Echoing what you know already

It's times like this I was wish I was single because I can't see how I could explain hookers and coke away to the missus. THE DREAM IS OVER. MID-TABLE, PLEASE RETURN TO MY BOSOM cries out the voice in my head as it attempts to scratch its way out to escape from inside my skull.

Lacklustre, complacent, distracted and disjointed. No desire and no apparent attempt to grip the game by its neck and tighten our hands around it slapping it down and forcing it to abide by our rules. If we fail to turn up at Wembley next week I'm going to laugh. Proper laugh out loud with tears. Never ending tears. Of blood.

Credit to Norwich but this was gift wrapped for them. The ref did his best to aid us (two penalty appeals ignored for the visitors) but only time travel and a chalkboard for reference would have saved the day. Early season Spurs wherefore art thou Spurs? An Italian might have the answer to that particular conundrum along with an English man who failed to draw a definitive line under it.

Where (also) has the determined focus, drive and astuteness of the Swansea home game gone? Just when we thought our belief and swagger had returned, it's deserted us again. Just when our manager showed a glimpse of tactics and strategy it wasn't anywhere to be seen on Monday. Selecting eleven players and hoping they just happen to play well isn't good enough. From the boredom at the Stadium of Light to the White broken hearts of the Lane.

Momentum and mojo replaced with morbid misery. We had players for width and yet had no width. We had players of quality with no heart. We had very little of anything that deserved the three points so I really can't argue against it. Saha and Defoe don't work and yet there it was, both of them leading a 4-4-2 formation. Players rested but with Chelsea evident in the forefront of the manager and players.

Still, 442 or not, substitutions made or otherwise, we should be doing more than competing against the likes of Norwich. We should be beating them. We're now the team with the fragile inconsistent mindset. A shadow of what came before.

There is something far more fundamentally at fault here than the inability for professional players at the top end of one of the best leagues in Europe (supposedly) to fail to battle on two fronts. Psychologically we've displayed so much growth and maturity in the past with backbone and fortitude but we are still some what soft when it matters most. There's a failure of control. By manager and players. Both are accountable.

Here's some depressing stats copy and pasted off Twitter:

- Spurs form in last two years since January under Redknapp: Played 34, Won 12, Drawn 13, Lost 9, For 46, Against 40. Just 35% win percentage.

- Spurs before 8th February, the day Capello was sacked: 23 games, 50 points. Over 2 points per game. After: 9 games, 9 points. Two wins, three draws, four defeats. Relegation form.

- 24 - Spurs have gained just 6 points out of a possible 24 in their last 8 Premier League games. Dismal.

No point suggesting X manager at the helm would have had us sitting in 2nd spot. We haven't got X manager. We've got what we've got and until the season ends that isn't going to change. So what now? Don't know about you but I'll do the only thing I can do, the only thing within my power to do. Support. My hands are tied with the rest of it. If the players don't understand the importance of winning all the remaining games, if they don't grasp that reality like I do then there's very little I can do to motivate other than hope. The hard way is the Spurs way is the only way.

So wake the **** up and man up please Tottenham. You're better than this. So much better.

I don't think the Manager has been straight with the supporters for the duration of his stay, but the selfcenteredness he is now showing is blatent disrespect for the chairman, who's put his heart and soul into this. Harry would prefer to win the Cup than qualify for Europe, it's the easier of the two tasks. Then he can bask in the glory of it all and sail off to the Euro's. If we say he's a bad'un we'll look like the fools he said we were. Therefore I hope he fails in the Cup and we finish 6th. That would fuck up his little scheme.

I will do my moaning at the end of the season if needed as we are still in 4th JUST. And all off to Wembley Sunday. I just pray we win the cup and finish 4th then we have had a good season and look to push on.

Do you think all these fans signing we want you to stay to Harry are the same ones calling for his head?

