Wilson Palacios

In amongst all the bad publicity (King) and laughter (Arsenal) I just want to take a moment to say that my thoughts are with Wilson Palacios and his family.

When he found out in the early hours of the morning about the discovery of his brother he waited in the hotel lobby with his case packed for six hours until 7am because he didn't want to wake up Harry Redknapp. For someone to be thinking of others in such circumstances is amazing, selfless and dignified to the point that you almost can't believe it.

The club have confirmed he's on compassionate leave so we won't see him again until he returns for pre-season training.

He's been a fantastic signing for us, and can't wait to see him boss the midfield once more.

Puts all that other crap into perspective, doesn't it?

this had become my fav blog already as i've found myself in constant agreement with the views, opinions and assessments in the articles. This one again hits the nail on the head and everyone should pause, reflect and extend sympathy to the player and his family. nuff said (but once again, you've said it so very well)

He needs to get his loved ones away from there because they are all targets now.

Yeah, fantastic player with a fantastic future. Hope the lure of the so call top four doesn't change this superb individual.
Lets hope Tottenham can keep hold of him because hes the winner in midfield we have been lacking over the years, losing such a player would cause the same problems as when Mr Carrick left. Hope Wilson is well, everyone at the lane is thinking about him and his family!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Since Wilson is part of us from relegating battle team we became fighting for European spot.God bless him-one simple think-if we don't want him to leave and show our love-HOME GAME AGAINST MAN C-A MINUTE OF SILENCE FOR HIS BROTHER DEAD.I think that we prove how vital he is for us and how much we love him.Hope more people will stand behind my idea.Thank you

'wi(lson)nd of change' The only reason we would perform a minutes silence would be out of respect of the player, im not sure a minute silence should be used as a means as making him stay. Loyalty is dead in football, if the big four want someone they will get them no matter how hard you try to kick and scream - Carrick, Berbatov, Keane, Sheringham, Campbell etc etc

I've posted the idea that at the start of the match saturday a minutes chant of "wilson palacios" will take place and i have received strong backing, i hope you will join in too.

Mr Palacios

You are a credit to yourself and your family!

I was moved to tears when I heard of his humility in not wanting to trouble Harry even though he had heard such tragic news! I really hope Spurs let us do a 1 minute silence, I want him & his family to know that we think the world of him & therefore his family - he has worked so hard for us, we must show our upmost appreciation just to try & lift his spirits at least a little at this awful time...

YOU ARE A CREDIT AND I AM PROUD TO SAY YOUR A SPURS PLAYER

Wilson Palacios's humility and respect remind me so much of the reasons I started to to support Spurs as a 6 year old boy, 54 years ago. Most footballers today are nothing more than highly paid egotistical mercenaries, who don't give a flying f... about anything or anyone, which is the reason why we're all positively impressed that Wilson would wait 6 hours before explaining something so important to his immediate boss.

Sing his name throughout the game. Winning or losing. We'll need him next season, in or out of Europe. A real gent.

The world of football is a hedonistic, money driven sewer in which few have any morality, loyalty or integrity. Mr. Wilson Palacios is head and shoulders above most. A young man of immense dignity under extreme circumstances. His actions on the pitch and off, bring nothing but honour to our club. I am proud that he is a Spur and offer him and his family my condolences and continued support.

In an age of he likes of Ronaldo's, Drogba's and Cesc Fabregas it's refreshing to know there are some real personalities still playing the game. I'm genuinely proud of having someone like him in our team and I hope to be wearing his name on my shirt for many years to come.

My condolences to Wilson and his family. I know how hard it is to lose your brother as I have lost mine recently. Come on Spurs fans, let's chant his name with intensity... just like he always provides us with 200% intensity on the pitch. A true gentlemen that all Spurs fans are proud to have dressed in Lilywhite! I will boast to every opposing fan that we have him on our side and that there is no one else like him in wold football for their greedy poaching!

SPURS!!!!!

I don't often write on these walls normally cause by the time I get there everything worth saying has been said. I won't say much just that I was amazed and humbled when I heard how Wilson had dealt with his loss. And I've just been moved to tears reading everyone's reaction. Never been more proud to be a Spur !! Hope the Man City game we all do our bit and never stop chanting his name, and that maybe in some small way, if Wilson gets to hear about it, it'll provide some comfort.

Wilson, Spurs are proud of you though you joined us not too long ago.

We are all behind you for getting through such a hard time dealing loss of a beloved family member.
Hope your brother's passing will enable his strength to continuously grow inside you and make you
an even stronger character when you return to London. Condolences to your entire family.

May 12, 2009 at 5:26 PM | Unregistered Commenterbiiliospur

What an absolute gent. In times of trouble giants stand tall and he did. How humble such an act. You can imagine Harry's reaction. 'FFS son get in that taxi!' Then stand and reflect shaking his head for an hour!!!!!!
Some men are born great, others have greatness thrust upon them. Wilson is both. God bless big man for you are a credit to the sport and most of all your family. Carlsberg dont do big brothers but if they did............

Some men are born great, others have greatness thrust upon them, Wilson is both! He is an absolute credit to the sport and more importantly to his family. Although I do not support spurs i have seen his actions on the pitch and agree that he is a fantastic player. He really is a role model for the beautiful game and shows everyone what a great player really is. Condolences to his family and i hope Palicios will be playing for many years to come. I am truly sorry for his loss.

Just wanted to add my thoughts that pretty much echo those of all tha have posted before me on this subject. After learning of Wilson Palacios' humility and selflessness in waiting to a decent hour before disturbing Harry with his heartbreaking news I hae to say I am mightily impressed. As most have rightly commented, the world of football is sorely lacking in loyalty, humility, magnominity and sometimes common sense. You only have to look at Ledleys poor behaviour to get a taste of the lack of tactfulness, however out of character it was for him, which it is, nevertheless equally as disappointing.

I send my deepest condolences to Wilson and his family during this enormously difficult time and totally support the idea of singing Palacios' name during our final home game of the season.

At just wish that during the time of his drunken misdemeanor, Ledley would have thought to himself 'I wonder what Wilson is doing now?' maybe that would have helped put things into perspective for him.
