Let's hug
Played well without being outstanding, could get away with using the old cliché 'we'll play worse and win this season', tactically sound in parts, made a couple of mistakes, one or two players not firing on all cylinders, Bale could have done with being further forward, Sigurdsson looked bright, high line worked, defensively sound, bossed shots on goal but lacked cutting edge, draw would have been fair result. Defoe did well, had more shots on goal than Newcastle did, although perhaps you could argue he could have done better. If we're ambitious we need to be world class in forward positions. Defoe and Kane, not enough for the long run. That sum it up?
It's okay to rationalise this defeat because we're still in transition from last season. One game, it's one game, and we are missing chess pieces. Can't quite play the game at full strength without them.
I don't want to delve too deep into what was basically our first ever competitive match with VB, practically akin to pre-season without the 'pre' and not quite enough seasoning to warrant bad taste. Would I have preferred to see us go there and smash 'em 3-0? Sure. Reality tends to dish out far harsher truths this early on.
Obvious we need to conclude our transfer business asap, two forwards, a winger and a Modric replacement. I'd add a sweeper goalkeeper to that list too but it almost feels like we're going to be disappointed in one area. Hope it's not detrimental to our season but can't judge until after window closes. Not enough creativity in the middle without an out and out playmaker. Also, unfortunate that two yellows for our holding mids limits the thunder they can clap. I've been off-line this weekend. Temps too hot to be sat in-front of pc so don't know enough about the Huddlestone tweet to comment.
Final word. Utterly no point in defending VB, because he's not guilty of doing anything wrong. My assumption is the media have kicked started their campaign against him, so apologies if I'm wide of the mark with that. I've not opened up a newspaper today. It's one game, good to have Spurs back and confident in coach that he will seek out and improve what needs fixing. Over to the chairman for the lending hand.
One certainty, seems nigh impossible for us to conclude all business earlier on in the summer. We would do well to appreciate all the variables at play. It's one thing wanting to be decisive (which is possible as seen early on in the window) it's another having to deal with the complexities of signing players where middle ground is only found during those last desperate hours. Although it does seem amazing how long we've gone without cementing a forward, on a permanent. But not so amazing when you consider our targets and strategy changes from one summer to the next. More so this summer with the change in head coach.
Something is about to give way. Hopefully an announcement or two on the official website.

Good performance. I expect Ade to be announced next week but can't imagine him being ready for west brom. Luka replacement will go down to the final day, as will any other players ( another striker, wing) we go in for
ANNOUNCED: First x
First!!!
ANNOUNCED: Second, damned Luke.
im worried! we need signings asap, id like to see ade and berba come back. would also like to see gio and hud given their chance
Answer to some of your points (in no particular order). Hudd must play next game. We should buy Adam Johnson (winger), Mourtinho (Modric replacement), Llorente AND Ade (strikers), Lloris (keeper). We should get rid of Bassong, Gomes, Jenas, Bentley and GDS. With fees from last years sales (still not spent) and players mentioned, Levy still in black. COYS
I was not happy with the players yesterday! I've made van der vaart and Lennon do an extra training session today! And I've made them watch videos on how to defend properly! I've fined them both too! I demand respect and I demand wins! I will make sure we beat west brom next week!...now I'm going to knock on Levi's door and ask him to get rid of luka as soon as so that I can buy some more players!
Think the display was ok but nothing more thought we looked average and played at to slow apace but again it is only one game so I will reserve judgement on AVB until a fair amount of games have been played. Don't think Livermore is the answer good squad player but Parker and Sandro will work just fine as the two holding mids. Really don't think we will see a new player maker this side of Christmas just a forward in before the window shuts. COYS keep the faith
until we find out the identity of our new striker its going to be difficult to know how we'll do this season, a rasiak / fraizer campbell signing and we'll struggle for top 6, with adebayor we might challenge top 4 a world class front man and who knows.
Not using Vertonghen who a few days earlier was the best player on the field (overshadowing Hazard and Schneider) and scoring also a goal was a very serious mistake by AVB who probably has costed our defeat.
