Who's the Pompey mystery man?

From the Beeb:

BBC South understands that the deal to sell Begovic has been done without the support of either Storrie or executive director Mark Jacob, the lawyer of owner Ali Al Faraj.

Which means that Ali Al Faraj is also not involved, I guess. You'd think. Unless he's personally dealing with the transfers. Without the aid of his lawyer. Hmm.

So who exactly is speaking to Daniel Levy over the transfers of Kaboul and Begovic?

The annoying twat with the cowbell? One of the groundsmen? Red Rum?

My money's on Ian Beale. Innocent of killing Archie Mitchell but shrewd enough to mastermind the take over of Pompey whilst behind bars in order to fund his next venture. Ian Beale action figures with removalable goatees. Actually, that makes no sense at all. Pompey are debt ridden, so he has no chance of making any money out of it to aid the manufacture of the figures in secret sweat shops housed in deepest Walford.

Spooky Understands its Ali Al Faraj, as owner, doing what he wants to do because he owns the club and things are beyond desperate. If he's not talking to his manager and his chief executive, that's an internal issue with Portsmouth. His lawyer, being a lawyer, is unlikely to assist or admit nothing to BBC South anyway.

It's basically none of our business either way and if the players are available, and we want them, then our chairman will no doubt speak to the person/s at Pompey who are tasked with negotiating transfers.

The original news article from the BBC is simply based on conjecture from the mouth of Storrie, so believe what you want.

£6M for the both of them is the reported combined price tag. We do love a bargain.

But seriously...KABOUL? Really?

It's Ian Beale. Nailed on.

Blessing its not Storrie involved. Can you imagine if he was and Harry got involved? We'd sign the players for £1M and the two of them would waddle out of the meeting with stuff pockets.

Does Ali Al Faraj speak decent English? Sorry, don't really give two shits about Pompey, don't pay attention to them. Seems strange that he pays people to deal with transfer and yet ignore their assistance altogether. Perhaps Storrie is in the know and is just pissed about it.

I heard it was 'The Hooded Claw's' alter ego Sylverter Sneekly.

Just goes to show how much 'cloak and dagger' there is on the south coast curently.

Bassong v Kaboul - who do you reckon? Bassong flitting round, a multitude of quick, light little jabs here and there. Getting in there and doing damage around the torso. Kaboul, looking him squarely in the eye and kabbammm! Knocked spark out. Kaboul = Kabull.

It'll be ok, don't worry, we've got other things to worry about - didn't think he got a fair crack in the first place.

Portsmouth has turned into the UKs biggest boot fare, i think they are all walking aroung with little post it notes with 50p written on with biro. It when you see the state these teams are getting into you realise that Levy is actually not that bad!! Kabol himslef will be a good signing but the thought of Dawson and him in the centre of defence together is scaryer than coming out the shower and having to pick something up with Sol Campbell and JJ standing behind me with a mobile phone in his hand COYS

Jan 29, 2010 at 12:00 PM | Unregistered Commenterfolkestone_yid

£6m for the pair? We could probably sell Kaboul on again for £6m in the summer and therefore get Begovic for free! Wheel'n'deal 'arry, wheel'n'deal......

Jan 29, 2010 at 12:05 PM | Unregistered CommenterNayim

Not that I'm a great fan of their fans but I do feel sorry for them. Much in the same way as I do Crystal Palace. But I think with Pompey a lot of it is self inflicted.

Kaboul; well when he was at the Lane he was expected to be the new Ledley. How disappointed we were that he was not. Does he deserve another chance? Harry saw him at Pompey and must think the best is still to come.

Jan 29, 2010 at 12:12 PM | Unregistered CommenterStevo

Surely khabul (haha) is expecting first team football having captained Pompey. Who would he displace - Daws, JJ/Hudd, Wilson? Or is it simply a case of levy seeing a sinking ship and saying 'if you cant pay us what you owe, we'll have some assets please' - and if theyre no use to use we'll sell them on. Of course until its announced we havent actually signed anyone - not even sure if Eider is done yet - so anything could happen. I see the makings of a great book/film - how about 'For whom the bell chimes' as a title?

