Irony

Not having an operation on one existing injury. Declaring yourself fit to give it your all for country, only to get injured and need a different operation which results in a three month lay-off meaning no group stage Champions League football which is that thing you dreamt about for so many long years. But it's okay. Hat-trick against Bulgaria.

Three lions on a shirt.

fate?

I feel for the lad, I really do. Let's just hope we get through without him...

Fate. Irony. Bollocks.

Although I like fate only if fate means that Pav or Keane step-up and when Defoe returns we have blistering options in forward positions. That type of fate bodes me well.

should have had the operation....tut tut. We should stop our players going on international duty if they aren't fully fit

Tottenham officials came out this week and said that the result of his groin strain was due to an exercise machine he was using. NO surgery for the groin was there for needed making him able to play for club and country...

Its just down to bad luck the way hes picked up this latest knock

We won't miss him, love the way the media mention his blistering start to the season has been brought to an end by injury, WHAT blistering start, if missing sitters against Man city, YB etc is blistering then yes, he has been amazing!

Sep 10, 2010 at 12:21 PM | Unregistered CommenterOssie

we'll just have to get into the group stages again this season for him. ;-)

Fuck England.

Sep 10, 2010 at 12:31 PM | Unregistered Commenter2P8G

Yes, as the above poster said, who actually gives a shit about England?

Sep 10, 2010 at 12:32 PM | Unregistered CommenterKC

For us he has scored zero league goals v Man City and Wigan . We do have Keane , Pav and Crouch plus I believe Gio could play there if needed . If we create chances we should still score goals - which we did not v Wigan and Man City with Defoe playing .

Sep 10, 2010 at 12:34 PM | Unregistered Commentergraham

He was injured scoring his third against Bulgaria, then played in Switzerland just 4 days later.

Stupidity.

Sep 10, 2010 at 12:34 PM | Unregistered CommenterTreeHorn

Might give us a chance to play one up top with a myriad of midfielders breaking forward.

Yes i said myriad

Sep 10, 2010 at 12:39 PM | Unregistered CommenterPLN

I see your "myriad" and raise you "veritable cornucopia"

Sep 10, 2010 at 12:52 PM | Unregistered CommenterNayim

Interesting one for you. Thoughts on captain for when King is rested with Daws now being out?

Sep 10, 2010 at 1:13 PM | Unregistered CommenterPK

well i keep reading about how quickly harry will have to learn to do well in the CL. here is lesson number 1. does anyone believe for one moment that fergie or whinger wd have allowed the player to go on international duty when they had a whiff of an excuse such as the groin op. had been bothering him since the wc he said just the week before the first international but suddenly ok for england game. we pay his wages, 60 grand for 12 weeks, down the toilet and a very busy fixture list in those 12 weeks. dumb dumb and dumb to have let him play.

Sep 10, 2010 at 1:14 PM | Unregistered Commentercyril

He has been rubbish for us in 2010 anyway tbh, i think he was on the verge of being dropped anyway.

Problem is Keane and Pav dont deserve even a look in

Time for 451 or Gio up top with Crouch which seemed to work well against Villareal.

I have an ITK that is sure Sandro will start tomorrow apparently they have been soo impressed I would be surprised but you could see why with Palacios form

Nice one Cyril

Anyone know why Sandro's not been included in the CL squad? Oh, yeah, and fuck England too. Who gives a shit about Capello and his goons.

Sep 10, 2010 at 1:29 PM | Unregistered Commenterdocomospur

I feel as though Keane, Pav and Crouch are all just a step behind the curve--if one of them can step it up we'll be okay. Maybe Gio will solve our problems. I weirdly feel as though Keane could step up and fill a role where he doesn't really score as much as create opportunities for the midfielders. Too bad, we could really use Eidur in that role now.

Sep 10, 2010 at 1:35 PM | Unregistered Commenternycyid

Oh well, Defoe will get his chance again soon.... PAV is the man for tomorrow. Id love us to line up like this:

Carlo
Charlie King Gallas The Machine
Thudd SGT
Azza VDV Modders
Pav

Oh no. I may have just let out a bit of sex wee....

"Anyone know why Sandro's not been included in the CL squad?"

I would imagine it's because he's U21. Bale is not on the squad list on the UEFA page either - and in fact, it looks like it is just our Premier League squad.

Sep 10, 2010 at 2:01 PM | Unregistered CommenterWalkerboy

Capello may as well call up our players and then just hit them in the knee with a big stick when they arrive. Would save us nervously watching them play for England.

Sep 10, 2010 at 3:07 PM | Unregistered CommenterOssiesknees

I think Michael Ricketts could get goals up front with the chances our midfielders SHOULD create.

Sep 10, 2010 at 4:45 PM | Unregistered CommenterPLN

Dammit.... Sandro's not even on the "B" list for the CL games.
Even though he's U21 he hasn't been with us long enough.

Why is he not on the A list, yet O'Hara is????

Sep 10, 2010 at 10:05 PM | Unregistered CommenterWalkerboy

Wouldn't be Spurs without all the drama.

Sep 10, 2010 at 11:07 PM | Unregistered Commenterelwehbi

3 goals against Bulgaria yet how many league goals has he scored over the course of this calendar year?...
Does he score in the big games? No

Just like Ginola, adored by the clueless would dazzle against the likes of Burnley or some lower league cup team. Yet when against the likes of Chelsea, Man U etc would go missing or have a stinker of a game.
