Look on the bright side...

We're still 3rd even off the back of losing three games on the trot.

We're still in the FA Cup.

If the worst happens, the worst might be 4th spot. Was that the target at the start of the season? What's the target now? It's still 3rd.

The worst hasn't actually happened yet, has it? So keep wearing your heart on your sleeve and look forward to the next game.

As 'poor' as we've been playing we're still creating chances in front of goal. One goal, one win will flip confidence around.

At the end of the day people, technically speaking, 1 point is still a gap.

Smile, don't take life too seriously and love Tottenham.

Tottenham don't know what's hit them..... well i can tell you, it's Theo Walcott!! PMSL!! Poor ol' Twitchy!!

Right on Spooky, Im with you. DB0407 - where are you in the league?

Mar 13, 2012 at 10:56 AM | Unregistered Commenterdavedajew

There are definitely two perspectives:
a) Top 4 is a CL spot (or a qualifier at least).
b) We were racing ahead of a poor one-man Arsenal side who have now blasted their way back.

I guess it's a glass half-full or half-empty scenario really.
The problem now is that Chelsea could overhaul us in the next 2 weekends. If that happens then this season could rapidly go from being one of the best league seasons to one of the worst.

I'm going with glass half-full - we're still in a CL position....... just about...
Could be worse, could be the bin-dippers with a manager who thinks a good kit deal is more important than a good league position.

Mar 13, 2012 at 10:57 AM | Unregistered CommenterWalkerboy

Oh and it's all about self-belief.
The Gooners have found a new never-say-die attitude that has seen them win 4 straight games that they went behind in.
They can now go into any game believing that they will win.
In the meantime, we've found a "sod it" attitude that's seen us not give a crap when we've gone behind, or even taken the lead.
We've blown a 2 goal lead against our rivals, dominated United and lost and made a meal of it at Goodison..... morale must be low in the squad.

I just can't see Harry throwing teacups and ranting at half-time or after a game........ He'll just put an arm around Adebayor and tell him he's doing well, despite the fact he's playing crap.

Mar 13, 2012 at 11:00 AM | Unregistered CommenterWalkerboy

to be fair, up until the @rse game it had been looking like the rest of the league season could become a bit boring; no realistic chance of 1st/2nd and a big gap to @srse & chavs - both sh1t and low on confidence. at least there's some excitement added to the run-in now, let's hope this is all false hope for that lot and we'll just kick-on, maintain 3rd place and finish with the FA cup win.

Mar 13, 2012 at 11:05 AM | Unregistered Commenterjan

...Let's not go overboard here. Man U game - we played well. Man C game we played well. Arsenal game, we started well...but wrong formation and a collapse lost it. Everton game, we had formation wrong, but dominated most of game - lost by one defensive lapse. We have only lost to top 2 twice, and Stoke, Everton, Arsenal away. We have merely lost 7 of our hardest games. If they occurred earlier on in the season, we may have lost those back then - they have merely come in sequence. Arsenal and Chelsea must play each other and BOTH must play Man City. The worry is that we are losing balance - due to Lennon's injury, Saha's acquisition making 4-4-2 more attractive, and VDV no longer scoring goals.

Adabarndoor is doing what he always does, having the second half of the season off, thats why city are paying him to play for you. wheeler dealer Arry wont buy him, he aint got the money, Arry belongs down the lane, petticoat lane that is. Even England are having second thoughts, so you could be unlucky and keep him. This is your best team in twenty years, your friends down the road's worst and they are one point behind and rising, what does that tell you. Arry has his millions, his posh house, millionare son Pop star daughter in law, Gkids he loves, what the hell does he care. Sorry fella's but its true

Mar 13, 2012 at 11:18 AM | Unregistered CommenterDandan

Bring it on, believe it or not I'm probably in the minority of people who STILL believe in this team.

Our bad run came at the wrong time but I'd rather our bad run comes now rather than April/May. At least we still have some focus and know what we need to do until the end of the season rather than teams putting pressure on us in April/May.

We've been in this position before when the pressure's been on and haven't folded, we CAN do it again.

We've learnt that 3 weeks is a long time in football, if 3 weeks is a long time then 2 months is an eternity, plenty of football to be played.

"This is your best team in twenty years, your friends down the road's worst and they are one point behind and rising, what does that tell you. "

It tells you that they have a harder run in, moron.

have you never heard of momentum?
while hr is on the fence the players have none
confidence falling with every defeat
the man who got them believing and playing sooooo well is gonna leave them
so cross fingers time and pray for victory
we need a bit of luck right now

