International break strikes again!

Examples of how international week is detrimental to transfer stories:

Exhibit (A)

Arsene Wenger is considering a bid for improved ex-Tottenham keeper, Paul Robinson. The Arsenal boss is apparently seeking cover for the goal-keeping position due to the inconsistency of the current players available to him.

Exhibit (B)

Liverpool are looking at want-away Russian striker Roman Pavlyuchenko by signing him from Spurs. On loan.

Those pesky monkeys and their typewriters strike again! Robinson to the Emirates? I'll shave my head bald and tattoo Comolli's cheeky grin on the back of it if this deal ever happened. As for Roman to Liverpool, that's nailed on. You know, because of that other deal. Keane. He left us for Liverpool too. So they know they always get their moneys worth when they buy from us. Expect average Torres to come the other way as long as Rafa makes another donation to the Tottenham Foundation.

In other news Craig Gordon is apparently not happy about Jermain Defoe's challenge (for the ball) which left the Sunderland keeper with a fractured arm. Poor apparently. I remember thinking at the time that he JD was a little bit too optimistic about getting to the ball, but I'm not about to complain when one of our players shows ball-lust (stop it). Although I'm sure we'd be bitching if it was the other way around (I've had people tell me Bowyer's challenge on Modric was ok in their book).

As for JD (speeding aside) his grandma has had words considering on the pitch performances and his sending off re: Pompey so apparently he won't be embarrassing himself again. Perhaps we can get her to have a quiet word with Robbie Keane and remind him how to play from his heart rather than from a distant memory.

In conclusion? There's nothing more to say. I see the irony about reporting about reports that don't deserve to be reported on in the first place. I see it and yet it mocks me into reporting about it.

It's not even one of the good international breaks, the ones where the game at hand matters (from and English perspective that is - I'm more looking forward to Eire v France personally, more than our game v Brazil). Top 4 players dropping out of the squad every hour, at this rate Juddlestone will have their opportunity to decimate the boys from Brazil with deep-lying play-making and wonderful energetic bursts of pace.

What?

Was it something I said?

The other story in a quiet week is Cudicini's crash. The press are stirring it up to make more news. They say that legally he cannot ride bike, and may not be eligible for compensation or may get sacked. This is all rubbish, because all that's in his contract is that he cannot do career threatening activities. Riding a bike does not qualify! Although I would suggest them not to do so - especially a keeper whose tools are the hands/arms which are vulnerable when knocked off bike. That Robinson story is completely ridiculous. Pav to Liverpool? How can that work? Liverpool could never play him as a direct replacement to Torres (the best striker in the Premier league in my opinion). Pav doesn't have the pace or determination to play that formation, and Liverpool would have to pair Pav with Kuyt up front - hence totally change formation. Although I can see the desperation & convenience of such a deal.

Every international break without fail.

As for Defoe, nasty? Don't think so. He was petulant against Pompey. The Gordon injury is one of those things. See it all the time.

pav will love to play for mighty reds and he is a quality striker and why a player who is quality will want to remain in a small club in form of spurs .at liverpool he will experience what it is to play for a big club and great fans and on other hand spurs fan r joke we will get in top 4 blah blah ba ba ha ha babab bahabaha ba!!!!!!! and also constantly mugged and bullied by arsenal fans ,anfield will make him better as real fans who r topdogs in their city will fill him with confidence.

due to the break i need to get my spurs fix. its tough for spooky to satisfy me because there is never a whole lot to talk about so i looked for a new source. Decided to watch some spurs player compilations on youtube. i came across a few of the old robbie keane video. Him with his dancing shoes on, quick and cheeky. I thought to myself i wonder what is the difference between keane now and then.

My hypothesis, quite different then all that mumbo jumbo about him leaving and coming back, is that he is no longer wearing his dancing shoes. a tap dance should not be clomping around in doc martins.

his change in form as directly coincided with a change in boot. in januaryish of 2008 he switched from nike mercurial vapors to nike total 90 lasers. call me an imbecile but player associate boots with a style of play. my guess is robbie wanted to mix up his style play. it worked for awhile, the latter half of 07 08 season robbie played well but it was really berba pulling the strings then wasnt it. and we really didnt play much football then did we anyway having already qualified for europe.

maybe im wrong, but im just saying.

maybe time to go back to the dancing shoes

Thankfully it was only shown on Foxtel over here and at 1am so I went to bed rather than watch that tripe.

Always Lilywhite - Europa League? I though they were going to be the first club side to win the World Cup this season!
