Is this really the new Spurs kit?

Dear God please let this be a mock-up. You'll remember a few weeks back a white and yellow-stripped shirt made an appearence on various message boards, where most dismissed it as a training top/blatant fake, but going on the PR blurb and the 'Glory comes in 3' tagline, I think it's time to put the kettle on and welcome in the colour yellow. And the red of Mansion also appears to be remaining with us for another season. So real or fake?

If the image linked above suddenly disappears then we'll take it as a real.

Unless of course, this is some sly clever dis-information perpetuated by the club who then go on to shock us all with an all-white home shirt.

Who am I kidding?

Is it too late for an intervention? I can be round to Daniel Levy's home within 30 minutes with a stern word or two.

Yellow is part of our history, but we are looking more like Leeds United with that on our white kit.

Glory comes in 3 colours? Well keep the colours separate then. Our home kit should be white and just white. Bad enough having Mansions read on it.

I like it. It will grow on you.

Does it really matter?

I really dont see the problem! If you dont like it wait til next seasons kits released!

Jun 13, 2009 at 2:38 PM | Unregistered CommenterGrovesy

Nobody ever likes the new kit. Happens every season. And the club will sale a bucket load. Does it matter? Probably not. But as for me I wont be spending £40 on that.

Does anyone here still buy home shirts? Grown men in replica kits. It's embarrassing. Don't like it by the way.

Jun 13, 2009 at 2:39 PM | Unregistered CommenterOllie

i saw the 3 kits on newsnow (epl talk ) and it looks like a snapshop of brochure for the 3 kits.
anyone have a download or link of the full brochure or are spurs trying to keep this away from the internet so they can try and shift last season's kits at half price??
they were quick enough to show off the new stadium plans on adobe reader..............

In comparison to what? World peace, the recession, poverty, the well being of Susan Boyle? No probably not.

Jun 13, 2009 at 2:44 PM | Registered Commenterspooky

it looks like the earlier kit was a fake or they leaked it for reactions from us lot - home kit slightly better...
i'll probably buy the yellow one if the is little sign of the 'v' over the shoulders...

Jun 13, 2009 at 2:44 PM | Unregistered Commenterm

of course grown men buy replica shirts, you obviously dont go to th lane on matchday do ya! it could be worse, it could look like Boltons new kit! http://www.burndenaces.co.uk/shop/product.php?id=1

How tight is security at ranch Levy?

Jun 13, 2009 at 2:52 PM | Unregistered Commenterwho framed ruel fox?

Meh. I'm not too fond of the all yellow or white kit but the navy could work. They're not too bad on their own but the red of the mansion logo ruins it. Perhaps the introduction of the yellow is to ease us into the logo of our potential new shirt/stadium sponsor http://www.emaar.com/index.aspx?page=emaar-international ?

Lets face it, as long as the displays do us proud, who cares what the shirts look like. Please no more 'yellow-bellied' performances.

It definitely of more importance than that hag SuBo. I'll give you that.

Jun 13, 2009 at 3:00 PM | Unregistered CommenterTMWNN

I think it's the real article. A full season to come up with this. I think the Puma senior designers are either ardent golfers or surfers. Got the kids to jot something down and ordered to print in September 08 :-)

I might be reading too much into this, but the V shape that the two yellow lines form, looks suspiciously like the cut of an Arabs cloak.

Yellow on white looks like vanilla ice cream with banana.

Jun 13, 2009 at 4:17 PM | Unregistered CommenterWest Stand Bagel

I see nothing wrong with the colours.Navy Blue shorts and a white top were the dress when I first watched Spurs in 1946.I am a traditionalist.

You don't think the yellow strips are unnecessary?

Jun 13, 2009 at 4:27 PM | Unregistered CommenterWest Stand Bagel

They're AWFUL.

The yellow stripes on the tops are hideous, and they're really cheap looking.

Christ, what a comedown after that lovely black kit of this year (that they only sold for half a season).

I'm desperately looking for something to like - the yellow trimming around the shorts is nice. That's about it. And it saves me money, I guess, as there's no way I'd part with cash for something so grotesque.