For years and years my Arsenal friends have been telling me how they are so superior that they don't even think about Tottenham, that United are thier rivals because Arsenal are such a big club they should be winning the leauge (or at least challaging for it) every year as well as all the cups (except the Micky Mouse cup which was just a run around for thier glittering collection of soon to be world beating youth). Spurs were just seen as nothing little club living in the past that was funny to take 6 points off of each season, and that we were so many light years behind them there would never be a time when we could even think of competing with them on any level and were no threat at all. Know we all know its most unlike Arsenal fans to be arrogant but to be fair in the 02/03 season as a random example (there are so many to choose from) it was hard to argue. The domance of the sky 4 did for a long time seem unbreakable (in no small part down to the huge gulf in income it provided for them each year).
Farst forward to the last year or so and all my Arsenal friends have been surprisingly quiet, United its seems were no longer thier rivals and most of the talk from them for the last year has been about Wenger losing his touch (children the world over breath a hugh sigh of relief) and the club going backwards. Untill the last few weeks that is, now in Wenger they trust again and have all come out the woodwork to remind everyone that they are the mighty superior Arsenal. The thing is the mighty superior Arsenal, and thier now reemerged and not at all arrogant fans, are full of a misguided joy because they might......over take Spurs in the league. How times have changed, having to give up thier rivalry with United now that competing for silverware is a memory, having to take the Micky Mouse cup seriously (although not actually managing to win it of course) as thier glittering youth either "matured" into average players or left and fans living off passed glories.
We have reminded them that we are thier rivals and for all the talk of light years behind we are now a threat to them, they were too arrogant and blind to the idea that we were making progress towards competing with them over the last 4/5 years and now are, we dragged ourselves up to a level playing field with them they hate it and dont know how to handle it, hence all the talk about us from them. All that worst Arsenal team for years best Spurs team for years and we gonna over take you talk just proves to me that we have levelled the playing field and that best/worst for years means nothing, the past is the past, in the present we are competing and will continue to. Even if we do lose 3rd our progress cant be doubted and we should take Arsenal fans celebrating finishing above us as not only a sign of our progresion but of thier desperation. Ten games is 30 points so still a long way to go but 3rd is in our hands and more than achivable, as is an F.A cup win. If I was told at the begining of the season that would be the case in mid march I would of been over the moon.

Mar 13, 2012 at 12:54 PM | Unregistered CommenterJaydon

Jaydon, I was enjoying your well-argued post, until the your obnoxious comment about children, In my mind such baseless snide remarks remove any credibility your opinion might have held

Mar 13, 2012 at 1:03 PM | Unregistered CommenterDandan

Spot on Jaydon. No-one would have rejected this position at the start of the season. And we have the same players who went on the earlier winning streak. Just need Harry to get a grip. Can't imagine anyone chanting "we want you to stay" any more.

Mar 13, 2012 at 1:11 PM | Unregistered CommenterAndre5

Let me reiterate my earlier quote: spuds will never finish above arsenal, never! And i also said they will lose against arsenal, manure utd, everton and chelski. Remaining only chelski to be hundred per cent spot on. Hey spooky, you can go on and continue to give false hope to blind spuds fans, but one thing is clear, very soon they will see you for what you really are-a poor blogger and analyst! You have always failed to decipher the writings on the wall because of your unbridled, unreasonable and over the top analysis when it comes to spuds. I'm not trying to gloat about your fall from grace, (though I'm euphoric as every gooner fan is) but your sheer audacity and confidence in spuds ability made me to wish for your implosion which is happening now!
Now the season that promised so much is in grave danger of achieving nothing. That would be catastrophic! Please gunner fans remember to mind the gap which gap?

Mar 13, 2012 at 1:31 PM | Unregistered CommenterAno

Dandan, im glad you enjoyed my rant but Im not sorry I offended you as it was a throw away joke (humor is subjective) and not a statement of fact (allegedly) ;-)
If your mind wants to remove any credibility from my opnion due to that then that is fine.

Mar 13, 2012 at 1:32 PM | Unregistered CommenterJaydon

to all gooners, i never envy you for the following reasons:

i can for one open my mouth without dribbling.
i can construct FULL sentances.
i don't have AIDS in my dna.
people like me, i have freinds, i don't know a gooner with mates (does anyone else)?

keep the faith yids, their little revival will come to an end. i look at it like this, without rvp, they are fucked!

one injury away from being literally fucked. be interesting to see actually where they would be this season without his goals....

i liken their situation to ours (though maybe not quite as dire) as when c***bell was in his last year at spurs. only one decent player, and he'll get the hump and jump. all this false belief will make it even sweeter when a***nal football club dies.

Mar 13, 2012 at 1:34 PM | Unregistered CommenterMr Vexed

Sorry, but we've been fucking terrible. I've lost all hope of being 3rd or even 4th, Arsenal and Chelsea are just better than us, it's as simple as that. Their worst team ever is as good as our best team ever! Redknapp can fuck off aswell. I'm thinking of switching my shirt to red, honestly.

Mar 13, 2012 at 2:07 PM | Registered Commenterspooky

Ano - only you can know how painful it is to achieve nothing for 8 seasons in a row. Perhaps you can offer some counselling? How do you manage to cope with being in the CL 14 times and failing miserably at it 14 times. You know the definition of insanity it trying to do the same thing over and over again regardless of the fact that the outcome never changes. Where are you in the league right now??