Absolutely dismal indeed, the run-in, games that on paper looked like the easiest are in fact the teams we consistently turn up to play with the mindset we will win because we are tottenham, in fact we often have performances like that sh1te yesterday. No bottle, however the last time we won an fa cup semi final i have been told we had just been beaten 2-1 by Norwich. I hope to god they wake up for the last few games and man the funk up

Tottenham Hotspur is more than me, you, Harry, Daniel, bale, vdv and every name that has been associated with our proud club. I enjoy reading all these wonderful blogs that write fantastic inspiring comments when we are pounding the life out of Newcastle or out battling and out playing Liverpool. But as soon as we have a few results that we should have won all of us jump down the throats of the players and management that 2 months ago we were talking about in the same breath as our wonderful 61 double winners! Don't get me wrong it has hurt the last few games because we looked like we were going to breeze into the fantastic world of the champions league but unfortunately a couple of niggling little injuries and a bit of fatigue from some of our more senior players has disrupted our form. But lads seriously can we put all this bloody negativity to one side and concentrate all our thoughts and positive support to our biggest game in our recent history. Give the boys a bit of back slapping, support them until your throat is sore. No doubt I'm going to get people say its our opinion and were allowed to voice it, which is true but I for one appreciate all Harry and Daniel have done for our club and for creating the best spurs team I have ever seen. So like I said in the first line of my comment Tottenham Hotspur is all its about! COYS

Its funny how everybody has woken up to the "long game plan". I was going on about it when we were playing Real and everybody forgot or did not care about top 4, it was about glory - glory for 2 f####ing games.

It seems that its finally sunk in!!

We should have played our strongest team on Saturday and forgot about Chelski because thats where its at - top 4. Ive been going on about it for 3 years - NOTHING BUT NOTHING else matters, 100 cups will not equal a top 4 every year.

What will a cup final bring us - one day of glory in the sun - ye great!!! a top 4 = £30 - £40 million, attracts the best players, keeps our best players and so on, whereas a cup final may give us £0.5 million at a shot at the Europa Cup - great!!

I hope we lose on Sunday, I really do, I dont want the team and a bunch of glory hunters playing out the rest of the season waiting for a crap cup final - I want top 4 and I want Euro championship football because this is what will bring us long term success both on the pitch and off the pitch. Think f'''ing long term - not short term - we need to build and this is it - NOW!!

Finishing outside top 4 is a massive step back- we lose our best players, we do not attract any players and we lose a shed load of money, stadium redevelopment delayed and so on. It may take another 3 years to have a go!! Are you all prepared for 3 years of 6th, 7th, 8th............im not!!!

We have to win our last 7 games its as simple as that, it would stop all you negative bastards out there moaning and groaning... quite simply we need to win the FA cup and qualify for CL football, not one or the other both, and we can do it.
Its very unfortunate that we have had an elongated blip at the business end of the season, but we have the players to rise above it and win all our remaining games... so everybody stop moaning get behind the team we will come out of this mini slump and make it a very memorable season. COYMFS !!!!

Apr 10, 2012 at 8:02 PM | Unregistered CommenterBobby

Bobby, we cant and we must not!! We must focus on top 4 and forget about the cup. The players will not focus on top 4 with the FA cup hovering in the back. We do not have the mental strength for both competitions, at the moment we do not have the mental strength for one competition. Getting to the cup final will take away the players focus and we will end up in 5th pr 6th place.

