Sir Bobby Robson, RIP

A true gentleman and a wonderful servant to the game. Put up a brave fight and fought it to the end. Exactly what you'd expect from the man. Thanks for the memories Bobby. You were a fantastic England manager.

Up with the Gods where you belong.

I second your thoughts Spooky. Booby was a great manager and an even greater man.

RIP Sir Bobby.

Never forget Italia '90. He put up with a lot of shit from the press in the previous World Cups but his class throughout has been undeniable. A proper gentle giant of a man.

I doubt anybody involved in football will not feel a little sad this morning. Absolute legend to the end. He must have been devastated seeing how newcastle have been run into the ground. You'd hope if you were a Geordie this would put things into perspective and allow someone who loves the club take them forward again.

Yes, RIP Sir Bobby. A true gent, a legend.

Just put into perspective the whole Twittergate thing. Darren Bent take note of how to conduct yourself. You will be remembered for nothing whereas Sir Bobby's memory and status will live on.

In days of premadonna footballers and strange England managers one man seems to stand alone. I won't remember Graham Taylor, or Glenn Hoddle (as a manager), or Sven but I will remember Bobby. A true legend. It's interesting to read everyone's comments, no one seems to have a bad word to say about him - I think that really speaks volumes of the giant of a man that almost brought football home.
Rest In Peace, you will never be forgotten.

when shola ameobi was asked if sir Bobby had a nick name for him

the fact that Sir Bobby had nothing to do with Tottenham, yet there are so many tributes to him on here shows how much he was loved and respected. A true gent, great football man, and an absolute legend. Being Welsh and saying this about an England manager is rare, but Sir Bobby deserves it. A legend, will never be forgotten. RIP Sir Bobby.
