Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at 4:06PM In an interview over at West Ham Till I Die, Scott Duxbury has once more reiterated that they will not sell any of their players to us. Their fans do not want to see their best players sign for their most bitter local rivals. Nothing more sickening apparently.
What a melter.
The day a player of the ilk of Palacios or Modric turns us down and signs for them instead is the day that the word 'rival' can be used with much deserved acclaim in response to what we think of them. That and if Chelsea and Arsenal suddenly cease to exist.
I know what you're going to say, the very fact that I'm mentioning this is giving credence to the fact that I must care enough to mention it in the first place. I guess I'm only doing it to once more remind the people who do care (guess who) that they are the ones who perpetuate this demented obsession.
We're a bigger club than West Ham much like we are bigger than Fulham or Pompey. It's not arrogance, it's fact based on about a hundred different things (talk amongst yourselves). Much like Manchester United and (unfortunately) Arsenal are bigger than us. That's life as it currently stands. I'd say it to any Fulham fan too. Not with abuse or disrespect. But with a factual nod and hug.
I guess I'm now perpetuating the stereotype that the 'ammers see as our demented obsession.
I guess by virtue of this type of banter, we are rivals of sorts. Like the neighbour a few doors down with the smaller garden claiming that his is better than ours because he has more garden gnomes than we do...with us shouting back that we never said we've got a better garden but now you mention it...
If that's the case, I'm getting my suit measured for the Cup final.

I have just been talking to an associate who has had dealings with Mr. Levy and he found him intransigent and narrow in his outlook.Spurs will never make the top 4 while he is in charge of things.

Mike B, Mr Levy actually took the time to personally respond to a hand delivered letter and offer someone I know quite well the opportunity to have a cup final ticket as both they and their son were just short of the loyalty point requirement despite going to all home games last year..... Not all bad...

To all West Ham fans, just to let you know once & for all the reality of things, I live in Spain, and as a Spurs fan it's a bitter pill to swallow my team being down the pecking order of big clubs, but it's still a big club, enough for the Spanish to recognise. West Ham, they've never heard of, get real, your not a rival, your not even in the pecking order, it's a fact a life.

Just started a new game in Football Manager 2009. Looking at the Tottenham information page, under the "Fierce rivals" category lie Arsenal, Chelsea, while under "Other rivals" lie poor little West Ham. On the flip side, West Ham's "Fierce Rivals" include...would you look at that, Tottenham Hotspur. That about sums it up for me. And what other definitive source of football is there other than FM?
I love the fact that you consider Chelsea and Arsenal rivals- great sense of humour- in what exactly best pies? most fickle fans? (Chelsea)- I suggest you just concentrate on getting on your players back when the chips are down and gloating that your Champion League material when you stuff Stoke at home. Thats how your percieved outside the bubble that is WHL.
How you ve managed to ruin so many careers is beyond belief- Bent/Bale/Bentley/Pav/Zokora/Hutton/Dos Santos and so on... West Ham have given more to the English game in the last decade (Rio/Lamps/Carrick/Cole/Johnson/Defoe and even Terry) than Spurs have given in their history, and whilst you continue to spend millions on players that dont quite make the grade and ignore your youngsters we'll continue to provide future England captains...step forward Mark Noble.

where do you get we are in debt from, confusing us with another team i think, if we all had to pay the same transfers and wages in the premier league, we would be a top attraction , for most footballers, because they know of us, because of what we have achieved fairly, the only reason we cant attract top players at the moment is because, we wont bankrupt our club by paying greedy players obscene transfers and wages, we operate at a profit every season, even though we spend quite a lot of money, all clubs should be made to run this way, because what is happening at the moment, is unfair to clubs which are run the right way, the system at the moment is instead of getting punished for running the peoples club shabbily, and getting the club in massive financial problems, they just go and find an oilman to bail them out, and then play football manager, and try to buy success, its not right and should be stopped.

No, all that it really proves that we have the consistency to STAY in the top division and while there play consistent football to keep us in the upper tier, not as you seem to agree, YO-YO in and out and then fail to get a better ratio of points. Arguably as this is based on a points per game, it is far harder to have played more games and be higher than a team that FAILED to compete in all the EPL seasons.
Not really my argument, just tired of this 'we are your rivals' - you're not and in my mind never have been. The arguments you guys always make just don't add up, either fanbase, trophies, registered support, financial stability, recent form etc etc.

I tell you, if these West Ham 'fan's' had brain cells they would be dangerous. I dont see why it is so hard to realise tha Spurs are a bigger club than you. We have a much bigger worldwide fanbase, this is based on the amount of human beings in the world support Tottenham, not on how many seats our home ground has, as someone wrote earlier.
Also,we are without question more successful than them, reflected not only in the amount of trophies we have accumulated over the years but also in our financial status, which is one of the storngest in the league. Thss has been achieved without the gravy train of the 'Champions' League or a competitive stadium. Leeds Utd we definitely are not, just like Tottenham YOU 'ain't'. AND NEVER WILL BE.
That said Wham had a good season last time around, massively over-achieving (although still without beating us), with a talented little Italian at the helm. Enjoy him next season as it may be his last before making the almost inevitable step up to Chelsea.

I think you're confused what is actually a fanbase. It is not a physical 'base' for your fans to perch on or the amount of seats in your stadium like you think. A fanbase consists of... wait for it... FANS! TA DA!!!! weird eh? You're welcome for showing you how the English language works.