Let's get a few things straight here because I am so angry at the way Redknapp has conducted himself since his name was mentioned for the England job. He has acted very crafty and kept his cards close to his chest about his intentions over the England job. He has the audacity to say that it has had no effect on the players or anyone else at the club which everyone can see that since all this came about what has Tottenham done except beat Newcastle 5 - 0. We have done absolutely nothing since that we can call exceptional. Our players look like they have lost their way, meanwhile the management sitting on the bench look like they are sitting on deckchairs at the beach. The tactics, if you can call them that, being used are totally inept from game to game. Redknapp puts players in postions they are not used to and cannot play there. We have players that are just not turning up which seems to be spreading all over the pitch. Adebayor is not a striker I would want to keep. People say he holds the ball up well but he cannot receive a pass without losing control of the ball and he is not an out an out striker the sort we have been crying out for since Berbatov left us. Every transfer window since we made Champions League Spurs supporters have had to endure the joke signings we have made. What do we expect when we don't invest in our youth or invest in class players. You can't expect anything when we buy players who are well beyond their prime. Redknapp has no eye for talent he only buys players with a proven premiership past. Arsenal have not really spent any money but at least they have a youth policy which brings players through time after time. We take on some promising youth players then let them stagnate and hardly ever give them a chance. Redknapp has so much to answer to and now is showing how good he really is. He is always about promoting himself and looking good. He never takes responsibility for anything directly simply shrugging things off. I don't know what he sees at the games but we have been crap most of the time recently. The Sunderland game was a a farce. We had all the possession but what good is that in your own half passing the ball back and sideways with no penetration into the opponents half...anyone can do that. Then we play Swansea and it looked like the team we all loved. The way we chased them down, the creative play and Adebayor was great on that day.
I hate the fact theat we have surrended third place to Arsenal but you have to give them credit they have stuck together and fought their way back and created their own luck, something we seem to be incapable of. It is such a shame as the early part of the season we looked so good and now we are just a joke and that has to lie at Redknapp's door.

Daniel Levy has put in an enormous efford to get this club where it is today. He has built a 'world class' training facility, got planning for a 'world class' stadium and got all the necessary backing from Local Gov and had all the compulsory purchase orders put through at the council in order to take it up a level to the top in England. He needs, (and so do we) first and foremost, qualification for the champions league every season. Harry was tasked with just that and that only. Harry came with baggage and he was supported throughout the court process to achieve a successful outcome on that by ALL the fans, his chairman and his players and backroom staff. He also had a health scare and was fully supported through that.
Now it was Harry's turn to get his head down and repay his chairman and his supporters and players with what was needed, (more than anything else) a run-in where we finished in forth place and qualified for the CL in Europe. He even got out of the Europa in order for us to have the best chance of qualifying.
Then the England job became available and , from that day to this results have gone 'tits up' confidence has dissapeared and he's decided that a nice Cup SF at Wembley will serve HIM better that the riggors of trying to concentrate on CL qualification, seeing as his concentration doesn't veer over in that direction any longer. He has let dowm his Chairman, the players and the fans.
I for one think he a stench-bag and would take great pleasure in seeing him fail at everything he touches from here on in. Especially with England.
The old saying 'What goes around-comes around' springs to mind.

Good Old Arry.....he is the one to blame for this fiasco.

Spurs built a lovely point gap from September thru December, so what does Arry do ? Mind the gap............4-2-3-1 formation to protect this lead......Points begin bleeding like the Saw Trilogy. Mind the Gap....Forget what got us here...........A 4-4-1-1 w/ VDV in the hole behind Ade, attacking wingers on the flanks..........Modric the box to box CM pulling the strings ...And the teeth in Parker holding down the solo CDM spot...........SPurs at their best........playing attack futbol but w/ enough on the BL to adequately win any game for 3 points..........

Instead...............4-2-3-1...............lets tinker............Niko & VDV starting at RM........Luka at LM...........Livermore and Sandro pulling the strings in the middle............Mind the Gap............Bale on the right / lennon on the left....Mind the gap................lets get creative.........Mind the Gap...............

If you want one simple illustration of how wrong Arry has gotten things on the tactical front --> Look at the last two games:

Sunderland --> he rolls w/ a 4-2-3-1 w/ his strongest CDM Parker who gives coverage in Sandro................which is simply not needed and an utter waste since he has to sacrifice an attacking presence for Sandro's inclusion.

