Open bus parade cancelled in East London (2-0 to the Lilywhites)
West Ham still are rivals, right?
No blood and thunder in this derby match. It was akin to a giant swallowing a feather. Slight tickle on the tongue, hardly noticed, and not a chance in hell of choking.
They were never in it. Very comfortable, embarrassingly so. Shame we couldn't carve up a few more slices of goal mouth action and stuff them, but can't complain at all. 2-0, another clean sheet and very little to complain about. No complacency at all, unlike what happened against Stoke and Wolves. West Ham were plucky in parts in the second half, but never threatening. Not helped by injuries, including the one to Scott Parker that appeared to play a part in allowing Luka the freedom of the midfield to race in for his first goal of the season. Welcome back little man.
Modric (starting and finishing the move for that goal) appeared to galvanise one or two players with his mere presence. I guess the lack of Claret and Blue presence also helped, but credit where it's due. Huddlestone was influential, Palacios biting like a mosquito on speed. We'll have to perhaps wait a little longer to see if Modric in the middle and Niko on the left can work, but no doubt, the line-up that started did.
We clicked and dominated possession. Lennon and Corluka enjoying plenty going forward. Defoe always a menace. The only humbug was perhaps the impossibility of a post-match DVD release cometh the final half an hour as we still sat on a 1-0 lead. There was no Wiganesque demolition job here. Not that WH ever really looked like scoring anyway. But sometimes crazy shit happens, and you can suddenly find yourself pegged back. But I guess another positive about this Spurs side is that there was no collapse evident at any stage and in the end, we put it to rest with a great goal made by Defoe, for himself, teasing with speed and urgency outside the box, lashing it in, off Green and back to him for yet another lash - this time finding the net. Everything in between the first and second goal was easy on the eye. Highly enjoyable afternoon, but we need to discover the guile for that ruthlessness that turns this from a Sky+ recording of MOTD2 to club shop merchandise heaven.
And also, special extra mention for JD - yellow-carded for celebrating with fans by allowing an embrace or two to engulf him when he made it 2-0. Much like Cesc Fabregas did at the Emirates yesterday. Score and celebrate with fans. He got yellow carded too. Yep. He suuuuuuuuure did. Hmm.
Anyways.
Do we get to keep the cup?
As for top 4 - we need to consolidate and to do that we need to step up an extra gear. Up to Harry to make sure the players remain focused. The way this season is panning out, anything is possible, so I'm neither jigging nor scratching chin. I'm waiting to see how things pan out, but to be honest, my dancing shoes are on. Fuck it, may as well wear our hearts on sleeves. Its what we do best. And if we get something at Anfield...
Think Liverpool will come back into it at some stage soon, and add City and Villa to the mix - its cat and mouse at the moment. Still no sign of anyone truly grabbing the Prem by the scruff of the neck. I'm enjoying it though. How can any Spurs fan not? Our next 6 games are perhaps season defining (how many times have we heard that?). In fact, screw the rest of them. We need to focus completely on what we do going forward. Let them play catch up rather than sigh when someone above us drops points. We need to have them chasing us. I guess this is where we find out if the players - and Harry - actually believe.
It's been a decent Christmas. 4th going into 2010. Not sure what to make of our gaffers comments about not having anyone in mind, re: transfers. He doesn't think we need to cause ripples with further headache selections, but when he cites '4 forwards' you have to wonder if his tongue is firmly embedded in cheek. Is Pav really still a choice?
Sorry, can't muster too much else at the moment. I'm still sick, bloodshot eyes, head-thumping headaches. It's the end of days over here at the moment. But still smiling. If I'm not back on-line before 2010, enjoy what's left of this year. And cast your minds back to where we sat just before Redknapp took the helm. Facebook Relegation Party, what became of you?
For now...we're forever bursting...

The best team won no doubt. But we were awful, top four....your having a laugh..
Redknapp going down. Crooked cunt deserves it
The author mentions it several times that WH were pretty much non existent. And you're deluding yourselves if you think Spurs are not good enough for Top 4.
And I'm an Arsenal fan.
I felt for West Ham today. Sorry chaps I did. No punch or spark in that side. Zola is trouble.
Hammers in peace - any truth about Mark Hughes to Upton Park? Or is that crazy talk? Not sure who would want to go there if there's no cash to splash.
spammers got well whacked, they are piss poor, just about fit for the championship!!!!
The only people going down are anyone associated with West Ham.
Come may it will be time to take your caravans to Championship grounds! You're shit, broke and heading for relegation. You'll NEVER be our rivals, rivals are supposed to compete, you've not tested us for years!
