Carlito's Way is this way and that way

Here's one for you.

Back page, Spurs 'gutted' that their £18M move for Tevez (one that Carlos is liking) might well be dashed by Liverpool who are prepared to splash out £50M on the Argentine. Then a few pages into the Sports section, we are told that Rafa has a £30M war-chest for new players but has to sell in order to generate more funds.

Wonderful creativity from Kia Joorabchian.

Can someone please think of the children?

I don't know what to believe anymore lol

I would like Tevez to join Spurs though. We need more "workhorses" like Palacios... Tevez may not be the most loyal footballer; however, he does give it his all!

SPURS!!!!

Fifty million? Fifty smillion!
Tevez's "owners" are taking the modern day slave trade to the limit as they seek to cash in big time on their investment.
The deal with ManU thus far is that they have to pay the £24m agreed to complete the transfer on top of the £9m they have paid for a two year loan. The ball is in ManU's corner.
ManU are trying to get that figure reduced, therefore the stalling on a new contract. The slavers are talking up the figure by suggesting ManU's bitterest rivals are prepared to splash the cash and thereby forcing ManU's hand into completing the agreed deal.

I suspect they may but if it goes to the open market you can forget any preferences Tevez has, This Brown Sugar will be sold in a market down in ... prob City for ... under £30m

Let someone else spend over the odds for him, we dont need him, we do however need a left winger, so lets Get Babel or Young when Liverpool or Villa try to raise funds for the Tev.

babel? are you mental?

May 20, 2009 at 2:13 PM | Unregistered Commenterjdjd

Don't think Babel is a bad shout really. Benitez clearly has his favourites and Babel isn't one of them. We've all seen the total miracle Harry has performed in turning Assou-Ekotto into a footballer and with Babel he'd have more to work with from the off. If we could get him for £7m/£8m he'd definitelty be worth a punt.

What's everyone think of the Barry to Spurs rumours? He is a yid after all.....

Tevez would go straight into any XI in the prem. As for ours! A class player. chip out Bent and bring in Tevez if that was the case.

As for Babel, why would we even think of it? Modirc is fully capable to cover that side, and we also have exceptional talented players in Gio and Taraabt (my favorite, reminds me of C.Ronaldo at his early stages) ready to go!

If we should buy a new midfielder I think Barry would be great, as he can swich with modric during games and change things up a bit!

I dont see Keane as a first team player, Modric in behind Defoe and Pav, with A new Left Winger, Babel I reckon could be a decent player with a run in the side, and Young would get in any team.

PLN, I agree with all of that apart from the Babel bit. Whenever I've seen him he's done fuck all.

Never going to happen this. Blatant agent bullshit to drive Tevez value.

And so it begins. The transfer window isn't even ajar, but like Christmas decorations in the shops in October the preamble gets earlier and earlier. As in previous years the bullshit level will rise and rise, we'll be linked to everyone and everything that ever saw a football cos it sells advertising or ramps up players value (supposedly). It's all total bollocks, perhaps if we ignored it those perpetuating it would stop. Fat chance.

Babel isn't one of Rafa's favourites quite simply because he isn't very good. Why take the gamble? Let's spend prudently on players of proven quality in positions that need resolving as opposed to the Comolli approach of throwing as much shit as you can afford against the wall and praying that some of it sticks. As a case in point, have we managed to sell Boateng yet?

Barry would be perfect. A leader, experienced, consistent and can play in a variety of positions as well as being a set piece specialist. Also unlikely, especially if we're offering Bentley in exchange. Benayoun, if he decides that being a bit part player for Liverpool isn't enough, would also be a good signing.

Barry would be nice, but would he come? He wants Champions League football... Spurs fan or not I don't think we are an attractive enough proposition for him.