Norwich --> he rolls w/ the bread and butter 4-4-1-1 but the CDM is Jake Livermore, who frankly, is simply not ready for this moment as solo CDM.....And look how lost he looked out there.........And that winning goal, he didn't close on a forward who was in an ideal location to pull the trigger --> LIvermore.

If Arry knew what he was doing, any 4-2-3-1 should have been Sandro & Livermore paired together & Parker getting the nod in the 4-4-1-1 where he has the capacity to operate as a single CDM.

Mind the Gap Arry................the problem is, Points conceded w/ all of the positive ties and yet again, another year while we stare at the Arsenal arse via the Table

long term is best, but by long term we need long term players, and not this short term thing, gallas, nelson, saha, parker, ade on loan, and king(he is short term in my eyes). we dont need players for one seasong, and start bringing in new faces again next season, that is short term, and do not work. we need to get caulker back, if he can do a job for swansea, than he can do the same for us. and sign one young, someone like verthongen, or him. but gallas, nelson, king all need to go. kaboul is not firs 11 material, he gets caught alot out of position, and that he was responsible for norwich first is not what i am basing this upon. he did alot of strange things agains swansea to, and have been doing this all season. but he can be a great right back. and walker a right midfield, in a given situation. but we need to buy younger players and not old has-beens. and that is not something that harry does, everyone know this, so if we want long term, we need to let harry go, or let somebody else buy in players for him. if we let him keep up buying, we will end up with joe cole, bellamy, carrick, rio ferdinand, nelson(who we have alreaddy),lampard, and parker on a 5yers contract. as good as parker has been, we cant relay? on him mutch longer, maybe one more seasong, but than he can be used as a sub, or in lesser games to rest the first choise. we got to do this if we want to have long term thinking. this is not a harry bashing, but i dont think it would help us to give nelson and saha new contracts.

Apr 10, 2012 at 10:28 PM | Unregistered Commenterthfclac

I think what we are seeing here is the effect of a long season on a squad that is not terribly deep. Some of them look fatigued; it is not coincidence they played so disjointedly two days after Sunderland. Levy and Redknapp have been fortunate that Walker and BAE have been able to play every game - but payment is coming due at center back as King visibly deteriorates by the game and Gallas remains bench bound. Is this perhaps management's greatest oversight when options were available just a few months ago; signing Cahill or at least retaining Caulker for the season? And while Livermore has stepped up admirably and Sandro is capable, both are redundant and expendable when Parker is in on the 4-4-1-1. Lennon's missed time is probably management's next unforgivable gaffe - not having one like minded backup to Lennon and Bale when their abilities are so crucial to Spurs attacks and counters. When Harry brazenly inserts vdV on the right or Modric on the left the shape unsurprisingly dissipates into a soft gel mess. And while the concrete footed Adebayor doesn't escape notice, its hard to assign fault considering the tactical mayhem taking place behind him at times. So with the boys tiring and Harry formationally challenged, it is no wonder things are slipping. But the end is near, one way or another. If they can muster some courage, fortitude and concentration there is still time to salvage this thing. I agree that top 4 is the goal, but if Chelsea at Wembley permits a return to good form, who wouldn't take it! And while the next opponents may be called QPR or Blackburn, they are really Chelsea or Newcastle in disguise all the way to May. Spurs just need a good game from anywhere right now. They need Harry to find that small untapped, hidden well of common sense that surely lurks somewhere in that ol' noggin' of his. And they desperately need the their best playing their best in their right spots (I'm looking right at you Bale)... Really, they probably just need a good night out!

what i am afraid of is that they get all charged up to the chelsea game, and go out guns blazing, and than get a real discharge against the next oponent, and play shit and we can not get 4th, and then will go all out for the fa-cup, and ending 6th. i belive redcrap would call that a good season. get the reserves agains chelsea, trow that match, and go all out for top 4.

Hotspurs, while I agree that the CL is far more important than the FA Cup, I'd rather take the cup this season.

Until revenue from a larger stadium is rolling in, it's clear that the current owners are not interested in spending the money on transfers that would enable us to compete. They are 100% averse to risk. To do really is too dear for ENIC.

