wouldn't doubt it at all except for the 30th August acceptance part. We'll probably accept at 11:58pm on the 31st.
Club linked then from September 1 through 2025 with a world class striker, yet surprised can't buy for 50k, a souvenir Olympics postcard (used) and a packet of crisps.

That just about sums it up, why is it when Spurs go into a transfer deal of any kind it takes months to finalise, every other club make an offer, then make a better one, that's accepted and the deal is done. Man City, Man U, Chelsea and Arsenal have all brought in new players without any problems. Mr Levy I know you want the best price for Spurs whether it be buying or selling but dragging these deals on for so long is making it impossible to replace anyone in time for the new season, all our deals should have been done by now and the squad should be training together. We're just over two weeks away from the start of the new season and we need to get rid of Luka and buy two new strikers and a keeper and possibly replace Luka. Will their be enough time to do this? I doubt it. I hope getting shot of Harry isn't going to prove to be a massive mistake on your part.

I am struggling to see the “acute business” DL is renowned for in the current LM episode..even the biggest fan thinks he is well over priced by the club and hence the lack of serous interest..what will we gain from this in the end? A frustrated player who does not want to play for us anymore and a lost opportunity to capitalize on him while Real are interested..plus not being in a position to make any meaningful signings while we desperately need some..especially in the forward department..and by the way..where are all the “spurs new money” guys? Didn’t see any new money at all..just a couple of average signings against a couple of sales..same old story when we have a really tough match in 10 days..good business Daniel Levy..

Forget Modric. His head is in Spain but his body, unfortunately is still in the UK. Just let him train on his own and wait for January. How must the other midfielders feel that they are busting a gut to impress AVB and this little jerk, possibly, could walk straight back in come Sept 1st. Let him rot........ I'm getting a tad nervous with no forwards though. My mate is so sure that we have Leandro already signed but I'm not sure. I don't need any bowl movement powders at the moment as Levy's taken care of that.

madrid have bought hundreds of players like luka and they all ended on the scrap heap, look whats happened to world class players of likes of kaka, owen, robben, to name a few others, cago, drenthe , vdv the list goes on, all these guys had promising careers but came to crushing down so in what way can this silly boy make them better, the way i see it he's just another pear of clean underwear madrid wear once then trash for ever.

As funny as this is, it's sadly true. Spooky - where has all your VB optimisim gone? If Levy does not sort this out we will be lucky to get a Europa League place next year

Aug 9, 2012 at 12:15 PM | Unregistered CommenterLuke

I still have it.

In all seriousness, we can't not sign 2/3 players between now and end of August. It's imperative. If I can see it, Levy/VB can.

In the past, as imperative as it was, Redknapp had other ideas conflicting to the ones Levy possesses. This time round, there's no excuse.

Aug 9, 2012 at 12:16 PM | Registered Commenterspooky

Levy always has an excuse - the old "best interests of the club" argument. I like Levy but he is missing a trick this ear. I wish I had your optimism Spooky. Don't get me wrong, VB all the way for me but Levy is starting to jepordise the future success of the club even though we have the best platform to build on in years/decades. I am trying to be patient.

Don't no whether to laugh or cry. Personally I'm still pretty optimistic.

On a side note, there's no need for using these shitty Internet memes, they're not funny and it adds nothing to your already funny article

I'm not convinced AVB is too worried about replacing Modric with a new player from another club.
Went to the game at Watford on Sunday and I'd say that he'll be perfectly happy to go into the Newcastle game with the following starting XI:

Friedal
Walker, Kaboul, Vertonghen, BAE
Gylfi, VdV, Livermore
Bale, Defoe, Lennon

I've gone with Lennon because obviously Sandro will be having a rest after the Olympics.
If you look at that 11, based on the favoured 4-3-3, then the only place Modric would get in is instead of Livermore. That won't happen because we will always have one of Livermore/Parker/Sandro.
In terms of depth, yes we will need a replacement at some point, but from a starting XI perspective I'm not so sure.
Jenas was incredibly poor, so there's no concern that he'll get in the squad.
Bentley put in effort during his cameo appearance, but again, I see him being left out.

To me that still leaves the main concern of a new striker......

also august 15th - Nuri Sahin signs on loan with gooners with a set permanent deal clause at the end of the season, and spurs miss out on the most easily available and sensible modric replacement.

Aug 9, 2012 at 2:01 PM | Unregistered Commenterdavid

Regarding "I've gone with Lennon because obviously Sandro will be having a rest after the Olympics." Obviously I meant Livermore.... not Lennon

Aug 9, 2012 at 3:06 PM | Unregistered CommenterWalkerboy

LOL, thats exactly whats gonna happen, except the Saha signing, it'll be Rasiak coming in at the last

Aug 9, 2012 at 9:47 PM | Unregistered Commentertottihead

I hope VB threw the game at Valencia to force Levy's hand...

@walkerboy, if that is our starting X1 then we are in trouble, it smacks of Ossie's time at the lane, lots of 4-3's, unfortunately they will be losses though. As for strikers, I reckon Levy is gonna parachute Coulibaly in and claim he had it in mind all along ;))
