Spurs transfer news 'updates'

So basically Leeds United have accepted a bid from Aston Villa for the highly-rated Fabian Delph and have placed on record (via their website) their appreciation for the honourable manner in which the Midlands club have conducted themselves in courting both club and player. Pesky Leeds have resisted approaches from 'other' clubs (the other being us and City no doubt). Would love to know what Ken Bates quantifies as 'honourable' so next time we go in for a Leeds youngster we don't get rejected. We've put quite a bit of wedge their way in recent years. Maybe we've taken things for granted this time and go burnt for it. Probably offered them a cheeky fish tank for the player. But don't fret lads. Bostock is better than Delph.

-

Patrick Vieira has been dropped from France squad. The message from coach Raymond Domenech is simply: Sort out your future. Please do Patrick and head straight for the swamp. Still praying he signs for them lot so I can laugh my arse off. Bad news is that Moussa Sissoko has been drafted in as his replacement. No doubt his value will have risen off the back of this and possibly altered one or two other clubs to take a look at the talented youngster. Can we outsource the negotiations and get Comolli on the case? I still reckon Harry and Wenger are playing mind-games (or maybe one of them is) and are trying to out-fox each other into forcing the other one to sign Old Man Pat. Harry forcing Wenger to protect Vieira's scum legacy, Wenger trying to increase the players profile by suggesting he can still do a job in the Prem and make us believe he's worthy of a punt. It's the most stupid transfer 'saga' of the summer.

-

Chelsea have come out and publicly stated they are not selling Joe Cole to anyone. More or less confirms genuine interest from us if they're rejecting any potential advancements on the player by stating on their website it's a no-go. Can put this one to bed I reckon. Doubt they would undermine Ancelotti if he's saying the player is staying (which I think he's said in interviews). So for now, Modric remains on the left. Gio by the way (who some of you would like to see given another chance) probably won't get one because (allegedly) the lad has a time-keeping issue and hardly ever turns up for training when he's meant to. ITK that.

-

The Darren Bent to Sunderland transfer is now close to completion. It's been close for the past 15 hours or so. Thought I'd let you know because there's not a lot of coverage at the moment on this story about just how close he is to signing. Longest medical ever. It's being prolonged longer than a tantric night in with Sting.

-

Klaas Jan-Huntelaar is apparently available on the cheap. £11M-£12M the price being touted. Bad news is AC Milan are apparently back in for him. It was a while back that Levy was apparently talking to Madrid and it seems like a lifetime ago when we were linked to RVN and others, but in that time you'd think there was some form of communication relating to the proflic Dutch star. We must have been interested in one of their players at the very least (I don't quite buy Harry's persistent 'if he's available we're interested comments' relating to Klaas as it's quite obvious the kid is available and has been all summer long). So you'd think we've inquired about the player or possibly even spoken to his representatives, and maybe failed to agree a monthly wage. Unless this is another epically long negotiation where Levy is biding his time. Let's hope there's a moneyshot at the end of it rather than limp embarrassment.

Happy we don't sign Delph we have enough youngster to bring in the first team! Pat is too old, i would be happy if he sign back to arsenal ... Sissoko another one for the future, that's not the priority! It's a shame we can't get joe cole but it would force HR to try dos santos and that's not bad ... if we can sell keane or move him in the midfield then get the hunter. Pav deserve a start with a full pre.season !!!

I'm fed up with the Klaas stories now. Either we want him or we don't. If we do, just make a bloody bid for him. If we have and we still can't sort out wages then end it. Tiresome stuff this. Hard to tell if we are dithering of if the player is.

re: Leeds United
"We've put quite a bit of wedge their way in recent years"

I would hardly call it "a bit of wedge". We hardly paid Leeds premium prices for any of their players and Leeds were still paying large percentages of some of their wages well into their contracts with us.
In fact, I'd go as far to say that we practically raped them lol

When Bent has gone we'll bid for KJH. Reckon either Pav or Keane will be sold on.

