I'm declaring war on Honduras

I'm shaking my fist oh so vigorously in their direction. Those pesky Central Americans.

Wilson Palacios has been ordered to remain in his home nation 'to party' after Honduras qualification to the World Cup finals for the first time since 1982. The country's ruling militia junta have ordered the players to attend a celebration in the capital. Wilson doesn't even drink. The poor lad. There's nothing worse being stuck at a party with a load of drunks, listening to their fables in the kitchen while you try to keep up with their slurs. But who is he to ignore the Presidents wish and delay his flight back by 24 hours?

So off to Pompey we go without our midfield enforcer. We probably would have had a jet-lagged version had he arrived back when originally expected anyway. Instead we need to look towards a possible Huddlestone/Jenas centre pairing with King back in defence, possibly with Woody back there too.

Not all is lost.

However if Kevin Prince-Boateng does manage to run rings around us, then expect a miltary coup closer to home. There is no excuse losing a midfield tussle to Portsmouth - with all due respect to them. And although I can't really do that much to Honduras themselves (other than possibly sending them a damning e-mail) I will take out my frustrations in other ways.

I know where Chirpy drinks his morning cup of coffee. I will have no qualms in kicking the git in the shins. Hard. What has this got to do with Wilson and his delayed return to Spurs? Nothing. But it will make me feel a whole heap better.

Those pesky bastards.........

Typical. But like you said he would have been jet-lagged/tired/off the pace anyway.

Morning Spooks.

Is this actually confirmed then? I would guess he's due back today/this evening? Would be stupid for us to play him even if he is back in the country.

Let me know what Starbuck Chirpy drinks at and I'll make sure I'm there to offer support.

Can we not complain about this to FIFA? He's under contract with us.

JJ and The Hudd? Fucking hell, we've lost this one guys. We've lost it!

Oct 16, 2009 at 8:21 AM | Unregistered CommenterI am Toasted

'Not all is lost.' I've got a feeling the midfield battle will be.

How many more times will it take you to realise that the Jenas and Huddlestone show is comedy at its worst?

I'd rather have a one legged jet lagged Palacios than either of those two.

Oct 16, 2009 at 8:23 AM | Unregistered CommenterTMWNN

I'm guessing Spooky doesn't really believe that 'not all is lost' statement himself. I know I don't.

Oct 16, 2009 at 8:26 AM | Unregistered CommenterOops

Its Pompey. Jenas and Tommy will be made to look world class.

Oct 16, 2009 at 8:29 AM | Unregistered CommenterTibbs

Again this prooves that after an International break there is absolutely no consideration to the players home club and its supporters - the same supporters who pay the players wages. None of this is Palacious fault just the normal Fifa disregard for clubs. If an International match gets seven days to prepare then shouldn't the same be afforded to the clubs that supply these players. However could we not have rearranged this match foe Sunday ?

We'll win. Have some faith.

Gio fit?

Oct 16, 2009 at 10:07 AM | Unregistered CommenterThe Machine

Wilson is under contract with us however I dont think Honduras care little about that!

Honduras is currently in a shit state and they have just managed a huge achievement in reaching thier (first?) world cup. I think as a nation they deserve to celebrate it regardless of whether its a PR stunt or not

Anyway he would probably be off the pace and the 'Wilsons off form' brigade would have a field day

Naughton and Bale wont start buddy.

Honduras population 8,000,000
WHL population 36,310

I don't fancy our chances of staging a successful military coup.

Never mind. Niko in the middle with Hudd, Bale on the left. There, I said it. Bale on the left. Time for him to properly crack his voodoo-hoodoo. Or we re-condition Jenas by drugging him and forcing him to watch Wilson videos, in A Clockwork Orange stylee.

If this is true/confirmed then it blows. Worst still I think WP is well on his way to becoming a major player and I doubt Levy has grown some big enough chestnuts to fend off any interest after he impresses at the world cup.

I fancy another 5-1 on Sturday!

Yes! Please keep Corluka on the bench. Granted he scored a great goal but more often than not he's a liability who just gets beat all afternoon.

Honduras have had their own coup recently, so I guess it pays not to upset the apple cart. I was actually in central america earlier on this year (specifically including Honduras and I can recommend Roatan as a holiday destination to the discerning travellers amongst you), and Wilson is worshiped like a god out there, so his presence (or lack of it) would be noted for sure.

Plus I don't think anyone can really question Wilson's commitment (other than tongue in cheek of course) given how he handled the situation with the tragedy of his brother.

As for the pompey game, well KPB has been putting in a few MOM performances since his move, and he has a lot to prove, but with O'hara not available to play I'm not sure who will do the mopping up. I'm hoping that James has one of his 'calamity' games as he has kept them in some game this season, and despite their current league poition they have some decent players. Lest we forget this time last year who was bottom of the league!

Oct 16, 2009 at 12:36 PM | Unregistered CommenterTricky

it s a signature Jenas game ... so let him play alongside the hudd , with the King and Woodgate our defence will be able to cope with the occasional counter attacks that are bound to happen with JJ en THUDD in midfield.

Bale on .. i d say let BAE do the job , he's not the best LB but IMO better then Bale

Granted,I have missed the september games so i m not really well placed to judge the current form of the players.

Oct 16, 2009 at 12:50 PM | Unregistered Commenterbelgian spur

The current Portsmouth team seems to lack confidence on and off the pitch but have some decent players , we have to watch out for Aruna Dindane , he 's not too shabby that one ...

Tnx WookieD. When the Modfather gets back, swop Thud for Mod and then start shining the premiership trophy. Wilson needs to be benched when he gets back until he raises his game against real opposition. He can fill in for Ledders when he gets crocked. By the way, every1 is invited to join my facebook group 'Tottenham Hotspur - South African Supporters' . Theres some fantastic pics as well.

Oct 16, 2009 at 2:40 PM | Unregistered CommenterJerard _ South Africa

The Honduras government is made of cow dung, bloody animals. The only good thing about the place is they do produce some top football players like our Wilson. You cant say the same about their politicians, all rubbish. They should go eat wilson's shit.

Oct 17, 2009 at 3:00 AM | Unregistered CommenterJuntashit

By good footballers you mean only Wilson. The only other people I've ever heard of the generals brother (not the deceased he has another) and that guy who supposedly got a trial on wilsons say. Whatever happened to him

Jarard no more team selection please. But hey I'm from the other colony go spurs
