MatchDay Frolics: Inter v Spurs

Time for another bout of alternative minute-by-minute comment based musings of the game. Live.

It's Inter versus Spurs.

It all stems from myself requiring in-game therapy by sharing my observations because I need to vent and also strike up a bromance or two with my fellow Spurs fans. Because if you're at home and not in the pub and on your own, then it helps to have others suffering along with you, be it electronically.

This minute-by-minute commentary is not as consistent in terms of structure as the Beeb's version and definitely not as witty and pun-driven as the Guardians. But a f**k load better than ITV's in-game audio commentary. Which, let's face it, isn't exactly the greatest brag in the world. Chiles and company are akin to listening to diarrhetic elephants emptying their bowels, so this blog will easily suffice as a superior companion to the game than the giddy nonsense churned out by the incompetent guardians of the tactic truck.

Point being, unlike the rest, it's all-Spurs.

Rather than update this blog article with dated-by-time comments, I'm going to use the magic of  curated Tweets. So if you follow me on Twitter, you'll see my inane statements of insight as the game progresses. Otherwise, just stay tuned to the below where the curated tweets will appear. I'll also throw in other words of wisdom from fellow Twitter based Spurs fans for additional ample scoffs of hilarity.

To be honest, this is all experimental and it might turn out to be far easier to just update a standard article. Or even easier for you to just sign up to Twitter and follow the direct tweets and get involved yourself.

If the embedded code falls over at any point, then I'll go back to just updating this article. The applet below should auto-refresh, if it doesn't, refresh browser to see new entries.

Bale is amazing.

Cue £70M Madrid bid in the summer.

too comfortable for Inter. 10 men, so not expecting anything else.

Anyone for a game of draughts?

Oct 20, 2010 at 9:22 PM | Unregistered CommenterTerry Nutkins

Bale, what a fucking player.

Sorry Phil, I'll be certain to spend more time practicing my English. Some advice you might like to take yourself after a quick appraisal of your (or since you seem uncertain on the use of punctuation you might have tried "you're" in place of "your") efforts. And I assume they were efforts given your struggle with the caps lock.

And to Stephen my new Liverpool friend, if Rafa is world class and you were that bad last season, just where will woy wead woo? Wown? Woh dwear.

All you cunts, West Ham and Arsenal, you will never NEVER know how it feels to support THFC.

Let me tell you. It's fucking magical.

COYS.

1-0 loss in the San Siro. Stick that up your fucking bollocks.

Oct 20, 2010 at 9:34 PM | Registered Commenterspooky

Great 2nd half from spurs and especially Bale that'll help your goal difference at least.

Oct 20, 2010 at 9:36 PM | Unregistered Commentersteven

Inter: pretty lucky in the end there.

Oct 20, 2010 at 9:36 PM | Unregistered CommenterDr Oyvind

Who-ney? Is there a Bale box set in production?

Oct 20, 2010 at 9:38 PM | Unregistered Commenterjambri

LOL. Brook has disappeared back into the pits.

Wonderful display in the second half in terms of work ethic. Shame nobody has Bales tenacity this evening.

Oct 20, 2010 at 9:42 PM | Unregistered CommenterThe Machine

Sign his handsome monkey head up for life. Lock him up in the chimp enclosure at London Zoo between games if you have to. Just do not let him leave under any circumstances. Ever.

Oct 20, 2010 at 9:42 PM | Unregistered CommenterShelfLife

We (as a collective) were Jenas tonight in that:

1st Half - Worst display for some time, way of the pace, indivual mistakes

2nd Half - hungry, determined, amongst it, proud.

Tottenham Hotspur I heart you for only you could give me moments like this.

Feel ok, but better. Feel like we can still take anyone over two legs

Oct 20, 2010 at 9:44 PM | Unregistered CommenterPaulhasissues

Be proud of our boys tonight. And our support. Like I said, fuck the haters. COYS

Oct 20, 2010 at 9:46 PM | Unregistered CommenterShelfLife

To the person bigging up Rafa. If it was Jose, no way would Inter have conceded three goals against ten men.

Oct 20, 2010 at 10:01 PM | Unregistered CommenterOops

I've never been so happy on the losing side in a match! That was fuckin crazy!!!! Bale 3 goals in the same spot!
10 men down, away at the current champions! good away goals! Fickle Bipolar Fan! I'm bouncin off the walls

Oct 20, 2010 at 10:10 PM | Unregistered CommenterBimspur

Oops: Either would Rafa's liverpool team, in 6 years I could count on one hand the amount of times we even conceeded 3 goals. He's only been there a while, it takes time.

Oct 20, 2010 at 10:11 PM | Unregistered Commentersteven

He has the clout does Rafa. Will be interesting to see how he sets out to beat us at the Lane. I'd say they will defend deep and counter for the 1-0.

Oct 20, 2010 at 10:12 PM | Unregistered CommenterOops

I hate that Green and Lawrencen they should be sacked calling Spurs and taking the piss by saying who do they play on Saturday its a good time to play them . The was laughing and saying Bale will be going and Harry told them he his going nowhere .Why should they be talking about him leaving when we are building a stadium and one of the best training complex around. Football needs to introduce a Salary cap all over Europe because Footballers have to much power and it all to do with Television money.. The Club they are talking about will be Utd when They sell Rooney . What has happened to the new championship rule about earning money City are already minus 100 millon in dept .How are they going to make a profit with 40 thousand crowd will they buy old trafford ?

Oct 20, 2010 at 10:28 PM | Unregistered Commenterdavvspurs

Just when I'm about to break out the seppuku sword..........