Jun 13, 2009 at 4:27 PM | Unregistered CommenterK-Bizzle

wtf??!? does the yellow strips give them any super power or supersonic speed??
scrap that shit, whoever designs that shit.

Jun 13, 2009 at 5:31 PM | Unregistered Commenterthe new kits stink

It looks like someone's tried way too hard to be innovative.
At least the stupid stripey socks have gone.
But do I not like that.

Jun 13, 2009 at 5:49 PM | Unregistered CommenterVic

It isn't bad but it isn't good either. Was it really necessary to change the kit again? Since we've had Puma as a kit maker we've only utilised had all-white once and if I am not mistaken it was for European competition. The yellow wasn't warranted on the home shirt, white would've been suffice.

Jun 13, 2009 at 7:16 PM | Unregistered CommenterEnorme Nuez

More concerned about the performances in the kits than the kits themselves. As long as we get a top 6 finish and a cup to show for a season's hard work, they can wear "Ronaldo" pink for all I care...well, maybe not pink.

Jun 13, 2009 at 9:50 PM | Unregistered CommenterAA

I am more concerned that this is our 4th kit change in 4 seasons, I have 2 young boys who have to have the new kit every season, I assumed that they were changing this years because of a change of sponser, but if that is the new kit it still has mansion on it, so how, during a recession, can they justify changing it again, is it the old 'lets see how much we can screw the fans' ploy.

Jun 14, 2009 at 9:03 AM | Unregistered CommenterGeorge

I was worried when i first saw the image floating around on the web... now that i see the players wearing it, it's not bad at all. I really think it will grow on us. The yellow adds a nice flare to the kit although I do prefer our white jerseys to stay plain.

COYS!!!!!!!!!!!

Jun 14, 2009 at 9:16 AM | Unregistered Commenterelwehbi

george, the tail wags the dog in your house. Tell the rugrats no occasionally, it might help them to grow up unspoilt. alternatively, buy yourself one of the new strips, yellow seems to be your colour.

@ ebenezer scrooge,

quite an apt name really, sorry but I don't spoil my kids, I look after them, and what the fuck has it got to do with you if my kids want the new strip when it comes out. I was stating that this is the 4th kit in 4 seasons. Oh and yellow.....my colour......funny twat.

Jun 14, 2009 at 3:20 PM | Unregistered CommenterGeorge

This looks like a mock up.....not mansion new sponsors?

well i for one like the all white kit or navy white.....and black away...was interesting....

the reason is branding with the best looking kits is essential for a sense of spurs cool etc

this is part of football culture and any mistakes by poor design is a negative.......

in the current recession fans need the escape and good feel factor etc

who wants to wear a crappy design and look naf ..........no one......

opinions will always differ but you still hear people liking the holsten years etc

as branding is key in modern football..........levy cant make a faux pas

in the direction the club is going..........glory spurs...glory shirts!

Get use to it folks. Its the real thing.

Jun 15, 2009 at 10:29 AM | Registered Commenterspooky

with all the effort to get the manager ,.team and stadium right

the kit is not right!

yellow on home kit??

an aston martin like a jaguar is a classic.........any changes and naf design never works!

bloody hell what was the decision process??

Jun 15, 2009 at 10:42 AM | Unregistered Commenterbilliospur

is this a fake photoshop job?

cant believe they would sanction this

Jun 15, 2009 at 11:03 AM | Unregistered Commenterbilliospur

Awful. To all say the design of a kit doesn't matter... then think again.

I will not be purchasing this kit IF it is the final design. I know for a fact many other Spurs supporters WON'T be spending their hard earned £40/£50 on this either. Merchandise accounts for a high percentage of revenue that goes towards running the club eg. wages, transfers, The Northumberland Project etc. so being able to sell a seasons kit in masses DOES matter.

From research, it seems as the though it is based on 2009/2010 Puma football team templates. If only they had kept to the retro, simple designs as they have done for the previous 2 seasons or based it on Italy's Confederations Cup kit; classic and timeless designs, then my cash would be heading towards the Spurs Shop.
