'Don't make us destroy you'
It's Episode Seven. No Spooky this week, Thelonious Filth deputises, gentle applause please. Part I kicks off with a colourful round-up of what the Fighting Cock team have been up to. It's massively off-topic, so deal with it. We've got tall tales and blatant cheek from engineer Al, the defending of the C-word and a transfer deadline review. We also ask; What does Rafa van der Vaart do exactly? Part II sees a surprising head to head finale in a game of killer. We've got feedback, including an email that asks the poignant question: At what point does glory and success meet? And there's a NextGen report (via WindyCOYS). If that isn't enough, TehTrunk provides comedy voices aplenty. We end with a Twitter re-tweet mission update (come on Tommy, you've been warned). Also THANK YOU to Case. Listen in.
Love the shirt.

I don't know if you've ever watched a Spurs game but what VDV is doing is scoring personal goals, if you don't know he was Spurs top scorer last season even if he isn't a striker, and he helps his team win games and points with his personal performance specially when none else can do it.
He is a world class player and he was the most valuable player of Spurs last season.
Just to answer your question and you wont be kept in the dark.
I think the main question about Spurs is what are doing most of the other players and why they are paid by the club.
Spooks; It's always the same with Spurs supporters. When a player gets an injury, long term, the fans start saying, we don't miss him. He wasn't a team player. I agree with loanx that he was hugely important last season. We need to try and play a different system this year accommodating Ade and another striker. We needed a defender, but didn't get one. Redknapp has to go because, for all the good he's done, during the window, he promoted the 'feel bad factor' where it couldn't have been good for the players. It certainly didn't do the fans any good, going on the blogs on here. He disrespected our Chairman and he needs to be dispatched as soon as possible.
"What does Rafa do for Spurs?". You have to be kidding right?. When you are at the lane try finding a seat that faces the pitch you idiot. The guy is a genius but Redknapp has not had the type of lone striker up front we need. Crouch can't shoot, Defoe always offside and too small and Pav can't hold the ball up and keeps falling down.
That's the question asked/prompted via email. We more or less agree with the sentiment that it isn't Rafa that's the problem, it's Harry figuring out how to play him.
Perhaps when people click on links that promote podcasts and read a description they should try listening to it first before calling people idiots.
Hopefully you'll never be seated next to me.
:)
Can I nominate the commenters on your blog when you post a new episode as Pricks of the week? Seem to get more stupid and knee-jerk every time. Though I suppose that does apply to 90% of comments on the internet. And also by writing this I've joined them. Brilliant podcast anyway, keep it up!
Thanks Dan.
I have no problem with readers of this blog disliking the pod. It's obviously not everyone's cup of tea. It's quite obvious the above article is not an article. But there you go.
As a consequence, I'm now inspired to write a little about Rafa. Not too much, mind.
Is episode 7 going up onto Soundcloud still?
Listened to about 3/4 through last night through the link above then stopped working.
Some funny stuff on there all the way through, the accents and Flav's questionable late night passtimes stand out.
Good stuff Spooky.
Hey man, when you say it stopped working - how so? Should d/l all within the player than just stream it through.
Soundcloud is something we might move off from because they want £££ to host. But we've got something else planned soon with the FC website as another way of listening in.
Flav is uploading to Soundcloud now, so latest ep will be available there.
If anyone has issues with Quicktime streaming on above article, let me know.
I would drive VDV out of the Lane to whoever would take him, myself. Why?
Take your pick
(i) He inhibits Gareth Bale, any free kick left of centre up to 30 yards out should be Gareth Bales' to take. Witness VDV having a pop from +40 yards at Old Trafford. WTF?
(ii) Fitness, or should I say lack of it. Injury prone? Who needs it?
(iii)He is turning into Robbie Keane, dropping into his own half to pick up the ball.... NOT what he should be doing, being up and around the striker.
(v) We do not have a manager who is tactically astute enough to send a team out other than 4-4-2,,,, which, is how we perform best.
(vi) We already have a luxury player in Modric and as to which one should be left out is a no brainer.
I could go on but it is depressing to watch a team with VDV continually get overrun in midfield. Whilst
(iv) VDV saunters around like he's above tracking back when he should,,,, watch and look for this next time he plays.... he's a lazy cunt.
Did he do a job for us last season? Yes, he plied his trade at the Lane.... but like a dodgy builder, his stock in trade does not stand up to any kind of exacting scrutiny.
To surmise, he's a lazy sod, prima donna who brings less to the team than almost all the other players of his type in the PL.... witness David Villa at City for example.
We are doomed to be also rans so long as we persist with Mr VDV playing as he likes.
Ouch!
VDV = world class player (and last year's top scorer)
David Villa = not a Man City player (WTF?)
Doug = Gooner mong
David Silva,,, slip of the keyboard......
VDV world class player maybe 4 years ago.... and even then that is debatable, would he at any time in his career made a 23 man squad of players if you could choose anyone? Not in this or any other universe.
and frontwheel is obviously a stranger to the nuances of team play.....
VDV is, and will be a drain on Tottenham to the day he exits through the out door....
Quick note on the player issues through the website, it usually starts downloading to the browser and then just stops 1/2, 3/4 through. Using Google chrome not sure if that would have anything to do with it?
VdV or Defoe? I think it really is as simple a choice as that right now. They both want to shoot before anything else, after that it's really a question of where they do most of their work.
I don't buy this whole thing about VdV being lazy, fitness last year an issue for him, I always see him chasing players down, going deep to get the ball, things that Rooney gets applauded for.
But 4-4-2 does seem to suit Harry better, 4-4-1-1 turned into a long ball game rather than utilising the man in the space
It's happened to me once or twice. Stop streaming, refreshed, started to re-download and basically displayed the full length of the podcast as I began listening to it.
Probably just server timing out.
