Spurs questions that need to be answered

The Countdown to the 2009/2010 Season

Some questions on my mind at the minute...

Does David Bentley have a future at Spurs?

-

Just how long does Ledley King have left?

-

Has Adel Taarabt found his level in the Championship?

-

Does no Comolli mean no continental scouting for options other than old has-beens and unobtainable targets?

-

What does Jermaine Jenas do exactly?

-

Does the club plan to spend the half-time intervals at the Lane giving away more copies of The Opus? Bring back the Thomson one-on-one shoot-outs.

-

Why did we not pay Zenit the £22M for Arshavin?

-

Was Pav’s form last season down to not ever being 100% fit or is he simply another overly expensive average player that we defaulted to because our first option never materialised and giving him the benefit of the doubt because he sort of looks like Teddy Sheringham?

-

Why did Chirpy get plastic surgery? I know it’s been a few seasons since the change over, but he still riles me. I don’t like the blokes attitude walking from stand to stand like some meaningless clubber on ecstasy, hugging people. The insufferable show-off.

-

Is Modric set to remain out on the left, drifting in and causing havoc for opposing teams? Of course he bloody will.

-

Will the Tottenham faithful begin to show patience and support for Robbie Keane as he continues his rehabilitation after his Anfield nightmare?

-

Is Luka Modric going to destroy the Premier League this up and coming season? Of course he bloody will.

-

If Levy stands his ground and Sunderland do the same, then logically you’d expect Bent to remain at Spurs because Bruce will not have matched our transfer estimation of the player. If that’s the case, we are stuck with him. But we know that’s not going to happen. Which means in all likelyhood, we will drop his value a little bit and Sunderland will meet us half-way. So rather than drag this out up until the final day of the window, how about putting everyone out of their misery and just accept we won’t be getting £16M or whatever for him. Is there a question in there? No? To sum it up...why do we do this Custer’s Last Stand dance every time when the end result is the other club always get their man?

-

If Gio can do it for Mexico why is he not good enough for a first team place at the Lane?

-

Will young Defoe ever learn how to beat the offside trap?

-

Will Lennon push on and build on the progress made last season?

-

How many DVD’s will the club release this season, covering score-draws?

-

Seriously. Chirpy, London Bridge, Sunday at 1pm? I will end you.

-

Why exactly did we re-sign Pascal Chimbonda and does Harry intend to use him in any shape or form this season?

-

Seriously, Patrick Vieira? Let him go back to the swamp so their fans can back-track over their laughter that he was going to sign for us because last week he was a crock and has-been but since Wenger spoke he's suddenly their answer. Do one you miserable hypocrites.

-

Who will be our breakthrough player of the season?

-

How long will it take Harry Redknapp to coin a new catchphrase after the season starts? I reckon nine games.

"Nine games, twenty points"

More questions next week. I'm off down to the local with Mrs Spooky to get smashed on rum and then probably fit in a cheeky curry. Have a stonking Saturday night people.

Hahaha, there's always one Spurs fan with a stick up his arse who has to be a dick about it. Keep up the good work Spooky, I love you man.

If Gio can do it for Mexico why is he not good enough for a first team place at the Lane?

------

Because for Mexico he is always playing against 'championship' quality opposition that makes him look better than he actual is.

I to would lke to know the answer to these questions!!

Nice article mate

Signing AA is going to prove to me a huge mistake. But then again we do have Luka. He's younger and he's going to get better.

Aug 1, 2009 at 7:34 PM | Unregistered CommenterPush and Run

Luka will be playing for Utd this time next year.

Aug 1, 2009 at 7:35 PM | Unregistered CommenterNorthLondonYid

Is Bentley still injured then? Hasn't featured yet has he in preseason.

spurssam, why even bother? Idiot.

Aug 1, 2009 at 7:41 PM | Unregistered Commenterlucky luka

Yes, run along back to Harry Hotspurs blog where nobody ever posts to criticise his articles even when they are completely random excuses to plug books and the like. Not that I don't like his blog, I do. Just seems people don't ever post there to call him an idiot.