Vertonghen was used in midfield in the Belgium-Holland game and he was involved in almost every defending and attacking action of his team.
To leave such a player in the bench in a theoretically difficult away game doesn't make sense.
He should be used at least after our equalizer to consolidate our midfield and support our defence.
Vert is a better, more experienced, more intelligent and more effective player with a stronger personality on the field than most of those used in the game by AVB.
i think vdv can replace modric in the deeper midfield role he plays there for holland and could do the job well for us, thus saving shed loads of money. god knows what he was thinking while sat on the bench watching livermore
I thought we played very well for an away game, controlled it and we were just unfortunate. Leaves me very positive for the season that we can play that well not at full strength.
Think AVB made the right call with Gallas for an away game in the prem, Vertonghan should be eased in with couple of home games to get up to pace of prem.
I loved the away kit..............better than the home IMO.
Was surprised to see Livermore start while Vert and Van de Vart were on bench. Hope this is not the way it will be with AVB.
Think we need Adebayor, Remy and Lloris in that order. Think we'll get Adebayor and that'll be it. Gallas did we'll y'day and as a newbie reckon Vert will be played at home initially and eased in. Also think at home only one of the DM's will play allowing both VDV and Siggy to create. Levy has needed to offload deadwood for over 4 seasons now so fingers crossed he gets rid of at least 5!
AVB has said he only wants 3 strikers and Kane will be one of them and I don't see him getting rid of Defoe, so expect 1 striker and 1 only, Ade. Gone quiet on the Lloris front, We will not get Mouthinio to replace Modders but we do need a creative MF with some quality in there. But please dont expect too much cause we no what Levy is like. Two must win games coming up and then we will be up and running.
Firstly this one game had more bells ringing in my head than a punch of Tyson in his pomp. Lets deal with Hudds because i was one of the fans who tweeted him he said i am sick not to be playing Devo but i will be watching the lads later and i hope they win. We asked him is he injured and was is ankle playing up again he tweeted NA i am fit. I then tweeted my version on my twitter page an put my own version of what i thought Abv was upto i thought he was going after Dembele and using Tom has the make weight because Jol rates Tom like i do the Daily scum swooped on this innocent tweets between Tom and his fans and stirred the trouble. What i want to no is Livermore better than Tom and if he is where is he better because he cant pass does the safe thing and gets shut hardley moves forward shoots rarley and is clunsy in the tackle apart from that he is okay for the last 20 mins. Hudds 6ft 3 i will bet my house during that corner the ball would not have met Walkers head but Toms also we could have sent Bale away Defoe would have had through balls to run on to Lennon would have bean away behind defences and free kicks would have some zip and accuracy Avb tactical my arse he watched Walker run out of steam and left Lennon and Vaart to do his tackling why not bring Vertonghan on and move Kaboul in Walkers position and Newcastle Ba would not have a free shot at the wandering Frideeg that one game where a very good team did there best has rocked my confidants Avb will ruin our great attacking team with negative hard working gaunt looking robots and Hudds is not a skeleton figure like Fellani and Jol is waiting to get the best Quarter back in football for years who is deemed to slow in a new killer drug induced work rate game full of shock results especially after half time .
Hudd's just not mobile enough. Yes he can pass a ball but he can't tackle and he can't head a ball. Swap for Dembele yes any time soon as far as I'm concerned. Dembele can do everything that Huddlestone can't.
...yes, we need to remain positive. However, we also need to take note of some worrying signs at this early stage i.e. Livermore playing ahead of Huddlestone, VDV and Jan Vertonghen (Hudd not even on the bench), the presence of Jenas on the bench (quite troubling...trust me, JJ is an absolute waste of space. No team in the prem wants him), and most importantly, the persistence with 41yr old Friedel in a sweeping goalkeeper role. Friedel is getting so much of the ball and looking clumsier with every touch. The old adage "you can't teach an old dog new tricks" applies here.
Gareth Bale may also need to take a look at videos of his best performances to refresh his mind on how he made his name. Which position is he actually playing nowadays?
