roman guilty of a sitter. Bale and Defoe had efforts.  Bentley's brilliant lob sublime.

Talking of JD. Glad he's got it (penalty) out of his system.

Spurs. Title contenders? Of course not. Title influencers? Aye. Champions League front runners? This week. Yes. Makes you wonder. Had we won through into the Cup final, would the hunger and focus in the league have been this great? Whatever Harry is doing I applaud. The players also deserve the utmost credit for the way we've gone from slipping all over the Wembley pitch to flying amongst the clouds.

We were fantastic. On and off the pitch. Top class. Can't wait to listen to Hansen on MotD tonight. Spurs will always let you down, won't they Alan?

/gloat

Only one team in London. Four days. Two DVDs.

More later when I've stopped dancing on the rooftops.

Tony Trott, that was my brother walking down Blackstock in a Spurs shirt. We live in Highbury but support Spurs, so our attitude is we'll wear the shirt were we f*cking like. Regularly watch Spurs games in Gunners pubs round here - they may not like it, but they just have to lump it. COYS!

And Dean, you're remark about Modric's positional play is spot on. Gudjohnsen did likewise when he came on. Brilliant football brains on both of 'em.

Who's the English Barcelona, who hail from north London? Spurs of course!

"Now imagin how great these last 10 years would feel if you were gunners"

I'd rather be raped daily by meth heads than be an Arsenal fan.

Luckily I'm not from the "Harry out" crew. I always believed that he has us on the right track. It showed last night... with class, oomph, sexiness, swagger, confidence, etc.

Psychotic happiness. COYS!!!!

unf@@king believable wot a week the boys have done us proud COYS!!!!

Apr 18, 2010 at 12:40 PM | Unregistered CommenterThe glory boys

What a fantastic result yesterday for Spurs. Some of my Chelsea mates who always have the blinkers on said Spurs should of won by five against a full strength Chelsea team. Czech made some outstanding saves. How Harry motivated Spurs this week after the massive low on Sunday goes to show what an AMAZING job he is doing. The team spirit was there for all to see again yesterday and long may it continue. The ridiculous critical fans who have shouted the "Arry out" comments and he's not good enough for us as soon as we lose a football match. (And we all know who you are!) Should take a massive mouthful of shut the hell up juice!!! We are so lucky to have Harry in charge of our club, he's totally transformed it in under 20 months. Spurs should be very proud of themselves this morning, keep it going lads!!!! COYS. The support was amazing yesterday again, 12th man!

Brook, you beauty! Thanks for posting again mate! Love it all. Makes me so happy to know that Gooners are having a hard time with this.
Your sad, sorry post actually brings up a good point. Comparing us to you. We beat Cheatski with 5 key players out. Keano was absolutely right when he said we had more depth in the squad than you c*nts. He was just ahead of his time. This week has proven him totally 100% right.

Apr 18, 2010 at 1:20 PM | Unregistered Commenternycyid

Interesting to note we have had no Chelsea supporters on here making excuses.
Big difference to the Arse supporteers attitude after we beat them.

Apr 18, 2010 at 1:42 PM | Unregistered CommenterDAVID

Would love to see Harry in charge for a long period of time. Arsenal, United and Liverpool have had the benefit of having the same Manager in charge for years and have been successful. Rafa has had a harder season this year but I think it would have been wrong for Liverpool to sack him after what he has acheived at the club. So these clubs have stability, the players they want etc. Villa have had O'neil in charge for several seasons and each season their position has improved. Spurs have been to quick in the past to get rid, (Martin Jol for example). Spurs need a Manager in charge for years so they can build and get stronger. The quick fixes don't work it just takes you back to square one. It took us back in the development of the club big time. Spurs have learnt their lesson.

i was guilty of doubting Harry but have decided to go on a barefoot walk to santiago di compostela to aks for forgiveness ...

what a massive game and result

Apr 18, 2010 at 2:20 PM | Unregistered CommenterLemonadeMoney

SUPERB FEW DAYS!
WE BEAT THE SCUM 2-1, WE BEAT THE CHAVS 2-1.
AND BROOK IS STILL SHOWING US HOW MUCH IT HURTS HIS LITTLE GAPED PARTY RING.

Apr 18, 2010 at 2:38 PM | Unregistered CommenterWinterWeekend61

Harry for life as far as I'm concerned. Let him stay as long as he bloody well wants to!!!

Apr 18, 2010 at 2:41 PM | Unregistered Commenternycyid

Lost my voice again.

I can't remember two back to back games like that.

Apart from the mind-blowing pinch yourself glory of stuffing the scum and then Chelsea, I think what makes me happiest is seeing Gareth Bale come of age.

He seems like quite a shy kid, probably had loads of stick at school about his looks and he must've felt like he was jinxed at Spurs and probably really took it to heart. He must've been in a pretty dark place.

Now he's quite rightly getting a standing ovation every game, his name chanted by 30-odd thousand people who adore him every game, and he thoroughly deserves it. It's like a hollywood movie script. Good on him.

We heart you too Gareth, you fucking demon.

If Ferguson tries his usual, I'll personally stab the red nosed sweaty straight in the eyeball with a kebab skewer.

Oi Winterweekend, there's nothing little about my ring. It's wide enough to fit a hadron collider up it.

Apr 18, 2010 at 2:53 PM | Unregistered CommenterBrook

Excellent point, David. I'm going to go way out on a limb here and surmise that maybe this phenomenon has something to do with the managers. Of course the chavs and gooners are more often than not vile and loathsome, but I think if you contrast Ancellotti with Whinger you find a disparity in class particularly where it concerns accepting or even acknowledging defeat.

