Sandro, done and dusted, so say the Brazilians...

Okay, brace yourselves for yet another tabloid explosion. I've seen the News of the World have already picked up on this, and had I not read Cule-Spur's post over at GG I'd have thought the hacks over at the red tops were ITK and not just looking across the Atlantic towards South America where apparently the Brazilian press have been running with the story since yesterday. Globo Sport broke it and have been running Sky Sports News style it all day and are also discussing the possible replacement once Sandro makes his way to sunny N17.

Sandro is on his way. I know. Who'd have thought it.

I guess there's money in the kitty to splash out with, post-car boot sale.

Then again, perhaps this is just an example of Brazilian tabloid guess-work. Keep panties on for now.

This is soooo going to happen. I just laugh at the media who seem to run exclusives like they're breaking never before heard news. Sandro was probably 'done' in principle back in the last window when Levy was out in South America. How much though, that's something I'd like to know. No chance of it being the original 16 million quoted.

i ll believe it when he gets his first touch of the ball at the lane ...I ve been asking around about Sandro and from what i gather he is a Wilson clone (with some technical limitations according to the brasilian standards ) but we have to see if he can settle in

One of my mates does some business with south american players and they tend to suffer with the european way of life ... not all of them off course but they do tend to take some time to adapt

Dec 11, 2009 at 12:35 PM | Unregistered Commenterbelgian spur

Having a Wilson clone probably wouldn't be too bad a thing, if consistency and balance is what were striving for. One covers the other. Although if he proves to be good enough to play with Wilson in the middle - then I'll be happier.

Modern day midfielder.
Destroyer.

Have not a clue what those descriptions (associated with him) are meant to mean but I'm hoping he can offer us something different to Wilson's tidy up work.

So it's 'one for the future' then in essence Belgian, 6 months to bed in and be ready for next season with no need to buy in the summer?

Dec 11, 2009 at 12:38 PM | Unregistered CommenterTricky

Destroyer? Is that 'bigger than a frigate'?

Dec 11, 2009 at 12:40 PM | Unregistered CommenterTricky

"Destroyer" - So not quite a huddlestone "aircraft carrier"!

Dec 11, 2009 at 12:54 PM | Unregistered Commenterspursfan

Tricky , i can only tell you the rumour around the brand

I m not a true follower of the brasilian leagues ... knowledge of the french and dutch leagues is essential for my line of work and i do come in to contact with the south american leagues every know and then

But i have seen lots and lots of potential world class brasilians growing homesick ... especially in rainy countries.

As it is friday and things are calm i m trying to get hold of more info but it is hard to seperate the facts from the wishfull thinking , however getting called up for the NT as a home based player at the tender age of 20 is a clear indication of talent (footballwise) ... the mental aspect remains to be seen.

Lets hope the boy can play.

This has obvioulsy been on the cards for for some time. When Bent missed that sitter in front of goal a few months ago we all obvioulsy mis-heard 'arrys comments. It wan't Sandra his misses he was talking about at all !!

If it's not on the Sky Sports ticker its not true.

i would still be surprised to see him in jan. i mean we have Jenas still and O'hara to come back and untill they are moved on its seems senseless adding to what is a settled bunch but then this is spurs and lets face it we buy for the sake of buying...

Dec 11, 2009 at 12:59 PM | Unregistered Commenter@yidsnews

First Sissoko now Sandro. Will be cheaper lets hope he's the better option.

Dec 11, 2009 at 12:59 PM | Unregistered CommenterHelloHello

If we get Sandro, you can bet that Portsmouth will put a bid in for O'hara, providing they sort their finances out before the end of Jan. Levy will no doubt accept a 5-6m bid as it will cover most of Sandro's reported fee of 6m. I would fully expect O'hara to stay out on loan till the end of the season if the deal goes though, at which point we will then sell him.

Dec 11, 2009 at 1:09 PM | Unregistered Commenterspursfan

With Modric, Kranjcar, Wilson, Hudd, the optoion on O'Hara and now Sandro, I believe we've got more than enough cover in central midfield to finally purge the club of that useless fucking cunt Jenas.

The champaign's on ice.

Did you get the champagne from 'arry? if so you'll find the label peels off and it is in fact just Best Cava from Lidl.

Curiously is you peel the usual label off of Jeans (has a good engine) you'll find it says 'won't exactly set the world alight footballer' underneath.