The next game is going to be crucial...
Regarding signings, Daniel Levy has no option but to start doing his work immediately. Its obvious that he has assigned himself a bigger role than he needs to and its also obvious that he is way out of his depth in that department. He is basically a glorified accountant doing the role of a Sporting Director. One look at the acquisitions that Laudrup has managed to acquire for - e.g. Michu for 2million pounds...or indeed the Newcastle purchases, and you will realize that we need a Director of Football ASAP. We used to sign the likes of Aaron Lennon for peanuts! What happened? Instead we are still f*cking about with the likes of Donkey JJ! With a talented Director of Football and a proper scouting network, we won't require to compete with billionaire backed clubs for the likes of Llorente or Damiao...and we would already have realized that we don't need to be held to ransom over the likes of Adebayor either. Wake up Levy! The obsession with the last minute/deadline day nonsense is actually the main illustration of Levy's incompetence as a "Director of Football". We need his negotiation acumen, but he needs to be guided on signings by a more able person.
On the basis that the Prem season is 38 games - not 35 or 36 - can only assume that Dan Levy (and some supporters) are delusional in persisting with the belief that a summer spent signing 2 new players (one of whom doesn't even make the starting line-up on day 1); having a first team squad with 1 recognised striker; no playmaker; and an old keeper is somehow OK for a team looking for a top-4 finish.
To believe that the season doesn't really start until Sep 1 is barking mad. Does Levy think Ferguson - or even Wenger for that matter - would be OK in the same situation ? Though I'm baffled by AVB's starting line-up, he deserves being given a chance with a full squad before any verdicts. But it's hardly the best start (again) if our chairman sticks with his love of the deal rather than getting the players that he KNOWS are needed not 3 or 4 games in - but by the time the players report back for pre-season training.
A loss - unlucky or otherwise as yesterday was - is still a loss.
I've often thought Hudd is faster than he looks. If he has the time, maybe AVB should go back and look at some tapes. It's not enough to watch Hudd - or anyone - in a few practice scrimmages and then make a decision. Unless you think you are smarter than you really are. I might say the same about Gio,who shone like a star for Mexico but is treated like a second rate player at WHL, first by Harry and now by AVB?
Guys no matter how you look at yesterdays performance we looked nothing more than average. Daniel Levy you must spend the Modric money asap. Newcastles Ben Arfa is a like for like replacement in the making.
Everyone should look at this link: http://www.transferleague.co.uk/premiership-transfers/tottenham-hotspur-transfers.html
Last year we were up £27million
This year we are down £2.5m
so were is the missing £24.5million and modric monies £35million
£59.5 million Mr levy get them short fingers into those deep pockets or it's bottom half/ championship for us.
Get in Ade, Ben arfa, Dembele & Cesar to at least give us a fighting chance this season.
Dump jenas, gds, bentley & gomes off the wage bill too!!!!!!!!
COYS
The omission of Vert and Hudd: AVB was smart to put Gallas and Kaboul in away to Toon for obvious reasons. Those two players are well acquainted with Newcastle and fully fit and rested. Vert will get plenty of game time. And to me, right now, Dawson is the 4th CB behind those 3 guys. Huddlestone on the other hand has played so little that not only must he be eased back into the side, he isn't even an AVB type player (Gio to me is much more of an AVB-type player). In my opinion Jenas would have come into the game yesterday only if we were winning and to add defensive cover. I love Hudd but I'm not sure how he is going to fit into the squad. Anyone who thinks he should have started yesterday is completely out of their minds against a full strength Newcastle, and what role he would have played coming off the bench when we have VDV sitting there too is very murky. Hudd just needs to put his head down and train hard. He will get some games. He's been out for so long that he couldn't possibly expect to come straight into the side and displace someone who helped us win 4th last year
Without wishing to be a stirrer, our problems are much deeper than one game. The club is being touted for being sold and we have a ground development project which it cannot afford. Levy's primary responsibilities are these - not sanctioning the top quality purchases we so desperately need. Go back to jan 12 - who sanctioned the bargain basement buys of Saha and Nelsen when we cried out for a quality signing? Five months on they' were gone. Where is our strength in depth? Every selling club knows our transfer strategy and simply hold us to ransom. How many recent targets have slipped by us whilst the Ar@@, Liverpool Newcastle etc have made a series of moves. The missing cash from sales are being put aside for the Sale, and Levy hopes we can somehow blag a top 4 slot on a relative shoestring. Give AVB a chance - victory over the Baggies will buy time - but he is not the cause of the current worries.
