The Fighting Cock podcast #01 - Harry, Luka and the summer of discontent

Welcome to the first ever 'The Fighting Cock' podcast. The recording went very well all things considered (had to change location twice at the last minute. We rolled with the punches and imperfections. Ghost ice cream van included). 90 mins of chat cut down to about 45 mins for the released version. We hope to have a more peaceful setting next time.

In terms of tempo, vibe and humour...we won't truly hit out stride until after a few eps so a bit of Tottenham supporting patience please (gulp) although I think we did mighty fine with our debut effort considering it was recorded in a greenhouse.

We've got a whole host of content and features lined up for future eps, along with some 'squad rotation' in terms of people guesting. The plan is to record a pod every 10 days. You'll be able listen to it here on DML via your browser (Quicktime plug-in required) or simply download and listen at your pleasure.

It can take between two days or two weeks before it appears in iTunes so patience all Apple fanboys and girls.

Check out The FC Podcast on Facebook for feedback and suggestions as well as one or two polls that we'll fire up over the up and coming weeks (including 'Prick of the Week').

If you want something read out or discussed on a future ep, please email us at thefightingcock at gmail dot com.

Love the Shirt.

Flav, tehTrunk, Spooky, Ricky, Chicago Dan.

Christ, so that's what you sound like.

Like a pillock.

I'll improve in ep2. I have personality. Promise.

I'm not sure I want to listen to this. It's a little like chatting to a girl online and then she sends you a picture of herself and she's a pig, all the time you've been banging one out to the filth she's been telling you. I don't want to feel dirty like that again.

listenin to it now, it's good! are you secretly jamie o'hara spooks?!!

Jul 28, 2011 at 11:25 AM | Unregistered CommenterMr Vexed

All seems a bit gay when it's vocalised. I don't mean gay in a homosexual way, but in a depressingly sad way.

Jul 28, 2011 at 11:29 AM | Unregistered CommenterTomst

Then I listened to it and quite enjoyed the chat.

Jul 28, 2011 at 11:58 AM | Unregistered CommenterTomst

Not sure there is much to talk about. Spurs are not buying so we start back in a fortnight with the same side as last so another season of nice play and no goals to show for it beckons. Probably get that lad from the Brazil club we have a deal with but that is about it. Same coffee that has been brewing every window recently. Might not like the aroma but you can smell it all the same.

Spooky, its sounds like Ray Parlour has hijacked your voicebox!

Jul 28, 2011 at 12:12 PM | Unregistered CommenterYiddenAgenda

Ray Parlour. Jamie O'Hara.

Keep bringing it.

:)

Jul 28, 2011 at 12:41 PM | Registered Commenterspooky

For a first edition it was good stuff. Got to remember Spooky it's a new thing to you as well as us lot so you'll think you sound worse than you do. Sure as hell don't see anything glaringly wrong with it

Comfort zone for me. I'm confident this is going to get better and better with each ep. And I'll find my zone soon enough.

Cheers.

Flav reminds me of me.

Not bad considering there's hardly fuck all to talk about.

The TMWNN seal of approval.

We've past the test lads.

Jul 28, 2011 at 1:43 PM | Registered Commenterspooky

TMWNN seems like a sensible bloke tbf.

Pretty good to be fair. Think you need to explore thoughts in greater depth, therefore would need to shrink panel to 3 max 4 people. Very interested in foreign viewpoint - educated and erudite . A guest spot each week would keep it fresh. Funny in places and if a couple gain in self confidence and pursue unpopular angles would be funnier still.
Flav = top top podcaster.

Flav eased into the presenting side very well. We're recording again next week. I think having got that first one out of the way, everyone should be far more relaxed.

That includes the Ray Parlour/Jamie O'Hara hybrid.

Good luck with it Spooky.

About 10 minutes in apart from the American guy I have no idea who is who, so can't comment on anything really!

Jul 28, 2011 at 10:33 PM | Unregistered CommenterDiaz

Enjoyed it.

Also I love the way the club always seem to be inventing awards especially for BAE - Most Improved Player a couple of years ago and now Spur of the Year!

Jul 29, 2011 at 10:21 AM | Unregistered CommenterFamalammy

I enjoyed it..will definitely be tuning in to the next one

Jul 29, 2011 at 10:56 AM | Unregistered Commentergsl

Liking the BAE talk. Next year he should be presented with a prize for Bad Mother F*****r of the year. The bloke oozes cool.

And good to know grown men have the love for Bale as well, my nephew ran out with him at a CL game last year. don't think he got excited as Chicago Dan though.

Jul 29, 2011 at 12:31 PM | Unregistered CommenterDiaz

I thought it sounded a bit amateurish, but that's mainly from a technical aspect and to be expected first time out. I did in fact thoroughly enjoy listening to it, some of it made me chuckle and there's a lot of potential there, so I look forward to the next one. who's that playing guitar? is someone writing it, starring in it and singing the the theme tune?

Jul 29, 2011 at 12:56 PM | Unregistered CommenterDeadly

Deadly - That's Engineer Al's jingle.

Jul 29, 2011 at 1:10 PM | Unregistered CommenterFlav

some might say it's his jingle jangle. good work fellas, keep it up. COYS

Jul 29, 2011 at 1:23 PM | Unregistered CommenterDeadly

Just listened, thought it was great, looking forward to the next episode.

Jul 29, 2011 at 2:15 PM | Unregistered CommenterCase

after some thought, i'd like to retract my "amateurish" comment as I think this contributes a lot to it's charm. nice to hear the comments about Benny and it made me feel old when someone asked if Darren Anderton was a good player.

Jul 29, 2011 at 2:28 PM | Unregistered CommenterDeadly

The location we recorded was not the actual planned location which would have given us something closer to a 'studio' feel. In time, it will all fall into place.

Again, thanks for the comments. Feedback always welcomed.

Jul 29, 2011 at 2:57 PM | Registered Commenterspooky

I'd need Chicago Dan to teach me how to work it so I can go to graduate school over in London. Entertaining guys. Well done.

Jul 29, 2011 at 3:23 PM | Unregistered Commentermsspur

I thought it was a very good first go of it. Given fresh news/results to work with it will keep me coming back.

P.S. Nice to throw in a yank there to cover my demographic ;)

Jul 30, 2011 at 4:03 AM | Unregistered Commenterbig sky spur

Very disappointed with the total lack of nudity!
Though that's probably because it's a podcast and I haven't had a chance to listen yet.

Aug 1, 2011 at 10:31 AM | Unregistered CommenterWinterWeekend61

that players who encompasses everything spurs stands for and wants to take us forward is jamie o'hara and look what our management did to him... we call for loyalty and then when someone gives it to us we throw it in their face!