Dec 11, 2009 at 1:23 PM | Unregistered CommenterTricky

I'd have put T'Hud more into the Heavy Cruiser or even Dreadnought category myself. Wilson more a Destroyer, and JJ the Frigate (And a friggin' aimless one at that with it's steering gone and a tendency to go sideways). Modders, the MTB to get in amongst them quick and cause chaos. Ledders is most definitely in dry dock.

Which makes Sandro....?

Dec 11, 2009 at 2:07 PM | Unregistered CommenterWest Stand Bagel

This guy is back up to Palacios in my opinion. Every other player in the squad knows he is competing for his place. Even Gomes up until recently had Cudicini breathing down his kneck. There are two players for each position in the squad now. I still think Sandro and Wilson can play in the same team against the likes of Chelsea and Utd it will mean we can retain our shape and use the two destructive midfielders in the middle of the park with four attackers in front.

I think by destroyer they mean like conan the 'destroyer'. Likes to break the play among other things!

Dec 11, 2009 at 2:09 PM | Unregistered CommenterTotallytottenham

I don't see how anyone can say he's back up.

If he proves to be an excellent player, he'll start. If he doesn't he'll be back up.

Dec 11, 2009 at 2:19 PM | Unregistered CommenterTMWNN

I doubt portsmouth will be putting any bids in for O'hara.....

Unless Avrams going to come and wash dishes to pay it off!!

Dec 11, 2009 at 2:20 PM | Unregistered Commenterph49

Don't expect much for him until next season. He'll take time to adjust over here. Its important he does because of the relationship between his current club and us. The point being that they're players will make the journey over here (on loan) in future.

“We are strong in all positions, so we're not really in the market for players."

Really Harry, really? But the papers say we are. You lie!

Dec 11, 2009 at 3:30 PM | Unregistered CommenterWest Stand Bagel

WSB, I don't know if you know though, and this is a bit of a trade secret that harry's keeping to himself, our manager likes to keep his cards close to his chest.

Even to the extent that no-one really noticed that when he took over we only had 2 points from 8 games. I know what you're thinking now, how did fail to register when he arrived? Why hasn't it been mentioned since (despite it being a 100% factually correct and true statement of affairs)?

Well maybe he just doesn't like to dwell on the past, and just tells it 'how it is' for the here and now.

I don't see this guy as a replacement for Palacios.

He is captain of the Brazillian under 21's. He has made a few recent appearances for the national team. He is renowned for being a great tackler, not just a hard tackler and can really pass well.

He is rated highley by the Brazillians for his ability to read a game.

If he can settle in the premiership he will be a natural first choice.

Harry might have some great selection problems! Will be great for us to push on for that 4thspot place. Need to get rid on a few midfielders though. Bentley, Jenas must go! Leave Jamie at Portsmouth until next year.

COYS!

Has the issue of third party ownership been resolved? This is something I read when the player first came to our attention over the summer. Last thing we need is "Wet Sham Tevez" affair/ investigation and the prospect of docked points, etc, etc

why two transfers were never on.keane to celtic,on loan or bought.robbie on spurs books at 14 mil.would you loan a player out of that value.to buy, where would any scottish team have that sort of money?roman to arsenal,no way jose.arshavin and roman ,deadly duo in russia, and we will help them, when we are fighting for same league place, again no way.ps has any player been more subbed at spurs then keane?i smell politics here not football.

Dec 12, 2009 at 7:24 AM | Unregistered CommenterPERRYMANN

quick post about JENAS ...

he may not have set the Lane alight in recent games, but he has been a very dependable player for us and very loyal and has scored against Arsenal regularly. ~So the above poster calling Jenas a fxcing cxnt needs to go and see a specialist about his anger issues and blindness.

Its embarrassing to see such over the top anti Jenas rants, and it leads me to suspect the anti Jenas poster is a gooner, as I can't see why he would spout so much bile about a Spurs player that has picked up so many England caps and covers more of the pitch than any other player. Only an utter idiot with no understanding of the game would aim so much anger at an obviously decent player.

About that Jenas ...

He can be brilliant in some games, then sheit in several more ... He´s way too inconsistent and too often severly lacks of creativity. Way too many times has the lad left me frustrated with holding up play on our counter attacking moves. He seems like a really nice lad, and he actually is the player that puts in most hours of training of all, but I just can´t see him in our future as a "Top 4"-club.

A pity, really, since I actually like the guy