The time to really invest in the team was when we last qualified for the CL. Next season, like it or not, will be one of transition. I know that failure to qualify for the CL will see players leave, but fuck 'em!

The new man will be looking at a rebuild. Clear the decks, build for a solid future rather than the short term hit or miss nature of Redknapp's reign where our limited 'success' is all built on sand. CL football would help us sign better players - although money is the modern player's God - but making up the numbers in a competition we've got no realistic chance of winning would be too much to ask for a new team and manager. We need to hire a manager who has a philosphy, then give him a couple of seasons to instill it in the players, not a continuation of having good players just run around hoping for the best.

In short, some have been hoodwinked by a charlatan, when in reality, false dawn #362 is staring us straight in the face. There are no magic short cuts, especially without sufficient investment, it's time to start again.

If people think for one minute that Joe Lewis and Daniel Levy are sitting there allowing Harry space and time to fuck up every bit of their meticulous planning and manupilation of the situation surrounding Tottenham High Road, dealing with the regeneration issues and investing huge tranches of cash into that planning, then it's time for them to get their Santa letters written again this year. This is not a fucking game that Harry Redknapp can manipulate to suite himself, this is an international business, well put together by two very quiet and unassuming professional finance men.
The most important part of the plan is to be 'in the hat' for qualification to the CL, season after season. This cannot wait, it has to be ongoing to allow for the stadium to start. Someone said yesterday that the fnances an FA Cup generates is minimal besides CL qualification and that is as it is. I expect Redknapp to be overlooked for the England job now, as anything else would show the FA up as a bigger bunch of idiots that we all know they already are. But actually I don't care what the FA do or who they employ, I care about my Football Club.
And TMWNN; it's not time to start again. Not with the investment already in there, it's time to continue under new management.

Apr 11, 2012 at 10:00 AM | Unregistered Commentercookiebun

Wise words TMWNN... wake up everbody, we are in the Brave New World of football now.

Football II: The Age Of Franchise.

Early this season I said this team is "built for purpose", and that purpose IS/WAS Champions League football next season. Not winning it, just competing in it (therein lies a corporate stratagy). Nothing more, nothing less. And then along came the England manager vacancy. Added to that saga the FA Cup run reared it's cowardly head (don't get me wrong here, I loved the OLD FA Cup).

Apr 11, 2012 at 10:12 AM | Unregistered CommenterTonyBlue

Blaming it on fatigue is beyond a joke..... NBA players play 5 days a week, at a much higher pace and play 82 games in a season.
We have a bunch of highly paid professional athletes out there who simply are not pulling their weight when it matters.

BAE pissing around on Twitter 40 mins before kick-off on Monday - should be fined for not focussing on the game preparations.

I'm sure Levy wants to sack Redknapp at the moment, and more so if we lose on Sunday at Wembley. Problem is, he wants some compensation from the FA in the summer...... Bigger problem is that the compensation figure would be approx £5 million, whereas getting into the CL is worth £30-40 million. At this rate we're going to end up with Everton winning the FA Cup and us finishing 6th, ergo no European football next season and the sale of Bale, Modric & Van Der Vaart.

Simple fact - Newcastle currently deserve 4th more than us or Chelsea......

Apr 11, 2012 at 1:13 PM | Unregistered CommenterWalkerboy

Oh and I agree with Cookiebun - to me THFC is far more important than "Team England"...... I won't even be bothering to watch our humourous antics in Poland/Ukraine this summer.

Apr 11, 2012 at 1:15 PM | Unregistered CommenterWalkerboy

Cookiebun, Modric wants out, we have no decent strikers under contract; Adebayor will follow the money, our two senior CBs are ready for the knackers yard, our keeper is in his 40s, no cover at full back, one winger who has one foot in the continent and another who struggles to play more than half a season (no real cover for either).