Now fuck off back to your caravans and worry about those relegation 6 pointers you've got coming up
COYS
Sorry I take it back, beating a very poor West ham side must mean you're destined for the top four. Think Spurs looked a decent side, and no doubt they'll have a decent season..but they are hardly world beaters...should comfortably achieve top 6.
Caravans...doubt you've ever been to a match...And rivals are often based on location...but I guess you never understood that..
shit team shit support top four maybe next year
What?? We are not dreaming of Top 4 because we beat you lot you silly fool. We are sitting 4th and matching the sides that are considered to be our rivals for that 4th spot, mainly thanks to Liverpool and their blip. We beat a very average side that offered nothing in the way of nervous moments for us today. It wasn't even a derby match in the traditional sense. Not our fault that.
Deeply obsessed you lot, but hey, last time you lot gloated we were meant to be going down.
LOL at all the Hammers fans. Back into your box you go.
I thought we played pretty poorly tbh, gave them too much space in midfield and should've pressed harder and created more. A bit too much hoofball. They were even worse though so we never had to get out of third gear. But their injury situation is pretty bad and once it eases and Parker/Cole/Upson come back I think West Ham will pull themselves out of the relegation zone.
Happy to see Modric get a goal :) Really, really harsh on Niko though, and I hope we find space in our starting XI for both of them since they're both classy, hardworking players. The clean sheet and seeing the King fit and cruising was great too.
Feeling more confident about going to Anfield than in a long time, though terrified about Bale playing at LB. I'll miss you Benny :(
Huge gulf of class between us and them. Expected them to park the bus, so credit that they tried to play football. But I guess lack of sacrifice could be costly in the end. Not that I'm bothered.
Too much room? Didn't see that myself but still, they hardly showed intent in possession. Gutted for Niko, he's been different gravy in recent games. Should have layed it on when he came on instead of shooting. But I'll forgive him.
We eased this. Nothing from West Ham. Won't win a game more comfortably this season. Well, unless we get to play Wigan at the Lane again.
Huddlestone is only 23 and has already been written off a dozen times.
Patience people.
Rob(WHU) I think you should get back the Hammers blogs and start discussing how you're going to avoid relegation AND the inevitable administration that will follow it!
The 'caravans' comment may have been cliche but I can only work with what you lot of pikey Walford dwelling idiots give me!
Anyone know where you can sign up to a 'West Ham Relegation Party'???
Just thought I'd give some perspective to you guys...but will leave you to it..
Jamie...thanks for your contribution..
Rob you lack any sense of perspective (nap)
what a load of smug bollocks....Jamie spurs you are a retarded clown
There nothing on the West Ham blogs boys? Why bring your 'perspective' where it's not wanted?
My perspective on West Ham is that without Parker you've got no drive in midfield, without Cole you've got no goal threat, without Upson or Green you're defence is sieve like. The fact you've played more games than any other team in the bottom 4 should also cause you concern.
Your obsession with all things Tottenham is pathetic. Your constant voyeurism and launching of barbed tirades at Spurs is like watching a tramp pressing his nose against Harrods' window then aiming a punch at the security guard when he asks you to move on.
You really should go and worry about Relegation. Spurs are done with you lot for this season.
As for the 'Smug bollocks' comment.... You lot would be dancing in the streets of the east end right now if you'd beaten us today!
In fairness to WHU, I would say they have 4 decent players in Cole, Parker, Green and Upson and only 2 of them were available today, as Cole failed to start and Parker was injured very early on.. If they can get these players fit and keep them available for the rest of the season, they have a chance of staying up.
The problem for them is that if they are fit, some of these 4 may have to be sold next month and if that happens, I think the players left will struggle to remain in the premiership.
Any team which loses its best players is likely to struggle as we discovered at the Emirates, when Lennon, Defoe and Modric were unavailable.
Spurs to finish in top 4 ?
Not impossible when you have a team and subs bench full of internationals. Look a the subs we bought on today and the other players who cannot even get on the bench.
We could sell Pav, Hutton and Bentley and not notice they were missing.
If the money is used to buy a couple of top class players, the skys the limit.
Got to be quality rather than quantity as we only have league and FA cup matches for the rest of the season and will not suffer with an overload of fixtures.
If Harry gets it right, this could be our best season for years.
The world went briefly upside down last season but this year you'll revert to form and come down with the Christmas tree. I sat near your lot today and couldn't help noticing how many of your fans look like weasels or maybe rats. You spineless headwand wearing Nigels sicken me.
No wonder you get bashed so often. I don't think I could ever get exhausted slapping you around.