BALE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oct 20, 2010 at 10:29 PM | Unregistered CommenterBig Sky Spur

Wow! So much bile from a few contributors earlier - makes you wonder what bacteria they're carrying in their guts eh!
Another few minutes and we could so easily have won !!!! And this with 10 men ( I've always thought the red card + penalty rule was really stupid - guaranteed to throw a game. Such a decision can never lead to a fair contest. However, we looked a bit naive to begin with, Harry needs a more defensive plan away from home.
Anyway, we're well set up for the return COYS!!

Oct 20, 2010 at 10:36 PM | Unregistered CommenterMuser

Dwell done lads with ten men a defence with 20 mins playing together at Fulham a pumped up Benitez side and we still won the second half 3-0 .

Oct 20, 2010 at 10:38 PM | Unregistered Commenterdavvspurs

I fucking love being a spurs fan,to all those c*nts being clever/sympathetic at the end of the first half, see what we can do away with 10 men in the second,be afraid we are no pushovers!!!.

Oct 20, 2010 at 10:38 PM | Unregistered Commenterprestonspur66

Some début frolic.

Not that I was on form in any decent way in terms of comedy tweets, thanks muchly to the comedy Spurs defending in the opening 10 mins. And yet, here we are. Gutted yet happy.

Oct 20, 2010 at 10:41 PM | Registered Commenterspooky

Where did all the WUMs go????

Let's see.

Spurs lost 4-3 away with 10 men to the reigning champions.
Last season Arsenal lost 4-0 away with 11 men to the reigning champions.

:D

Oct 20, 2010 at 10:41 PM | Unregistered CommenterNemmy

Good call nemmy.

Oct 20, 2010 at 10:49 PM | Unregistered Commenterprestonspur66

Every single time, without fail, the West Ham and Arsenal fans troll into the blogs, gloat and cough out the usual assortment of clichéd crap and then....a refresh later they're gone.

Mug off. Every time.

LOLZ.

Oct 20, 2010 at 10:55 PM | Registered Commenterspooky

My mistake, they lost 4-1 away but still with 11 men lol

Oct 20, 2010 at 10:56 PM | Unregistered CommenterNemmy

Thanks for tonight spooky it's been a blast.

Oct 20, 2010 at 10:57 PM | Unregistered Commenterprestonspur66

As soon as Brook is done sucking my cock he'll be back, his absence was due to me taking a long time getting off

Oct 20, 2010 at 11:01 PM | Unregistered CommenterspursLA

We lost, we were woeful in that opening 10 minute spell but the fact the trolls have disappeared says it all. We reclaimed a lot of pride in that second half.

Oct 20, 2010 at 11:03 PM | Unregistered CommenterWest Stand Bagel

Will Brook ever learn.

It's now 53 minutes until the match is shown on TV in the states, but, what a shock, was unable to stay unspoiled. You're blocked on my work computer, Spooky, so it was via the guardian.

Christ, what can you say? Only Spurs. Over the years I've been following, we've generally gotten better, but if anything we're getting even more bi-polar. Coming back with 10 men to concede no more and yet score 3 goals against the champions of Europe? Only Spurs. Can't wait to watch it.

Re sale of Bale to ManU, given their finances, which are essentially the same as 'pool, but with somewhat later maturity dates, there is no way they can pay everything they get for Rooney to purchase another player. If Rooney books in January, as seems to be the consensus, then he has to be replaced in January. I just cannot see Levy selling Bale then for anything less than Rooney's full sale price, which ManU cannot pay. And Rooney leaving so soon after Ronaldo, and Berba's recent example of how big fish at Spurs means bugger all at ManU, would Bale necessarily want to go? Didn't he recently extend his contract here, so shouldn't he be pretty much at the top of wage structure already?

Oct 20, 2010 at 11:17 PM | Unregistered Commenterziegemonster

A coach's dream. A top player who scores in big games. Gareth Bale. And he's on my team.
Life is good.

Oct 21, 2010 at 5:08 AM | Unregistered CommenterNochman

"I just cannot see Levy selling Bale then for anything less than Rooney's full sale price, which ManU cannot pay"

And the rest...... Rooney's contract ends in 18 months. He's not scoring goals and he's not contributing to the team.
Bale's contract has another 5 years to run, he's scoring and he's assisting, not to mention playing with incredible consistency.

Based on Rooney's contract and form, he's worth £25 million TOPS.
Based on Bale's contract and form, he's worth double that.

As we've already seen with the Ronaldo money, United won't be splashing anything out to replace Rooney.

Let's just hope Bale's feet are firmly on the ground, and that he appreciates how Harry stuck by him during his run of defeats.

I just posted this on the board but did you hear this from Alex?

“Sometimes you look in a field and you see a cow and you think it’s a better cow than the one you’ve got in the field. It’s a fact, right, and it never really works out that way. It’s probably the same cow and it’s not as good as your own cow. Some players like to think there’s a better world somewhere else. It never really works.”

We never fail to "be Spurs" do we? Comedy defending, an Arsenal centre half looking like Wenger is paying him to lose, 10 men, 4-0 at half time and staring down the barrel, 3 goal of the month winners from the Welsh Wonder boy, WTF? That wasn't football, that was Spurs. I knew whatever happened, we'd have something to talk about today, and boy do we have that! And please, all the Spammers and Goons, Scousers etc, why oh why do you fell the need to come on a Spurs blog and air your laundry? Have you not got wives, girlfriends or some DIY to get on with?
See you at the Lane, Tues 2nd Nov.
