Harry Redknapp. What does he do exactly?

Morning. I'm sort of back. My absence? Call it a creative lull thanks to ill health and lacklustre concentration. Not had the time to write. Doesn't look like I've missed much. Michael Dawson with another rallying (worrying) battle cry pre-match. Have we actually won a game after he's attempted a Churchillian speech? Talk about the validity of Europa League qualification continues. Bill Nick would have taken it, I'm sure. Then again, Bill Nick would probably have got us into that other competition. Also there's the transfer tittle-tattle which continues to link Modric and Bale to moves away. Lennon to Liverpool another firm favourite.

I don't mean to be disparaging to other football websites, but linking X player to X club(s) hardly warrants coverage after the 200th time. God help us when the season is over. It's going to be a summer of absolute nonsensical BS drowning out our every move. We wont be able to breathe. And that's just the return of Big Brother. Let alone what the wonders of the summer transfer merry-go-round will bring. Fergie tap-dancing outside the Lane. Redknapp signing ten relegated West Ham players. Jenas, five year contract extension.

Shame there's no such thing as a stasis chamber.

after watching his interview i am now more convinced than ever that its the England job he wants. he was so careful not to be controversial. he needs to be goody goody so the FA can say there is our man!!

If it was any other manager, the Bale tackle would have had them sent off. How polite our Harry is asking BBC whether it was a bad tackle, didn't you bloody well see it, don't you have the guts/courage to speak up and stand up for your bloody team, you gutless fool!!

When was the last time he had a go at anybody including the players. Everything he now does is geared for the England job!!

Hotspurs - Redknapp is just killing time now, no plans to build the club long term.

Next manager has to be at an age where he can be given time to build a squad and playing style. We will all need some patience though.

At the moment I would not blame any of our better players for leaving, the attitude of the board and management just doesn't seem to be aiming for the top of the league. Not even Europa League.

I'm hoping that somehow next season we line up with our best players still in Lillywhite and the deadwood gone. Need a footballing miracle to sell Keane to West Ham now as well.

I'm completely convinced. Harry out! He is just treading water until the England job is open, knowing the FA craves an English coach. VDV is a world class player but do we need any more confirmation that he doesn't fit in the current squad? Pav needs to go, no question. By the way Dos Santos has scored 6 in his term at Santander and single handedly kept them in la liga. Still keeping positive believe it or not

A few thoughts after some brews.....

Been trying to wrap my head around the season after the Blackpool game. I decided to look at our results for the season. If you take into account all cup games and regular season, our best run was back in November when we had 4 wins against Blackburn, Villa, Liverpool and Bremen in a row. We've had roughly three other three win streaks. The rest has been just sort of draw, lose, draw, win, draw etc.

Every team has a run of bad form, but we never seemed to have managed a solid run of great form, nor have we had a solid run of truly bad form. It's lead to a season where at kick off, you are sort of like, "Ok, I wonder what the fuck is gonna happen this time?"

We did not have Bale or VDV for large chunks of the season. I don't know if Harry can be completely blamed for our position right now but during the Blackpool game I found myself just frustrated. I like Crouch. I don't want to date him or anything but when it works, it's great. But as soon as he came on there was just this massive tendency to hoof it. Put Kranks or Pienaar on instead and you can keep the relative shape of the game we had going which was doing pretty well.

Then I think about what Levy said at the beginning of the season about CL hopes being close to unrealistic. At the time I thought, and posted here, that he was saying along the lines, "Relax boys. Enjoy the season, no pressure." Seemed like a refreshing comment. Now I'm not so sure as it has turned into a fall back.

And then there's Adams. Imagine if the paper work had come through in January? Bale would not be injured and there may not have been any PK nonsense. We'd be existing in a completely different universe even, not a parallel one, more likely tangential. Kranks wouldn't be leaving, Jenas might have even spontaneously combusted, and Defoe would be banging 'em in like Ron Jeremy on take one. Who can say?

At first I wasn't feeling the need for Europa but now I think it's essential. We'll be able to rotate players for those games and keep everyone happy so when they hit their stride they won't want to leave to get more game time. It's not anymore of a physical drain than CL. I'm pretty sure the folks at Craven Cottage had a blast last year.

I'm just an American so I'm not as familiar with the intricacies of the game and the potential staffing changes as y'all, but given those limitations I think that the attitude of the THFC coaching staff needs to be more proactive so as to resemble that embodied by these fine fellows.

So basically we need to find the managerial equivalent of the great Lord Humungus, the Warrior of the Wasteland and the Ayatollah of Rock and Rolla, and then find a Wez as his peppy and assertive assistant.

Just imagine this booming over the speakers before a game: "Just walk away and we'll give you a safe passageway from the Lane. Just walk away and there will be an end to the horror." That'd put a little killer instinct into the boys. Is there a law of the game against beheading opponents who studs up tackle and placing their heads on poles around the pitch? Again my ignorance shines through.

We could keep Wez chained to a chair until a dodgy call and then let him loose on the officials. That might cut down on the shit calls.

Oh, and Is there a way to embed youtube vids on DML?

I'm beginning to wonder if Harry has a clause in VdV's contract whereby he gets a percentage of any resale profit like Holloway has with Adams

i was at the game on saturday and only 2 good points to come of it.

thought young danny rose filled in superbly for BAE, who i thought we would miss, but DR actually changed the play from left back very well, passing over the top for bale to run on to, passing into the middle 20-30 yards to modric/VDV feet everytime, running at the line, muscling there players out the way...very impressed actually.

And of course Sandro, continuing to work his bollocks off for the club, that mans passion is a wonder to behold/ plus he's starting to venture forward a bit more and not just the gaol against chelsea which he will probably never score one like again but linking up down the channels quite nicely when hes given a license to venture beyond the half way line.

..........theres your silver lining...not enough time or characters available to go into the dissapointing parts of the game and frankly im dont talking about it after the long sad train journey home.

C...*sniff* O.Y........*sniff*...S