David has it right about WHUFC. I give them credit for playing with guts and flair despite having a tough go this season. Cunts played with tons of style against Chelsea, taking it to em and not parking the bus like Stoke or other teams at the bottom of the table.
Enough about hammers.
Good stuff today. A bit of swagger. Not enough goals to back it up but some really solid play all around. I've been a doubter of our defense all season but it's good to see solidity at the back and a ton of poise. Corluka and BAE, both of whom I have slagged at times have been playing brilliantly and Dawson has been heroic.
Seeing Modders back in action has made me believe that we really can do it this year if we get it right. The lads have to believe and they have to focus. Despite all of my whinging and doubting we can and should finish top 4.
Lovely people, hammers fans.......
Get over it, we've beaten you twice this season with minimal fuss, we now have to push on and aim for fourth spot and you need to try and hold onto your best players, avoid going bust and avoid relegation. That tells you all you need to know about the chasm that exists between our 2 clubs and where we now see your club in our list of priorities.
......no noise.....from the pikey boys......no noise..........from the pikey boys............
the wheels on your house go round and round, round and round, round and round.
I will be so happy when West Ham get relegated this year, especially if it is by just a couple of points, then we can hold our hands up and say... we really did f**k the hammers! :)
Great to see some WH fans on here, no honest. It mustr be a great blog as so many "rival" fans keep posting on it.....
Anyway, moving on. I see nobody moaning and complaining that Manure didn't get out of third gear to beat Hull, or the goonershits just about beating Aston Villa thanks to Fattyarse's cameo appearance. Oh no, they are world beaters, hence why I am gonna milk this for all its worth. Yes the Spammers were poor BUT we dispatched them with ease like top 4 sides do which is my point. We may not get top four, but we are actually playing like a top four side which can only be positive for us surely. In years (ok months) gone by we would have let in a sloppy goal or just about won 1-0 but we controlled the game, created chances, kept the opposition at bay. Isn't that what we are supposed to do? You WH fans can bleat on all you like about us not getting out of third gear and you lot being poor and us not getting into the top four. You have to release your anger somewhere i suppose LOL. I like Zola and it's plainly not his fault. Mismanagement, boardroom debt, takeover saga and fundamentally over-rated players. He can only work with tools he has got. Take out Carlton Cole and Scott Parker and Mark Noble and you had nothing. Upson tried, Green tried and Junior Whatshisface looked pacy but that was it. Nada, nicht and nowt. Nothing. So at last we can milk being in the top four, playing like a top four side, not conceding, scoring goals and oh yes, beating WH in their cup final (Again!!). We can put that next our other "look we beat WH in their cup final" trophies (cabinet number 3 as the other two are full)
COYS....
Have you seen our April schedule? We'll need to be ahead going into Arsenal, Chelsea, United consecutively.
The Hammers fans seemed obsessed with "cunts" - all we got was "Harry Redknapp - He's a Cunt" and "Jermaine Defoe - He's a Cunt" - very tedious after the 2nd time hearing it.. But I did laugh at their response to our "Going down, Going down, Going down," chant - "So is your manager So is your manager ..." and references to the taxman - thought the fans were much better value than the players!
Enjoy the school holidays Jamie....
West Ham were beyond awful. Walk in the park. Should have had them buried at half time.
David........ Enjoy the Championship next season. Cannot wait to see you lot get dropped to where you belong!
i am sure spurs have no chance to finish in top 4 not now and not in next decade especially due to emergence of new chelsea of manchester.spurs fans r delusional they think they r big club if that is the case then why even with such huge spending no real world class players or established players wish to play for spurs ,in 95% cases they choose other clubs with same offer over spurs.the present squad of spurs IS big but only in quantity no quality ,most of them are average , u cant call average players like modric ,crouch, kranjcar, huddlestone ,jenas worldbeaters ,they all are mid table medicore players and this is the reason spurs will never become a top side unless they do some drastic changes and stop copying arsenal in ways how they play, stadium as spurs stature is not anywhere close to arsenal to do so.and lastly yes u got better of us this time but gulf between u and weStham is not that much considering we operate on 10 times lesser finances than u and zola will surely solidfy us in future.
Hamma ... get outta that internet cafe m8 ... both yer ma's beards need trimming back at the caravan for the new year ...
Interesting that Spurs fans go to great lengths to say how much they don't care about West Ham. You would never have guessed it considering the large majority of responses relating to the article. Nice touch with the ticker too although I'm surprised you want to relive our solitary win considering the tears and tantrums of that day. We laughed ourselves to bits, when Tottenham got the shits.
HAMMA HAMMA thanks for summing up West Ham fans in one comment. It just goes to show how much the school system is failing nowadays. In fairness to you, you're probably homeschooled by your 'ma in a caravan!