COYS.
Every match report I read on pre-season that mentioned Hudd said how off the pace he looked. He has been seriously injured for a long time - he is not the same player again - YET. People seem to be looking for a reason to jump on AVBs back. Selection was fine. As for the "VdV plays deeper for Holland" argument, yeah, he does - and its usually a disaster because he has no tactical discipline. We will not see him or sigurdsson on the pitch at the same time often. Also- if he couldn't play 60 minutes last year, how is he going to play in a pressing system? IMO we wanted to sell, and that is why we bought sigi.
We were beaten by a side with a decent striker (who scored) and a playmaker (who won & scored a pen).
Message received loud and clear Mr Levy?
We moved the ball far too slowly through the middle.
For all that,if I were a geordie I would be a bit embarrassed by the win yesterday.
Bottom line we allowed an average side who are one of our rivals in our `mini league` 3 points on the board, without them showing any quality whatsoever.
On the bright side, at least Liverpool remain even more shite than us!
I think that on the whole Spurs did very well at Newcastle and were unlucky to win. Squad selection was very cautious and I approve. Winning 3 points away at SJP was always a big ask, so AVB did the smart thing and played both Sandro and Livermore to cripple the Toon attack. It worked...most of the time. Gallas and Kaboom was smart too given the hostile reception we always get up there. No need to rattle Vert just yet. It was a sound, cautious approach to a first game away at a tough location. I can't fault AVB for that and, as I said earlier, we were unlucky not to win or at least steal a point. Expectations are always high at the start of the season, but we shouldn't be unrealistic about the outcome.
Next...I think anyone who thinks we are going to get anybody other than Adebayor this season is smoking way too much Crack! He wants to come and now that we've flogged Ratboy we can afford him. Levy is not going to spend more than he needs to, because he has never broken the bank before and ain't going to do it now. IMO we will do very well with just that addition. Sure, it'd be nice to have Moutinho or Llorente or Damiao, but that isn't going to happen and deep-down we all know this to be true. There is always the possibility of a 'Fire-Sale Rafa' on closing day, but barring that I think the squad is set. And it is a very good squad still and will be better with Ade up front backed by Defoe.
So, next week I'm picking Ade up front with Bale/Lennon/VDV behind him. I think AVB does the smart thing at home and unleashes the THudd missile instead of Livermore with Sandro in front of a back four that includes Vertonghen/Kaboom/Benny/Walker. Brad is still the man between the pipes. With a raucus home crowd we will smother West Brom's attack and send them packing with 3 or 4 goals in the plus column.
Remember folks...you heard it here first!

Daniel Levy said that we wouldn't sell our best players and we would strengthen. We'll know in 11 days whether he keeps his word or he's bullshitting us. The way the team played yesterday, pressurising Newcastle in midfield was fantastic to watch. The Newcastle players were losing possession all over the place with the highline pressure. If we get the right players in (a goalie who can sweep is vital) we will be okay. I am warming nicely to this AVB style of coaching and I was against hiring him in front of Moyes. He could be a very successful manager for us.