Grant was fuming when he found finance officer Danny Azougy, a convicted fraudster banned from practising law in his home country, was preparing to flog two key players in a joint deal which will net just £7million.
Azougy was acting on the direct orders of absent owner Ali Al-Faraj in a desperate bid to save the club from going bust within days.

Anyone else feel we should be looking to bring Adam Johnson in. The kid has bags of potential and can ad the pace and penetration that is non existent when lennon is not in the team. He also score goals which our midfield lacks and any team looking to challenge needs!

Jan 29, 2010 at 12:28 PM | Unregistered CommenterOssie

I would be happy to see Kaboul back, he shows the aggression and hunger lacking in a lot of our players. Begovic is good and a higher profile keeper would not be happy to warm the bench.

And while we're at it lets get O'Hara back! Could do with another left footer in the squad, especially with GDS out on loan.

I've got it figured. I managed to get a quick peek into Harry's satchell. Took me ages though rummaging through all the spread sheets. The one I picked out were marked for Mr Levys attention Pompey owe Spurs 462 thousand Pounds,
Nine shillings and fourpence halpenny. dates back to 1911. As you can tell not all players invovedare are as swift as they used to be.
On the other side Spurs owe Pompey 462 thousand 8 shillings and tuppence. So the thinking has t be the 1 shilling and tuppence halfpenny owed will ne offset by Spurs getting Kaboul and the Goalie whos name I can't spell/
All makes perfect sense to me. At least more than whats being touted

Ossie, I've been saying for the past two years that we should be looking at adam johnson, even when he was downing's understudy it was clear to many that he would be better one day, as he plays with both feet and is more robust defensively as well!

Guess he'll be going to Man City then?

Man city it is ...

Jan 29, 2010 at 12:43 PM | Unregistered Commenterbelgian spur

Johnson's contract expires at the end of the season so he definately will not be at Boro next year. The kid has alot of class and is a much better than Downing already. He would solve the left Winger problem we have had for years and give us the option to really get behind the lesser teams that park the bus at the Lane

Dan Brown's next book is a follow up entitled 'Spurs transfer dealings, the tangled web'
Subtltled 'Now you seem em; now you don't; oh look there they are again; nope you missed em'
Introduction by Pascal Chimbonda who still doesn't know who he plays for.

I'm not certain whether we have improved the team but we have made ourselves look ridiculous.
Harry has turned from 'wheeler dealer' to ' grave robber'
Burke and Hare would be turning in their graves if they were still in them. 'Harry woz ere'

Jan 29, 2010 at 2:32 PM | Unregistered Commentertony

It's a strategy , seeing as we are suffering against the smaller teams we have now chosen to sell them under par and overpayed players, once the clubs go bankrupt we then buy back those players only to give em to the next victim of our cunning skeem.

Bentley to West Ham will be the next episode of that plan.

Jan 29, 2010 at 2:42 PM | Unregistered Commenterbelgian spur

if you want some real gossip then.

John terry has just had an injunction protecting him from a damaging story OVERTURNED by the high court after a challenge from the Sun.

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/2831082/Legal-gag-on-John-Terry-affair-lifted.html

Basically Terry shagged Wayne Bridge's wife whilst they wre both at Chelsea, got her pregnant and she had to have an abortion. Wayne Bridge promptly left Chelsea and has refused to play for England ever again. I reckon about 50% of this will come out in the press but you've got the real story here first. This is 100% true boys.

Laughit up!

