In-depth analysis on how to dis-mantle Pompey

Just turn up.

That's it. With no dis-respect meant for the crisis club, if we fail to pick up three points today we may as well hand in our resignation for entry into the Top 4. Their best player is Jamie O'Hara who is not eligible to play against us. Done and dusted then, right? FA Cup semi-final dress rehearsal at the ready.

I genuinely can't see anything other than a massive win for us.

Which is probably the reason that even though everything is screaming 'TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TO WIN EASILY', I'm still sort of nervous. Does Avram Grant have keys to a bus?

Sebastien Bassong (ankle), Wilson Palacios (adductor) and the sassy Roman Pavlyuchenko (hamstring) are doubts. Not heard anything about 50/50 Defoe as of yet, but would be (pleasantly) shocked to see him on the bench. Corluka is definitely out. Not sure if that means Kaboul will slot into the right-back position as Walker (Kyle) is injured and hasn't been anywhere first team selection anyway. Staggering how depleted we always seem to be and yet we can still do a job on the opposition. Love it.

Not sure there's much more to say. Play like we did against Fulham second half, that sort of tempo, and we'll have a field day. If Pompey put up strong, defend in numbers then as long as we are patience and don't fall into a frustration trap we'll see it through.

Every game now is of vital importance. Have to aim to win all of them regardless of the opposition.

More later this evening on the aftermath, Sandro signing, Thomas Hitzlsperger and Daniel Levy's comments on 'our progress'. Stay tuned.

That's 'their'. ;)

Maybe James will do another air kick - he's obviously looking to make people happy in the hope of getting that transfer. heh.

Another game that Spurs can't fail to lose - I'm bricking myself already.

I've just been to the loo. Think I'll go again.

One - Nil would suffice today, and indeed in every match from now until the end of the season for me, with goals coming in the form of hysterical own goals by the opposition, cannoning in off JJ's ass, deflecting off a seagull.........

Reaching the CL and all it's riches and all it bestows upon a club, has to be the main aim and hope. The F.A. Cup however, I wanna see serious swagger on the field from our players, and free scoring exploits, and winning with style.

We should batter this lot Wigan-style, just like we did against the other Premiership minnows Wolves, Stoke, Hull..............Please God, let it be a WIgan.

... Wolves...

I'm so glad you aren't in charge of our team.

Yep -- really hard to see beyond a big home win. I hate to be complacent, and we have had the odd shock before such as Wolves but really ...

Just get the job done, be professional and don't underestimate them (as we did Fulham in the first half)

*Their best player.

Tbh I'm getting a 'Wolves' vibe! They were in terrible form before they met us, like Pompey they had just been crushed by the better teams...

I desperately hope I'm wrong :(

The "lets shoot ourselves in the foot - just for the lulz" habit has been a trademark of Spurs for years.

Hopefully today we can avoid it but it will take a few years for Harry to get rid of the bad habits out of our club.

Got loads of friends from Pompey so I hate these occasions.

I'll be as subtle as I can be, so let me just tell you this, my Pompey mates:

Boy, I don't give a shit if you get stuffed today and hope we gonna take your tour bus to shreds and stick each little bit up your tender, debt-ridden behinds.

Please don't take it personally! :/

I spoke too soon ! CROUCHIE !

1-0. That should settle the nerves. It's been a horrible game so far. Pompey look like they've got a goal in them.

2-0. Could have been 2-1.

Take that, three points, Villa get thumped, Everton drop points, West Ham lose again and Arsenal LOL

well that was pretty dull second half but seeing as out GD is pretty strong I guess I'd sacrifice a few goals for the players not having to exert themselves too much. Walker was decent and stood up well to Kanu's trickery. Bale was amazing to watch again.

Bring on Sunderland and their beach ball. Hopefully they can do us a favour tomorrow.

Thought Walker was maybe better than decent, especially for a debut. Granted, he lost it in the corner a couple of times, but he was aggressive going forward and in the tackle. Quite pacy too, although maybe that's exaggerated by a comparison to Twinkletoes Corluka. Bassong coming along nicely, wish he had put the header in.

Routine win, as expected, and without risking injuries and wasting too much energy. Hope Daws was taken off for precaution. Would have preferred seeing Pav getting on for Crouchy rather than the Iceman, but all is good. Still cemented fourth with a lurk at the third position. Life is good.

As a very minor ITK, I overheard Lennon talking today to a friend at WHL......He reckons he will be back for the "3 big games" his words - wants to miss the semi as he is worried he might not be fully recovered.......said Harry wants him back for the semi but he was confident we should be ok....................was also pleased to hear him turn down going out tonight with his friend as he wants to stay fresh doing fitness work til he is fully recovered........he also had very high praise for Kyle Walker before game, said Juve were sniffing round him at the time we signed.......Thought Walker had a decent debut today.....will be nice next season to have some pressure on Charlie.......

I like how Pavlyuchenko has gone from being called whiney to being named sassy. What a difference a few goals make, yeh?

Mar 27, 2010 at 8:59 PM | Unregistered Commenteryangler

That's because he was whiney and now he's sassy. I'm stating fact.

Mar 27, 2010 at 9:50 PM | Registered Commenterspooky

City has managed to make a one man short Wigan pay by beating them 3 nil. Now more than ever we have to win on Saturday.
