Tottenham transfers...make 'em stop, please make 'em all stop

Transfer window has gone loopy. Adebayor signed and confirmed yesterday along with the unknown entity from Juventus (Yago Falque). Today, we've had Sky Sports via West Ham confirm we're in talks with the Championship side for the champion midfielder, Scott Parker. I guess/assume off the back of Diarra's attempt to get more money from Spurs (according to Real Madrid) by telling everyone yesterday that no deal was in place for a move to WHL.

Spurs obviously shifting onto the next in-line (sadly ignoring the sad lonely face of Joey Barton who sits in the back of his chauffeured car tweeting and contemplating whether QPR is a better place than Newcastle Utd. Of course it is Joey, of course it is. But neither clubs are Tottenham Hotspur).

Harry Redknapp has released via his PR (Harry Redknapp) that "It's up to the chairman. Hopefully he can get a deal done". Perhaps one or two fringe players will go the other way.

In the mean time, it's going to once more kick off about whether this signing is a good one and if it will cause headaches of a selection kind once Sandro is back and everyone else is fit and able.

Barton is probably on his way to QPR (think its more or less confirmed at time of writing). Don't like him much, he'll get red cards, but he would bring that evil ilk of leadership we need. Parker, will probably do the same for us, just in a more calm controlled and gallant way. I worry about Barton's temperament, but equally concerned how Parker will fit into a 'bigger' club as he only ever excels in smaller ones. If this is a fallacy, then I hope to be proved wrong.

He'll bring an engine. Let's see if he can spur on players of better quality at half-time. If...if this deal happens. We've been here before. Got to be either one or the other re: Parker and Diarra and not both. Right?

While we're at it, how about a cheeky £7M bid for Cahill. Gazump Wenger? Worth a punt.

Elsewhere, jokes. Absolutely sh*t bricks when Nathan Thompson tweeted he was signing for Spurs. Nathan who? A kid, right-back, plays for Swindon. Well, he's played for Swindon. Once or twice. Seems one of his mates tweeted the sensational news whilst Nathan was in the shower. LOLZ. Here's me thinking this would mean Hutton is finally on his way. Because we can't sell a right-back until we sign a new one (Spurs Directive 112: The first team squad must include at least seven right-backs or players capable of playing in the right-back position at any given time).

Elsewhere, we've drawn against Russia's Rubin Kazan, PAOK from Greece and Irish team Shamrock Rovers for the glamorous Europa League group stages. Neither the group of death or the group of sexy beasts. Just a group of teary looking men dreaming of that other group stage in that other competition. Regardless. It's Europe. Don't make me throw that Nicholson quote at you.

Almost forgot, there's one more signing to confirm. Young lad, Croatian. Can play out on the left and cut in or as a deep-lying midfield playmaker. Hoping to see him on Sunday versus Man City. Go easy on the kid, what with it being his début.

Parker....not too bothered, especially if it is a sale or return basis and we can hand him back in a year, otherwise he's just another Keane, growing old on the lush green pastures of Spurs, at our expense.

Spooks, as it's a Bank Holiday week-end, can we have a prize for predicting the number of no to Parker posts generated by mid-day Saturday?

I predict 53.

And as for the Europa League, does anyone give a t*ss? I don't. It does exactly what it says on the label ie: force teams to trek to previously undiscovered destinations where they will encounter previously unknown tribes playing a variant of the game called football with the aim of preventing all participants from effectively competing in their own leagues.

Bring more youngsters into last night's team and let them improve their geography as well as their football skills.

Why are Spurs fans so obsessed with this "big club" tag.

Accept the fact that Spurs are nowhere near a "big club" and will probably never get there either.

No to Parker.

Aug 26, 2011 at 4:41 PM | Unregistered CommenterIain

Yes to Parker, no to Cole or Bellamy!

Aug 26, 2011 at 4:42 PM | Unregistered CommenterStarsky

well now we have tried to sign diarra, and other targets. and we will end up with ade(ok) and parker, and maybe joe cole. now we will hear from redknapp "well we tried to sign diarra, aguero, falcao, hulk, etc, etc. but we cant compete with those clubs, they blow us out of the water with they`re wages, but we got parker and he is a teriffic blok, i really like him as a person" all those other transfers where a smoke screen, so we as fans will be satisfied by finaly getttin someone. i said the same back in june. and OMG!!, i was right!!!!

Aug 26, 2011 at 4:44 PM | Unregistered Commenterkols

HR saying City are as strong as Barca. Obv worried that we will loose and trying to save face.

Still think the positives out way the negatives with him but he pops up everywhere with complete shit and always goes over the top.

Must be doing it to mask over the trial keeping press on side.

Gordon Strachan made a good point last night that without CL football and/or £100k+ a week we're finding it difficult to find players who would actually IMPROVE us.

Face it folks, we're operating at a level where the best in the world won't touch us with a barge pole, so Ade, Cole and Parker are good signings for us - if we even get them all.

Aug 26, 2011 at 5:04 PM | Unregistered CommenterNostradamus

well thats because he is an idiot!

Aug 26, 2011 at 5:06 PM | Unregistered Commenterkols

that last was to yidal.

Aug 26, 2011 at 5:07 PM | Unregistered Commenterkols

Ade = Good,
Parker = Maybe,
Cole = Noooooooooooooooooo!

Where does Cole fit in to the team? High wages, inconsistent, constantly injured. Can we afford any more over paid passengers?

I always used to rate and feel he is talented but there simply isn't room for him.

Lady Penelope said yes to parker....another water buffalo

Aug 26, 2011 at 5:21 PM | Unregistered CommenterGreen Grass

Terry - the point being made was 'bigger' as in ambitions and stature. All well and good performing week in week out for a team in a relegation battle that gets relegated but if the player then moves to a club aspiring to reclaim top 4, surely you can't even argue against the fact that a move to Spurs is a move to a bigger club?