JC, kindly send me a link to just one of those pre-season match reports that said Capt. Hudd looked off the pace.
at the beginning of last year redknapp told man city 'give us adebayor and we'll play kranjcar centre mid against you'
Levy is a Suit, Bean Counter, Business man. Spurs are an ENIC investment. Purchased to make money for the share holders. DL will always ensure that at the end of every financial year Spurs bottom line is boldly written in black. He knows that Owners come and go, Managers come and go, players come and go. The only thing that never goes is the supporters. As long as WHL is sold out every game then DL is happy. He will not put up large amounts of money to bring in money hungry, ego riddled players just to please us. We will get what he gives us. He knows we wont go away. As long as we are in the top 5-6 then DL is happy. If we look to be in jeopardy he sacks the manager (Ramos). If he wanted to take the risk of challenging for the PL title then the deals would have been done and dusted by now. AVB would have had 3/4 weeks to work with his new squad. It didn't happen. Modric saga continues. Ade or another striker is not in place. Don't hold your breath for mind boggling additions to the squad. Watch the business pages to see Spurs being sold. Incidentally I though we were worth a points at SJP. Must admit Ba's goal was a beauty.
I have to assume that both the Modric and Adebayor transfers will be last day events. Man City feel they are selling him on the cheap and have no impetus to act until they have no choice, they are resigned to the fact that most likely Spurs will be the best offer but why not wait to see if more can be extracted at the deadline with another team entering the bidding. Spurs are facing the same situation with Modric except they need the Modric money to improve the team and Levy is willing to suffer short-term in order to get the extra cash in.
As for our performance, it was good enough but not great. But without, Parker, Modric, Adebayor in the side, its hardly the best we have on offer as far as what was on the team sheet. I thought Siggy looked good but Van Der Vaart opened them up with some good passing when he came on. I would have liked to see Vertoghen in midfield in the later stages as Sandro and Livermore on yellows had me on edge all game.
I thought we pressed them all over the pitch and hardly conceded any chances. Bottom line is Demba Ba scored a peach and Ben Arfa was class. We deserved better on overall performance but without the cutting edge up front, we will continue to struggle as we have in the past 2-3 years.
I'd love to see Berbatov back but he is WAY too lazy to play in a side that pressures the ball all over the pitch like we did on Saturday. We need Adebayor desperately, everything else can wait until January or next year (Mountinho, Lloris, DiMaio, Llorente).
We looked like a team that was lacking confidence but had the pieces to be very very good. I guess that is all AVB could ask for. If we don't get a striker in, all bets are off and we're fcked.
Victor Meldrew - yes, agree with you. But if DL was the shrewd businessman he portrays, wouldn't the outlay necessary to bring in the 3-4 players (2 strikers, MF, keeper) we need for a top-4 finish pay dividends in the shape of CL football; increased "brand awareness" of THFC and thus increasing the club's value etc be worth it ?
And I just don't believe AVB would've come here if he'd been told there wasn't a pot of money for him to play with.
Patience Guys !
First game lost, - however watching, - it was positive to see the pressure applied, - had we scored on the numereous chances in first half, - we could very well have taken a point. Now when a new manager has come in, - I would really hope that ALL of us can give him time to implement his system and way of playing, - But please do understand that this is not going to happen over night! I will withhold any judgement on Levy, until the transfer window has shut down.
first half performance was a decent effort, went of the boil a bit second half, silly defensive error for the first goal.Sigggurdson will have better matches.Felt we looked well organised and just lacked cutting edge up front. We have known since May we needed a striker and although we have to be patient (we keep being told) the season has started and he/they are still not on board.Thought a draw would have been a fair result overall but we dust ourselves down and go again Saturday. No need to press panic button, but notice the Sun has started the AVB out campaign already "continuing on the disasterous reign at Chelsea" Really?
To OldSpur..............I agree with you we need new players. Top quality players have a top quality price tag attached and require the same degree of wages that we simply can't afford. I should think that AVB was promised the Modric fee. If he gets it I only hope that what we get is not a panic buy. I am probably being a bit harsh on DL as he is only working within the boundaries not of his making. Before the advent of the PL every club had a chance of becoming No.1. The PL ensured that clubs with bigger grounds had the lions share of the money. With the advent of mega rich foreigners the only way you can win the PL is buy the trophy. I grew up around WHL when Ramsey and Bill Nick were still playing. I do not believe that the premier league has benefited football. Sure the standard has improved, but the national team has declined. And most disappointing of all is that we know, before the season has started, that the winner will come from only one of three teams. We can only hope that the financial fair play regulations will have sharp and savage teeth. Lets return to the level playing field. You never know maybe Huddersfield will win three in a row again.
