Haven't we already signed a fragile but gifted player?

With thanks to Chris King (@NorthernWrites) for this some what depressing information on yet another alleged 'new signing' of yoof - Iago Falque. Haven't we already signed a fragile but gifted player this summer? THFC, safe house for the lost and rejected.

Just a quickie about this "highly rated" Juve player we are picking up on loan.

Here are a couple of tweets from a fella who does a lot of press/translation in Italian football and is a massive Juve fan - came on the back of this initial tweet:

@skysportspeteo: Tottenham reportedly poised to sign highly-rated Juventus winger Iago Falque on loan.

"Winger' a bit misleading, more of an attacking midfielder, did well at Villarreal B last season"
"He signed a 4 year deal with Juve in 2008 & hasn't really improved too much."
"Not in Juve's plans at all, never really has been. Odd move for club & player from the outset IMO"

So this really talented player that Juve signed from Barcelona B, who was signed by Juventus - farmed out to Bari where he only played for their youth team. Then sent to play for Villarreal B before being sent back to Juve and now on to us. Juve's midfield is very patchy at the moment. If he can't get in to their side, why on earth do we think he is worth a shot in ours?

If someone at Spurs has seen something that no one in Spain or Italy has, then what exactly are they looking at?

Here's a further comment from a Spanish football writer:

"Little info on IF: Been absolutely cursed with injuries, and that's hindered his promise. Very fragile player, but gifted."

Rejoice and COYS. Heads up.

This week I have been looking on the Spurs Community website for the first time, never again, it's a horrible place full of bullshit and desperation. Fucks with your mind!

Think its easy to see a loss against UTD and panic. Im fine with our team as it is. We'll still be up there. Great if we can get a striker in but thats all we need.

Still cant wait to get Sandro back. Will be our player of the season I rekon.

Stay away don't want you.... I'm totally gutted about Diarra i really thought it was a done deal... obviously not, that's really pissed me off today, i suppose the Sgt will stay now as back up for Sandro(when fit) Looking forward to see a few of the kids tonight COYS !

Just to give a bit more to this.

A Spanish writer then chipped in with the following comments:

"Has featured often in a front 3 on either wide slot, though can play central. Agility filled player, but lacks confidence."

"Speaks volumes teams still chase him in Spain, as he's regarded well by many despite injuries/indifferent form."

So - I was wrong to suggest no one wanted him. Just clearly no one wanted him enough to pay a fee to take him away from Juve.

I agree with Bobby... I thought Diarra was a done deal. Too bad really, he would have been a fantastic addition to the squad.

Give me Sandro over Diarra any day.

Sandro will mainstay the midfield this season and then watch out Mourino, Fergie, Mancini and BVthingmie will be circling.

Sounds like a decent prospect and we need competition on the wings. 4 year contract in 2008 means he's out of contract at the end of the loan so this is pretty much a 'try before you buy', if he's a real talent we can hopefully get him to sign a contract next summer but with no obligation to if he isn't what we expected. Win-win

Sandro is, according to my sources (you know who you are) a Beast!

He will, without doubt, be amongst our POTY - but I hope to see many (Daws, BAE, THud) vying for the honours. Monday evening was grim, but I took immense hope at the calming influence THud brought to the game.

COYS.

If it happens then I guess it is the footy equivalent of playing the lottery. Little outlay, little chance of success, but considering what former winger Harry and his coaching staff have done for Bale and Lennon, if it works we could make big bucks.
None of that is a problem if you are sort your first XI out first but it's late and we haven't even started yet. If the thinking is that the starting XI don't actually need work then I think we are in for a big ugly shock on Sunday. I think W.G.G.R.!

Went about as good as it could tonight for the kids. Great to see Ade announced. Reckon he'd have scored 30 for us last season and got us 4th at least so he should do great this year. Disinterested Pav only threatened the corner flag, kind of performance that makes me puke. The new signing will give us a lift esp VDV but if we play the same XI on Sunday that we did at OT I think we will struggle.

No match announcment on Modric is bad news for me. Where was he tonight!! Its not looking good im afraid. Its not that we may lose him, its just that we will not have the player we want in the team if he stays.

What a sad state of affairs really - one 40 year old signing and 2 players on loan because nobody wants to buy them - and we blame Modric for wanting to leave!!

How many pens have we missed in the last 12 months?

So for home games we are looking to play just one forward and VDV tucked in behind him - yep thats sounds just about right - great formation and one that really brough us success last season. Lets not play two proper forwards together anymore - one forward will do!

@dorset exile "Monday evening was grim, but I took immense hope at the calming influence THud brought to the game"...by that did you mean we went from just dozing into a deep, relaxing sleep? Only saw the beginning of the game last night but my (admitedly limited) impression was that the kids were playing high tempo and then the ball came to Thud, 1 onethousand, 2 onethousand, 3onethousand and boot it wide across the pitch to the opposition full-back. For me Huds biggest asset is his ferocious shot which he hardly ever uses. To be fair to the lad I don't think he is really fit enough for PL action at the moment, but IMO if Modric and Sandro were both available, he wouldn't get a start.

However, given our current situation he will probably have every opportunity to prove me wrong.
