Tweeting Tottenham

If it feels like your permanently on-line at the moment, refreshing countless news feeds and message board threads in the hope of a breaking story or slice of information that will brighten up your day...you're wasting your time. You and I both know Spurs won't do any business until the final day of the transfer window and the only thing worth watching on that day is Sky Sports News in the hope that Jim White's head will finally explode on live tv.

That's not to say there is anything wrong with being permanently on-line. But there are better ways to spend it. No, not porn. Yes porn, but another is Twitter.

Don't be afraid, if you're not a user - sign up.

Might appear a little offbeat and irreverent to start of with, but if you follow the right type of people then what you end up with is basically a time-line of chat and information, a good mix of fellow THFC fans along with some top journalists (they exist) and esteemed bloggers (not just the Spurs ones) and statos. It's good craic.

So to get you started (of if you're on it already), make sure you're following this Spurs lot and a couple more:

@daviddinkin - Trust me on this, one THFC fan well worth a follow.

@tehTrunk - Creator of this lot. His facebook page is here.

@thedarkpav - Roman Pavlyuchenko's dark side.

@SpursSimon @Bentleysbird - Banter.

@MorrisKeston - Superfan.

@MartinCloake - Author.

@ThePOTL @EvilChirpy - Phantom of the Lane, allegedly. And post-surgery Chirpy.

@WindyCOYS @spursblogger @Studub @dompaczko @NorthernWrites - Bloggers.

@TLDORC @R_o_M - City. Utd.

You know what, far too many too mention. Full list here.

More concerned with WW3 and global depression tbh.
Still leave a little room for Tottenham reality distraction though.

just recently signed up to twitter spooks and tbh i'm struggling with it, i think the fact that i can't see responses to tweets leaves me wondering whether my reply will already have been said and thus i am reluctant to repeat, was going to ditch but on your recommendation i will stick with for just a little longer.....that said i have only been using it on my iphone is it any better on the pc? and yes, i am already following you ;)

Read ROM if you want to kill your brain cells

Devon - if you're following a bunch of Spurs fans and they follow back, then it works. Especially good fun for bantering on matchdays when you're not at the game. Better than the Beeb update page.

Maurice Keston can't be still alive can he ? He'd be even older than me - and that's feckin old.
Good on ya Mo !

I love Twitter,, if you follow Tottenham fans they SHOULD follow back and you can just share you opinions with each other plus they keep you updated!! It took me a long time to get use to twitter but I'm fine with it now :)

Afraid for me 'Twitter' and 'tweeting' doesn't sit well with my machismo...

Some would say 140 characters too short.

Twitter, out! ;-)

Banter = Making stuff up and getting annoyed about the smallest things

Main twitter advice is just jump in, reply to people, that is how people know you are there - get involved in a "conversation" there are no rules and no right and wrong - you get as much out as you put in

Anyone seen the Brad Friedel version of @DarkPav? @MadFriedel is quite funny.

Lots of Spurs related tweeting @vermonthotspur

I would recommend using TweetDeck and set up columns for your feed, your mentions and then a permanent search for #COYS - almost all spurs tweets will have COYS in it, so it's a great real-time feed of banter, especially on game day.

Twitter's awesome! I didn't get it at first but it's great for matchday banter and getting differing opinions. Fewer A-holes than on certain blogs (not this one!). SpursSimon and Bentleysbird are legends. I'm @chrismaddy84 by the way :D

@fenwayhotspur

I caved, if only just to pick on Jack Wilshire for being a muppet.
