HAGO. Roll on 2010.

Have a cracking new year people. Don't let the news that lickle Aaron Lennon is 'out' for 14 days concern you too much. We are not a one man team. And it's not like we've got any tricky games in the next couple of weeks.

Zing.

Harry (forced) might well play Luka and Niko in the same starting line-up which is drool-inducing. We'll see. Wouldn't have seen it otherwise.

Best story of recent days is the one covering Roman Pavlyuchenko's latest outburst. What a fruitcake. Doesn't he know Harry has his 'favs' and remains loyal to them? Bentley is still lost out in the wilderness probably sleeping in skips and nobody really knows if Gio is any good and whether we'll ever have this Mexican mystery uncovered. Adel (Zidane II) wants to remain at QPR. That's great Adel, because it's the best place for you. The Championship. Done any step-overs recently?

I guess with all our success and improvements made since the turn-around (2 points 8 games), there was always going to be casualties and disappointments. But the good has been plentyful. It's good to be Lilywhite.

2009 has been some year. We're on the up. Here's to 2010, a bit more house-keeping and the odd sweep under the carpet. And possibly a new arrival or two.

Also, thanks for the support. Has been a very good year for me, blogging wise. Talking of which, all you other bloggers out there, continue the good work, cause I need the material and without you I wouldn't be able to write up anything half decent (style-theft, I've got my grip on it).

I'll be back on-line soon. Will look at doing a series of 'that was the year that was' blogs with the odd 'award' style article too.

See you on the other side.

COYS.

Thanks for a great blog, Spooky and Happy New Year to you.

Although we have done very well in the first half of the season I think we will have to get real over thenext few games. Don't agree that the loss of Lennon is a minor inconvenience since when any team stops him playing or getting the ball to play we seem to lack any threat of scoring.

Harry says he is happy with the current squad and will not be buying in January......if this is because Levy won't stump-up any money then fine he has no choice, but if he really believes we are good enough for Top 4 with the current squad then I think he has lost the plot. We desperately need a goal-scoring mid-fielder and another goal-scoring striker to partner DeFoe. I don't think either Crouch or Keane are good enough and even though Hud has shown an inclination to get near the opposition penalty area, he hasn't yet learned to shoot at the goal!

I think that unless we resolve these two issues we will be bale to dominate games without scoring and ultimately lose to the big-boys and draw with teams we should beat, finishing in a much better position than last year but still not good enough for top 4.

The Liverpool game will be an interesting test of the bottle of the players., especially without Lennon.

I hope I'm wrong and Harry produces improved performances from Crouch and others but whatever the future holds at least so far we can hold our heads up.

Thanks for the blogs, really enjoyed them.
Looking forward to seeing more of your all new, unique, "never copied anyone honest guv" works in 2010.
Loss of Lennon is major, because we have no-one else who can do what he does.
Hope it is only 14 days. Remember Modrics 2 months abscence turned into 3.
I'd rather see Dos Santos given a chance than Bentley, but 2 Croatians Wilson and Thudd does not sound too bad in midfield.
I don't buy into the clubs "can't buy unless we sell " mantra. Suspect the moneys available for the right player(s) but advertising the fact only leads to selling clubs getting greedy.
This season is our best chance to make top 4. Be brave on the pitch and in the market. Go for it.
Happy New Year.

It will surely be Kranjcar to replace Lennon - it was hard enough leaving him out to accomodate Modders. What a team. And what a squad we have now.

Bentley can be found sleeping in a skip - yeah next to the football he kicked there from the balcony in that famous vid! Didn't do much for him did it?!

What a nightmare. I feel sorry for him in a way cos he seems to have a sort of schoolboy mentality where it's all about trying to look flash in front of your mates, instead of focusing on playing effective football. What a tragic waste of a great opportunity.

Oh and Pav can piss right off too. Awful, awful mentality. Get rid.

Happy New Year to Spurs fans everywhere!

Lennon is a bigger blow to us than Modric was because of Kranjcar. Niko is a great player but not a like-for-like replacement for Lennon, as he tends to cut inside rather than stick to his flank. Without Lennon we have no pace and width, and have been heavily reliant on him to create chances of late. Probably only Bale (with Bassong or O'hara at LB) or Hutton/Naughton could provide width down the wings; Gio is a striker or part of a 4-3-3 - we could use him but we'd have to change the way the team is set up.

As for Harry playing favorites - if he really did, then he wouldn't have persisted with Bentley when he first arrived despite Bentley's rubbish form, finally dropping him only when he was unbearable and we were looking ten times more dangerous with Lennon. He tried Pav and Defoe together until Defoe got injured (he'd already tried Pav-Bent, and it was the worst combination in the whole league). When we were on a good run with Keane-Bent up top, after Pav did well when he came on against West Ham, Pav then started the next game, where he was rubbish. If Pav really wanted to start more games, he has to work harder and show better attitude. I think a lack of goalscoring could be excused for a while for a newcomer to the league, but you have to at least work your ass off and provide something other than goals, and show some potential (skill, good touches, movement). But Pav looked invisible for the most part in the league, which we can excuse at the beginning but not after half a season; in any case it's embarrassing when even a 30-year-old guy with a major organ operation can come from France's second division and immediately score 5 in 13 appearances (Klasnic at Bolton). So I don't believe Pav is suited for the English game, and I suspect the pace of Serie A would be far better for him.

Out of all the fringe players in the cup games so far I'd say only Bale and sometimes Gio have looked motivated to try to break into the team, so I hope we give them chances and sell the ones who aren't even trying like Pav and Bentley. Bentley was a great player at Blackburn but has become distracted at London, and I don't think he can recover his form at Spurs. Let him go elsewhere (not Villa or Citeh, or Sunderland either) and he will rediscover his form.

cheers for the blogs spooky....great position we are in 4th spot and as a team we havent reached our full potential yet...some people r saying we r playing above ourselves but in my opinion we are not yet playing at our best for a full 90 minutes week in and week out...so 2day im wondering just how much better this 2009/10 spurs team can be? the game against west ham we missed a lot of chances and quite possibly could have won 5-0.....nice to c tom huddlestone making a really significant impact in games..golly has that guy got talent in abundance..credit to sir redknapp for getting the best out of tom..tom just needs a touch of luck to get a couple of goals ..hes the sort of midfielder that is capableof and should be bagging 8/9 goals a season.hes got 18 games to dominate and tear other teams midfields apart..and he hasnt reached his potential...coys.....

Sir Harry is doing very well, is he better then BMJ?? Not sure, but then post match is good! Regarding the reserves, they are good enough for 50% of the premiership, would Pav be better under Arsene or did he buy the right Russian? Keane, was the scouse Spaniard right to get rid? Did Sir Alex really want Bale? Why will Scott Parker pick the villains over us? After 35 years of following us why have we become a club that people don't believe in (apart from us guys)?? We need people to train, sit down on the bench and when they get the chance shine.