We're under no illusions who the real big clubs are in the modern game. You don't need that pointed out.

No one wants to come to you because they know you're the smallest club in North London, now Levy's cocked up everything by writing to West Ham asking them to drop the complaint against him for illegaly obtaining bank records and computer / phone hacking. Not only that but he went to BoJo and asked for indemnity against prosecution for his crimes... what a muppet, its a criminal investigation and he is trying to pervert the course of justice, soon Levy will be behind bars and good riddance to him I say. I look forward to a new website photo of Levy in his prison outfit :-)

Yes to Parker and diarra. Modric pav and crouch out. Damiao in and use the resulting cash from sales to fund a class striker and class midfielder. One can but dream

Aug 26, 2011 at 6:20 PM | Unregistered CommenterDragon yid

@Levy’s a Crim: It’s called a mutual release of claims and it’s a pretty standard detail in putting legal matters to rest. Maybe this isn’t common in the dildo trade and the Daves aren’t familiar with the practice.

Anyway, your post is a vivid example of why we should not move for Parker. He may be a marginal upgrade to our squad players in the CM role, getting him means giving WHU—Home of the Daves, the alleged woman Brady, really, really moronic fans, and who have been an annoyance when they haven’t been irrelevant-- money and the thought of that makes me ill. We should only ever loan them players who will help to relegate them further, following the good work of Robbie Keane last season.

Fancy Jenas?

"Harry Redknapp has released via his PR (Harry Redknapp)" !!
I don't think harry briefs harry on what to say hour to hour!
We could do with a c*unt in midfield and baron would've filled that role, but I don't like c*unts, so pleased he ain't coming.
Shame tommy ain't playing well; I think he's better when he's getting digs in... wants to win more.

Aug 26, 2011 at 11:55 PM | Unregistered Commenterflatearther

parker would be a great signing for us for a season (maybe his last season) im pretty sure he will bring some much needed drive as long as he has got some good passers of the ball around him, but he cant expect to play every game, especially when sandro is fit.

joe cole, good friends with harry, but not with me so please noooooooooooooooo!

we never made a serious bid for diarra, truth!

and harry is getting on my tits by covering himself for the loss before every game! "they are as good as barcellona" (pls dont use this 1 before shamrock rovers harry it wont rub) can we just have a refuse to lose attitude please and be confident in ourselves to smash people and do everything we can to achieve this!

seasons begun now, lets do this spurs, we are capable of anything!!!!! coys!!!!!

.. and gutted about barton, i think he would be amazing at spurs! harry aint got the guts to take on someone like him though, harry plays safe and dull in the market! mr sidestep, not a clue!

We've signed Badelj....well, see ya Luka!! :)

Aug 27, 2011 at 2:14 AM | Unregistered CommenterClevelandSpur

Barton turned you down he said Levy was an underhand crook, he prefers a good less than honest northern crook like W@ncock at QPR ! Well @Dragon Yid the dildo's on the other hand now as the alledged woman Brady plus the two daves will be double fisting them up Dear old Levy they may even cosh Harry a bit for old times sake ! If you can't get Diarra or Barton what hope is there for you, perhaps Bojo will put a bike stop outside Pentonville so Levy can take your supporters for a different ride.

Aug 27, 2011 at 3:17 AM | Unregistered CommenterLevy's a Crim

Friedel
Charlie King Dawson BAE
Lennon Modric Hudd Bale
VDV Defoe

Hope we can play this line up tomorrow. Hudd and King are doubts but maybe we can get an hour from each. The line up at OT + no signings and we would have lost. But this line up + the buzz from Ade signing we might be very different. VDV looked like he was chewing a wasp at OT and tried some desperate shots. Hoping he can put in a smiling MOTM performance which is a big leap but one he is capable of.
King or Gallas would be a massive boost. Don't think Livermore/Niko can cut it in CM but Luka and a half fit Hudd should stop us getting overrun at least. Be interesting to see how Defoe responds. Looked to be continuing last seasons poor form and even lacking self belief at OT. what does he have in his locker to try to stake a claim to be Ade's partner? Put Ade and Diarra in the above team with a pre season behind them and we would be favourites. But the above line up + signings buzz should be enough to stop us getting stuffed like at OT at least and if all fly we have a decent chance.

WHU fans do make me laugh. We have taken Peters,Defoe,Kanoute,Carrick and now Parker and given the Davenport Dumitrescu, the alcoholic Greavsie and Robbie and they dont think we are a bigger club? Cant wait to see them rattling around in the Olympic Stadium.

Aug 27, 2011 at 9:34 AM | Unregistered Commenterbournemouth spur

COYS, let's get real.

No fit CB's who know how to play CB, no CM's who want/can play for us due to injury and mental illness, a psychotic one-man band Dutchman and a long distance sprinter as our strike duo.

Just avoiding defeat will be a major success tomorrow.

Crouch and Palacios to Stoke. Confirmed, supposedly, by Stoke fans (photographed) with Wilson, who said yes when asked if Crouch was also signed.

Aug 28, 2011 at 1:07 AM | Registered Commenterspooky

Palacios, Crouch to Stoke for 15mio, isn't 20mio but reckon its good business. Crouch and Palacios are on 110k a week combined so frees up the wage bill even more.. Hutton to Aston Villa. We're starting to get some business done. What about Jenas & Bentley? Chelsea bids 40mio quid for Modric. We keep this up we can pay for that new stadium in cash.

Keane, O'Hara, Palacios, Crouch gone for 23mio quid this window. Woodgate gone as well which is a huge chunk off the wage bill.