You need to get on your knees more often Spooky.

Aug 1, 2009 at 7:44 PM | Unregistered Commenterfilthy

Loving the blog. I doubt Spooky gives a shit about the criticism.

JJ does nothing much by the way.

Aug 1, 2009 at 7:45 PM | Unregistered CommenteriYid

Bentley played against Exeter and as with pav didnt look good enough to get in there team, he then picked up an injury in one of the following games. As for the first post....Who the bigger idiot, the guy who wrote it or the guy who then wasted more of his life by moaning and writing about the time he had wasted!

Now, Lady spur, theres no need to put yourself down like that. ;)

Aug 1, 2009 at 8:03 PM | Unregistered CommenterMorgan.

What does Jenas do? Pass backwards, pass sideways and pass backwards again. Give away silly free kicks near our penalty area. Save us from having only 10 men on the pitch.

Seriously, I've been watching Spours since 1967 and he is the poorest midfield player we have ever fielded more than once. I feel certain that O'Hara, Livermore, Bostock etc etc would contribute FAR more.

Aug 1, 2009 at 8:25 PM | Unregistered CommenterLawrie

But just had to say i read your blogs (think that's what they're called) each and every one, and i love them! the way certain yids always answer, really makes me feel part of something special. Even if i never have an input. Keep it up, all of you!

I think Harry Rednap is the spit of Del Boy

Good questions, but I can't answer any of them as it's late and I have a poopy brewing that I need to deposit into my potty.

Aug 2, 2009 at 12:38 AM | Unregistered CommenterFrazzle

For the breakthrough player I hope that the boy Naughton gets a decent run out next season. His cross for Lennon's goal against Hull was well lush. I hope young Aaron was taking notes.

Jenas is a human tumbleweed. May as well have a training cone partnering Wilson in midfield.

Aug 2, 2009 at 1:42 AM | Unregistered CommenterNext Season

Nice blog, Spooky. This pre-season I've really started to understand that 'it's a kind of purgatory' headline; the same old transfer BS, with Levy trying to prove how fekking hard he is, and dragging us all through the shite along the way. The saddest part is that he's trying his best, but he's just not canny enough. Look at the shitstorm he created by tapping up Ramos, then not backing him in the transfer market because Comolli didn't fancy his choices, then dumping him eight games in and bringing in Redknob. What a fekking life being a Spurs supporter.
Funny thing is, I think we'll have a halfway decent season this year. Not great, but better than it looks right now.

Aug 2, 2009 at 3:30 AM | Unregistered CommenterNinjaYid

Questions we've all thought of or think at some point I'm sure..

Yes why couldn't we buy Arshavin - I suppose spilling all that money on the likes of Bent, Bentley etc left a sour taste in the mouth. We were in there when The Scum still had there fingers up their arse and now he's a shitpiecegooner...

Simple business on the Bent front though. You want to recoup as much of the money you can for him. Might as well hang on till Sunderland find more spondoolics.

Jenas is a fart in a spacesuit.

I'm praying with you!

Aug 2, 2009 at 8:55 AM | Unregistered CommenterAnon

Dont know if you all have seen them yet but there a couple of roumours going around this morning that we are in for Van Bommel again...can you even begin to imagine this! I would be like having a Dutch Vinny Jones next to Palacios. There goes the fair play award this season...meh not that I care.

Aug 2, 2009 at 9:01 AM | Unregistered CommenterMattyboy

Saw the Van Bommel link. I can answer some of the above:

JJ fixes Tele's (we know this from Beligian Spur) he is also the model for the new special edition subuteo set (where the players more more quickly over the surface, but never actually get involved in the game - that way it doesn't matter if you lose the ball).

Bentley does have a future, he's apparently being taken on as a labourer for the redevlopment ofthe new stadium, when demoloishing the old stadium he'll simple be stood on top of the old roof kicking bricks into a skip for £5 a week.

