Robbie Keane off on 'loan' again?

Morning. If you frequent the Tottenham message boards and various other blogs, including this one, you'll know that there's been this pesky little rumour about Robbie Keane being unhappy. It changes from one day to the next. Apparently he wants out, then he doesn't (its exaggerated) then he does again. Others disapprove citing the fact that he has recently become a father again and that moving all the way up to Sunderland is simply out of the question. I'm more curious as to the reason (behind the sad face). Does he feel that having returned from the his shattered Anfield dream that he is somehow tainted back at Spurs? It doesn't quite feel the same as it did before? If you believe he is off, you might also believe he has a clause in his contract that states he has to play every game (and not get subbed).

I don't know. Personally don't want to believe this is true. I like him and regardless of the fact that he did not shine as bright as he did for us before he moved to Liverpool, he was still instrumental in that initial upsurge of determination that got us out of trouble.

If he is genuinely unhappy and he only ever returned to us because we offered him the only viable escape route at the time, then it's all a bit of a mess and the depression might be partly down to him knowing deep down he should never have left int he first place.

From pure football logistics, the reason why we might consider selling him is that Keane returning to Spurs was a little on the panic side of things. Redknapp prefers Defoe, or at least a player of his ilk, partnered up with a big tall striker. So Harry might simply decide that there is no room for the both of them. Something Spurs fans have always argued (the two little men can't play together).

I guess we sit back and wait for the 'Crouch to Spurs' rumours to hit the message boards.

Robbie Keane could always return to his spiritual home at Molineux where he would be most welcome!
Wolves would take him like a shot - at the right price of course and I'm sure Robbie would be more than happy to come back to Wolverhampton too!

What worries me is our ability to lure somebody as good or better to replace him.

That will be tough and could end in disaster.

Keano has been our best player over the last 5 years. He has had a dip in form due to failing at Anfield and losing his confidence. All he needs is a good holiday , a few pints of Guiness and a fresh start next season.
By all means get Crouch but hang onto Keane at all costs.

I don't believe it myself. Other than whispers and rumours there is no reason why he'd want to move up North again having just got back. I understand why he might have been a panic buy, we needed a player only because Defoe got himself injured and Keane wanted/was pushed out of Liverpool. But would the club really look to bring someone back and then off load them again in this manner? If so, its all a bit of a joke.

Hey 'John Barnes'. You said yesterday I reminded you of Stan.

Stay tuned dude.

Robbie will not be leaving.

Enough of this.

I'm beginning to think that maybe he was only ever coming back for six months to help us beat the drop, after Defoe got injured. And he agreed with 'Arry that he'd move on after that.

Irish connection up there with Quinn. Could have legs this one. He hasn't looked his old self since he returned with tail between legs.

Iain, I thought that too. Would make sense. Still have to say he has messed up his career. He has fragmented his form imo and he might struggle to reclaim it wherever he ends up.

stop this nonsense. keane isnt going anywhere and to the vocal minority who want him to go, you are pathetic.

Its BS. Has to be. Not sure who Harry Hotspur is getting his info from, but this rumour has done the rounds across GG, FTL and COYS by a variety of people who claim to know whats going on, some of them even contradicting each other. Can't help but feel its all guesswork and pissing in the wind.

Why is it nonsense? Or BS? It might be but has anyone who is so certain spoken to anyone close to the club or player?

If keane was only ever stopping for half a season, it would explain a lot, like why Defoe didn't blow a gasket when Keane came back to keep him on the bench again.

Does explain one thing:

Why he was undroppable (in the shop window to make amends for his Liverpool hiccup)

Keane's best two seasons for us was playing along side Berbatov, he has never played as well with Defoe, Bent, Pav or any other strikers that we have had during his spell with the club. His move to Liverpool was based upon his form playing with Berba, form which he was never able to reproduce playing with Torres or since returning to spurs.

He is always going to score us goals but with Modric playing an advanced roll do we have space for Keane in the side or do we have the strikers for him to play alongside?

Unless Berbatov had a bomerang ticket like so many that were sold under Ramos then aren't we better off keeping Defoe happy whom given a chance has always done pretty well regardless of whom he has been paired with.

I am sure some statto out there will prove me wrong in terms of minutes on pitch and goals with various different strike partners but in my opinion Defoe is the better of the two and given some time to form a partnership with Pav I think they are our best two current options. Unless of course Harry has something up his sleeve.

right i never usually comment on these sort of things, because normally they are full of people who dont know what they are talking about and simply jump on the bandwaggon, but with this story i want to put the record straight. you always hear people saying they are 'in the know' cos there gardener once bumped into someones cousin in tesco's but i really am in the know and there is absolutly no chance of robbie keane leaving this summer

Jun 24, 2009 at 3:21 PM | Unregistered Commenterjm

I thought that the ruling was you are not allowed to play for more than 2 teams in year?

Jun 24, 2009 at 4:42 PM | Unregistered CommenterConfused

You lot have fucking short memories. The boy was the only bright spot in a load of shit for about 3 years. He played alongside a load of shite for a lot of that too. Give him a chance or fuck off and support the disloyal scum down the road.

Jun 24, 2009 at 9:24 PM | Unregistered CommenterRoy

No wonder Keane is pissed off. I would be if I had to wear that new shirt.

Вот это действительно плохо рубашка

Robbie was an icon of sorts at Spurs before the move. He has been 'tainted' & is like returned goods, only it is because the buyer changed his mind, not because the goods is tainted. Blame the guy in charge (buying, selling, transfer, etc) at THAT club. If L'pool fans thinks I'm using this as an attack against Benitez, they're right!
