Spurs away to Wolves...this is no side show

13 games left. And tonight's visit to Wolves is a 100% 'have to bloody win no sorry pathetic excuses or what ifs' type of encounter. I know we can't and won't be winning all our remaining matches, but (with no disrespect meant) this has to be our three points. Grafted and deserved. It's considerably more comfortable a game than one or two other fixtures ahead of us.

The opposition might not be big, but the game is most definitely king-sized. Complacency? I damn you to hell. Plums are of no use here, bring your grape-fruits.

Can we do it? We can, can we not? You're not stalling your answer, are you?

So therefore, I expect to be pushing ahead with my planned demonstration outside THFC tomorrow, with one banner, one simple banner stating the words: DIE LEVY DIE

I am not asking for the resignation of any of the directors or the manager. It's not that kind of demonstration. I am simply pointing my finger towards the person solely responsible for the club and it's progression so others witnessing are left with no doubt as to the persons identity, allowing them to join in with proceedings. It's subtle, I know. And you might wonder why I'm doing this in German. It's dramatic. It reminds me of Klinsmann.

Harsh you might think that I'm waving my finger just at the chairman. And I do believe he should have done more in the last window. Not suggesting we over-spent or panic-bought. But simply worked harder to secure a deal for another midfielder. We've had since the summer to do so. The chance to consolidate is one that has been missed. Much like 2006. But the team is still more than capable. And we remain a club without (potentially) crippling debt.

I'm ignoring Harry's 'we can finish about Arsenal' media-friendly pre-match nonsense. And I'm happy to hear Luka speak of the Wolves defeat (back at the Lane) and how revenge is on the cards tonight. And although King will be absent, I can not disagree that if we do continue to play the way we are playing, we are going to hit good winning form.

I personally believe we'll smash someone to bits very very soon. Teams defend deep, suffocate space and make it a pain the backside for us when playing in N17 causing way too much fragmented urgency. Away, it's different. They come and have a go, allowing our players to use the space presented to them. It's ironic we are more comfortable on our travels. No always, but more often than in previous years.

We need to be lucky by making up our own luck. And we need to take a risk, both on the pitch and off it (then on it) - in the way of substitutions at pivotal moments in the game. Would be nice to see Niko make an appearance tonight - at some point. And the continued improvement of Bale and Bentley goes without say. But most importantly, we need to be patient. Much like we were at Leeds in the cup.

So, with those thoughts in mind, I'm hoping to see you all tomorrow, outside the ground at around 11am. In celebration of victory, and in celebration and support of our chairman. A love parade of sorts. A demonstration of endearment for The Levy; Daniel Levy. And the supporting cast of manager and players. Our support is very much needed. Believe. And the players will believe.

After tonight, its down to just 12 games and 36 points.

Can we do it? We can, can we not? Of course we bloody can.

COYS.

We should have strengthened in the summer and January windows.
Harry has to sell before he can buy !!!!
How do you break into the CL with a policy like that.
If you don't buy when you should you suffer the consequences.
Just hope we can keep hold of our best players in the summer.

WE NEED LENNON, BENTLEY CAN'T RUN, NOT EVEN WITHOUT THE BALL.

Feb 10, 2010 at 9:35 PM | Unregistered CommenterBOTLEGGS

Players need to take a long hard look themselves after this fucking joke - seriously fucking pissed of with this. Players bang on about how they want CL and that we're good enough for CL and they can beat fucking wolves.

Arrrrrrgggghhhhhhh!!! Useless fucking cunts.

Honestly speaking, let us take a critical look at Bale's aura in the team. Ever since BAE went to the sick bed, how many games have we won in the PL with Bale taking his place? ONE, that is all. How many points have gained with him playing? Don't get me wrong, he is a good player and all but one can't deny the fact that he brings so much bad luck with him. Will be best to have him on the bench for the rest of the season.

1 shot on target in 50mins - hahahahahaahahahahahaaaaa! What a joke we have become........ :(

3 HOURS PLAYED AGAINST WOLVES AND NOT A SPURS GOAL IN SIGHT.
NOT ONE EFFORT ON TARGET IN SECOND HALF. ABSOLUTE JOKE.

Feb 10, 2010 at 9:45 PM | Unregistered CommenterDAVID

How about Redknapp now drops Tom "can't make a 5 yard pass" Huddlestone. Bentley is the most selfish player at Spurs and Defoe has simply lost the plot recently. Shit performance after shit performance. If the players don't want to try to win how about giving the shirts to 10 die hard fans (can't fault Gomes), I'm sure we'd make more effort than that lot. And PLEASE teach Crouch how to use his 6 foot 7 inch frame to WIN A BLOODY HEADER WHEN WE BRING HIM ON!