Kai2414, knowing Spooky and his sarcasm I think that's exactly what he meant ;)

Sissoko recommended by Comolli? Must be good. Can we do a swap deal involving Kev Boateng?

Aug 4, 2009 at 9:32 AM | Unregistered CommenterNext Season

So Comolli has had an influence in Sissoko? Nice touch.

Hello lads. Nice to see that nothing much changes (been on me hols).

So, we signing Rivaldo or what?

Aug 4, 2009 at 9:34 AM | Unregistered CommenterThe Machine

Sissoko is the new Zokora.

Not terrifically upset about missing out on Delph either - as Ramses noted above there's a whole gaggle of kids we need to blood at the moment.

Still hopeful on Joe Cole though...

Cheers Alex. Schoolboy error.

Joe Cole
KJH
Bassong
Sissoko

I'd love them all at the Lane but I can't see us signing all of them. Just don't see us fitting them all in during this window.

Reckon Sissoko and Bassong are dead certs. Cole might happen in Jan if he isn't part of Chelseas first team.

Aug 4, 2009 at 9:54 AM | Unregistered Commenterfanz

meh....... it's like wading through treacle this transfer window. the 'sure bets' seem to take an age' whilst Harry version of 'mind games' is basically to say in an interview 'I like the lad, he's triffic'.

This was codeword from his pompey days and was tantamount to saying 'I want to buy him, but need to justify it to the chairman and to prepare the fans, and see what mood his arrival will bring'.

Bent deal? Bored of that one now, move on.

Delph? well with us pulling out of reserve league I think we have enough 'one for the future' type players currently.

Joe Cole, of course we would have all loved to have seen him at the lane, which also means that it was never really going to happen. Mind you if he doesn't sign a contract extension, wonder what wil happen in Jan when he has six months left on his current deal?

You'd have thought a centre back might be a good idea to get sorted some time soon though. Unless 'Arry knows something about 'the king' and Daws that he's not telling us until the starting day of the campaign. In a 'shock revelation' that he was only joking about Ledders and Mikey not being able to play. Only for them to turn in a match winning performance aginst the scallies, winning the game 4-0.

Well, I can dream can't I.

a word for Daniel Levy...........he has got excellent deals,....9mill for crouch!,8.5 for zokora! and 14-15 for bent.....

so regardless of media blah blah regarding bent.etc........ boslter up the obvious in defence and huntelaar must be a definate consideration .although keane..again showed his class goal in asia final... pav looks determined...though.........de santos must figure on left?.......

KJH looks unlikely unfortunately

http://fourfourtwo.com/news/italy/34497/default.aspx

Although this isn't quoted anywhere else so may just be internet gumpf! Who would other people like to see if we didn't get KJH, do we need another stirker or can we not give someone like Obika a stretch supporting Pav, Defoe and the human stick insect?

Aug 4, 2009 at 10:13 AM | Unregistered CommenterGoude

The way things are going, it looks like we are the scouting club for the vilians and citeh. We look at a possibility and before you know it MON or Hughes want a piece of the action.

Aug 4, 2009 at 10:23 AM | Unregistered CommenterNorman

Imagine this if you will...

I truly think that Levy may have played a blinder.

I think buy the time the window closes we could in theory have effectively swapped :

Zakora (8m)
Bent (12-14m)
Keane(12-14m)

For

KJH(12m)
Crouchy(9m)
Bassong (3-4m)
Sissoko (10-12m)

I have been as big a sceptic as anyone this Window, and I have found it painful at times.

But, whether I'm delusional with Window fever or just dreaming about no more PSB. I can honestly see this happening and to me it would seem to be a genius masterstroke.

Really can't see KJH opting for 50% tax and no European football in a world cup season. Defoe, Crouch, Keane and Pav is a decent enough strike force to start the season and streets ahead of what we had after deadline day last time round. 'Arry needs to focus on other areas of the team, especially centre midfield and centre back. But please, no more promising kids.