Calling a player like Modric 'mediocre' is ridiculous. He's one of the best midfielder in the premiership and I'm sure he'll prove it in the coming months and next few seasons.
Not that you'll have to worry about watching the premier league next season when you're playing teams like Blackpool & Scunthorpe in the Championship!
I never disliked whu particularly but their fans petty 'rivalry' with spurs, the pathetic chants that were meant to pass for humour (singing Thierry Henry's name just to wind up Keane), singing pro-gooner songs back in the lasagne match etc. has shown them up for the moronic, brainless bunch some of them really are. Sure we have our share of idiots too, but at least we've got more than one song...Like Crystal Palace, maybe you should develop a proper rivalry with a coastal team...Southend Utd maybe? After all, you might be playing them before too long.
Sad state of affairs at Upton Park. Yes, Hammers fans know their place, they don't expect much, they take pride in the fact they are shit and they know we'll always beat them and yet there always there to tell us we have no chance of CL.
Us and everyone else. Us and everyone else.
Change the record.
West Ham are forever talking themselves up as being a smaller club mainly thanks to such delights like 'we finished above you a few seasons back' and 'we finished almost level on points' or whatever the tagline is. As if its something of consequence.
Hammer hammer, great post mate. Really great post.................makes so much sense........... you one eyed, sister shagging, cooking your toast on a bunsen burner, swapping dogs for grandmas, driveway tarmacing knob cheese without an ounce of goldfish brain!
Spurs have 37 points after 20 games and we are getting stronger. its now ours to lose.......good luck zola and co, you may need it as you are utterly clueless......ossie ardilies was also a fantastic player......almost as good a manager as zola.
Coys.
WHUFC: Sinking just as fast Obama's poll numbers :)
Great post over at gg by Paxton Yid:
I do love West Ham. Their bitterness seems to bring out a strange affection for them, in me.
I love the way they were singing "Your support is fucking shit" before the game had even kicked-off and Spurs were still on the concourse finishing their Bovrils. I liked "1-0 and you still don't sing" as if we should be screaming our lungs out because we're 1-0 up against West Ham. I don't want to sound like some kind of passionless Gooner/Chelsea fan, but we're usually singing "Que Sera, Sera" at this stage of the season.
Must add that I didn't hear any "Stand up if you hate WH" etc etc. Must have been a very small number of people joining in with that one.
The whole 'deluded Spurs fans' myth is brilliant too. It's one I'm bored of having to correct though. The media hype us up and when we inevitably fail, we as the fans get told it was us that got carried away. As has been said, I can't imagine that there is a more pessimistic set of fans than us!
This post inspired me to check out KUMB and on the subject of delusions, I see a majority of West Ham fans fancy themselves to stay up. As has been mentioned, Birmingham may fancy their chances of Europe. The Gooners may fancy their chances of the title. Burnley may also fancy their chances of survival. Are all of those deluded too? It's all relative. In fact West Ham fans often talk up their chances of a top 6 finish pre-season, which is usually as opptimistic as it gets for us Spurs fans - taking all of that into consideration, who is the most deluded?
Hamma Hamma...soooo funny mate. Modric mediocre...where did you get that one from, one of your poundland xmas crackers. So if he is meodiocre, your words not mine I hasten to add then what does that make...(see list below)
Diamante
Franco
Behrami
Kovac
Illunga
Faubert
Tompkins
I would go on but that would mean me looking up your squad as i can't seem to remember the names of all your other "world class" players which I find strange as according to you there is no difference between THFc and your "mighty" WHO FC..oops i mean WHU FC...well unless you count the NINETEEN points that you seem to be behind us.
Give it up sonny boy and get your homework finished
Great to see Modric score on his first "return" start! Even happier to see Ledley put in such a brilliant performance!
Happy New Year Spooky! Happy New Year everyone! COYS!
I actually think it's a shame those cheeky chappie banana chuckers are going down.
That's six points we'll have to find elsewhere next season.
Neilm
As to Ilunga's world-class quality, he did his hamstring in trying to keep up with Azza.
I think that says all you need to say about Ilunga, the nature of the match the other day and really what this fixture has become. WH were out of their league. Soon they will be literally out of our league.
Seems WHU may have had the last laugh, as rumoured Lennon out for a month, following injury picked up at end of game, when one of their players trod on his foot.
Seriously bad news as we do not have a natural replacement for him.
Better hope Defoe stays fit, as no natural replacement for him either.
Loss of Lennon is huge, as most of our threat comes from him.
FFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
west ham are to spurs, as to what spurs are to the gooners