Jan 29, 2010 at 3:45 PM | Unregistered CommenterFox Mulder

he may be better than downing...but its silly to say how good a player is based on championship performances...yeah hes looked very slick but...its the championship. and with our wage structure we arent gonna be able to offer him 40/50k a week...and neither should we. There are plenty more fish in the sea, and for every james milner there is a dozen andy reids. Johnson might turn out to be a brilliant PL winger, but he probably wont. And as for our left wing problem, dunno if youve been watching recently but Bale has done a pretty good job. if we ever had the need to play an out and out winger on the left, we already have one. And you dont really play 2 out and out wingers anyway. you play one winger, and one wide midfielder who cuts in ie giggs and beckham, parlour and overmars, modric and lennon. ya get me?

Having said that i do agree he does look like a player with a lot of talent.

Begovic would be a great signing (if he can play for us this season). Alnwick looked shit scared and about 15 in midweek. Begovic would be ideal as a back up as he is youngish but actually has PL experience. for 2-3 mil its a superb bit of business. As for kaboul, the more you think about it, the more its a total no brainer. We're gettin him for next to nothing, if he's a success then great, if not flog him for profit in the summer to some clart like steve bruce. I like the idea he could play at CB or DM too.

As for the whose better, bassong or kaboul...is there any doubt? what exactly has bassong done wrong apart from being the mainstay of a very successful defence all season?? The guy has EVERYTHING and hes only been in the PL for 18 motnhs...and hes 23!! FFS ppl give credit where it is due. Nothing against dawson, but I think its a piss take of harry to basically drop him after him and king were our 2 CBs at the start of the season. Yeah ok so he forgot his shorts fuckin hell harry get over yrself we all know footballers are thick. You're not gonna alienate another talented player just cos hes 'mugged you off like a caaant in front of kevin bond'?!?! Anyway, i digress....but i really hope harry aint pursuing some dick-headed vendetta against bassong over jockstrap-gate, cos that would make me as mad as a fuckin lorry.

And harry, heres another idea - bell steve bruce, and offer him keane, JJ and and any other blowjargon you fancy for a 'knockdown' 20 mil. You know he'll lap it up

Jan 29, 2010 at 8:14 PM | Unregistered Commenterchrisman

as for the john terry revelations, nothing at all surprises me about these fuckwitted PL footballers. And Wayne Bridge has been shit for about 5 years, his only good game in that time was against wycombe wanderers. And he looks as though he might actually be thicker than john terry, which is saying something.

Also, my sister worked at alton towers and met john terry and his family there last summer when they were queueing for some shit ride. She says he was nice and posed for photos with her. draw your own conclusions

From the beeb:

"There's a deal there for Kaboul," said Redknapp. "I've been speaking to Portsmouth manager Avram Grant.

"Avram said, 'we need to sell them Harry because ... otherwise we're in trouble'," - a reference to Portsmouth's perilous financial position.

Storrie is full of shit.

Yes, I don't think that you can see past Liverpool now to be honest. No one on this board can be surprised that we gave away an injury time leveller.

Classic Spurs indeed.....................

Jan 30, 2010 at 5:18 PM | Unregistered CommenterStrathaven Spur

Crouch should never be allowed back to defend if you ask me.
Nice assist (lucky as fuck) but he looked exceptionally lazy today.

Jan 30, 2010 at 5:57 PM | Unregistered Commenternycyid

Hudd was great for us today, so I hope nobody here thinks that this draw is down to some stupid jinx. We misplayed our hand. Jenas was absolute shit. Keane too. Neither of them did half as much running as they should have. When you play 20 minutes or less, it better be the most energetic 20 minutes of your life. Jenas was prancing around like some kind of fairy.

I'd like to commend Bale for some excellent defensive work as well as good forward runs. Bentley looked good as well.

Personally, I thought the refereeing for this game was awful. I can't understand how Birmingham City didn't pick up straight reds on a few of their challenges. The Palacios yellow leading to a free kick in front of our box was a scam; the FA will review and conclude rightly that Bowyer dived. Look for it in the coming week.

Oh yea, and the Pompey mystery man is none other than Harry Redknapp himself. That's why we are the only one buying their players and they getting ours on loan.