This season's squad, when all fit, is one of the best we've had for a while. But it has been cobbled together on the cheap with the very short term in mind. Barring a handful of half decent journeymen, unless he has a magic wand, the new man will have to start again.

Apr 11, 2012 at 1:52 PM | Unregistered CommenterTMWNN

Walkerboy - NBA players "run" up and down a court that is not a third the length of a soccer field and starters average about 30-35 minutes a game littered with frequent stoppages. They damn well better be able to play 5 games a week. But if you look at the NBA this season you'll notice some teams that started hot (Philly for instance) have fallen off considerably. They couldn't sustain the pace the season demaned and are thus (wait for it)... fatigued. It happens. But we aren't talking hoops here now, are we?

In any case, I wasn't suggesting merely their physical condition. I was thinking more along the lines of a mental/physical state; recently, they've looked burned out at times. Whether it was maintaining the expectectations they had a hand in creating so well by rocketing up to 3rd, or whether it was dealing with all of Redknapp's issues, or whether roster deficiencies are finally catching up to them, some combination of all - whatever the reasons, this teams looks worn. To say professional players aren't pulling their weight may be hinting at the same thing but it doesn't really explain anything. Which players? And why?

Not sure that BAE twittering is a valid criticism either. Some players stay loose until the whistle, some don't. What matters is those 90 minutes on the pitch. While BAE does have the occasional folly in back, on the whole he's a good left back and he's probably the least of Spurs problems at the moment.

Still, Norwich was a rough blow, one of those where every player should be questioning their manhood. Hopefully that will be the last we'll see of that kind of Spurs. It is just unfortunate their next game is not a league game. But that doesn't change the fact that for their own confidence and mental states, their next game needs to be strong. Regardless of which players could be rested, another demoralizing loss (even thought it is a Cup affair) could be the last nail in the CL coffin as well. They are at the crossroads.

Apr 11, 2012 at 2:45 PM | Unregistered CommenterJames Hardern

What's fascinating to me is the diversity of opinions from dyed-in-the-wool Spurs fans on just this message board. One says "We're not grooming our youngsters" while another says "Why are we playing Livermore?" One says "We never rotate the squad" and another laments "Why were VDV and Adebayor on the bench?" Or the hot/cold feelings towards Harry, Bale, and others depending on performance. All that not to mention that everyone has a different diagnosis for what's wrong and how to fix it. The point is good and reasonable people differ on these questions, and there normally isn't a single "right" or a "wrong."

The fact of the matter is, that line-up should have beaten Norwich at home. Slightly more forgivable but still frustrating is not being able to break down Sunderland. Those are the kinds of games United tends to win 1-0 off a Rooney goal in the 80th. We should also be able to compete in the Cup and the League with the squad we have.

At the end of the day, even if something about the team and the player's heads/hearts feels a bit off, we're still in pole position for 4th and could go a spot one way or the other. It's up to them to focus in and bring it home.

the fact is spurs overachieved most of the season and now they are showing their true quality or lack of it , on the other hand arsenal underachieved most of season and now we are showing signs that we would have been easily in title running , if there was no such chaos caused by last moment transfers and also how can u forget that our best midfielder hasnt kicked a ball this season i.e wilshere who i think is 10 times better than modric , who i think is the most overrated player in the league and u spuds want to believe it or not he is the cause of your problem bcoz he is suposed to be ur playmaker but even song produces better quality passes than him ..cant remember when did modric last time had a goal or an assist..

Cue your standard AFC NITWIT coming out of hiding w/ a POV that is some misguided drivel....my favorite of which was:

i.e wilshere who i think is 10 times better than modric (how did you settle on 10 times..........maybe roll w/ 3 times or 4 ??? lool) A POV which is as laughable as it gets if you watched both last year.

And then he references Modric's Assist/Goal tally while, if you know the game on the simplest of levels, Modric's true worth goes well beyond just statistics and is embedded in his ability to boss the CM part of the pitch, some lovely possession ability and a pass before the pass ability on a lot of goals (i.e. VDV's goal vs Swansea)...

