A game of Two Halves...

Not that many will want to remember Saturday's drab NLD, but at least one good thing came out of it, even though only a small minority might have picked up a copy or know of it's existence. For your pleasure, linked below (in PDF format) are both halves of the free newspaper handed out pre-match at the Emirates. Not too shabby a collection of writers involved in this wee project. Both parts are worth a butchers. Hopefully, we'll see a 'second issue' in the return game at the Lane.

Two Halves - Spurs

Two Halves - Goons

Regarding my contribution. Yes, the irony is not lost on me. I jinxed Ledley King.

Its a good read. However on the Ledley issue, he had been my favorite player for years, however with the passing of time and condition of those knees he cannot train to a standard required of a PL footballer. Sorry to say it really is time he retired, otherwise he may really damage himself. We need continuity in the back line, with the continual absence of LK and Woody we really are leaving ourselves open. Remember last year and all those clean sheets? Not the same is it. Ledley must be kept on as a coach, without those knees he would have been Englands number 1 for a decade. Thanks Ledley and COYS.

King is a brilliant brilliant player but I agree he is perhaps now pushing towards the end of his career. This is not based on what happened on Saturday but rather whats happened over the past 6 months - 1 year. He is making mistakes. He's still better than anything we have but for how long can we sustain him in the side without causing us consistency problems?

Perhaps he has been offered no new contract because he plans to retire at the end of the season?

If the club gets into europe this season or the next it has to remain there with the extra games
which impact the league games.......meaning

we have invested in in a good squad but.......we may end up with a problem not thought of
redknapp has to look at the long term as well as the short...........

contradictions!.........

we may stop start over the next few seasons which will frustrate.........

the squad rebuild is on......but the young talent has to establish as is arsenals......

or we pay silly money etc we dont have .......

tarabt and co ....de santos etc. and the rest.......have to be built up.........redknapps babes if u like

it looks lik Ledley king is probably on his last season ......an absolute shame for his gift like a good boxer

can only take so much work physically ......leave at the top......?

retain some dignity.....

An interesting read in parts, nice to find such open opinions, shame the predictions went wayward somewhat, and it would appear that you weren't alone in jinxing players.

Maybe next year it would be worth slating all of our lot as 'utter toss' only for them to prove us wrong once again (as they appear to be prone to doing).

My favourite part is the mug stain on page one though, thought there was something wrong with my monitor for a second.

Dace and Jep...I couldn't agree more.

It's the same old story Spurs have a leaky defence and it's been the same for years despite spending millions on new players. If you were to ask any football fan who is the best pairing for the central defence at Spurs I would expect most people to say King and Woodgate. Well unfortunately these two defenders hardly ever play together due to King's chronic knee problems and Woodgate being injury prone. So that means Spurs never have a consistent partnership at the back which is vital if you want success. We are forced to keep chopping and changing each game bringing in Dawson or Bassong which is clearly affecting the team. We have already conceded 17 goals. Harry surely has to bring at least one new centre back to resolve this problem. King could be offered a pay as you play contract but he can't even train with the team and this makes him susceptible to injuries. We also need to sort out the left-back cover. If Ekotto gets injured we only have Gareth Bale and to me he is not a left-back but more of a left-sided midfielder.

I also think Harry will try again to find a partner for Palacios in the middle of the park.

I really hope Harry sorts this out come January if the right signings can be made.

Loved your Andrey Arshavin piece there. The man really has dreams!