Where to begin! There has'nt been something in the majority of the previous comments that I have not agreed with. All valid!
So......... AVB's decision not to start Hudd and Vert, Wise! Agree with the Levy comments regarding splashing the cash. Ade the
only likely acquisition before the end of August but disagree this is the right policy ! The Modric money should have nothing
to do with us purchasing a number 9 and Keeper! The Modric money should simply be used to replace our play maker. Then an
additional 35 mill+ spent on a top class keeper and 9 plus Ade! An cull the squad a bit more to help with the wages. Speculate to accummulate and all that! A top class GK and N0:9 along with Ade added to our very talented squad could/would be the difference from sustaining CL football or not! An therefore become cheap purchases!
As for now, I,d like to see a back 5 with 1 holding Mfd. You can still play the high line and pressing game that AVB and I like.
Walker an Beni push and squeeze. 3 CB's, Kaboul, Gallas, Vert are a trio capable and well balanced to deal with this formation.
Sandro protecting and winning ball to fed a slightly deeper VDV. Bale playing a more advanced role and more through the middle,
linking with Defoe and the width coming from Lennon and a hard working, up and down Beni. If chasing the game late on!
Go flat back 4. Siggi for a CB or Sandro and Vert in front of the back 4! Siggi plays the Bale role now and Bale pushes up along
side Defoe! For Now!!!
COYS!!!
Could be worse.... Could be Liverpool, having again spent a fair some of money only to get tonked by WBA!
Of course, there's also the flip side that our next game is at home to WBA and we may possibly have spent some money by then.
Personally I thought we looked good without being particularly outstanding. We had the better chances and just didn't take them, then got done by a wonder strike and some clumsy defending by 2 midfielders.
It's not like we were all at sea at the back, letting their players run through the middle.
Plenty to look forward to this season!
AVB is quoted as saying that we do not need the money from the Modric sale before we can buy players. If true, and it should be, it would seem that the amount of that money is preventing us from making bids for serious quality players that are likely to be accepted.
In one way I can agree that it is a waste of time spending over-the-top sums on average players...Llorente is one that comes to mind...a good player but not a great one. Similarly, being linked with Chamakh smacks of desperation rather than a plan.
I agree with those who say Levy is running a business and not a football club otherwise we would not be in this perennial state of not knowing what our team will be until after the season has started.
I thought we played well as a team at Newcastle and were unlucky to lose but equally there was no sign that we will be able to really compete for top 4 and certainly not with that team. In many ways it was shades of the end of last season, played well but lost.
Maybe Levy will surprise us before the window closes but I have finally reconciled myself to the fact that with Levy in charge we will always be nearly-men at best.
Like AVB said in the press he is going to implement his tactical changes progressively and I think the pressing and the high line worked quite well. We could have easily nicked a point in SJP and it was a bit of naivety that gave it away. Walker should have headed the ball for a corner and VDV and Lennon couldnt have offered Ben Arfa a leg to step over in the box. Like in last season the clinical finishing is still missing, Defoe hit the post, Sig missed a golden chance in front of the keeper and Bale should have scored the free header. A stronger although fast striker like Ade in front is needed, but if I was AVB I would put the lads to train finishing every day! Apart from the signings mentioned in previous comments, Spurs would also do well if the coach could bring a rutheless winning mentality to the squad, to finish the oponents when the chances are there and close down to hold a result at any cost. This may be even more important than signings. It was great to see Lennon back fit and when he and Bale are on their day they can stretch any team open. I am looking forward for a couple of wins in the apparently easier fixtures comming up. COYS
So we played reasonablly well?! Really?
I'm a reasonablly good boxer, especially when I climb into the ring with Sid. Sid's got OCD and spends considerable time trying to keep his gloves clean by constantly wiping then on his shorts!