Aug 4, 2009 at 10:33 AM | Unregistered CommenterNext Season

Agree that KJH will not come to England. No chance. Can earn bucket loads in Italy or at another Spanish or German club. Reckon that's out lot for the attack. Should be more patient with Keane and not keep writing the man off.

Aug 4, 2009 at 10:39 AM | Unregistered CommenterGeneral Brickhouse

Just a thought that ambled across my mind.

If KJH was that good, would united not have asked for him as part of the Ronaldo deal, knowing that they were about to release Tevez as well?

Not that I like fergie, but he gets it anoyingly right, more often than not, when it comes to player transfers.

And why did Hughes at City buy 'canthitabarndoor' from the goons rather than KJH, for probably a similar price and wage?

Don't get me wrong, I would happy for him to come to WHL and actually be 'the player we all wan't him to be', but until we see the guy hit a ball in anger, his value is based upon 'potential' in the EPL (which is known to be possibley the toughest and most physically demanding league in europe).

Aug 4, 2009 at 10:41 AM | Unregistered CommenterTricky

Bassong and Sissoko will be our only two remaining signings and I reckon that will have us set.

Aug 4, 2009 at 10:49 AM | Unregistered Commentermyhstg

I'd take Bassong but for half the price. Shame City will probably bid 15M for him. Turner from Hull should be our backup target.

Aug 4, 2009 at 11:04 AM | Unregistered Commenterharryredknappsbarmyarmy

REALITY CHECK why would player like huntelaar will sign for us and also with wage-drop.and who among us can say that we would break in top 4 this season with our recent standings and city ,villa and everton coming into picture.i am not aiming too high this season so that we r not crushed like last season but hope we concerntrate on top 6 for which we have a real chance ,and i also think top 4 will remain unchanged as city r still rubbish and we still need work to b done and with all hatred aside i think le arse have found a real gem in wilshere and hope he becomes messi of england and become better afterall he is english and that should b a good reason to support him as a individual player.

Ibrahim Afellay-watch it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KlapIkoBCr8&feature=fvsr fantastic cover for CM and AML
Sissoko who is been called in France instade of Vieira-The 33-year-old Inter Milan midfielder was a notable omission from his squad for their forthcoming World Cup qualifier against the Faroe Islands.
Domenech opted to hand a first call-up to Toulouse midfielder Moussa Sissoko, leaving 107-cap Vieira out in the cold..
Job done.If Peter was not sign Klaas was top 3.
Defenders-Bassong is not better then Huddelston, waste of money on a very wrong direction to me.

announcement from portsmoth, they have to sell more to stay affloat if the takeover doesn't happen soon.

Would like to see Bassong or Turner at the lane and Joe Cole, but perhaps now is the time to move for Krankjar and Distin. SO Modric can move to the middle and play with his international teammate down the left. Interchanging and causing many proplems.

Would harry have the bottle to possibly ruin portsmouth though by taking there last few good players

Aug 4, 2009 at 12:21 PM | Unregistered Commenterullspur

I believe KJH is very similiar to Defoe in style of play, you would get extra height, but lack of P.L. experience. I still have a soft spot for Negredo, who on video evidence can put himself about aka Bobby Smith. Sissoka seems a risky bet> one or two spurs youngsters seem to be burning the candle at both ends. Hope De Santos's dad returns with him from the Americas to keep a firm hand.

Aug 4, 2009 at 12:51 PM | Unregistered CommenterWelbourne Road

Question: Bassong is suspended for the first two games of the Championship season with Newcastle. Does that mean if he signed for us he would be suspended for the first two games of the Prem season too? If so, given our current early season predicament, is he the answer to our centre half conundrum?

Aug 4, 2009 at 11:49 PM | Unregistered Commenter2P8G

Bassong has just had his medical aparently. I think he would be a good edition to the squad. Good work Harry!