Not too mention, I'll simply use this NITWIT's misguided nugget to sum up J.Wilshere........how many goals and assists did that "10x better then Modric" have last year ?? Hmmmmmmmmm........He must suck too and be completely over-rated. But, i actually watch AFC's games and understand his importance which goes well beyond statistics.

Go back under the fridge.......Your running your trap during another trophy-less and your in zero position to talk....

Daniel, great post. If I had a pound for every 442 v 451, I'd have a couple of hundred quid. Redknapp hasn't done a bad job, he hasn't done a great job. No one is really sure what kind of job he has done.

For my money, he's done alright. Next.

arsenal4ever - agree re Modric on form but I am not sure regarding ablity. In two years time whereever Modric is I think he will be the better player than Wilshire. Regarding underachievement most of the top 10 teams have had serious blips at some points this season and whether anyone likes it or not this is probably the strongest Spurs line-up (note not team) there has been since the late 80's. Spurs have underachieved as have Chelsea, the Woolwich and Liverpoo this seasonl. The Man Utd and Woolwich teams( player for player) for example are the most average they have been since the early 90's, the opportunity has been lost for a top 2 challenge.
The frustration is that the team hasn't delivered in the new-year and the old saying Spurs come down with Xmas lights is going to be thrown about. Nevertheless the gloating is a bit premature on behalf of you lot South of the river (in temporary residence in Ashburton Grove) -there is still allot to play for and the problems in your squad are still just below the surface.

Let's be honest here, after that debacle against the farmers and tractor drivers on Monday. Let's call a spade a spade, because that's what we need to lay proper foundations for the future as a properly competitive club.

If we want to compete at the top, certain decisions have to be made. No more pissing around. The other club knew Highbury wasn't big enough ten years ago, so what did they do? They put a business plan in place, a hard-nosed one at that from what we know, and built a new stadium that came in on budget and on time. Unlike the new Wembley, joke that that is.

What have we done to match them, match Man Utd, the top clubs? Nothing. Twiddled our thumbs.

Then we went on some adventure to get the Olympic Stadium, only to tear it down after we got it, that was always going to go down well, wasn't it, and move into the heart of West Ham territory.

Well, surprise surprise, the Mayor and government looked at us like we were scabby peasants.

So, having royally pissed off Haringey council by wanting away, then we decided we wanted to stay.

The other club, you will notice, built relationships with Islington council and Ken in his day. No, that's not the way for us.

Then we get Redknapp, who led Pompey to utter doom. And he's our new messiah. What? Well, to cut a long story short, we were all laughing three months ago when it looked like our paper-thin squad - our team, in fact - was right up there, but now we can see how deep that went and how thin Harry's skills are.

Honestly, I give up. Finally. After finishing in second or third or last place in the London glory race - I don't even imagine us winning the league, it's never happened in my lifetime - I fecking give up. We are standing still, or sinking, beset by ineptitude, on the hundredth anniversary of the Titanic. How very appropriate.

@cookiebun "Daniel Levy has put in an enormous efford to get this club where it is today. He has built a 'world class' training facility, got planning for a 'world class' stadium and got all the necessary backing from Local Gov and had all the compulsory purchase orders put through at the council in order to take it up a level to the top in England. He needs, (and so do we) first and foremost, qualification for the champions league every season."

Amazing. Only 11 years to produce a not yet open "world class" training facility....shame we probably won't have any world-class players to use it after the end of the season. Only 11 years and the OS fiasco to not yet have a single brick laid on a "world Class" stadium. Only 11 years to prove that he doesn't know anything about the actual game of football with a succession of managerial failures of which Redknapp is the most successful. He demands CL every year but wants it on the cheap and failed to invest when the initial CL qualification was achieved.

By any measure Levy has failed and if Sugar was in charge he would have been sacked long ago.

Just another viewpoint cookie, no animosity intended.