4th place Arry? Not fucking likely.

Feb 10, 2010 at 9:49 PM | Unregistered CommenterDoglegz

Don't utter load of shite, we made Villa and Hull look like Brazil out there.

We had sodding 25 right backs at the club not long ago and we sodding sign kaboul in a china shop and play him bllody right back. Should be made to walk home the lot of them.

Anyone want an Everton ticket start bidding at a fiver?

Feb 10, 2010 at 9:58 PM | Unregistered CommenterIaG

We might as well stick Gomes up front, Crouch needs to have a cattle prod inserted up his arse with Joe Jordan with a remote. Sodding bentley should be fined for every wanky flick which doesn't come off, i love skill but if you cannot do the simple thing well I am preaching to the converted there. Defoe seems to have become Gordan Durie without the pace. Modric and Tommy were having moments with simple passes. Bale keeps cutting the ball back to noone having beaten three players. My dodgy feed cut out and I didn't actually notice Jenas had gone off until Wilson hospitalised that nancy Jarvis.
Think that is the worst performance since Anfield.

Feb 10, 2010 at 10:00 PM | Unregistered CommenterDM78

We played well against villa and hull but were unlucky, today we were dreadful though and that ain't good enough.

As for bale perhaps I should listen to you and take my head out of the sand and read up on ancient curses of Welshman in north london - muppet.

Feb 10, 2010 at 10:12 PM | Unregistered CommenterDM78

Harry out! What was he thinking of starting with half a bloody reserve side against a team that has already beaten us? Showed no respect to the opposition and disrupted the team that performed so well (apart from scoring) on Saturday. Nearly every player was a lazy arse who couldn't pass straight, but what can you expect when the poxy manager buggers it up for them. Harry out!

Sad day for mighty Spurs. I can't say I am shocked to be honest. I didn't have a good feeling about this fixture. After today's match I think EVERY SINGLE MATCH is going to be hard for us. My hope's are that we can finish 6th. I'll live with 7th.

Feb 11, 2010 at 3:57 AM | Unregistered Commenternycyid

Thank God I missed this match (televised at 4am to 6am here)

Very dismayed upon learning the result, even more so when I saw who were in the starting lineup.

Without witnessing the match, the result was inevitable. Why the f*** did we start with Jenas, Kaboul and Gudjohnsen?

Harry - why are we repeating the same mistakes?

- Why are we not playing a settled side? Look at Birmingham's success.
- Why are we changing the lineup for no reason? Are we resting players for the FA Cup? Does this mean we now view the FA Cup as a more realistic prospect of success? Winning the trophy only guarantees Europa Cup, not the Champions' league. Look at what happened to us in the later part of 2005-06. We were challenging on three/four fronts. The players were knackered but we were enjoying ourselves and we were beating teams more than losing. Momentum can never be underestimated.
- Why are we using players not up to the mark? I am not only looking at ability, but also at hunger (or lack thereof). Liverpool were more hungry than us to win, so were Stoke, Wolves (the first time), Hull (at WHL) and Birmingham. Teams will park the bus knowing this is enough to stop us. How do we react?
- Did you really think we could simply turn up, roll Wolves over and win? If this is complacency, then we dont deserve to be in the Champions League.
- What's the point of talking about taking third place, when we would struggle to finish 8th? I am looking at Birmingham and Everton nervously ......... we have no chance with Man City, Liverpool and Aston Villa and we can forget about catching L'Arse

Bale is not cursed, but the loss of BAE is hurting us badly. I have to agree with observations that our poor run of form coincides with his absence.

There's no big difference between finishing 7th and 17th - at the rate we are going, what promised to be a season of difference is panning out just like years gone by.....

WTF was that scrotum load of tosh!

I wish that it didn't matter to me that a) we lost what could have been a useful game in getting us back on track, b) the team appeared to be bereft of ideas, and c) I cared about the team performances.

Feb 11, 2010 at 8:55 AM | Unregistered CommenterTricky

haha harry, Jenas has made you look like a total nobhead. Subbing him off at half time well you should have fucking sold him and brought someone else, someone who looks like they actually want to be there. He was embarrassing last night. Personally I think he should give up football and do something else because he clearly doesn't want to be there.