Maybe Newcastle were the reason we looked 'reasonablly good'? Mark my words, WestBrom aint going to play OCD football - Pardew ain't silly, he knows we're cutting our teeth, so rather than ATTACK, he choose to sit back on our high line and catch us sleeping, or flicking through the manual. West Brom will just rock up and go for the jugular, they're going to attack and swarm all over us. Newcastle did not play well and yet they sit 3pts above us. nice.
And considering Jenas is back in the squad, I think he needs a song especially for him,
'He stays on the coach, he stays on the coach, the one they call Jenas, he stays on the coach'
Ps. A serious question to ponder. Defoe. Am I the only one who was hoping he'd move on this window?? I really don't get it, it's like Alice in wonderland - not the porn version. I've also noticed a lot of posts referring to Adeabayor. How long before he's match fit? 5 games. Let's hope Defoe doesn't fall down any rabbit holes!
Wouldnt this just all be much more fun if we relax and just enjoy the season whatever happens. Even tho we lost I still really enjoyed the first weekends football, some great games. We looked very decent, I quite like AVB already.
We were decidedly undercooked and we got nothing from the game. That's the bottom line. Those supporters treating this as if the result doesn't matter had better think again. How about if we lose the next one? Are we so quickly settling for mediocrity again? I heard AVB say on the box something like "it shows we're on the right track". Erm, the right track to where? He better not say this again if we lose. Not good enough.
AVB out!!!
Yidal presented in what I would call a relaxed manner. He was dressed in a yellow caftan, and was clutching an assortment of flowers, one of which was placed behind his left ear. I would describe his mood as cheerful. I noticed that yidal attended today's session wearing one flip flop. Later in the session I approached this anomaly by asking yidal, who was now pearched on the window seal, how he lost his flip flop. Yidal appeared confused at this point, and assured me that he had lost nothing. At which point I challenged him and pointed to his bare, and somewhat grubby foot. Yidal smiled and swayed from side to side and assured me once again that he had not lost a flip flop, he'd found one.
It is my understanding that yidal is suffering from either severe post dramatic yid disorder, or yid burn out syndrome. I am confident that if yidal agrees to intensive treatment his condition will greatly improve.
We can't 'just enjoy' losing, finishing 7th, losing Bale to the WHL rat virus, staying in the premiership.
Been there, done that, burnt the tee shirt.
Chill Wiskers. Too soon to abandon HMS LevyB, brother!
Good on yer, Yidal. I too loved all but 2 minutes of the contest.
Shades firmly in place and drink in hand...bring it in you Lilywhites!
Journal entry:
My worst fears have been realised, the Mumbai Sweet Water phenomenon is upon us...God save us all.
It is over 70 days since the last season ended. Still no world class mid or strikers signed. We can AVB all day long, systematically check this, analyse that and so forth. No matter, AVBing gets us nowhere unless we have some world class players.
None in, none due in. What is the point of Levy or AVB at this stage? Do we wait for incremental success every year hoping for a little improvement year after year? If yes, it is a failing approach as it presumes that none of our rivals will build at either the same pace or faster.
Are we really willing to persist with this approach that fails to account for our rivals growth? It seems that in failing to sign world class players to close the gap between us and the other top clubs it would seem that Levy is willing to do so.
I suggest it is failing. What is Levy waiting for? The rest of our competition to fall off a cliff? Even if they do, is he presuming no others will arrive to take their place? PSG and CIteh are recent additions, who knows who will be next ones from the billionairess tea tray?
So, we can be Glory Glory all we want but until Levy is ousted or forced to change tack we will be Almost Almost Tottenham ad infinitum.
This club is not a serious one. A serious club would have sorted the Ade situation out and quickly given him a bonus so he would give up the fight with Citeh.
Look at what Chelsea did to get Hazard, gave him a big signing bonus and signed his little brother on. Levy would never do that, even. if we were CL champions. Levy would have haggled for weeks over the value of the lesser Hazard and lost the deal over paying the boy 15k or 20k/week.
And why did we really sign Siggy? We all know Vdv is better behind the striker(s). We only ought Siggy because he could possibly make us a cool 10 mill profit in 2/3 yrs when we sell him on to a bigger club.