Mar 13, 2012 at 2:31 PM | Unregistered Commenterdavedajew

Mr Vexed..... glad you can "construct FULL sentances" who knows maybe in a few years, with a bit of help and maybe if your mum does it in pencil so you can go over it, then you may be able to spell it too!!

Mar 13, 2012 at 2:48 PM | Unregistered CommenterDB0407

DB0407 - nice one. I find it hilarious that you have nothing better to do than come one here and gloat about supporting a team who are getting worse every year. Seriously, dont you have a life size picture of Van Persie somewhere you need to go and frottage while inserting a ken doll into your anus? Im sure you do, you strike me of that kind of fellow.

Jayden, If perpetuating tasteless innuendo hinting at paedophilic behaviour by an intelligent and educated family man is your idea of a joke, then I am sorry, you are to be pitied. Many of the top managers around the country have said that people who are prepared to spew such rhetoric whether as a perceived joke or not, are unwelcome at their clubs ground, I have no doubt that Arry is of the same opinion.
Therefor no matter how you justify your libellous utterances be aware that the club itself wants nothing to do with you, believing rightly that anyone who is capable of such loathsome comments represents a stain on the collective character of a great club.

Mar 13, 2012 at 3:03 PM | Unregistered CommenterDandan

Team with the biggest bottle will take it, simple as.

Arsenal are known to implode when the heat is on, they've done it the last few years, they cannot hack the pressure when they're expected to win. Right now they've hit a purple patch but football can change quickly and I believe it will change again.

Cream rises to the top, stay calm and BELIEVE.

Love this:

The cocky, mincing little cunt fabregash and now a devious arrogant rapist are the last two captains of their club. Wilshere spat in a man's face cos he wore a Spurs cap. Piers fucking Morgan. Fans silent for 97 minutes save the odd five second burst of "come on woolwich" which causes the commentator to say they've "found their voice". What and lost it five seconds later you cunt. Dench. Sipping your champagne, eating strawberries, should-be-at-Wimbledon or should-be-saying-brap-somewhere fucking cunts. Judas. Bribed your way into the league, original mk dons franchise, notoriously quiet passionless fans in a soulless shitbox. Spend enormous sums on wages but continue year on year to roll out the "we spend next to nothing" lies and excuses. Boring boring woolwich followed by youngsters who think there is such a thing as "the Woolwich way" or older cunts who lie to themselves and pretend there is. Cheating manager who will never criticise the underhand lack of sportsmanship of the arrogant vile little gobshites he develops.

Mar 13, 2012 at 3:22 PM | Registered Commenterspooky

It is true though, a few seasons back they were contending for the title whilst we were chasing the hedinistic heights of the Uefa Cup and now they're getting giddy over almost being in touching distance of Spurs? Open bus parade for being nearly third. LMFAO. Reality checks all round it seems, regardless of which part of North London.

Defining success on finishing above Spurs. That speaks volumes.

The funny thing is, this is now all about pride. We could finish 3rd and they could finish 4th or vice versa, both clubs claiming CL football out of it. Still a testament that both sides are not quite good enough for a title push.

Dandam mate like i said it was a throw away joke, and and humor, as rubbish or offence it is, is subjective. If you or anyone else find it offence then thats fine and I have no problem with you saying so and if you choose to dismiss eveything I said based it on it then thats fine too.
As to whether top mangers (Arry included) would want me in a football ground, well, the day I start caring about what" football people" think then thats the day to start pitying me mate (although Im sure you will be pleased to know i stopped going to football years back when it became a product).
If at any point you want to pop down from your high horse, put your moral indignation to one side and talk about football then i promise to not make anymore (admittedly bad taste) jokes. if not thats cool you can spend some time researching libal laws instead. Here is a good starting point for you a person on a blog says " Wilshere is a vile little cunt from a family of scumbags and wrongens" Is this libal yes or no? The answer is no because its would be for him to prove this was not the case, and legaly speaking it is.

hey start of season you would have expected us to give a shit about liverpools results at this stage of season and shouldnt we be working out how we need to claw back the gap up to arse and chelski by winning 8 of our last ten minimum.....whereas tonight my biggest football worry is losing a bet about carroll going goaless to the end of the season.......weve come a long way gents lets not forget........game on......we do however need a win saturday as i have spent an hour this evening explaining spurs cup history to my six year old - pretty convincingly if i say so myself..."bennies going to wembley his knees have gone all tremly..la la la la.."

I've been a Yid all my life, and I'm loving this season. If this is supposed to be some kind of disaster, I'll have some more please Mr Bumble. There's nowt wrong with losing 3 on the trot and still being above the Arse, nowt wrong at all. Its going to be squeaky bum time from here on in, but 4th will do for me. I couldn't give a monkeys where the Woolwich end up. I'd like an FA cup final too actually. If thats alright. Thankyou please. What would be shit is if we miss out on CL though, we mustn't do that to ourselves. But hey, its bloody Tottenhaminnit!

One other positive....we aren't having to dick around with Europa Leauge right now. Imagine having to balance that, the FA cup, and keeping our third spot.

I'd say despite the last three games, we are poised to romp.
