All Quiet on the Tottenham Front

Frazier Campbell has returned to Utd and the lad is already being linked with a move to Hull. Sunderland are looking at Darren Bent and there’s this rumour from a ‘you know who deep throat nudge nudge wink wink’ who is sharing info that out £14M Russian forward has handed in a transfer request. No doubt the tabloids will pick up on this and run with an exclusive in 3...2...1...

I'm bored.

I don’t know whether it’s the sudden realisation that we were never quite as interested in Gareth Barry as we were led to believe, which ironically included me taking Redknapp's comments at face value and then pretending not to take notice of some of the red top headlines who had us competing with City for his signature. A touch of hypocrisy. I preach that people shouldn't listen to the hype, yet part of me did and wanted to believe it. Just a little part. No, not that part. I'm talking percentages in the commodity of belief. About 2% if you're interested. It was a weak moment and I must repent. Barry has also repented it would seem. Bless him.

Regardless of all this it didn't quite get the juicies flowing. Not in a 'BRAZILAIN WONDERKID DIEGO TO SPURS' kinda way (remember that transfer saga and Pleat's antics?)

Nothing has got the juicies flowing since the season ended. But then it has only just ended. I guess for once we're not quite at the forefront of the tabloid backpages, with City and Chelsea dominating for the moment.

I don't mind us going about our business on the quiet, but this is Levy and it's Redknapp and I doubt it's going to be all hush hush. But then it's not a bad thing if all we get is dis-information and then suddenly from left-field we sign a left-winger, with no leaks pre-contract shared online or in the press. Out of the blue is the way to work it.

But then, that's no fun.

Maybe the people who follow ITK gossip have it right. It’s like crack. It’s addictive as hell and will probably destroy you in no time if you keep on taking it in. But boy, what a rush.

Damn it, I'm conflicted.

Currently, there are plenty of names mentioned but nothing overly attractive flattering its eyelids at Levy and his cheque book.

Even Corluka is whoring targets, citing Srna and Krancjar as players Harry is apparently keen on. Some fans are jumping on player quotes (‘I am available for a club who wishes to have me’) and hoping, wishing Spurs take note. Carvalho anyone?

2+2=4? Nope not really. It's more Fibonacci sequence. Ain't got a sodding clue.

Elsewhere, there is still no indication whether Mansion is staying on as our sponsor or what the new kit looks like (other than that white training shirt with the yellow strips).

It’s the calm before the storm and along with every other Spurs fan, I’m suffering withdrawal symptoms after a season where almost every second was lived out like it was a 1000 days.

I guess I need to look elsewhere for an alternative non-transfer related football fix until something breaks out on the Sky Sports ticker.

Whether I end up lurking in message boards waiting for the very gossip I lambast most days or just go cold turkey remains to be seen.

For the moment, I rest easy in the trenches. With a bottle of rum.

I know what you mean Spooky. On the one hand I want to avoid the bullshit doing the rounds in the spurs communities across the 'net and hope we sign players outside of the Sky Sports radar but part of me wants all the grapevine nonsense.

Teletext here I come!!

Dunne to Spurs is the latest one from the Mail.

Must be true.

Apparently that white thing is the new kit, the others are Blue/Yellow V and Yellow/Blue V, I guess the other two will have side bits like the white one, so expect those :( The yellow is very bright.

Keeper's shirts are supposed to be better, grey and green.

Next season is going to be tricky without the extra news/viewing fix from the UEFA and if Harry really only means three good players we may have a lot of waiting to do for real transfer info! We may have to satisfy ourself by watching players leave. Lets be honest if we got anything like £14 million for Pav, we should probably take it - for that money we could find someone who fills a specific need (height, hold up play etc). Didnt Dunne just have a total nightmare season? - based on his games against us and on MOTD he looked dire - cant see him improving the first team, so that story is hopefully b*lls. As regards Gareth its a shame but the time for him to join us would have been 2 or 3 years ago. If someone wants to pay 12 million plus a reputed 100k per week over five years for a (29?) year old, who although a very good all round player doesnt have a specific attribute (speed, goalscoring, ball winning), I think we were best to steer clear.

I'm actually very glad we are not in the Europa cup. Our aquad is not strong enough to compete in all competitions. Remember our great season under Jol where we lost CL on the last day against West Ham. That season we had no Europe and were beaten out of the domestic cups in the early rounds. I think we only played 41-42 matches in total. This ment that our group of players(less talent than we have today) were always 100% recovered for each match.

If we made the Europa Cup we would probably use our first team in the opening group, tiring them and risking injuries and when the real excitement start we would use our reserves...

It's funny how well we can delude ourselves in the face of dissapointment... "I'm glad we missed out on Europa" sounds suspiciously like "We'd have done an Everton had we made the CL, our squads not ready".

If we don't have a squad capable of Europa football, why are we glad not to have the "inconvenience" of it in order to "aim high" for that top 4 finish?

This time next year, you wait... "I'm glad we didn't make CL this year, we need to gain regular Europa football (through the league) before we can cope with it" ... or worse kncked out in the playoff rounds!

Me needs me fix, me wants it now. Russians retreating, nothing new there, the Dutch are on the move looking for another Anglo/Dutch relationship, i`m game if Huntelaar is? And the French part of north London are suspiciously quiet. Sneeky bastards, what are they up to?

COYS!

So its not just me then? Good to know, personally I am like a voyeur at the moment watching all the news and spurs forums but not adding any comments as yet, wathing as all the expert fans discuss the merits (if any) of the Daily Mails latest offering of "Cisse in the bag for 'Arry" or" Huddlestone signs for accrington stanley" or indeed watching with amusement as most discuss how we need to keep the core of the squad, only bring in 3 quality players and then in the next breath promptly sell 9 of the 1st teamers and buy the latest wonder kid from Falkirk or Aldershot to slot alongside the fantasy signngs of Robben and Huntellar and Messi and Kaka (cos they are actually boyhood fans) and have agreed to play for next to nothing for 5 years. hmmmmm Im watching but Im saying nothing lol Its gonna be a long long summer......but Im lucky cos my next love is cricket and I get to see England battered by the Aussies again and again and again damn COYS!!!! Buy somebody QUICK!!!!

For someone saying nothing, you're saying an awful lot.