Making excuses is what Whinger does, all the time so it isn't shocking that Gooners make excuses all the time. I know if I were a gooner I would feel a need to make an excuse for my very existence.

Then again we really did school Cheatski. Only the most deluded among them would come here to make excuses.

Another theory is that most chavs can't read or write. Gooners have a hard enough time with the mother tongue (especially as theirs is French)

It certainly is now Brooky! Oh well, if you can take it...........

Time for more Arsenal excuses. 2-0 up at Wigan with 10 minutes to go and they lose 3-2.
Starting to feel sorry gor them now. Hope they don't roll over against Man City.

Amazing to see how many Wenger out comments there already are! They should keep him, he's doing a great job. And as for Benitez, Liverpool should definitely keep him too, he's excellent, he is.

Apr 18, 2010 at 3:55 PM | Unregistered CommenterMatty K

Wenger out is madness. As much as I hate to say it and as much as I don't like him as a person he is a brilliant manager.

Another beautiful weekend.....just like me.

Wigan are a pretty good side. Not many teams beat them (by 8 goals).

Apr 18, 2010 at 4:32 PM | Unregistered CommenterDAVID

All the gooners who were posting in this blog the other week, the ones who disappeared off the face of the earth on Wednesday night, I hope you've learnt your lessons - stay on your own territory and discuss you're own team that has it's own concerns and worries.

Karma has fucking destroyed you this past week.

Arsenal vs Man City - who do we support for the 90 minutes? Tough one.

Apr 18, 2010 at 5:56 PM | Unregistered CommenterMr Spang

We support defeat for City.

Apr 18, 2010 at 6:06 PM | Registered Commenterspooky

If city win though it's not inconcevable that both us and city get CL at arsanals expense.

Apr 18, 2010 at 6:46 PM | Unregistered CommenterDoglegz

Oh dear. Looks like the waiting list for season tickets at the Emirates has got a bit shorter.

Arse to beat City. Love it if they helped us nab 4th spot. Us being on Champions League parity should intensify the pain of another trophy-free season. Hell, they didn't even get to Wembley! Actually, have they even been to the new Wembley?

Apr 18, 2010 at 6:58 PM | Unregistered CommenterNext Season

Yeah they cheated to get there a few years ago.

Apr 18, 2010 at 7:28 PM | Unregistered CommenterDoglegz

April has been shite.

What, we beat Chelsea and Arsenal?

Who then lost to Wigan?

In the last 10 minutes?

And were 2-0 up?

Who has done what to Sky?

Where's Murdoch gone? Does he know this is happening?

Apr 18, 2010 at 8:16 PM | Unregistered CommenterYiddogray

Now don't get me wrong.. I LOVE Palacios and (pace aside) I'm a fan of Corluka too.. Someone mentioned Palacios earlier but am I the only one thinking that BOTH may struggle to make the team (if fit) next week? Going beyond the - if it's not broke don't fix it - line of thought.. I actually thought Kaboul was quality on the right. He is big, strong and fast! He also has good ability on the ball, all of which compensates for him not being a natural right back. I'm often nervous of getting caught out with Charlie's lack of pace but I thought Kaboul was AWSOME in the last 2 games!! Thoughts?

Apr 18, 2010 at 8:45 PM | Unregistered CommenterWestSydeSpur

I prefer the calmness that is Charlie.
Kaboul still leaves me sweating like a wookie on a rape charge.

Apr 18, 2010 at 9:45 PM | Unregistered CommenterWinterWeekend61

Lets hope harry sticks to this team + lennon and he does not do a wobble and decides to play Crouch. We are a footballing team, we always have been (before Arsenal even realised the ball was round), we always have been and always will be.
Next week: we can do it but: nani on the right against kabul ??? We need King back against Rooney, but would srick to the midfield. If only lennon could play, we would be playing the perfect counter attacking game and don't be surprised we win by 2 clear goals.

I dare United to attack us hard, they will pay...edge of the box........Hud to Luka to Bale to Pav/Defoe!!! I canm see it now!!

Apr 18, 2010 at 9:48 PM | Unregistered Commenterhotspur

United didn't look so hot against City if you ask me.
We've got momentum and they're a bit wobbly.
We can take em.
Simples.

what a week you had! you know that you'll never ever see a week like this again! don't you?

If we hadn't lost those two home games to stoke and wolves we'd be playing for the title darn it. Brook get ready you'll be doing a Liverpool next year sweety

Apr 19, 2010 at 2:41 AM | Unregistered CommenterSpursLA

Reality check:

I read with concern that we are now confident of winning at OT. Whilst we cannot afford to lose, we should not assume Man U will play with the same uncertainty as Chelski and L'Arse.

Man City lost, amongst other reasons, because they assumed they would beat a hitherto struggling Man U. There is nothing more dangerous that a cornered wild animal. Man U were focussed and dangerous on occasion. Also Man U get lucky. Did Stephen Ireland left Scholes alone in the box because he assumed there was no need to mark him? Would Nigel De Jong have left Scholes alone if he was still on the field?

We cannot afford to be complacent. Not now. We must go into this match with the right attitude. Chelski and L'Arse assumed they would roll us over, as usual, by simply turning up. Well they were wrong. So we cannot make the same mistakes they made. Man U have the title to play for. If we lose and Man City win, it's back to square one.