And breakthroguh player this season it will be a toss up between Bostock, Livermore and Rose (Livermore is the current favourite)

The Gio one is interesting, and I think I can show my view by making a comparative; I look like a decent player against a team of one legged mongol mutes, however despite my cultured left foot (which sits alongside a more agricultural right foot) I don't 'deserve a run out' ahead of Modric on the left, or as a second striker ahead of Defoe or Pav. I just wouldn't be as good.

As for the others, you've either answered them or, as a man once said, 'you're on your own, son'.

Spurssam/Davespur - Please list the blogs and message boards you frequent so we can get an insight into what passes as acceptable Spurs commentary. Thanks.

viera helped by Redknapp and Spurs interest......arsenal behaving pathetic

gio try on left....why not?

modric key man in play

jury is out on a few players....

jenas frustrates as he has the talent like bentley...........

bond sort the inconsistency in some of the players minds please its annoying .........

one question.......why did we include away colurs on the home shirt this year..........

marketing ignores reality?

bent saga is probably clubs all thinking they can take levy for a mug money wise.only to find out otherwise
fair deal is all required for all concerned

Aug 2, 2009 at 11:56 AM | Unregistered CommenterBilliospur

newcastle turns down 10 mill spurs offer for bassong??

money madness made worse by Man C.......purchases....

so our squad must have gone seriously up in value

Aug 2, 2009 at 12:11 PM | Unregistered CommenterBilliospur

Spurs excuse for the yellow is apparently because yellow was part of the original badge. Red is also part of that badge, so expect us to introduce red next season.

Tricky , you are a prick , but a very funny one :-)

Aug 3, 2009 at 9:46 AM | Unregistered Commenterbelgian spur

Coming from a belgian I'll consider the literal translation to mean 'needle sharp', so thak you kind sir.

As for the Bassong rumour. I'd rather go for upson for 10 mil frankly, buying a defender from newcastle? It just seems wrong, no matter how good he looked compared to the rest of the barcodes back line, it becomes the 'relative to who?' arguement all over again. Collins and upson for the spammers were probably their stand out player in asia.

All this means is we'll probably end up with Dunne, not bad, but not great, bit like crounchie really!

Get a life you prick, as if upson's gonna move to shit whole lane! remember he's said IF hes gonna move hes gonna go and play for a team that plays champions league football,so i think that deffo puts you mugs out of the running.

Aug 3, 2009 at 5:16 PM | Unregistered CommenterHarrysAhammer

Oh and just to add,has the graveyard of young talent resurfaced at your dump again? looks like gio has realised what shit coaches you have and wants out! who could blame him, nobody would want to wear a shirt with a cock on there badge and piss streaks down the sides.

Aug 3, 2009 at 5:21 PM | Unregistered CommenterHarrysAhammer

Hmmm, a bitter hammer, who would have thought it!

I don't get the hatred in the current climate, I quite like Zola (both as a player in the past and a manager today) and the club has had it's ups and downs. But let's face fact West Ham - well supported club (I'm talking quantity here, not quality), with an unfortunate track record of ownership that has left it a little more jaded than maybe it could have been. WHy not just accept that inevitable truth, and then there is more to look forward to.

OK, so we bought one or two players form you in the past, but is it because we didn't buy anton ferdinand when you really needed the cash? It's not us that have screwed you over its your board of directors by allowing the sale. Are you this bitter about chelsea? Do you not realise that players move on sometimes?

At least us spurs can tell when we're being shafted by 'the board of directors' with their rhetoric (that means they say things that you can't really respond to, as they are trying to pursuede us that there way is the right way and they don't give a stuff about our views) so when the club sold berbatov, we knew we were being shafted.

And as for the new top, I don't actaully like it myself, so go ahead see how upset I am at that slur (by which I mean a derogatory remark, not that the word was somehow incoherent - by derogatory I mean disparraging or to put it another way 'it makes somefink sound worser than it iz', and by incoherrent, I mean 'i dont understand as it sounds like you is not talking proper').

Bloody hell I hadn't realised how much hard work it was trying to talk to a spammer. Must remember to avoid conversing in the future.