Kranjcar has showed he was a flash in the pan. The sad thing is, he'll probably stay at spurs for another 2/3 years, but he'll never reach the levels of performance that he did in his first 10 games.

Gudjonsen? Harry, your treatment of Pavlyuchenko is looking more and more dick-headed by the minute. We now have 2 strikers who are nowhere near PL match fit, and who knows when they will be. Gudjonsen, as well as being unfit, was just going through the motions out there. If he continues to show that level of effort then we will be crying out for the return of old wavy hands.

Dawson - the mask well and truly slipped last night. How you and JJ contrived to leave Jones completely unmarked is beyond me. Oh no, I've just remembered, you're a fucking liability, the pair of you. The long aimless punts relly pissed me off too. He's just not good enough. A defender's worth is generally measured by how few mistakes they make, not how much good stuff they do, and Dawson makes gaping errors on a regular basis. When games are tight, and they often are in the PL, we can't afford to be giving stupid goals away.

Kaboul was ok, Defoe also woeful but then again he usually is when he's not scoring. It was a game where the flaws that have been evident in our side for some time were exposed for all the world to see. Harry needs to go back to playing a settled side and stop dicking around with idiots like Jenas. If you need to sell before you buy, then fucking sell him!! Otherwise, continue to be made to look like a cunt whenever you pick him.

Feb 11, 2010 at 9:21 AM | Unregistered Commenterchrisman

Agree Jenus needs to be moved on, but that has been the case for a while now, its just because Robbie isn't here to blame any more it highlights Jenus's attempt at playing football. Boys we've found our new scapegoat! lol He was sooo rubbish last night, and rightly subbed at the interval. I think harry was trying to rest a few tired legs last night, however I think playing kaboul at RB wasn't the best idea when walker is itching to get a game and is match fit having played for Sheffield utd all season (not that i'm suggesting kaboul isn't, but he isn't a RB). We should have kept O'hara and loaned out Jenus to Portsmouth, he would have been a better backup for Wilson. other than that I think the team would have been OK last night. Maybe still not performed as well but I don't think we would have lost. O'hara brings a bit of bite and passion to the team i feel. I'd like to see him back at the lane, can you tell ;-) Also what was Dawson doing when the cross came in for the goal? His form seems to be gradually slipping and I am really starting to loath the 50 yard balls to crouch every time he gets the ball. I know crouch was brought on late on but we needed to still mix it up a bit. We know wolves can already deal with him from when we played them at the lane.

4th is still possible and it wouldn't be spurs if we didn't make it hard for ourselves. COYS

Feb 11, 2010 at 10:04 AM | Unregistered Commentermazzatron

I don't agree with resting tired legs. Palacious was 'rested' against Leeds, and we havent' even had europe as an excuse for burn out this year. Harry waas trying to be clever, and also I think there was definately an element of giving Palacios and Modric a kick up the arse after lacklustre performances against Villa ( I dont care what Modric's admirers say, he was below average against Villa and I think this pissed Harry off). The problem with Harry's tactic, and why it backfired so spectacularly, is that the replacements aren't of the same standard. Yeah Kranjcar is pretty good, but he's not at the level of Modric, and a below par Modric is still ok, whereas a below par Kranjcar is a waste of space. Same comparison can be made with JJ/Willy P. Also what does it say to Pav? Gudjonsen swans in, clearly not fit, starts right away, does nothing. Harry has badly mishandled the whole Pav/Keane/Strikers situation. You gotta deal with these primadonnas. Who gives a fuck if he cant be arsed to train. Point are won at the lane, not at the training ground. If he does the business, get off your damm high horse harry cos you are cutting your nose off to spite your face here.

JJ did his usual trick for the goal - track back, be in the right position, but when the crucial moment comes in the box, completely freeze and just watch, open mouthed, as the opposition score. I dread to think what Harry did to him at half time. Just subbing him is bad enough. Surely this is officially the end of his spurs career. What little confidence he had would have been ruined last night. I wouldnt be surprised to see o'hara recalled.

Feb 11, 2010 at 11:00 AM | Unregistered Commenterchrisman

IMO when we chose not to invest £30m+ in the side in January, after failing to invest in the summer, we showed that we were content with aiming for Europa League qualification and were unwilling to make the big investment that a serious top 4 challenge demands for this season at least. Last night was a direct consequence of that decision.
